  • Ae you know, I started to work on the old Tamiya Fox kit....
It needed a few things (still does really), but as I was tearing it down for a light cleaning and a once over, I found the front shock shaft was bent, and bent really bad.
Thanks to Addam of @AddamsPlayground, the front shock is fixed...
Go check out his channel @AddamsPlayground...
As I rush to record this, I just didn't know what to say... Brain Fart I guess...
That said, herevis a look at older Tamiya CVA shocks (Dampers) to new ones...
I must say, the fit & finish of the old ones are much better...
Thanks again Addam for the shocks.. They will find a place..
Thanks everyone for the views, tips & comments

Thanks Jeremy... Addam sure did.... So many things on my "plate" that I haven't done anymore with the Fox but I did get the Brushless Clod running...

Hiya Al.... Its sure was cool of Addam... I only needed one shaft but he sent 3 new CVA shocks. What a nice guy...

Nice one Addam! Cool he sent the CVA's Bob. Squirrel?!?!?! Was it Shoeburt?!?!?! 😅 Those ball type standoffs might fit into the top and bottom shock mounts and give a better fit than the screw pins. Take it easy brother, hope all is well! 😎👊👍

Addam sure did step up to help out this "Re-build" with the shocks. Yeah man, those damn squirrels always grab my attention and no, not Shoeburt (Schubert) although I'm sure he's not German... LOL. As for the stand-offs, I figured as much, kinda like the brass tubes commonly used in Tamiya build..

Nice one Addam. I had similar issues on my Thunder Dragon build as I was following older manuals and not the latest one! Interesting to see how the design of the shocks has moved on

IMO, the new style cva shocks (dampers) are not as good as older ones... But that's just me. They even feel better in your hands if that make sense...

    Interesting video Bob!
When I got back into the hobby I quickly realised just how much the standard Tamiya Cva's had changed..... and not for the better might I add!
It seems Tamiya have made subtle changes to many of the components on the re re kits, I can only assume it to be an attempt to save money.
My cva's on my original monster beetle from 86 are awesome, unyet the ones of my re re monster beetles were so poor I had to change them out to aftermarket alternatives!
I think it's always a good thing to keep the components period correct when restoring an original car, especially items like the shocks.
The trusty old fox is coming together now by the looks of things, very cool indeed.
Great gesture of Addam, sending you those parts mate!
    👍 👍 👍

I seen them both styles going back to the mid 90's, but I never paid it no mind till I needed to fix one.... Addam came through with a set though and that's the very cool part...

I am pretty sure these were bought as backups for the Thunder Shot chassis cars with the front mono-shock but honestly I don't remember! LOL! Found a few sets on eBay for a steal so I picked them up and then stuck them in a drawer to be forgotten about! Thankfully I stumbled onto them to be able to send you a set. Happy to help out and hope they work out well.

Yeah man, as You & I said, You can't remember and neither could I about the chat we had over them.... Sucks getting old but I try to do Sudoku everyday and have a few books of the puzzles. Off topic, lol....

Hey Bob, some nifty work on those shocks on a supper plate too 😂😂 going back to our old days of working within confined spaces, takes planning and discipline, but if anyone can you can my friend. Best wishes to you and the family 😊😊

Not even a supper plate, that's just a paper plate for those days we hate to dirty a glass plate... Addam sure did pull through with those shocks. ATB to you & yours!!!
