NOTE: The footage of Wahl beginning @2:48 is especially appropriate for today, as it depicts him reading the news of the armistice that ended the Great War on 11/11/1918.
I find it somewhat sad that the family of General Wahl is selling these pieces of their family legacy and hope that the new Steward’s of these pieces of United States history will find a way to put it on public display at least for a little while. A firearm such as this and the other personal items of General Wahl are true pieces of Americana.
It might very well be an issue that as a single expensive item it’s indivisible between multiple heirs? Plus if they are not gun aficionados it may not mean as much to them as some of us collectors etc etc. Lastly a father's gun or a grandfather’s gun would have more meaning than a great grandfather's etc so as the years go by by the meaning may lessen. I also hope it goes on loan to a museum for display.
I have to ask, why the hell would a family get rid of something so precious...? You’d never see my family’s heirlooms up for sale. I guess it only takes one fool with dollar signs in their eyes to lose treasure for ever. At least someone who loves and appreciates it will own it. Thank you Rock Island for that.
Why the double stamp on the second digit @0:44? Looks like a 1 stamped over a 2. Someone got confused on the assembly line? Aren't they stamped with a serial number after inspection? Just curious.
@@RockIslandAuctionCompany I think he means Lutz Wahl's pistol specifically. @Dieselbrat It's not in the November auction, search the December auction specifically.
That Story Brought Tears 😭 To My Eyes The 1911 is and Always Will Be My Favorite John Browning Designed Pistols I Have Requested To Be Buried With Mine When That Time Comes 🔫😵🥺👍🏼
They don't make them like this anymore. They also were pretty affordable in 1912, even the commercial model was wasn't too expensive. Now 1911's have a crappy mass production finish and their twice the money(after inflation).

She's beautiful! Thanks for sharing her with us and congratulations to some lucky collector. Which won't be me! Lol
Something so personnel should stay in the family or go to a museum. Priceless!
So cool but sad it's parting from the family
Wow what a beautiful pistol just wow 😯
Lol

Well said!! A possible explanation for the family selling this iconic firearm is financial hardship. I would hate to think it was all for greed!

I agree, cold should make the family a replica for them

It would suck to get rid of but there’s some things more important that come up with family sometime.
It's possible family members will bid on it while giving the other inheritance a cut of the fair market value.
LoL...do you realize how hard it is to separate a 1911 into 7 equal shares ? Other than monetizing its' value... ??
I would love to see Dragonman putting this in his museum and making a little memorial for General Lutz.
Wow, that just blows me away...awesome!
Very nice script and delivery performance... we enjoyed it.
Wow there is the true 1911

How much would a similar condition model no.6060 yield?
Did it sell and for how much?
Sexy. That's a really good find. Such a low number too. Awesome
Awesome
How do i find this on the site? I've searched a few times.
Are you asking how do you find our website? If so, type in Rock Island Auction to Google and we are the top result.

You greedy SOB, give someone else a turn :P
It's not like you're going to be able to use it when you're feeding the worms.
Sad when a family sells and item like this.
Why would his family sell this?
80917springs can’t judge man, maybe money got super tight
i would sell my soul for that I'm a avid 1911 colt collector have over 100 of them
Dam u have a problem!
Ur just jealous.
Medals should go to West Point or somewhere simular and the gun to a museum or gifted to a person cut from the same cloth.
🤤🤤😍
this should sale for, lets say 850$

I can see why this video was a falure. Your selling it like a used car.
Great gun but high 90% condition doesn't come across.
