"What the fuck is a three-eyed-raven?"
Seriously, at what point did Bran's ability to take over other people's bodies against their will become common knowledge, and why aren't the people absolutely terrified of the implications?

The people would say the same about "who's sansa????" Arya wasn't the one that wanted it so she doesn't care if no one knows her story Jon couldn't do it obviously even if Gray worm accepted it & what would Jon be the queen slayer? There's some humor double meaning in that name but still nor could anyone else at the gathering. Tyrion couldn't especially after what his family done to Kings landing let alone the rest of the kingdoms & not to mention the size issue plus he never wanted it. Only one who wanted it was sansa & again what's her story? daughter to a traitor married a predator evil king suspected of killing him then married to bolton then bealish? Who would marry her after her record with husbands & marriages & sold around. I'm not sure many would want sansa imagine the civilians rumors & tales of her if she were. The tales wouldn't likely being sleeping with her brothers obviously, but they wouldn't be kind I'm sure. Look at any politician there's always unkind things said about them even heroic & popular ones like Abraham Lincoln or Eisenhower or Reagan or Roosevelt or JFK. Also lastly even if Arya wanted it Bran's a boy in those times in the story & in the real life middle ages boys mattered more especially to powerful families & sadly still do. Personally, I think should she's better as the explorer & adventurer the tough woman though I was never a bran fan for anything. I thought character played out long earlier in the series but I didn't create the universe of Westeros nor did anyone here. Not how there's a spin off prequel for Targaryen but none for starks or anyone else. In Islam & the middle east even Asia though males stand first to women many African tribes as well unless the woman is married mother too or some how related to a great warrior/leader. No one at that gathering had enough story or history to be a leader the people knew & heard of. There was no hero there no rescuer of the people. So "who's bran" would be the case for everyone there. I have nothing against Sansa but again her story would be to problematic at best if not in line with Cersei so she's lucky if people didn't know her. She gets her lil kingdom where her family has already been know for being decent & where she's shown leadership & helped rescue to some degree a variety of times since the battle of the bastards but the other 6 kingdom's let alone Kings landing would be a problem at best for her.

It was a spirited defense, but it was all for him. How could his greatest speech be nothing more than an attempt to save his own life by letting someone else fight (and as it turned out die) for him? He began his story as a deeply self-centered if likable person. He ended as so much more.
THIS. This was Tyrion reaching his full potential as a man. Standing taller than all of them. Taking all he'd learned, from his triumphs and his mistakes, and making a country over again, with the power of his voice, of his arguments.
      It's magnificent.

@@urthboundmisfit You realize Robert was King for 17 years, right? He won the Throne by right of conquest, and there was ONE small rebeliion during his entire reign.
They might have called him Usurper, but it doesn't mean that he wasn't the undisputed King. It's why there was no succession crisis when he took the Throne. Every House in the Kingdom bent the knee to Robert.
They even had Dorne onside. Not one House ever disputed Robert as King. Even the rebellion that took place was because Balon wanted to be King of the Iron Islands, and it wouldn't have mattered who sat the Iron Throne when it happened. It had nothing to do with Robert or the Targaryens, and everything to do with them losing their Kingship during the Targaryen conquest.
So while people definitely called Robert a usurper when no one could hear, there was still not a single House that disputed him as King.

They prove themselves. Other lords in the south did not rebel and never fought for freedom from the crown. So, they cannot pull the "I want to be independent kingdom" card now. They did not fought to deserve that.

Was meant to work on a presentation that we were told about a month in advance. 2 days before the project is due, I realize I ain't done shit yet. So I scour the internet, print out a few articles and pictures, add some of my own notes. 2 hours of work later, I have a presentation for which my only hope was to pray it was good enough to get me a passing grade.
Teacher asks me to present it to the class and after 10 minutes of masterful bullshitting, she goes through my notes and asks me how long it took to put this together. I lied my ass off and said I'd been working on it for about 2 weeks. She looks hella impressed and gives me 87% on it. She was the only one fooled, though. Everyone else in the class knew I hadn't done shit and then just quickly cobbled something together last minute. Still got a much better grade than I deserved though. Of all the deaths in this story hers is the one I wanted the most. Had she died in the first episode her family likely wouldn't have been decimated.
She's only ever been stubborn and "brave" when there were no consequences, no one to really challenge her. Any time anyone had ANYTHING to hold over her head she was a useless, cowardly, timid twat that did whatever she was told.

Halfway through the show, I was excited to see Bran's mystical powers developing in future seasons. The ending of (I think it was) season 4 was highly suggestive that he was about to start cultivating some crazy powers that no one else in the realm had, like casting spells, throwing fireballs or who knows what.
But then, instead of further cultivating his character arc, they basically abandoned him and he did nothing of any significance for the remaining four seasons until suddenly he was declared King and the winner of "the Game" randomly at the very end.
Personally, I didn't dislike the last season as much as a lot of other people did. It could have been better, but I thought it was at least decent. However, I do agree with the general consensus that the final episode was terrible. They had developed Bran so little that it was clear the writers were more concerned with completing the story in a way that no one could have predicted than completing it in a way that was remotely satisfying for the audience.

