With the help of SPECTO data, it'll help tell the story about reaction shape, overall hook and continuation through the pins. Here are the SPECTO data points used and definition of each term:
Launch Speed - Speed measured off the hand.
Entry Speed - Speed measured at the pins. (What you'd see on your home center MPH screens)
Rev Rate - Revolutions Per Minute (RPM)
Launch Angle - The angle the ball traveled the first 10 feet.
Break Point Position - Board at which the ball was at its outermost position.
Total Hook - Total number of boards the ball crosses on the way to the pins.
Hook Power - Number of boards the ball hooked based from the True Breakpoint.
Entry Angle - The angle of the ball between 51 and 55 feet.
Impact Angle - The angle of the ball between 57 and 59.5 feet.
Pin Deck Exit - Ball position at the end of the pin deck.

Honestly these balls are a great compliment to each other. Start with Rattler and ball down to Blue once the lane opens up.
I like the NU for transition. It smoothes all the over under for me.
Thank you so much for this informative video. I am using both balls, laid out both balls with 70x3.5x20, and worked well on short and medium patterns. 😊👍🏻👍🏻
I personally love my NU Blue for the House shot, something about it just works for my game and it’s the ball i shot my 1st 300 with so it holds a special place in my heart now, now for sport shots yes 9 times out of 10 i’ll take my Black or Purple over the NU but that definitely doesn’t mean I won’t try to break the lanes down in hopes i can use the NU Blue later on, don’t think i’ll get the Rattler but i still like the it’s ball motion, the cover definitely is something unique, keep the good work Nick and here’s an idea to throw into the Hammerheads, throw the NU Cover on the Gas Mask core and I’d honestly love to see how that would play the lanes!
I would like to see how these perform with a very weak layout as they are supposed to be urethane replacements.
Nu blue was the only ball i could use for any consistency of reaction at Nationals. Right up the gutter in both sessions. 1 pin up other pin down. Great combo! Love your videos.
I've been using a Hammer Raw Black with a 2.25" pin as my "fake-ethane" for wood lanes and short patterns with some success. Looking into the Rattler NU for sure. The Blue never really appealed to me being speed dominant.
The NU Blue Hammer is my go-to ball whenever I bowl at a dry lane house and want to start with surface.
Hey Nick! I'm a new/old bowler, meaning, I finally started getting serious about bowling. I'm in my late 50's and a slow speed and Rev bowler. So far, I have a Black Widow 3.0, Radioactive Vibe and Artic Vibe, which I have enjoyed learning to use. I want to get good enough to start leagues and tournaments. Someone is willing to gift me with a new ball to add to the arsenal, so I am contemplating the BW 2.0 Hybrid, NU Blue, NU Rattler, Hazmat and maybe Ghost Pearl. My local pro shop was pushing the Rattler. What is your recommendation?
Use the NU Hammer in league. Works well when Teal Pro is too much.
My not urethane option that reacts like urathane is an envy tour with abt a 7in pin. The mass bias mark is next to my ring finger
Hey Nick I’m hearing about the Rattler Big Bite being the new benchmark ball from Radical. What is your impression of it and will it compete with Storms Ion Pro?
@@jaredhydell1081 the Big Bite is a lower flare symmetrical ball, very benchmark midrange performer. The ball you really want if you’re comparing apples to apples is the Envy Tour.
NU hammer is still first out of the bag for me! Love that ball! I recently paired it with the Arctic Vibe and that’s been a deadly combo during league!
Excellent information, awesome video
When you said that most PBA pro’s prefer the 78D black urethane over the NU, I couldn’t agree more. Even if a person is just a league bowler, the majority of people would pick the 78D black urethane. I have both the 78D and the NU blue, that being said the 78D is pretty much my benchmark ball. I love my NU blue and it does have a place in my bag, but I’ll take my 78D nine out of ten times over my NU blue. It’s so smooth and controllable. My opponents hate that I throw it during league, but I really don’t care. If you’re bowling for score and urethane is an option, I don’t see a reason why a person wouldn’t choose urethane. Especially the 78D black urethane. That ball is easily in contention for ball of the year!!!
