Hello Dave, thank you for inviting me onto your podcast and the opportunity to discuss photography and the various aspects therein. Going out and about to make photographs during the SF Chinatown Night Market and Autumn Moon Festival was both enjoyable and productive. I must also add a huge thank you to your subscribers and viewers of the video, and to all who contributed their comments. I am most certainly thankful and humbled.
I’m so happy about the Leica community I spiting those who just want to take photos. I’m not a professional, yet I like using my Leica because it’s fun. Even though I don’t make any money from it, I love that the Leica community doesn’t gate-keep me from still sharing my work and enjoying it.
Dude that was awesome, love your channel and content. I just finished sending my Fuji gear and bunch of lenses and waiting on the M11-P in trade in. Been dabbling with photography for 45 years, can’t wait to start the next chapter
Excellent video. I’m a longtime customer of Camera West/Leica SF. I appreciate the service and information that they provide. While there may be better deals online, I prefer purchasing from these stores. They are Leica experts.
One of the best videos I've seen in a while! Incredible stuff Dave. You always crush it but this video was on a whole other level. Beautifully made, insightful and crafted with love and passion.
Bravo Dave, this is by far your best video to date, and is really one of the best photography videos I've seen on RUclips in a LONG time. You really hit it out of the park on this one.
Think the Leica community is without doubt the strongest of all the brands. I’m a working advertising photographer that moves between ambient/location and studio … people, lifestyle, documentary, sport. I tested an m11p the other day and fell in love with the thing! It just isn’t versatile enough though to cover what I do currently. However I believe if you love a camera enough it could actually dictate your style and make you flourish in that niche playing to the strengths of the camera if that makes sense. I’m in awe of togs shooting M’s professionally and making it in their chosen genre .. I’ve only seen a few - Lucy Laucht for instance but would love to see hear others/recommendations?
I agree that it’s certainly the strongest. Some pros off the top of my head are Benj Haisch (@benjhaisch), Jakob Lilja-Ruiz (@portra_papi), & Reggie Cunningham (@kidnoble). Hit my IG up and see who I’m following and you’ll find dozens more.
Congratulation for this inspiring video, sharing knowledge of experienced photographer is great. Did not knew the 45° tip thanks ! And his backdrop, man, what a backdrop !
My first camera at age 15 was a Waltz Envoy 50 2.0 Nippon Kogaku (Nikon) lens. Time was 1955 or so. It was a RF camera because that was all there was. I got good very fast. One technique I use in studio is set lens for 5 feet for headshots. Frame and move slightly so eye catchlights merge and you are in focus. Mark the floor if you have todo so.

John Meyer greatest living guitarist? Really? Come on! Top 100 probably but best no way
I said what I said.
Instead of moving your body to focus you could use a 20 year old Canon and use AI servo focus.
Nah thts too easy. We need some type of struggle. Makes the process fun
Ok…
