Acura RSX Type S - One Take

- Some people say the sporting Acuras died with the NSX in 2002. I say, they died with the RSX. But they can be a screaming deal on the used market.

folk complain about owners not letting matt speak, folk complain about owners not speaking enough. guess there's no pleasing people. thanks for sharing your car sir.
Half of the comments are about the owner(mocking) and that's sad. Show some respect to the guy. You guys are really big douches.
#respect
+CroatianZ 370 Well.... that's the internet (unfortunately) for ya...
Well yeah it pretty much sums it up for how people are nice to other people who are different
+CroatianZ 370 cant fix stupid my friend.
Lol, while I do agree with everything you said but...the # ruined it.
yea, theres some shitty people out there. Much respect to the dude for keeping excellent care of a great car.
I'm not sure why you guys are mocking this guy for his voice, it's not something in his control and all of these negative comments are just as bad as bullying. All I'm wondering is why he wanted to do an interview in the first place when he's hardly engaging in the conversation at all...
Underrated car in my opinion. I drove a non Type S and loved the hydraulic steering rack. Tons of feel without being too light. I would love to review a Type S for my channel.
Looking at the comments before the video and I already knew what was coming. A lot of you make fun of the guy for being shy/nervous/whatever, but most of you 1. Would be as nervous just as him (just face it) and 2. Don't even have a car. So just shut the fuck up.
Anyways, about the video: Really digging the all white theme and the lip on the trunk with zero badges. Looks so clean! I personally wish it had an all black interior, but you gotta work with what you got, right? FWD cars, in my opinion, are such a joy to toss around on a tight road. Some of the pulls Matt did looked really quick! Maybe that's just 60FPS making it look like that, but hearing the engine rev out and looking at road, it looked like that thing moves. Nice car, Harut. I like!
Don't see the comments did they get deleted.
+Cory _182 That's what I was wondering, I only see a bunch of people talking about them.
Cory _182 Probably reported for spam. I saw a number of them.
They need to bring these back holy shit this car is so beautiful.
Hondas today are just not as pretty as they used to be. They've replaced smooth, clean designs with jagged, hard lines which just don't look as good. The old NSX is much prettier than the new one for example.
I always loved the RSX, it is a shame Acura stopped production.... just like the Evo, the RSX could've kept improving/evolving... maybe they will bring it back.
Honda introduced the Civic Si for 2006. They thought the RSX would compete with it so they killed the RSX.
Honda discontinued the RSX as they saw the 2006+ Honda Civic Si is its successor. Tbh the Honda Civic Si and the RSX are essentially the same car just that the Civic has some minor improvements and more features such as an LSD and DBW.
@@mahadragon My question was that why did they had two cars that were so close together in the first place? They also had the si 2004-06 too. I mean to a honda/acura person they'd love that. I certainly like more choices, but on their end. On the flip side, the rsx could had been a good v6 awd hatch coupe or even a rwd car.
He said the suspension was A-Spec. Which is an upgraded OEM suspension, designed by the same lead engineer from the NSX.
Got my 05 rsx type s about 2 months ago and I absolutely love it
Digging the tasteful body kit. Looks good man!
Thats all OEM
+koukicutter Nope. Both the front and rear are aftermarket.
Oem front líp and rear lip
Front and rear is an aftermarket mugen kit, and the sideskirts are OEM aspec.
I'm tired of coming on here and seeing half the comments dedicated to the owner, no lie so many videos. Leave him alone and enjoy the car! Hate is what ruins an awesome care community. Judging another man to make yourself esteem a bit higher is some feminists shit. If you were in there position having thousands viewing you? What would you say or do I'm certain you'd be nervous too.
Car *
+Alexander mac i feel the same.....so most of the time i just watch the video and dont bother to read the comments...everybody has that option :D
Tru
Really cool RSX, and it was nice of the owner to bring it.
RSX-S is the best front-drive non-turbo car ever made, besides the DC5 Type R of course.
5th gen prelude
shakur boyd Too heavy.
+GT6SuzukaTimeTrials Acura TL Type-S
AkiraSieghart Is the TL Type-S faster around a track like Laguna Seca or Tsukuba than the RSX-S?
