I don't get it either. I don't know why someone would go into an area as pristine as that and leave rubbish behind. I don't know what goes in their heads and they obviously don't care about anyone but themselves. I bet they'd love it if people dumped rubbish in their front yards. Luckily for people like Foresty.
Do you guys really not get why people do this? Hint: It's not apathy. Apathy would mean if you told them to take their garbage with them, they'd do so. Sadly a certain portion of the human race are just selfish, self-centered pigs. My overlanding buddy and I both carry trasharoo type cargo bags strapped to our spare tire and bring along gloves, heavy duty trash bags, and grabber tools to clean up sites we visit. We need to add strong magnets to our tool set to collect the nails left behind from people burning wood pallets. Our biggest haul so far was four large trash bags worth of trash along with an abandoned broken child's ride-on toy at a primitive campsite in Vermont. We brought our haul to the nearest open reclamation center where we had to pay to dispose of what the ding dongs left behind in the woods. We can only hope that there are more folks that will clean up spoiled outdoor areas than there are those who would ruin them by leaving their trash behind. Unfortunately, I think the ding dongs have us outnumbered.