Martin is going to end it the exact same way in the book series. The whole thing is a series of shaggy dogs and misdirections. If you can’t appreciate that, idk what to tell you.
You EXPECT Ned Stark to get out of his execution. He doesn’t.
You EXPECT Robb Stark to win the war for the North. Instead he gets betrayed by his own allies.
You EXPECT Dany to be a wholly benevolent leader. Unfortunately human beings are more complex when you bring power struggles into it.
You EXPECT Jon Snow to become king because he’s this long-lost royal prince. Nope, we can’t have that, it just perpetuates this archaic idea of noble blood and succession.
You EXPECT Bran to be the key to defeating the white walkers. He’s not. He’s the key to usurping corrupt politicians and creating world peace.
The writing technique is brilliant because it was decided that’s how it was going to go right from the very start- “how can I turn the fantasy trope upside down? I’ll have a young boy/chosen one who gets powers. But instead of fighting monsters, he’ll solve the actual problems of society and do the impossible- create world peace.
And we still never saw it coming.
If we got the ACTUAL fantasy tropes that we wanted, it would be terrible writing. There would be nothing unique about Game of Thrones except for its world building.

When he returned to being a crow by the end it really was a poetic end where he ended up like Maester Aemon, Has claim to the iron throne but no one knows about it. @@xestalfer5774 Nah, I doubt it. I think that’s why he’s lost his writing motivation. He knows people who love his characters aren’t going to like what he does to them (Dany and Jon). People read fantasy as an escape from reality and George’s story reminds them that there is no fairytale in the world of politics and power struggles. Monarchs are dictators and knights aren’t noble. People are going to instinctively disavow it if they don’t get what they want.
Even I have to admit that I wanted Jon to be king, but eventually I came around to being ok with not getting what I want if it benefits the small-folk. Because yeah, royal succession would be an L for Westeros going forward.

@breadandcircuses8127 It tackles a great number of things. It’s definitely anti-war and it stresses the importance of leaders taking seriously the people they are responsible for. Love being the death of duty. The lone wolf dies, but the pack survives.
Different storylines take different themes. Arya’s is clearly about choosing mercy over vengeance before it ruins you. Ultimately, I think it’s about how people are complex and it uses bad people to dare you into reversion. To go back to viewing them as simple despite your claims that you are virtuous enough to tell the difference. Then you become just as guilty as the other characters that have prejudice. We can’t escape our biases, but we should fight them all the same. If you are in a position of power, do you handle this? If you don’t fight your bias, how can you be fit to lead? It’s a challenge to broaden your worldview and not villainize people, even if you hate them. Compassion for humanity by taking responsibility for the darkness in you.

Tyrion says "He is our memory. The keeper of all our stories; the wars, weddings, births, massacres, famines... our triumphs, our defeats, our past... who better to lead us into the future?". Bran "having the best story" has nothing to do with him losing the ability to walk, going north of the wall etc, only that it lead to him becoming the 3 Eyed Raven which means he has seen all the intricate details of every mistake and success every King has made before him ergo the knowledge of what not to do.
The entire series only happens because the Lannisters were able to craft their own story & lie about their claim to the throne & Joffreys lineage. It's the story of Joffrey being the true King that enables the cascade of events of the entire series. It would not be possible for that to happen, by anyone, if Bran is King.

Bran totally was the mastermind behind everything, maybe his future self interracted in the past to make things go the way they went, so he could seize power. Sansa is a usurper, Jon is the real King in the North, and she just took the title and let Jon, a KING, be bannished to the North. The end of the story is just so bad :(

He took over Bran, and as the now Bran even declared he was no longer Bran. He could see the future, there were times he said he couldn’t (wouldn’t) interfere or it may change. And as we see it built to him, the one person that would never have been King, being declared so, and letting his sister, above Jon Snow even, take the north as their Queen. And everyone accepted Jon banished to the Confines above the wall. The only straight honest person among those that ranked, and the True King.

@@queenbabylonia4594 yeah, it's 100% the main reason I think he's the pawn of the Children.
It's obvious he can see at least portions of the future (since he knew he'd be picked as King, and "came all this way") which means he knew Daenerys was going to kill at least 500,000 people, and also knew his brother (cousin) would have to kill her and would suffer endlessly for it, and he did nothing to stop it, but rather he encouraged all of it.
The only thing that really doesn't make sense would be that Bloodraven would allow House Targaryen to be destroyed after it had survived AND had a great male heir to rebuild the line... since Bran being King won't last, especially since he doesn't even have soldiers from his ancestral seat as they belong to Sansa.
I figure Bronn would be King within two years as it stands...
(EDIT: It definitely stands to reason that the Children would want revenge on men, so it definitely works no matter the side plots.)
