Varys one of the best characters on the show. When he told Tyrion goodbye old friend, the look Tyrion gave him and then grabbed his arm to let him know that; I'm sorry this happening to you and a last goodbye. Great acting and heartbreaking scene...
Every character suffered a fifty IQ point drop that season. Varys and Tyrion both became morons that made obvious mistakes. Jon became a litteral cabbage that could barely speak unless it was to say "She's mah Queen" or "I dont want it".
At least he was honest with him for their last conversation...It seemed like Varys understood why The Imp did what he did he just wasn't sure who was on the correct side of this war. That's why he said " I hope I deserve this, I really do."
If you have dedicated your years to studying history, fables, the humanities and philosophies, then you will relate to this scene. The sacrificial lamb is likely always the lamb that is more self-aware than the others. Tyrion was just the clever fox who chose to self-preserve and observe rather than act. It took the burning of Kings Landing and the death of his brother for him to stand up. But Varis was not a coward and put everything on the line knowing the consequences. It begs the question of us all of how we wish to live our finite lives. The greatest player of the game was undone by a character who believed she was entitled and beyond human, because of her last name and blood magic... That is until Jon put a sword in her belly. She was no great ruler. Instead, she followed her bloodline and became a narcissistic leader who was feared. All she had was a dragon, an army of countless eunuchs and nomadic horse soldiers who lived from plundering. Jon did not demand respect, but earned it, despite being a "bastard" by living and judging on principle. And even Jon was killed because of this but was given another chance by the red priestess. So let this be a lesson to you: Be careful of who you serve and who plays the role of Tyrion in your life. And when it is your time to be burned, do not be afraid, mad, or sad. Meet your fate as boldly as you lived your life.

Another fantastic character needlessly written off. The last 3 seasons of this show tanked something extraordinary.
well that'zs escalation
*2 seasons
“Needlessly written off” someone wants plot armor
You’re just angry he didn’t have plot armor. Being a good character doesn’t warrant plot armor. Aren’t all deaths, including Ned Starks, needless?
you can tell so easily that the writers couldn’t be bothered doing anything with some characters and the easiest thing was killing them all off
Varys one of the best characters on the show. When he told Tyrion goodbye old friend, the look Tyrion gave him and then grabbed his arm to let him know that; I'm sorry this happening to you and a last goodbye. Great acting and heartbreaking scene...
Between power and being faithful to a friend. They chose their separate paths.
Tyrion betrays his closest friend for trying to kill daenerys, then takes part in killing her himself. Horrible writing
O.o
he would die if he didn't because he would be seen as a traitor
yeah because that was after Tyrion saw her murdering millions
Varys didn't try to kill her. He sent out word that Jon snow was the true heir.
@@nathan55LG he was trying to poison her

Exactly. He ruined it all
Ironic that the Disney series they were so anxious to move on to never panned out...
Every character suffered a fifty IQ point drop that season. Varys and Tyrion both became morons that made obvious mistakes. Jon became a litteral cabbage that could barely speak unless it was to say "She's mah Queen" or "I dont want it".
@@pixsilvb9638pretty much
Dude was saving everyone in the shadows 😢
Well said. Thank you for this comment.🙌
Long live the true queen
Beautifully said.
The best fuccin comment I ever read 🥹
Your comment had me in tears. Well said.
Conlith did such an amazing job at Varys. Literally embodied the character from the books.
Though, I do hope he wasn't a method actor...
Show Varys was a noble hero. Book Varys. . . isn't.
@@sypherthe297th2Varys was never a hero even in the series, he was just someone who was very rarely wrong and used dirty means to get to the greater good.
His aim was the well-being of the kingdom, but that doesn't make him a hero at all.
@@dinorex3464 Well youre simply wrong. The well-being of the people was his concern. That required peace and stability. A good and noble ruler was a desirable bonus.
@sypherthe297th2 Yeah, a good and noble hero. 🙄
Such noble deeds...like when he was going to assasinate by poison a mother and unborn child, or when he captured an old man in a wood crate and tortured him.
Just a good old fashion 'noble hero'. 😂
Varys was one of my favorites and didn’t deserve to die at all.
One of the best written endings for any character in the series, he didnt have to suffer through the final season like the rest of us.
You can truly hear the sadness in his voice when he says "It was me...." well done....
This was the moment I knew for certain they were going to fuck up the finale.
I stopped watching it after this
@@BeverleyMcCaffrey-rb4zb Lucky, lol. I wish I had stopped here too.
Varys was amazing and this should have never happened. Truly my favorite
It kills me the "i hope i deserve this, truyly i do" Even at this point, he desires to be wrong with all his heart, good bye old friend... damn... that line it just buries you.
The writing is so gank for all of this.
His acting sublime even with the script he was given.
What else should he do? He earned a shit ton of money with that.

Many people speculated that Varys was actually of the Blackfyre line , among the last descendants. He might have tried to plot the overthrow of Targaryen dynasty without knowing that Order of Grey Maesters was doing the same .
He managed to get information due to knowing some magic which he received after his castration. He was on people's side , trying to temper various monarchs from excessive needless spending of money .
she was mad queen after all.
They destroyed Tyrion's charater in the final seasons.
They destroyed every character in the final season...
They destroyed everyone's character in the final seasons. It sucked and the writers should never have been allowed to work in film again.

He was a good man. He did everything for the realm.
He was the first one to realize Dani needs to die and the first one to act for it.
A true brave man. ❤
He was right, he knew, he guessed it, later we saw how she became a mad queen. Man who served for people, not kings. Varys ❤
He was one of the realest person in the show 😢
One of the MOST HEART WRENCHING Moments ever in GOT. It still wrecks me. Poor Varys. Maybe if he had saved Ned Stark, his outcome would have been different.
That's hilarious. Dark...and hilarious.
Hilarious...he would die sooner
Yeah he would've in season 2
yeah.. he' would've lost his head too.
@@SouthpawLD If Varys had succeeded in killing Daenerys, Jon would have certainly cut off his head. Nevertheless, the end would have been about the same except for the brutal assault of Kings Landing.
When you see his reaction to the script behind the scenes you can tell the emotions this man portrayed on screen were genuine.
Loyalty and friendship. Two things very underrated and taken for granted. Beautiful scene.

How he was able to do what he did to Vasarius after he smuggle him out of Kings Landing. That's the thanks he gets for saving his life.
Tyrion: it was Dan and Dave
Change can be sublet, slow, unnoticed. Even in death she was unaware of the monster she was becoming. Righteousness is a double edged sword.
Varys is this kind of character you couldn't like so much at the beginning, like Jaime Lannister, but after some events or some choices they've made you can clearly see there is good into them. The more you follow the seasons, the more you start loving them.
One of the most brilliant actor and character in the show
Goodbye old friend that word we are all heart broken 💔😔
Never seen a scene that screamed, 'we don't know what to do with this character and the show is ending!' More than this one.

The only time? What about his stupid 'Bran the Broken' speech at the end?

What I love about Varys is that he's one of the few characters that seems to be a tricky bastard at first, but turns out he was a tricky, scheming good guy all that time. It's a lesson that not all good people show their good intentions in life.
Bro was one of the 3 best characters up with Tyrion, man deserved better
He played all sides and it finally caught up with him. Great character.
What makes this so heart rending is that Varys was most certainly right.