DC2 Type R's might not agree with your statement
Honda/Acura needs to get back to its roots and start building affordable/fun cars like this.
have you ever had someone tell you to slow down during a one take? like one you couldnt post cause they got angry or annoyed?
Only two people have ever asked me to slow down while in the car with me: my mother and Mr. regular
+TheSmokingTire "Mr. regular" - what car was this in?
+Adam Terry Matt Farahs million mile lexus
+TheSmokingTire
Figures. Mr. Regular is such a pedant.
+Brok - Anyone who offers their car to Matt, for a one take should know that he's going to push it very hard so that he can accurately assess its performance/limits.
Cool car and One Take! I love that high revving four banger sound and really can't understand why Acura stopped making this... Thanks!
So glad to see a Rsx-S video, always wondered your thoughts on this car Matt. These cars hold their value well, some are still around the $15,000 range. I still can't wait to have one of my own one day...
RSX-s have a special part in my heart. It was the first car I bought new when I was 18 and after blowing 2 engines in 2 different ones there is a kind ship that I don't have with my GTR
I just bought an RSX Type-S this weekend, and I must admit, this video did push me towards purchasing it! Thank you very much!
Man it's got to be hard trying to keep a conversation with this guy. good job Matt lol
probably dude is nervous lol
+Jaafar Farhan he was but u can tell its his personality as well
+VORTEC RAW Now I know what it's like for people trying to have a conversation with me lol
Thanks for reviewing an old favorite, it was actually still branded as the Honda Integra back in Japan ending in 2006 and lived up to its name by introducing the new K20 engine which its block is still used today in the K24s they put in the new TL and now 2016 ILX mated to a dual clutch 8 speed auto transmission. The only drawback was it lost the dual wishbone suspension up front and added some weight but the lift back setup in the RSX is still great for hauling a lot of cargo. Luxury coupes these days are limited to the expensive Audi A5 and infiniti G35/G37.
I agree with Matt's comment about how the styling still holds up well.
Especially the '02-04 models. The gauges look much more modern and the teardrop headlights/taillights are incredibly sexy.
This is what makes me give lots of respect for you Matt. Even though you get to drive tons of fast, exotic cars, you still love and appreciate all the cool Hondas. Good on you Matt, if only every car guy were like you
8600 rpm, holy crap that's s2000 territory ! speaking of s2000s , when are you going one take Matt?
I had a prelude that reved a little higher than 86000. It had 225 whp it and was fast. That being said, I don't think Matt was driving the RSX correctly. He's use to a ton of on demand power. He needs to keep that thing around the 7k range to get the power. I bet that thing had more like 250 hp, not 200.
As a fellow RSX type s owner i can say I was very excited to see this in my Subscriptions :D
The Owner Is A Shy Person Plus It Looks To Be Very Early In The AM. Also It's Most Likely His First Time In Front Of A Camera Knowing The Fact That There Will Be Thousands Of People Watching. So Stop Being So Negative And Judgmental People. It's 2015 Come On!
Holy Caps Batman
+Dakota Winnie (FriENTlyFire) YOU WANT CAPS?! YOU GOT IT :D
+Tebin J Haha I Thought Of It And Have Been Doing This For Years Now. It's Good Cause Not Everyone Types Like This. So People Will Know If It's You Or Not.
I have watched all the one takes and the whole time I was waiting for you to do a Honda with "real" (intake and exhaust profile) vtec engine, I figured you would really enjoy it based on your previous reviews. Hondas have a well deserved poor reputation in the automotive world but a proper dohc vtec Honda has this playful and enjoyable experience that's hard to describe. I've owned much faster cars, but I always enjoy ripping off shifts past 8k in a Honda, using the awesome gearboxes and just enjoying the responsive yet still comfortable suspension of an older Honda. My first car was a 1995 Prelude Si, I bought it for 500 dollars with 170,000 miles. I swapped in an H22A in my garage in 5 hours, did some suspension modifications and just drove the hell out of it. Earlier this year I sold it to a friend of mine, it now has 305,000 miles and is still as tight, quick and responsive as I remember. This video was just a reminder of how awesome Honda used to be. What the hell happened!
