Making Darth Vader's Helmet from Star Wars

I definitely used the force on this build. In the video I show you how to make a Darth Vader helmet out of EVA foam. I made mine using 6 mm, 4 mm, and 2 mm EVA foam, Two 24 mm EVA dowels, velcro, contact cement, super glue, Plasti Dip, spray paint and some acrylic wax metallic paint. You may also need the following tools:heat gun, a Dremel with various bits, and exacto knife or box cutter. Man I discovered your channel a few weeks ago, now I'm mostly done with most of your vids and I have to admit, you are very talented first, but also underrated. Dunno why you don't have more views or even followers, maybe due to RUclips shitty algorythm, but you deserve way more recognition for your work !
Love the way you don't just use 3D models and PepaCura, and then explore way more games and movies/TV franchises than most of foam props making ; also giving all your templates for free is great

@@MuchProps i realised that its easier for me to build without the Focus on the camera... It costs effort and energy to record and to édit...much props and respect for your Work: 2 videos per week plus editing plus building plus Family plus Work!!! Respect Thomas !!!!!!!!

The power of editing. A lot of work goes to making each video and you get to see the highlights of it. Not the hours of me banging my head against the table trying to figure out how to make a part. I promise it isn't as easy as it looks for me either. I just have lots of practice.

Thanks. I think it turned out alright. There are a few areas that I think need a little bit of work or extra detailing but overall I am pretty pleased. Glad you like it.

Most people charge for their templates. I prefer to share them to make building easier and not hurt the pocket book. There are tons more builds on my channel that have free templates though.

Yep. It's how I got my start. There is around 20 or so videos on that channel that I made. Video quality isn't as good as it is now and I did a lot more talking as I built.

I love the template design, it's just that i thought that everyone is written on the template, but one info is missing, that we need the helmet base side/front and eyes... TWICE!.. all of the parts. i noticed this now when i started building the mask and i have it only half made xD
LOL. That's why I make the cover page to explain it all out. Most people jump past that page and immediately get to cutting out parts. To make things more symmetrical, it's better to use the mirrored image of something you've already cut out.

How would you reccomend adjusting the scale? I love the templates and let me take a second to thank you so much for them. It has been a childhood dream to have a wearable Vader helmet but currently my version looks a little like Rick Moranis from Spaceballs.

I just carved notches on an eva dowel, then rounded over a smaller one and glued it on top of the notched one.

@@MuchProps Thank you so much Tom! i'm from Europe and in my country some of the materials are harder to get by, for example the dowels can't be bought only ordered to be made in massive stock. So i decided to tackle the dowel situation by buying a sheet of 24mm eva foam and cutting and sanding the edges myself for the tubes.
I love your content, and am sad i didnt know about you before! maybe we can make a collaboration one day, since I am new in the mask making business, but so far i made masks out of Alabaster, looking forward to make this vader mask as my first project out of EVA. cheers!
I want to Print the template, but I don't know the paper size.. is it A4????
My templates are on American standard letter paper, which is 8.5 x 11. So not quite A4

Friday's build will be something you have been asking me for a while for. It was a little complex of a shape to figure out, but I like how it turned out.
Great build but I got a quick question, what brand of filling jell do you use? I decided to start using some on future builds because overdoing hot glue just isn't cutting it anymore. 😅
Usually if I have gaps I use Loctite 2 in 1 Flex sealant. On a lot of my builds though I don't use any, though I probably should to fill little imperfections. The better you get at cutting the foam straight and making your seams flush, the less you need. But Loctite is my go to. If I make stuff out of carboard, I use the hot glue technique also.
