Best part of this movie is that like 90% of it actually happened in some form to the writer/director Cameron Crowe. He actually wrote for Rolling Stone at age 15 and toured with bands like Led Zep, The Who and the Allman Brothers. Great movie!
That's really fascinating, thanks for letting us know
Please don't forget Yes
You took the words right out of my mouth :) Almost Famous is one of my all-time favorite movies.
Crowe met and eventually married Nancy Wilson of Heart in that time too. She helped him make the movie and co-wrote a lot of the music for it.
Yep! If I’m not mistaken, Russell is based mostly on Duane Allman.
It’s wild that Jason Lee - former professional skateboarder, star of multiple Kevin Smith movies, all around ultra hip young actor from my high school and college years - would one day be described as “The dad from Alvin and the Chipmunks.”
Yeah, that hurt a little.
@@thetannaree He apparently lives near my neck of the woods these days (north Texas). He's got a restaurant, I guess, and I'm tempted to go there just in case he happens to be there.
Plus star of the TV show My Name is Earl. which ran for 4 seasons.
Hahahahahahaha.... Yeah😂
Surreal.
“The only true currency in this bankrupt world is what you share with someone else when you're uncool.” Best line of the film
That was my high school graduation quote
Such a good one.
We didn't deserve Philip Seymour Hoffman.
"Jim Morrison? He's a drunken buffoon posing as a poet." The real best line because it's honest, too.
“ IM ON DRUGS!!!!!!!!”
"Do you know who Black Sabbath is?"
"I think I've heard of them."
My god, that hurt... 😥
Great movie, great reaction 🙂
RIGHT?? Lmao
I think she actually says "I mean I've heard of him", which is even more mind boggling.
I got punched in the stomach in sixth grade which knocked the wind out of me while collapsing to the ground. That incident pales to the gut punch of Who's Black Sabbath?
Fun fact: when William says “Ask me again” to Kate Hudson early in the movie, it was the actor asking Kate Hudson to ask him again because he thought he screwed up the line and wanted a new take. Cameron Crowe kept rolling and loved it so much he put it in the movie.
I always thought that he asked her to repeat the question because he wanted to hear her ask him "do you want to come?" As in a sexual way... I remember being 15 too!
This movie is (sort of) a true story and the kid grew up, became a movie director and then made this movie about his youth. "Stillwater" is a fictional band but the experiences were all real things that happened to him when he went on tour with The Allman Brothers and Zeppelin. (It was Robert Plant who snuck out to a private party with him and jumped off the roof screaming "I AM A GOLDEN GOD!!!") A few years after first being published in Rolling Stone he wrote "Fast Times At Ridgemont High" as an article for them by going to back to high school undercover as a student. Hollywood bought the rights to turn it into a movie and he wrote the script. The first movie he directed was "Say Anything" and he also made "Singles""Jerry Maguire" and "Vanilla Sky." He married Nancy Wilson from the band Heart. His sister did NOT come home though until she saw this movie. (So he did bring her home, just 30 years later...)
There is a Stillwater 1 songs called Mindbender they have others
I also heard that the plane scene was something similar that happened to The Who
@@bigjay123 yeah there was a real band called Stillwater but they had nothing to do with the band in this movie
It’s pretty wild that it took that long for his sister and mom to make amends and a movie (a great movie) for it to happen
He did actually run into her sitting in an airport like in the movie. (source: the DVD commentary track)
The bus sing along with "Tiny Dancer" is so iconic, and makes me sing along every time. Also, Kate Hudson apparently improvised Penny's "You ARE home" response to William.
Phoebe from friends ruined that song for me in a funny way because she thought he said Tony Danza instead of tiny dancer
This was Patrick's first movie so when he asked Kate Hudson "Ask me again" that was actor Patrick Fugit stepping out of character and asking for another take. Director Cameron Crowe kept it in as it was true to where the characters were, learning to be confident in who they are.
Absolutely! My head whips around every time I hear the beginning of that sound, looking to see if Almost Famous popped up on the TV.