That is a beautiful looking RSX-S. Super clean.
K20 is really a great engine... I get about 34mpg on the highway with my csx type S and it's great in the twisties.
190K mi on my '02 S; averaging 33.4 MPG (measured with the Torque Pro app) and it still runs like it's brand new with nothing more than basic maintenance.
his job must be a taxi driver or kebab shop worker
+g4rr377 you act like a racist 10 year old that has racist parents with no brains to raise you up properly.
+g4rr377 So in other words, to be a car guy you have to be rich or be in the upper middle class. Great logic there bud!
+ED kratos who even mentioned race. i simply made a observation that the guy had good people skills i think he would excel in a customer orientated role
+Red Cyclone's Fury no not at all, i wish i could throw thousands at a build but there's nothing wrong with doing things on a budget
+g4rr377 Matt should worry about his suicide belt, these guys can go full jihad at any moment!
Dude has a nice, clean ride. I dig it. :)
Love the sound of the VTEC in the morning :)
I have a 2003 RSX Type-S and it's pushing 164k miles on it. It still gets a lot of looks, drives like it's brand new, and can still put a smile on my face on nice windy mountain roads over here in Westchester (your old stomping grounds if I remember). If you ever visit your family in CT, I'd let you take it for a spin.
Really great episode, matt had a ton of fun.
I've owned a lot of fast and different cars. (over 20 sports cars by 25 and driven a lot more) Everyone is different but personally for me, the rsx s can't be beat. Affordable in cost both running and to buy. Looks okay, not great. But it's a blast to drive for a fwd. I owned a 99 prelude sh and an 88 prelude 4ws. Those were both great fwd cars.. but highway cruising with no 6th gear and just no torque down low is definitely bothersome. I love S2000s, but they can't be driven in snow, and since I bought a house, can't afford 2 cars anymore. When I first test drove the rsx s.. first thing I thought of was a fwd s2k. It's weird because I didn't get that same feeling in the 08 si. No idea why.. but the rsx s is a monster.. k20z1 stock is a screamer and it always feels punchy because of the brilliant k20. Its the longest I've ever owned a car, and the best fwd I've ever owned for all around purposes. (second best is the probe gt, always put a smile on my face) 10/10 highly recommended. Only car I've ever given a perfect score to.
+Noflex T-Rexx Because the Rsx is related to the Integra, well it pretty much is an Integra.
+Chris H the acura rsx is a honda integra every else but north america, so yes you would be correct
Larkin Matteson yes :P
Please don't call a prelude or a RSX a sports car...
MrZyLeXx please don’t pass on your mongoloid genetics
i've got the RSXs slightly older brother (a 5th gen prelude) and I love it. It's not quite as comfortable inside without the acura badge, but the h22 is just as fun to rev the nuts off it
Matt if you could could have this or an E46 M3 which would you go for, or even the best naturally aspirated cars if either of these don't cut it for you?
TheSmokingTire is a legend.. keep the great content coming bro!!!
That engine note! sooooo good
I still love the thumbnail for this video, shows off the car's lines really well
Love this car
hey Matt , do u have any scheduled reviews of a 1997-2001 Honda Prelude coming up , just wondering , was really interested to get your opinion on its handling characteristics compared to other cars u may have driven in the past
I’ve always wanted a type s, and I finally pulled the trigger just the other day, and bought one. I’ve owned alot of cars, mainly Honda’s. The rsx is by far the best. It has a timeless design. I love it.
how many miles where on it?
tastefully done! miss mine. I had it in the same color with a spec pieces. Thanks for sharing.
Bird - "dude, yall see that RSX? Man I haven't seen one of those in years. I am gonna take a closer look. I really like the clean look with the white on white and [dead]." Taking the "look don't touch" sign to a whole new meaning
Championship White with white wheels. Man, I do love that! Gorgeous car!
+WikdSeafood My 2005 RSX-S has premium white paint and I presume the 2006 is the same. I do love the type r wheels!
Premium white pearl. Not championship white.
