- Recorded by Brian Wilson in late 1977. Al and Mike would later help write the lyrics for the missing verses. This track is sourced from the Priess Tape bootleg, and has been considerably cleaned up.
After the release of Love You through to Keeping The Summer Alive the Beach Boys seemed to butcher/not execute a bunch of promising demos or not release or finish some of their cooler songs recorded in that period.
i love a lot of their late 70s demos a lot, but i still love “love you” and parts of their other albums from that time. “adult/child” is also great if you can find it
@@samuelstairsvarietyhour7059 I find Adult/Child to be mixed, Everybody Wants to live is excellent and for me the best unreleased track I've heard bootlegged (though I do like Mony Mony and Hey There Momma too as well as Stevie from the early 80's)
@@Blend42 this is fair, although I love a lot of other stuff from adult child like baseballs on, our team, deep purple, lines, lots of stuff off their actually
Some of the better ones, they intentionally held back because they were going through record label changes around that time.
@@samuelstairsvarietyhour7059 Our Team was an MIU outtake but I do love the song. I think Deep Purple is the least good of the 3 "sinatra" tracks , the other 2 being great.
Much Better than the Mike Love Celebration completed version!
A very nice vocal from Brian, especially for that time. But it's just a demo, and doesn't begin to pack the punch (nor, intend to) that the finished version has.
Just appreciate the melody here. Mike's added lyrics are far from his best effort. Melodically this is excellent. The completed version is disappointing, perhaps because it's too much Mike and not enough Brian!
Dang this version is so good
Brian’s voice sounds great on this demo they should have used it instead of Mike
Wow.......
This song should of been released by the Beach Boys as a single under the Beach Boys name. Another missed opportunity. Could of been a hit.
Agree 100%!!
could of
I believe the problem with that was that the Almost Summer soundtrack was on a different label and Warner would not give the group permission to release on that label as "The Beach Boys", thus "Celebration".
Celebration was a Mike Love surrogate band. No other Beach Boys were on this song.
What does he sing? "Going through a four year beach"?
binge
@@AGD55 thanks
Could have been a No. 1 for the boys...
It’s a good song but saying it could’ve been no. 1 isn’t real. The song isn’t that good.
@@Javier23gol considering It's OK went all the way to #29, this certainly had a chance of at least doing that well, if not better.