Being a huge Zeppelin fan and Zeppelin having at least three songs in the movie, I really hate it that an Elton John song stole the show. :(
@@christianthomas318 "Hold me closer Tony Danza" was around long before Friends. Before the internet and when most people listened to music on crappy radios misheard lyrics were very common, especially when the writer was being mysterious and allegorical. "Tiny dancer in my hand", "Kiss the sky", “Revved up like a deuce, another runner in the night" - rock lyrics were hard to decipher and people went with whatever as long as the tune was good.
This is in my top 5 movies of all time. The scene where Penny's heart is breaking being told that she was sold for 50 bucks and a case of beer and then cracks a joke and smiles as she's wiping a tear away slays me every time.
The background music of that scene is incredible as well
I was 15 in 1973 too and I loved all the same bands and the same music.
Saw this film in a theater and the entire audience sang along with “Tiny Dancer”. I’ll never forget that.
I was 15 the first time I saw it
That's fvcking awesome :)
Hold me closer Tony Danza... jk
I was born in '73, and I still grew up with all that music and read Bangs.
I love this film!
This is a perfect movie, a masterpiece. The story, the characters, the music. Every shot is perfectly lit and gorgeous. I love this movie.
Ta
Love it soooo much, really like the Untitled directors version too and the commentary
John Toll was the DP on this film and he’s one of the best
Absolutely yes. I wouldn't have ever thought I'd connect with a film like this.. until I saw it. Part of my soul now.
The line about Mick Jagger not trying to be a rock star at 50 sailed right over their heads. Makes me feel really old.
it's ok haha - it was a very clever subtle joke
The scene where William runs next to the plane waving goodbye to Penny kills me every time. So beautiful, sad, sweet, and romantic. He’s jumping around and making a scene and acting uncool but he doesn’t care. He loves her. There’s a shot of Penny on the plane and William is running through her fingers. Wow. So moving.
Remember Cassie, reactors must be like rock journalists: honest and unmerciful!
One of the greatest movies of all time. Because of this movie and the movie "School of Rock" I chose to learn guitar and entered a life long career in the entertainment business. 20 years later and I've got to share the stage with 100s of my heroes like Slash, REO speedwagon, Zz top, lynyrd skynyrd, the black crowes, Willy Nelson, Journey, Foreigner, Skid Row, BTO, Alice Cooper and 100s of others. This film changed my life. Hold me close tiny dancer, count those headlights on the highway.
Did you see any of Crowe's short-lived TV series, Roadies?
@@allenswanson2423 no I haven't ill check it out!
'Tommy' is a rock opera/album by The Who about a 'blind, deaf and dumb' kid who they called the Pinball Wizard. Black Sabbath was Ozzy Osbourne's band, check out 'Paranoid'. Stillwater is a made for movie band, although they're probably sort of an amalgamation of various bands (including Led Zeppelin, Yes, & the Allman Brothers Band) that Cameron Crowe went on tour with while in high school as a writer for Rolling Stone.
...and the Doors. That's where they get the "jumping off the roof into the pool" scene.
"Tommy" was also adapted into a film in 1975 starring Roger Daltrey as the title character, alongside Ann-Margaret, Oliver Reed, Elton John, Tina Turner, Eric Clapton, Jack Nicholson and fellow Who band member Keith Moon. It's not exactly 'typical' sort of film you watch on your channel, but it's certainly worth checking out if you're ever curious.
Crowe is married to Nancy Wilson from Heart (the blonde one) and she wrote most of the music for Stillwater & other music in the movie. Stillwater is just one of the many, many rock bands from the ERA, that had a little fame. aka Almost Famous Fun Fact: There is a real band called Stillwater from the 1970s, and you can find the few albums/songs that they did, right here on youtube.
@@skipbellon2755 Wasn't that Robert Plant? What do the Doors have to do with that scene?
@@novah589 OH... I had heard it was Jim Morrison. Too much LDS in the 60's, I guess.