Yes! When my brother owned an 05 Type S, it was pretty damn good! I try to aim for that kind of comfort and performance with my Accord build. It's a damn shame that many RSX Type-S owners are all "camber-gang" or "stance nation" because the car is damn good! I love the way it handles, a few that go out to the track or auto-xing with me are sooo damn fast! Not quite as good as the Integra Type R, but that's a hard bar to overcome. Great review!
Keyboard warriors annoy me so much, he seems like a cool dude, not everyone has to be so out there. All you gotta know is he is a car enthusiast so you can relate to him, give the guy a break, love your car man if youre seeing this, i got a Type-S also! Cheers
Love my RSX Type S ASPEC. Anyone know what is comparable in today's market? I've heard BMWs have the same high rev characteristics...
i really enjoyed this review. thanks RSX-S owner and Matt, Smoking tire. I run an 2003 EP3 and this review was close to home. if youre ever in the bay area I'd love to let you smash in it.
This car sounds pretty dang good.
@Matt Farrah Are you heal toeing this car?
Just got this car, and its awesome! Already put coil overs and a cold air intake into it
god damn this thing is clean & tasteful, owner did an amazing job aesthetically
I've owned a shit ton of Mercedes sedans but my DD now is an '08 Acura TL. I have to say that you would have to work really hard to beat it. The interior is classy and functional. The ride is sporty. The chassis very well sorted and it looks good. I didn't go with OEM spec tires because I drive so much for work. I went with some LRR tires that don't have as high a speed rating as recommended but they are pretty damn good. They're quiet and I'm getting 26.5mpg with the a/c on driving mostly highway at an 85mph pace. I do use Mobil 1 0-W20 oil as well. Acuras are hard to beat in any category. I may go for a model with SH-AWD next time I'm in the market for a car.
Great car! Love the one takes Matt!
That was a very nice example of the RSX-S. Not into the tan interior myself; but, to each their own. I do love my high revs too, especially on the Dragon's Tail.
Really sharp looking car. Love the (what appears to be) HID projector headlight retrofit.
My 94 Integra GSR is about to hit 350K miles, and it's only died on me twice. Once in 2006 from a crappy alarm install with starter kill that fried my ignition harness (5 years after it was installed), and once in 2012 with over 300K miles when the distributor gave out.
I run sort of a "hybrid" OEM suspension setup, with Koni Sport yellow adjustable shocks, OEM Integra springs up front, and OEM DC2 Type R springs in the rear. Lowered down using the Koni adjustable spring perch. Plus the Type R 22mm rear sway bar. So I get near-OEM ride quality with the lowered stance.
I absolutely love how he's driving this car as well as the route he used. Wish he drove this road more!
Matt do you have any Hyundai Tiburon GTs on the list?
One of my favorite videos by Matt oddly, great owner and love the car thanks for sharing
I wonder how the seating position is on one of these?
I’m glad I have one of these, especially as my first car. Definitely never giving it away and keep it for collection when it needs to sit in the future.
Does this have the same 220HP engine as the Honda Integra Type-R?
no they only get 200bhp and softer handling
Okay, thanks!
Technically the 05 06 have 215 stock and share the same internals as type rs.
you can really see that matt is having fun is this video!
To the owner of the car man great looking rsx keep at it man your off to a great start and awesome vid as always Matt
Loved the ep3 civic and rsx vehicles, miss my old one.
Thumbs up for the clean paint job and no stickers :D
+Gertzerroz how can you have exceed 360 degrees of camber? That's impossible
I slap myself in the face every day for going with a 2014 si over a very lightly used type-s. K20>k24 all day. Coming from a k24 owner
K24 are the shit to have, the chassis in which theyre found are crap. Theres nothing like a k24 dc5 or dc2
+Mariano Sangollo I disagree with that. Sure, more torque, but it's not enough that you don't have to wind it out. I'd trade that for an 8600 rpm redline and a much larger aftermarket. Plus the chassis is more comfortable for DDing and it bites harder in the corners
+SupErnaTuraL315 as a '12 si owner myself i have to admit stock yes it is less exciting but when you add an intake the vtec does come alive and combined with a hondata ecu re-flash the redline extends to 7600 and you get noticeable power than it already has.
