  • Rebuilding the Tamiya Fox kit #58051 (5851 as shown on the manual)
This IS NOT a full restoration... I'm using parts that came with the car when I got it. Most likely vintage parts....
I did put in/on new Tamiya Novafox gears and suspension arms...
And now I'm gonna beg for help.... I'm looking for 1 shock shaft, either a 3455007 (old number) or the newer 19805917 (9805917).. I only need as of now.... So if you have one and not using it or a whole shock... HMU, If I do give this buggy away, I can't do it with a bent front shock shaft.. I seen a whole set of Novafox shocks on evilbay for @ $17.00 bucks, my other option..
AGAIN, this is not a full restore of this buggy.....
If you missed what the gearbox was like, check out my video of me taking it apart, here's the link... • Vintage Tamiya Fox gea...
    Thanks for Watching!!!!

Hey there Bob, I hope that you are all keeping well. I see that your healing hands are getting truly stuck into that Fox 😊if anyone’s got the skills, you have my friend. Don’t understand why people have to really lean on the fixings and be ‘heavy handed Sid’s!’ 😂😂 finger tight plus an 1/8 to 1/4 turn at the very most. 😊😊best wishes to you and the family 😊😊

Nice work Bob! It’s good to see you’ll be giving the old buggy a new lease on life!👍😊

I'm trying brother... I might have to cut, chop, add wire to the new esc and/or motor... It's a shame really, I want to keep as close to stock as possible.. I even put in a new(ish) Tamiya 15 tooth pinion gear, I tried Robinson Racing steel pinion(s) but they are a bit taller than stock and either rub on the motor or rub on the gear case... The good thing is, I still have a lot of 1986 Clod Buster screws (vintage style) that work well with the missing ones on this buggy.

Coming on great mate..... such a nice sense of achievement bringing these old girls back to life.
Looking forward to seeing this one progress.

Great job Bob! You had to work at it to get it sorted, but you know it goes like that sometimes. TBH I've heard quite a few people that have had issues with a Fox build. Nice one brother! 😎👊👍

Thanks brother... Man I tell ya, that bearing fought me like all hell, but I got that mother humper off!!! If you seen part 1, you know why I bought new gears... LOL. Thanks my friend for the view & comment plus ATB to all on your side mate!!!!!!!

Sounds like a similar situation I had trying to restore an original Super Sabre. Gear box res redesigned very slightly to allow for e-clips. Great video👍🏻

Thanks man... Yeah some rere kit(s) look like parts could fit the older kit(s)... I can't say I know the Super Saber but this Fox has different out drivers, dog bones & stub axles (drive cups) and I don't have a clue who made them.. That my friend might be why the E-Ring wouldn't work... Thanks for the view & comment!!!

Hey Bob, great work. Dom had all sorts of issues with his Fox gearbox. Always liked the look of the Fox as it has some Hotshot vibes

Thanks Craig... I didn't know Dom has one, or I forgot.. It kinda does have that vibe doesn't it?? However, this is the clean part 2 version..

Thanks Addam.. I'm working on it but as I said, this is not going to be a full restore but just enough to get it running... Hell, I'm not even gonna clean it all the way... But there is still an issue with a bent cva damper shaft.

@@UncleBobsRC If you measure the length of it and let me know I will see if I have any that length. I have some spares I got from Tamiya USA when they had some rebuild kits on sale. If they are the same or very close to the same size I will send them to you.

Good stuff Bob! Its going to be a sweet runner in the end. Maybe get the Novafox as a comparison between vintage and rerelease.. just a though. Have a good one buddy 👍

Hi Peter, Thanks man.. I don't think I'll be getting a Novafox kit but it did cross my mind... But with the Black Edition Clod coming back out, The Avante (2011?) The Fast Attack 2011 and a few others, I must choose wisely.

There should be brass sleeves to stop from crushing the gearcase no? Never mind I see you have gone over that.
