    Hi sir, if the paint has no defect and you just want to change color why not just scuff the clear with maroon scotch brite and then put your new paint on top of that? thx

    • @04NT1H3RO0
      @04NT1H3RO0 4 дня назад

      Since no1 has replied yet. If I'm correct, the scuff pad is not strong enough to get the clear off. Because he uses 120 grit, which will scratch off the clear fast. Not to rough but rough enough to take off the clear. Then use the 220 to smooth out the scratches from the previous grit. The scuff pad is the smoothest so it's the last step.

      I scuffed the clearcoat on the bumper cover with 800 grit and a flexible block. I was careful not to sand through to the plastic anywhere. I have the Endozer HVLP with the 3 nozzles. I have a pint of reduced paint (from the auto paint store) and they sold me some clearcoat that is in rattle cans and has the catalyst in it. Do I need to put primer down or can I just wash it and paint it?
      Also, what nozzle size should I use for the metallic paint?

    Hey pharraway, in a previous video (predating this one) you painted a traverse that was in really good condition and I believe you started with 400 and went up to 600 wet. I realize this video is newer, would you recommend starting at 220 now even if the paint is mint? Thanks in advance man! Love the videos

    This is the most informative video I've seen for what I need to do on my car! The body of my car is in perfect condition, but we want a color change. Do I do the same method by hand when doing the jambs and the areas where the sander can't get? Is there a small air compressor attachment to do the jambs and other tough areas?

    I thought you used 60 grit to get the paint off then used 120 or 180 to sand the filler then used 220 to sand the primer then use 400 to sand the primer and paint before the clear coat. Sand paper is so confusing.

      Really enjoyed your video Pharraway I found it really useful and informative, I've never tried the scotch pads on the DA so I'll give it a go will using that help stop cut throughs on the panel edges as that is something I often have problems with. One other thing why do I get pigtails when using the DA? sometimes they appear a few seconds after using a new disc.
      Thanks Pharraway and I've left you a little something for your time👌👏🙏👍 John UK.

    • @PHARRAWAY
      @PHARRAWAY  2 года назад +1

      @@JohnWD40TC02 first Thank You brother and about the fishtail ya, try using a different brand of sandpaper I have the same problem with cheap sandpaper but what you can do is with a scotch pad pass the sandpaper through it and it will remove the pigtails quick so you can continue sanding.

    • @JohnWD40TC02
      @JohnWD40TC02 2 года назад +1

      You are more than welcome it's not much but every little helps👍I've tried the 3M purple, Mirka autonet, Kovax and a cheaper one called Starcke all with varying amounts of success but I'll try cleaning the discs with the scotch pad.
      I'm a bit heavy handed so maybe I'm putting to much force on the DA, I use the Mirka 150mm Deros electric with dust extraction, thanks for the help🙏👍
