Thank you for your detailed video even with the oil filter drain plug most videos don't have that bit & size , showing part numbers. I just did my friends Mazda and I followed your video step by step
I just double checked in my repair manual to make sure the number are right. Thank you for noticing that I am mentioning the torque spec. I find it important to know the right values, but most videos never mention them. Maybe a lot of people just don't care to do it right.
I went O'Reilly Auto Parts, and the employee found the housing cover part (in stock), then brought it to the various-sized filter wrenches and we found one that worked. I imagine any reputable auto parts store could do the same. 👍
I was using these products from Amazon:
5W20 Oil: amzn.to/2xG6LiG
Oil filter: amzn.to/2xFIid7
Gasket: amzn.to/2xGceGj
Funnel & Pan: amzn.to/2xFUkmJ

Thank you for your feedback. I appreciate it! 👍
Thank you so much. This so helpful. Totally agree on the previous comment about torque specs. This is much easier now.
Your video is one of the few that show torque specs! Wow, that many ft lbs for the plastic filter cover & the metal drain plug?!?

What size is the cap for the oil filter housing
What happened to the plastic piece which fits over all of the filter and the area?
Thank you for the help!!
Is the bolt facing the engine or in the back?
Mazda 3 is only a model? What engine you have? Petrol or diesel? Put that on description...
Diesel isn't available for the Mazda 3
@@philhartman6036 nah you are wrong mate
@@philhartman6036 in europe at least we sure have mazda 3 with diesel, mine´s a 2006 model
@@bruh5924 oh right on, i thought it was called something else in europe. I'd love to have a diesel mazda 3 though.
highly recommend a spin filter conversion kit. they are less than $100 and easy to install. Then no more messy cartridges to worry about.
Where can you get the filter cup wrench?
My Ford Fusion had the same thing for the oil filter. Such an annoying design.
What year is your Mazda?
It’s a 2006

this must be a earlier model. my 2005 uses a standard metal oil filter
It’s the 2.3l engine from 2006.
@@MegaSafetyFirst ok. the 2005 2.0 engine uses a standard filter. thank you.
