Yeah, 4-5 hours and tired. I hear, and feel, for you, Dave. Been my story since I got out of college 50 years ago, haha. Graduated from 4-shot Americanos to 6-shot iced espressos. Give it a try! Seriously, I think you realize it’s the price you pay for a great and successful career along with being a Dad. I loved all of the questions and your answers and appreciate you sharing your honest, and authentic, life story!

I’ve been 5-6hrs since about 2013, but trying to make adjustments now. Did CBT-I and it was helpful. Still working on the disciplines to make it stick. I do 2x two-shot Americanos each morning, and another 2-shot around 2pm. Trying not to over-caffeinate, but if I could I’d be drinking it all day! Thanks for the encouragement.

As a 56-year-old, I’d say your 40’s are the hardest of all. Don’t worry, it gets better. 👍

Good video. Glad to hear you’re finding joy through a busy time of life. I like your passion. Hope you find a balance that works for you. My favorite lens is also the 35mm summilux close focus. I shoot with the m10, which works for me as an amateur. I enjoyed your video on your m11 monochrome. Did not know about how the raw files that come out of the camera flat. The monochrome m’s fascinate me as I enjoy Black and White allot. I’m still growing in how the m10 files allow you to edit, using CaptureOne. Thank you for making interesting videos.

Thanks for the video Dave! Really appreciate all you do for the photography community. Do you ever calibrate your monitor/where do you usually keep the brightness level?

Thanks! I use an Apple Studio Display, straight out of the box, brightness all the way up. I try to edit where people will see my photos: screens. Apple displays, iPhones, iPads, etc. are where most people are looking at my work universally.

This is a very good point, that photography is a physical activity and those engaged should consider and prepare themselves. Walking in tough terrain or long stairs bending, lifting, squatting, photography is often strenuous and physically demanding. For the safety of themselves and others photographers should work to achieve the physical capabilities for the demands that they will encounter. It is especially true that the attention paid to wellness and health in one’s 40s and 50’s can determine how their success in photography in their 60’s, 70’s and beyond. Anyway, you might consider this topic for a future posting as it’s important for photographers.