The “Peggy Sue” song Russell sings on the plane is a Buddy Holley song. This is meant to be black humor, brought on by the turbulence they’re experiencing. Holley was killed in a plane crash, along with Ritchie Valens and J.R. “Big Bopper” Richardson, after finishing a concert.
I've seen this movie a bunch, but only noticed the Peggy Sue in this reaction vid haha.
"This is Spinal Tap" is another road trip band movie - of a different kind, but entertaining.
It's the ONLY movie on IMDB that has a 11 rating scale.
Well, they need that extra push over the cliff, don't they?
"Lick My Love Pump"
"It's a genre on it's own." Good description.
This movie has a special place in my heart.
Saw this movie way back when it first played in the theaters.
Saw Kate Hudson and fell in love.
Maybe it's nostalgia for a time and youth long past.
The music is, like the sound of my mother's voice, long past and slowly fading and deeply missed.
Aww man that made me cry.. I just realised right now.. I can't remember the sound of my parents' voices anymore either.. like this music - they're gone forever. And there's no store to go visit them 😞
The closing credits are worth a review in itself.
One of the things I love most about this movie is the depiction of 1970s Rolling Stone magazine. I used to be a huge fan of Rolling Stone and many of its iconic writers, including Cameron Crowe who wrote this movie and who very much *is* William Miller. And seeing real Rolling Stone people like Ben Fong-Torres and Jann Wenner portrayed probably pretty well here by actors is so fun. The whole Rolling Stone vibe is so appealing. At the time they were very much still considered young, hippy-outsiders, but at the same time very professional and serious about their work … which you really see here.
Oh, and Lester Bangs was a real rock writer too, who was also edgier and more “out there” than even Rolling Stone … which you also see here.
So sad what they have become, a neoliberal mouthpiece putting mass murdering terrorists on the cover.
The based-on real-people Easter eggs were everywhere in this flick. Example: When Ben Fong Torres is becoming irate with William the morning after the de-flowering: " Now LISTEN! Get it together man! You're not there to party! We already have one Hunter Thompson..." (Hunter S. Thompson of course was a a real-life living-out-loud journalist with a wild side, and was a journalist for Rolling Stone back in the day).
@@zeus014 We can't stop here. This is bat country.
Just wanted to say how much I enjoy watching movies with you. You have such a great personality that you really make it fun! Thank you!
This film is a thinly disguised autobiography of Cameron Crowe. He started out just this way, a fifteen-year-old fan who corresponded with Lester Bangs and started selling articles before he could drive. Penny is a combination of girls he knew during that first tour (there were _so many_ of them) and their stories. The movie is surprisingly authentic - the only quibble I have is "do you remember laughter?" which Plant wouldn't say until later that year. It's such an affectionate movie, though, that little things like that become jokes instead of annoyances.
Tommy is a 1969 album by "The Who". It was also a film released in 1975 (Saw it at the drive-in). Quaaludes are a sedative and hypnotic medication.
The “Bootleg” extended version is definitely best, but you can’t go wrong with Almost Famous, either way. Consistently this ranks as my favorite movie of all time. No movie better captures the love of music.
I'd love to purchase the extended bootleg version of AF, as well as the one for "Dances With Wolves." You never know which version you're getting with a lot of the places selling the DVDs.
When they're onstage the actors are actually playing those songs. They were taught by some well known rock musicians like Peter Frampton. This film is so nostalgic for me.
When ever you hear Russel playing guitar onstage, the guitarist they used for the finished film was Mike McCready of Pearl Jam
If you want another 70’s scene movie, “Dazed and Confused” is pretty good!
Easily one of my top five movies of all time. Could watch this over and over. Perfectly made.
This movie means so much to me. I filmed touring musicians for the better part of ten years and it really is hard not to get emotionally attached to the lifestyle, even though you’re always only just visiting.
This is in my top ten movies alltime!!! Soooo good. The fact that it's based on director Cameron Crowe's real-life experience makes it that much better.
Frances Louise McDormand, plays Elaine Miller. She is the officer in "Fargo". She is great in "Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri".
and was also in Blood Simple and Short Cuts and is married to one of the Cohen brothers
What a joy it was watching my favorite movie through the eyes of you two wonderful ladies. No matter how many times I watch this movie I still just love it. It is nice to see the nice guys finish first.
