The first time I ever watched the show, Tyrion was my favorite character all along… now though, any scene with Tywin is an absolute treasure. Such a cool character and of course, expertly acted
Gotta give Charles Dance his due here. His expression and demeanor while listening to Tyrion break it down is perfect. That restrained smile of his, his attempt to keep his tone more severe than it actually is. You can see and hear the pride Tywin has for Tyrion’s brilliant mind and wit, that in a twisted way he does love his son, but he restrains it because of his contempt for Tyrion. He trusts Tyrion more than his other kids but knows that he’ll never be accepted as the head of the family. And that kills him. Dance was a perfect casting choice for Tywin, and it shows every minute he’s on screen.
I think the slight smile tywin's actor has makes the public see him as a different person from the book tywin. This is a tywin who even appreciates Tyrion. Whereas the book tywin wasn't so as far as ive heard from second hand accounts
Tyrion and Tywin were both intelligent and devious. Had the man realised the talent of his son and acknowledged him they would have been the ones to take and keep the thrown with their great minds at the helm
Correction: the man who is best fooled he has the illusion of power was sent to bed. There have been many examples throughout history in which a king or queen is a figurehead to portray the illusion of control and order. While the one with true power manipulates behind the scenes.
It would have been funny for Tyrion to deliver a line acknowledging tywin's severe lack of awareness of his sarcasm. I don't know how he couldn't detect the sarcasm in his voice
I was siding with Tyrion here. I know it's war but that was some cold blooded stuff they pulled. Still such thing as honor even in war. Edit: Thanks for all the likes guys. I would like people to look up the The rules of war, or international humanitarian law. War today isn't as lawless as some believe, though there maybe some who would push the limits or break these laws
When it comes to that life-death decision, it’s either death or alive. Honor doesn’t mean a thing when you die. For example two nuclear bombs. Was it too much? Yes. But it was necessary to stop the war without spending any more soldier life and national resources.
Yeah, at a certain point, sometimes to win a war you'll have to do something your enemies won't do. You can write history however you want after the dust settles.

The first time I ever watched the show, Tyrion was my favorite character all along… now though, any scene with Tywin is an absolute treasure. Such a cool character and of course, expertly acted
The quality of the conversation is orgasmic.❤❤❤
Tywin was such a gangster. Seriously.. what an amazing character.
I cried at red wedding, really wasn't expecting that
Tywin admired Tyrion despite himself.
I think the slight smile tywin's actor has makes the public see him as a different person from the book tywin.
This is a tywin who even appreciates Tyrion. Whereas the book tywin wasn't so as far as ive heard from second hand accounts
I read the book and I knew the red wedding was coming… and I still cried when it happened!
Not sure if Tywin understood Tyrion’s sarcasm in the beginning or he just simply wasn’t having it 😂😂😂
The Irony in his voice, when he speaks about Jofrey 😂😂😂
2 truly amazing actors. Charles Dance could read a dinner menu and Command your undivided attention.
Two fantastic actors.
Rings Of Power take note.
The time when Tyrion could exchange words with Tywin Lannister and actually make him accept a point.
Tyrion and Tywin were both intelligent and devious. Had the man realised the talent of his son and acknowledged him they would have been the ones to take and keep the thrown with their great minds at the helm
Tyrion proves that no matter what you do, if you’re short, you’ll always be looked at differently
Correction: the man who is best fooled he has the illusion of power was sent to bed. There have been many examples throughout history in which a king or queen is a figurehead to portray the illusion of control and order. While the one with true power manipulates behind the scenes.
Just like our American President
@@iycephoenixx4249 I was about to say the same thing!
God the writing was splendid those days 👌 Tyrion, truly Tywin's son.
Gosh the writing was strong back then!
"A treasonous statement! Joffrey is king!" God i love Tyrions
@@mongooseunleashed the problem is, once you start assassinating people at weddings and the like, all bets are off. Olenna Tyrell didnt come up with the idea of offing Joffrey at his own wedding on her own.
There is no honor in war. I suggest to take a closer look at history. The winner takes the power and writes the history as they see fit.
@@nickdziura7373 That wasn't a war though. That was back stabbing politics over a totally different issue.
What's funnier about the clip is the sarcasm in Tyrion's words as he says Joffrey is king 😂
One of the few moments of conversation where Tywin speaks to Tyrion like a peer. The sarcasm between the two of them is their love language
For being Game of Thrones, the only one who seemed to play it that way was Tyrion.
