  • Irish Soda bread made the Traditional Irish way. A simple recipe with easy to follow steps using everyday ingredients to make this delicious Irish Soda Bread.
    My Soda Bread Ingredients:
    350g Wholemeal Flour
    150g Plain Flour
    15g (1tbsp) Sugar
    5g (1 tsp) Salt
    1 Heaped Teaspoon Baking Soda
    25g (1/8 cup) Melted butter
    500ml (2 cup) Buttermilk

    I forgot to mention in the video, the main ingredient, A heaped Teaspoon of Bread Soda(Baking soda) sift it in with the dry ingredients also 👍🏻☘️

    I'm glad you showed sifting the dry ingredients. Sifting the baking soda is especially important as it tastes terrible if you get a lump of it in your mouth. Many bakers omit the sifting step, and it makes a difference.

    Very easy and delish! I've made it 5 times already! My dough sticks to my fingers though that doesn't seem to affect the taste. Thanks for such a quick and easy lesson.

    I made this today, but I had to use white flour as I have no wholemeal flour at the moment. It was the best soda bread that I've made to date, and I've tried several recipes. Thank you. :)

      Yeah I think unless you've been to Ireland you don't really hear of it. It's usually served with soup and there are hundreds of varieties, but this is a very traditional one using very limited ingredients 👍🏻☘️

    I wish my irish mum had written down, how she made it, which had been passed down through generations, she was born in 1912 using Odlums, which is really good, where I am you do not see butter milk any where, what is the alternative ?