I always saw the 'Tiny Dancer' scene as the best way for all of them to remember that they are there for the music. It was one of Elton John's lesser known songs at the time so the fact that they all love it and know the words shows that whether it's making music or listening to music, it's the one thing that they all love more than anything. So while they're angry at each other at that point in time, they all have that in common and they can fix any cracks in their friendships knowing that they have that as a starting point.
"Lesser known song???" Hardly! "Tiny Dancer" got tons of radio airplay and was a _very_ popular Elton John song. Sounds like you need a bit more music education....
Almost Famous is my favorite film of all time and my favorite soundtrack. I was 15 the first time I saw this film. Same age as William and I was already a big music fan and a fan of the music in the film. It spoke to me and expanded my mind in a big way. It’s not easy to fully express what the film Almost Famous means to me or why I love it as much as much as I do. But I am thankful to Cameron Crowe for making it. And for creating something so deeply personal, heartfelt, warm, honest, funny, sincere, and joyful. And for creating something that aches in a sad, human, and beautiful way. I find it comforting that a film like this, or any work of art like it, exists. The film made me look at the passion, impact, and beauty of music in a different and more powerful way. And it’s stuck with me ever since. The characters, the time, the place, the music, the passion, and the feeling of the film is something very near and dear to my heart. The film depicts and captures a world I want to be a part of. So I’ll always be happy to revisit it. I also think that it captures ideas and feelings that I have carried with me and always will carry with me. Do you ever listen to music or something like that and I think: “That sounds like me? Or that feels like me?” Or is there something that you connect with in a profound and personal way? Like every once in a while you come across something that is so...you? I feel that way about Almost Famous. For me, it captures the passion, the spirit, the heart, and the sweet and sour of who I am and what it feels like to see and feel the world the way that I do. Or the way I want to see it and feel it. The characters, the time and the world and feeling the film contains and offers...makes me feel happy and like I belong. Like I’m home. That’s a big reason why I love the film as much as I do.
One of my all time favorite movies. I saw this when it came out in the theatre and have watched it at least 10x since. It has everything. Great music, great characters, wonderful acting, life lessons and is heart warming throughout. So glad you ladies enjoyed it! I love watching your reactions and hearing your comments. Both of you are gems. 😃
I love the phone call between Fairousa Balk's character Sapphire and his mom. There's something incredibly wholesome about it.
Oh I'm so glad to see y'all reacting to this. One of the best movies portraying the 70s in the eyes of this septuagenarian. I absolutely love it! 😉♥
RESPECT fellow septuagenarian!
My favorite movie along with the Lord of the Rings trilogy! Cameron Crowe is an amazing director. Almost Famous, Singles, Jerry Maguire, Say Anything, Fast Times at Ridgemont High and Elizabethtown are super rewatchable.
Cameron Crowe didn't direct _Fast Times At Ridgemont High_ -- Amy Heckerling did. He did write it, though.
*Ben Fong-Torres: You're not out there to join party. We've already got one Hunter Thompson.* 🎶
Cameron Bruce Crowe (born July 13, 1957)[1] is an American director, producer, screenwriter, and actor. Before moving into the film industry, Crowe was a contributing editor at Rolling Stone magazine, for which he still frequently writes. Crowe's first cover story was on the Allman Brothers Band. He went on the road with them for three weeks at the age of 16 and interviewed the band and the road crew.
It's so great to see a younger generation see the warmth and heart this movie provides, even if they can't see all the references to 70's rock. If you grew up in the 70's, the nostalgia in this movie hits you like a sledgehammer, beyond the beautiful story. Two other Crowe movies you'd probably love are Jerry Maguire and Say Anything.
Cassie actually watched Say Anything on this channel, it’s a great reaction. 🤠
It's a movie you can watch over and over again. One of the best. I think you can sense that it was all based on true stories.
The plane's in trouble.