You can just put all the words that Tywin spits on a frame. And you'll be like... "Damn! That was a good line!"
One of the most powerful scene in entire series
You can see the pride in tywins eyes. Even though they are at odds you can still see how he is proud of his sons intelligence. Even if he is to proud to admit it.
i really wish we could have seen twin change his character relationship with tyrion.. this little moment where theyre kind getting along, is almost heartwarming. if he had just recognized HOW alike they were, how smart tyrian was, and treated him better, the story between them could have played out way differently.
Tyrion clearly being sarcastic: " Jeoffrey is KING"
Tywin not understanding: " you really think a crown gives you power?"
Tyrion: " 😑 all these jokes going right over his head"
Tywin = Tyrion's Intelligence + Jaime's fighting spirit
Two of the most amazing actors out there!
"Because you have paid me money, that gives you Power over me? Do you feel in control?"
Tyrion needs a spin-off
Genna Lannister: “Who will protect us now?”
Jaime Lannister: “He left a son.”
G: “Aye, he did. That is what I fear the most, in truth.”
J: “Why should you fear?”
G: "Jaime, sweetling, I have known you since you were a babe at Joanna’s breast. You smile like Gerion and fight like Tyg, and there’s some of Kevan in you, else you would not wear that cloak... but Tyrion is Tywin’s son, not you. I said so once to your father’s face, and he would not speak to me for half a year. Men are such thundering great fools. Even the sort who come along once in a thousand years.”
Jaime and his Aunt Genna's conversation.
The way Tywin Lannaister looks up at Tyrion shows demonstrates his steel of command is well-earned.
Gods the writing was strong then😅
Tyrion was so clever
If tyrion wasn't a dwarf he'd probably be the favorite child💀
Tywin was proud for a moment there
Tyrion was and will always will be the best Lannister after Tywin....My man Tywin had one weakness....HIS HATRED FOR HIS SON....and i think even he knew from the start that Tyrion was the best one and had all the things he wanted to see in Jaimie or Cersei but he just hates him too much and that led to his death
Great acting, great script, great writing. Watched 2 episodes of house of dragon and it doesnt even come close.
FACCCCCCCCCCCTS!!!!!!!!!!!!
HoD is still pretty good,so far.
They had such a great yet broken relationship. Tywin knew deep down tyrion was his best chance at retaining the family name and legacy
I love how Tywin is completely unaffected by sarcasm lol
The ironic thing is arya actually kinda caused the death of her entire family. When she said "anyone can be killed" it was kinda the scene where she gave the idea or 'convinced' this guy to proceed with giving his approval for that massacre.
That scene wasnt in the books, this was going to happen regardless
No
@@artwithlaur im only referring to the tv show
@@shogrran yeah but it's still not a very good theory
Tywin controlled robert for years
What? How?
@@ashharhasan3120 "I'm half a kingdom indebted to his father." - Robert Baratheon.
"If you think the king is the most powerful man in the realm, then you really are a fool." Tywin to tyrion
Because he owed him a ton of money. Just like Tywin was under the thumb of the Iron Bank.
I always loved these two engagements. I wish he wouldve seen how great his son was, because the two of them was the left and right brains to a perfect strategist. Lol
Somehow Tywin is both incredibly proud of Tyrion's intellect and loathes his existence
Back when the show was actually good
Always cut off to soon
These actors are on another level
Tywin's fatal flaw was that he couldn't get over himself and see Tyrian for the little genius that he was! 😇
Sometimes I feel like the action took away from the powerful acting these people had. They could create tension without even speaking sometimes.
Like how Tyrion is being sarcastic AF and soon as he realise Tywin isn’t entertaining his sarcasm he just switches to serious.
Bro really could’ve had it all if he just was able to treat his son like a son 😂
This is truer than most people realize.
God damn just a half sentence of dialogue from this shows prime is enough to give me goosebumps.
You can see that Tywin is proud for about 5 seconds befire he realizes who he’s talking to.
The conversations in the first seasons of GoT were so perfect, some of them were like battles of their own. I’m still convinced Tywin made Tyrion Hand of the King because he really saw him as the heir to his intellect but would rather die than admit it to anyone, ESPECIALLY to Tyrion.
Tywin was a bastard of pure mastery and I loved him for it.
Tywin's been always my favorite
