@use5555 Actually this was only one of two Jan & Dean songs that originated with Brian Wilson. The misconception that Brian “gave” Jan & Dean hit songs is a persistent myth. By that logic, all of Brian’s collaborations with Paul Petersen, Glen Campbell, the Honeys, Bob & Sheri, the Castaways, and others would have been instant hits, too. Most of these were released on major labels, but not one of them even charted. In fact, Brian ‘s only successful collaborations outside the Beach Boys were the songs he wrote with Jan Berry.
The Raggamuffins "Fun We Had" take Farmer's Daughter and combine it with this song. But you are right, this does have the Farmer's Daughter feel to it.
I think there is something people do not take into accounting the Wilson/Berry writing/song relationship. And that is Jan (&Dean) both were full time collage students. Jan Medical. he was an actual Genius. And Dean graphic design. He would later almost single handily change how Album covers were created with his Co. Kitty Hawk Graphics. This song in particular was rewritten as The New Girl in School because record ex's would not let them release (in 63) the song as Hustle You was considered something dirty at least by the prior generation. Now this is a Demo but Jan would take Brains Idea's like Surf City aka Good Connie Please come Home aka Two Girls For Every Boy. And arrange them /re write .... I've read that Brian couldn't believe what Jan had done to the song when he heard the Tracking (Instruments) when helping with Vocals. Take Catch a Wave/Side Walk Surfing'. Jan took no writing credit but wrote Horn parts... And his Arraignment made it a superior song. BTW Jan had a habit of giving others much more Writing Credit than was actually warranted. Possibly for favors past or future. (not Wilson) If Berry/Wilson could have spent he time writing together (without the Collage issue). They would have been a Powerhouse second only to Lennon /McCartney. Wilson/ Motown /L/M... Writers had 24/7/365 to think Music. Jan only Nights and Weekends. And Weekends were to Fly across country to perform. And Nights Studies....This is not in any way to take away from Brian's legacy only to Give Jan his just due. As Jan wrote out all the parts. Even after his 66 accident when he had to listen to the Lyrics before a show. He could still write out all the parts for all the musicians. Thanks
you left out one thing though Brian was friends with the guys he didn't just give songs away he was good friends with them and Murray hated as you said when he would give songs away because he in his mind thought that anything Brian wrote is beach boys Property he even told Brian that but Brian didn't think it was such a big deal i dunno about now though.another thing you left out was Jan was apparently a really Talented Producer in his own right from what i've read in the past few years or so and had an ear for it like Brian did so he wasn't just a Genius he was when it came to Producing like Brian as well but Brian gets all the Glory and while Brian is a Genius i think Jan's Accident i think really hurt what he could do as a producer and a song writer as well and it's a damn shame too. if i got any of this wrong you by all means can correct me i don't mind.

Seeing Brian with that Fender Precision makes me wish I had never sold my 30 yr old 1962 re-issue. Why oh why ???
Great to hear Brian's original recording
He drove Murray Wilson, his father crazy ,by writing songs for other artists and giving them instant hits. Jan and Dean were frequent recipients.

Wow! I had no idea Jan & Dean's "New Girl In School" grew out of a Beach Boys demo. So cool to hear "Gonna Hustle You"!
This is Brian using his child-like falsetto, the same one he used in Farmer's Daughter.
I feel like Jan and dean got whatever Brian didn’t want lol. They still had their own hits but you can def tell Brian helped them including a #1
Never head Brian's version b4,thanks for posting this!
Never heard this before, It has a bit of "Farmer's Daughter" flavour to it....

Haven't heard this since the 70s
At that stage of his life before the drugs took hold he could have done the whole lot as solo performer
I think he quit touring due to nervous breakdowns before doing drugs
Definitely
He gave this to Jan and Dean and they renamed it " The new girl in school "
He gave them quite a bit of music lol, Brian gave them a #1
Jan and Dean recorded this version, it's on their Surf City to Drag City compilation or whatever it's called
Should have been a beach boys song
nice
New girl in school vibes
Do not know who this is but d finally not Brian Wilson
It is totally Brian Wilson.
Of course this is Brian, doing all vocals, lead and background.