Cassie: I would be freaking out. Carly: Yes, you would.
You guys make me laugh and I love your reactions!
More background on this film: Penny Lane was inspired from actual 1970s groupies that Cameron Crowe crossed paths with. Yes, there was an actual Pennie Lane, but supposedly some of the character also came from blonde bombshell Bebe Buell, probably the most famous groupie ever. She was a Playboy centerfold in 1974 and at various times reportedly hooked up with stars such as Mick Jagger, David Bowie and Jimmy Page, among others. She was shacking up with Todd Rundgren in 1976 when she had a fling with Steven Tyler, resulting in her having daughter Liv Tyler in 1977. Liv was originally listed as Liv Rundgren and Liv says she was 9 years old before she found out Steven Tyler was her actual father.
Even more ironic, Liv Tyler got her start in a 90 Aerosmith video
Todd took Liv to an Aerosmith show when she was a teenager so she could see Steven and connect the dots...and she did. To this day Liv sees Tood and Steven as two dads.
Cameron Crowe is a huge Billy Wilder fan (Wilder nearly played Jerry Maguire’s mentor). The scene with Penny on Quaaludes and having her stomach pumped is an homage to Jack Lemmon saving Shirley MacLaine in Wilder’s The Apartment.
FTARH: boy loves girl, girl sleeps with boy's best friend, girl gets pregnant, boy's best friend ignores girl, girl gets abortion, girl now loves original boy came from a 1978 Israeli movie called 'Lemon Popsicle.'
My goodness, I really enjoy watching movies with you two! One of my favorite movies too. Did anyone catch Russell singing Peggy Sue when the plane ride turned awful?
Yes and I think he says “Whoa Baby” like The Big Bopper, who was on the same flight as Holly
Yes. But not too many under a certain age can connect the song reference to Buddy Holly and how he died.
A great film. The 'Tiny Dancer' sequence on the bus is one of THE great moments in cinema.
Always good to see the sisters together here! Almost Famous is a movie I can rewatch and smile. Its smart writing, smart story and just tense good vibes for lack of a better way to describe it.
This was an instant classic when it came out. It is a fantastic movie and I'm sure you're going to love it.
Can't wait to watch along.
It was more of a "sleeper", when it was released.
Stillwater is a made for movie band but the actors learned to play the original music by Nancy Wilson who was married to Cameron Crowe at the time.
Nancy Wilson of the band HEART
Tangerine is an amazing song to end the movie with.
👆🏻This 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
RIP Philip Seymour Hoffman. One of the best ever and he's terrific in this as usual.
Okay. This is an almost true story about Cameron Crowe. Except the band was the Allman Brothers. Wasn't Kate's first movie but her breakout role. Still don't understand how Jimmy Fallon got in.
Honestly this is the greatest movie of all time to me. I’ve watched it probably 50 times since it came out and it’s still fresh anytime I watch it.
Looooove this movie! It's like a warm sunshine feeling. 😊
You two are the nicest sisters I've ever experienced. Your charming, authentic and your reactions and reviews are honest. Thank you for sharing and keep up the good work. :)
This is my all time favorite movie of all time. It warms the heart. The writer said it was a love letter to the musicians he got to tour with as a kid.
"Do you recognize any of those names"? LOL!
"Who's Tommy?" LOL (Tommy by the Who was one of the first "Rock Operas" [The Pretty Thing's "S.F. Sorrow" was the first]).
"Do you know who Black Sabbath is?" (Ozzy Ozbourne was their lead singer)
The Tiny Dancer scene is iconic.
When Russel collapses on stage...he'd just touched an ungrounded microphone. A few musicians had died that way. Stone the Crows lead guitarist, Leslie Harvey died from touching his mic and so did lead vocalist Keith Relf (Ex-Yardbirds) died the same way.
"Legends of the Fall" is a spectacular work of art. It is the kind of movie that movies were invented to be. Each performance--EACH performance--by an amazing ensemble cast is stunning. The script, the story, the cinematography--everything about it is pitch-perfect. But it is NOT a happy movie. You should know that you will not 'walk out of the theater' with a smile on your face. It is a movie you should see. Maybe not for PiB.