+TheNuke95 I have the skunk2 intake and invidia q300 and it does sound great but I keep debating on flash pro. I know it gives you a good power gain but is it night and day or is it just another $700 to say my car is faster? Does it really make a difference in how fun to drive it is?
+fizzlemizzle2010 I test drove an auto brz and I agree, it didn't feel like it was ever going to be enough. Incredibly balanced but where I live it's mostly straight roads. The civic isn't any faster but it's more practical. I've been toying with the idea of the ecoboost mustang though
IVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS 😍
How much power does that engine make with a turbo? A lot, a lot of power. K20A's are insane when a turbo is strapped on. Some make 500whp on a stock block and stock headgasket.
Gotta love the sound of a VTEC 4
wow thats a very nice clean RSX and sounds good. tastefully done great work to the owner
isnt the newer civic si basically an rsx?
So has anybody started tricking out one of the newer ILXs? I assume those are kind of the same as the RSX but being a 4 door variant.
@TheSmokingTire
I recently sold my 05 with 150k for some cash and a 91Miata. I drove mine from VT to CA towing Uhaul trailer way over the 1000lb towing limit. The thing never missed a beat and still managed 30 mpg.
My dad had the car for 10 years and never replaced anything other than wear and tear items. Watching this really made me miss mine and revving the snot out of that gem of an engine. It is such a shame they stopped making these!!!
Got to love the Vtec sound
Does anyone know where this is being filmed?
Nice car. Look forward to the Integra you have on the schedule.
RSX type S without a turbo or grippy tires? What is this?
When are we going to see you in an S2000?!
I read on s2ki that you almost made it into one at gripfest :(
I'm still waiting for the day as well. Can't wait til he drives one
I think I saw him say in a comment in another video that he doesn't enjoy driving them and doesn't have one scheduled
Matt will have trouble fitting into a S2000, I bet. If you are over 6''2" and over 230lbs - you typically will never be comfortable in that car.
+Tim Tursonoff he drove a miata on the show, if he can fit in the miata he can fit in a s2k
+Tim Tursonoff If he drives in one with aftermarket seats he should not have a problem since the seat rails will be lower. We just need 10 minutes of him in it!
personal favorite production car, my first love in the car world
Really clean looking RSX. Very nice Decker Cyn. Bring back the RSX! If they did i'd buy one for a daily no sweat.
Had a VBP 06 type-s, one of my favorite cars!
Man i should've gotten a type s. i got an 05 Infiniti g35 six speed instead, and while a beautiful car, its jus not as fun and driver friendly as i would like. I feel very blessed to have it, but definitely getting an rsx type s next. I really need that k20 high revving scream.
Nice run! Flowed real nice down hill
What type of exhaust does he have
It'd be nice to be able to hear what the owner has to say, but outside that, it's fun! Thanks JD
A car that's from 2002 still running good to this day ??
I've always been a fan of the type s models, it's nice clean looking rsx
Great vid and clean car. Wish you came to NYC so I could've shown you mine with a little more mods than his ;)
Pioneer stereo they sound good and what subs
WTF is up with replacing the caliper badges with ricy H badges I've seen on a couple of these lately?
even if it's a car I don't particularly like I still find myself watching these and enjoying them :)
30mph looks so fast, lol
I own a 2002 RSX type S with 200,000 miles +. All stock. I also own a mint G35 coupe with 88,000 miles. I love both cars. If I was to sell off one it would be the G. The Ac is just so solid and about as fast as the G. The Acura is designed just so perfect and with quality tires it out performs most in in it's class if not all. Ahh, the G sounds so good and is classy and fun too but it is useless in snow while the Ac will get you home in the worst snow storms. Now that brings me to my truck. 1993 Toyota pickup 4×4. Let it snow. Best small truck ever and still looks beautiful. 200,000 + and that is still going strong! Then my Icon. 2011 cbr 1000rr. Nice!
Clean RSX. I hate the lack of torque and LSD, but nice overall.
Man, I forgot how good looking the 2006 RSX was, the exterior and the interior design hasn't aged at all. This was a good looking car.
300 hp with a turbo lol, Matt needs to check out nyce1s and see some 800+ hp K series
