I saw Lansbury, Loudon, and Lupone on Broadway (and a handful of amateur productions) but I treasure this performance; she plays the role as if it had been written for her.
Sondheim didn't know this when he wrote it, but the word "chopper" is an old cockney euphemism for penis. Makes the line "bring along your chopper" on their honeymoon a double entendre and makes me collapse into hysterical giggles every time. #IMayGrowOldButWillNeverGrowUp
I've heard Christine's and Patti's version of this song but somehow Christine's just stick into my head. This is brilliant. I'm wondering if u have The Worst Pies in London? Would love to see it. Thanks
Surprised I saw this on a Celebrity Word Search book. Flipped through pages, and found Christine Baranski, and said she played in Sweeney Todd, this one
That's a master class in how to deal with an orchestra who is too loud, don't sing louder, make the audience list more. Wonder why the conductor didn't tell the horns, pp?
the real romance between sweeney and an inanimate object meant for mundane purposes (but probably a nefarious one as well) is his pipe at the end, get someone who looks at you like that also: omg i was like is that christine baranski or just a random lady. i knew it. shes SO TALENTED and SO PRETTY i keep seeing her face as that who lady from the grinch!!! agh so pretty!

She was the standout in this production. Hands-down, arguably my fave Ms. Lovett I've seen in person.

Please revive this on Broadway with Christin Baranski. She is the best Mrs. Lovett since Angela Lansbury .

Thank you for putting this video up, i now find myself singing the song at randomly :) CB was wonderful, she has an amazing voice.
How did I not know Christine was in Sweeney Todd!
It was a short engagement at Lincoln Center. It only ran for a few performances, so it kind of fell of the radar sadly.
This is from the Kennedy Center Sondheim Celebration ~20 yrs ago
Her voice is so beautiful.
Very nice performance, the orchestra sounds really good too

She’s fantastic

she's excellent. wow
I might have to put baranski above Lansbury.
Let’s not talk crazy now. She’s good, but she’s no Angela.
Do you have any more clips that you could upload please? Thanks for putting this up, I love Christine Baranski!
3:17~3:27 funniest part ever!
Can you put more?