You're film editor is worth every penny
He really is.
Whoops. ...*your.
I love this movie. Cast, the soundtrack, everything is so good.
Best scene was when Penny sent Russell to William's house so funny and poetic I've never met a person that has seen this movie and didn't like it
When I was trying to get Cassie to watch the film, “I’ve never met a person who didn’t like it” was one of the things I said to her trying to sell it!
When you were talking about it being a chick flick I was afraid you were going to be disappointed, but I'm so glad you went with it and enjoyed it. Such a perfect movie! A lot of people have reacted to this recently but your reaction was the best . Cassie and Carli - the best!
The Tiny Dancer scene is one of my all time favorites.
Great film. As said Cameron Crowes real life had a great bearing on the screenplay, and Williams mother was largely based on his own mother. He actually eventually married a rock star (Heart guitarist Nancy Wilson) and they were together for 22 years.
Say Anything and Jerry Maquire are two other career highlights. He also dipped his foot back into the music genre a few years back with his big ensemble TV dramedy Roadies, about the road crew of a fictional band, but it only lasted one season.
Some other unrelated classics that might be worth a reaction, are:
Good Will Hunting (1997)
The Godfather (1972)
Donnie Brasco (1997)
Planet Of The Apes (1968)
One of my very favorite movies. Thanks for finally reacting to it!! BTW, Awesome reaction ladies!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I've seen this movie dozens of times. I love this movie! The music is outstanding and the acting is superb. There's some very strong actors in this film! Love it!
"I am a Golden God!" I adore how this movie is largely autobiographical, based on Cameron Crowe's own life as a teenage music journalist. Also, Crowe's mother plays the guidance counselor in a deleted scene.
"I am Golden God!" is a direct quote from Robert Plant at The Royal Orleans hotel
Sorry mom, we had to cut your scene from the movie. Ouch.
@@enderjed I thought it was the Hyatt House. Oh, well, I read that horrible LZ book 30 years ago (note: not written by Crowe).
@@njt2347 I think they said they cut it because of IP issues with Led Zeppelin (hard to believe, right?), but realistically, it had them just sitting in the living room listening to the entirety of Stairway. It would have been pretty problematic.
@@allenswanson2423 same here. My memory may be faulty on the hotel
This is such a great movie, and a "Love Letter" to the 'rock scene' of the 1970s
The scene where Russell collapses onstage was particularly ‘nostalgic’ for me. I’ve been electrocuted myself in exactly the same way. It’s not fun. In fact it can be deadly in the right circumstances.
If you’re the lead singer, you’re fine. You’re just making contact with the microphone (which is connected to a very powerful amplification system). If you’re holding a guitar however, you run the risk of completing a circuit between two different amplification systems. Given enough wattage, the electricity passing through your body can stop your heart. Moreover, the electricity freezes your muscles so you’re unable to let go, making it even more deadly.
This same scenario happened to Kiss guitarist Ace Frehley once. He said he saw his life pass before his eyes.
You make it so enjoyable to relive these movies. You definately bring the element of being able to rewatch these movies for the first time. Knowing the end of the movie and hearing you and Carly try and predict what is going to happen is absolute GOLD.
There are two versions of this movie, the director's cut is named simply "Untitled". On the Blu-Ray, there's an alternate soundtrack with Cameron Crowe, some friends, and his mother watching and commenting. He went to great lengths to duplicate things from his real life, like his mother's dresses, their family car, the ticket stubs in the opening credits (actually those are the real stubs from his touring), etc. And his mother is a real hoot and loves Frances McDormand's portrayal (with a few exceptions). That commentary and Francis Ford Coppola's commentary on "The Godfather" are truly treasures.
Best Bio-pic ever!
Fun Fact: The recorder William used in the movie is the exact same one Cameron Crowe used while he was writing for Rolling Stone.
Loosely based auto-biography of Cameron Crowe when he covered Led Zeppelin, The Allman Brothers, Poco and The Eagles tours. I always love the "sistahs" together! Cute! You'll love this movie....