Why even change from pitch black or the purple hammer being we are just league bowlers not pros
I have pitch black and the purple hammer and use both ! Lately more pitch black just seems it’s smoother for me
@@70yearoldrookiebowler I have a IQ 78. I just bought about a week ago and I love ball already. I don’t care if the league members get mad. I have. Hammer nu blue to
@@70yearoldrookiebowler the only reason why I switched from the purple hammer to the 78D black is because it’s weaker. I am rev dominant, so I wanted a weaker purple hammer, aka the 78D black. I’ve never thrown the pitch black, but from what I see the pitch black and 78D seem to be closer to compared to the 78D and the purple hammer.
Yeah, I just bought the new IQ 78 and love the ball. I don’t care my the other team hates it’s gonna looks like it gonna be a benchmark ball. I also have hammer nu blue. I can see myself going to a ball like the new blue hammer after IQ 78.
the blue goes long for sure. drilling the rattler this morning. what do you think of a 40x3.75x40? I'm low rev with around 14mph. brunsnick you are my only hope. i will stop being so salty😘
@@erikknudson3077 should be good! 👍🏻
❤@@brunsnick
I will probably end up doing the same. I am a lower rev lower speed as well.
I have a Brunswick attitude control red pearl urethane and just love this ball
Don’t have anything else was looking the double cross ??? But I’m happy with my attitude control great video Nick
I’ve seen some double crosses on eBay brand new I almost bought a double cross, but I chose to go with IQ 78 cause I got to throw that one and really liked like. and the new blue hammer at demo and them both. I’ve had my hammer nu six months.
@@StacyRayl I’m a so called Hammer head don’t have the NU but like the widow black urethane do not have it yet let’s see my arsenal Hammer black widow Toxin hybrid, Effect, 3d offset attack, Web , Dark legend , Dark web solid, Dark web Hybrid, radioactive vibe,Extreme envy, black widow legend,Arctic Vibe, Ghost pearl, purple hammer urethane Hammer RAW ,think that’s about it on hammer DV8 brutal collision Brunswick evo solid and evo response hybrid
What do you think the purple Hammer to the Hammer Nu?

How fast is considered speed dominant vs rev dominant? I am talking lower end spectrum but be considered speed dominant. 15.5 per hour with 350 rev ? What is that considered ? My speed can fluctuate from 14.5 to 16.5 at entry I get confused with launch vs entry and which matter the most
Launch speed matters the most. If you’re typically 15.5 at the monitors with 350rpm, I would say you’re speed dominant.
@@brunsnick Thanks Nick you are the best! I watch every video since I saw your channel several months ago! Thanks again for the inspiration and information
Entry speed is strongly affected by how much the ball hooks. If the ball hits dry and hooks more it will lose more speed. On a house shot tossing the ball out will produce a lower entry speed than a more direct line.
I have both the NU Blue and the Rattler NU. The Blue is longer and stronger down lane, and also a few boards stronger than the Rattler overall. The Blue gives me a smoother option to a skid snap reactive, with being too early and round. The Rattler NU gives me a step up from urethane, being early but with a bit more recovery on the back end. Both of these balls fill that gap between urethane and reactives, so you don't switch from urethane to reactive and make that massive move inside. If you can only pick one... if you're Rev Dominant, pick the Rattler NU... and if you're Speed Dominant, pick the NU Blue
My suggestions were flip flopped from yours there at the end. But sound advice 👍🏻
Personally, my order goes Black Pearl, NU, Rattler NU.
I think it depends on your layout and preferred line line of play. I play very straight, 15 to 17 mph and mid revs.
Since my ball faces up quicker than most, I need the low hook equipment to prevent disaster
Hammer for me 😊
i wanna see him bowl with the lights off like it looks like in the intro
Brunswick needs to come out with a ball called the Gnu just to really make it confusing. 😅
Hey Nick, I need 2 symmetry balls. 1 med-heavy low RG-2nd Med oil can be 2.50 RG..Can you give me two names under the Brunswick, just to help me decide please. Oh my speed is 15.8-16.2 twiner most likely. Like Bill O’Neil
Hazmat Solid for the strong one. Columbia 300 Messenger Pearl for the medium.
Cool video talk tech bowling balls nick
Neither ball has an attractive color. It would have been better to use to old blue color.
Yes, I completely agree.