One of my favorite films ever. Not only a stunning story, but some of the BEST music as well. I actually fell in love with this film so much that I made sure to get all 3 edits of the film. Excellent across the board.
Great reaction ladies. Hope you're keeping safe. Much love from the UK
I have been waiting forever for you to watch "Almost Famous." It's one of my favorite movies ever... so feel-good
I second that. They would love "Under the Tuscan Sun."
Almost Famous, 1 of my fav movies, glad you guys liked it...really fun review...thanks as aways...enjoyed it..
Russell is a composite character but much of the relationship was based on Crowe’s with Glenn Frey of the Eagles down to his look.
Frey himself said to Crowe, “Just make us look cool”
One of my all-time favorite movies. As a kid growing up in the 70's, this movie just talked to me. The soundtrack was superb and knowing that it was mostly a true story about Cameron Crowe was so cool. The actors and screenwriting were just fantastic. So glad you reviewed this one!!
I love that Cassie is talking about Lester Bangs.
and not Curly Sue
Love this movie, rewatched it over and over, whenever I've felt down or uninspired it can bring a smile to my face.
This is such a great movie, can't wait for your reaction!
Deep purples burn playing at the kids party kills it for me everytime , it validates in that one scene how cool this movie really is
The scene where Penny asks him if he wants to go to Morocco and he says, “yes… ask me again.” is the actor actually not liking his line reading and doing it again. Cameron Crowe liked how sweet he looked doing it that he kept it in.
After watching this movie I decided to get every single album mentioned or featured in this movie. One time I was going on holiday and had all my cds in a CD bag...and lost it on the train. All 25 albums I had collected up until that point...I was sooo heart broken.
I never saw this movie, but decided to watch your reaction anyway. Now I really want to watch this movie.
Phillip Seymore Hoffman performance as Lester Bangs was phenomenal!!
One of my favorites!!! Glad you guys enjoyed it!
Loved y'alls conversations during/after this reaction. I could tell, as always, that you really invest your full selves in these videos. This movie is on a short list of mine that says, "any time you see it on TV, you have to watch it". Never gets old.
Being a music lover, concert goer and tried to be a groupie once lol 😂…. This movie is everything I love about music and I looooove your reaction, the scene where they sing Tiny Dancer is so powerful because at the end music bring us together 🤘🏼🎸
My favorite quote within this film is

If you liked this movie you should watch "Dazed and Confused " another coming of age movie also set in the 70's with lots of familiar faces
It almost perectly depicted High School in the 70's. It was an awesome time.
I can’t see the mom without thinking “oh yeah,” with her accent from Fargo.
very underrated film. love it. long live rock n' roll!🙌
Just finished watching your reaction go this movie and I am grinning like an idiot. You two are so good at doing this!!!!! Thanks for another great reaction.
I LOVE this movie, great reaction!
Nancy Wilson of Heart wrote the original songs for the movies and I believe she was married to Cameron Crowe at the time. It was a very authentic movie. I was never on tour obviously, but as a fan it was very authentic. The band, the "real" fans in Topeka etc. This is one of my favorite movies with a great soundtrack, much of the music was the soundtrack of my teen years.
This is the perfect film. It's one of the greatest movies ever made. Roger Ebert couldn't express how brilliant this film was. And it was actually based on a somewhat true narrative. Cameron Crowe was a young writer for Rolling Stone before he got into writing films. It's not only his greatest work (no disrespect to Jerry Maguire), but it's an honest telling of his start in writing. There's not a flaw in this film. Kate Hudson was robbed for the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress that year. Everyone thought she would win (the betting odds were in her favor). People were shocked when she didn't win. She expressed so much in her eyes, smile, and tears. Sadly, her career went into a rom-com spiral after this film. I think she will have a serious resurgence in the next decade.
Watched this in the theater in the early 2000s I'm so glad you girls enjoyed it!
You guys should start listening to some of these classic bands. You will be moved. A time when writing a song meant something.
