  • We are On the Road Again, this time to recovery a Motorhome buried to the frame on the beach at Sand Hollow State Park. We have a yearly event called Trail Hero and so we have thousands of people visiting the area, the camping and parking spots are a premium. Sometimes people get in places they didn't intend to be, usually in vehicles that shouldn't be where they are at! Many times vendors come in after dark and the entire area is soft sand that can change from one day to the next. These guys were sponsors of the event and we are very grateful to have awesome supporters and vendors! We were very happy to help get pulled out and left them with a nice 1 inch Rope for the next time they get stuck! It was a good "first job" for the 5 ton and now we just need to get more gear in the beast. Thanks for coming along for the ride. As always, Thanks for Watching Casey

He puts the cruise control on and goes to the back to make tea.Of course the vehicle crashed but the driver took Winebago to court and sued them for damages as they had not stated in the owners manual that cruise control does not steer the vehicle.
    He won the case.

I don’t live far from there it’s easy to get yourself in a bad situation at sand hollow. The sand looks solid packed then you drive on it and start sinking. I do agree that’s a giant rv to drive on the sand but I can see someone not familiar with the sand there thinking it’s solid enough to support them. I’ve been close to getting stuck in my Subaru work car a few times. The sand at sand hollow I always say is like micro ball bearings it looks safe to drive in but it’s some soft slippery sand. You definitely need a 4wd and need to air down and have some recovery equipment before exploring too far at sand hollow.

Heh heh heh, someone's decision making skills MAY be lacking! With that behemoth, I'd avoid gravel, let alone a nice fluffy beach! Good pull!

If there ever was a right tool for the job...! That 6WD is just awsome, I absolutely dig it. And who knows, it might turn out to be a very good investment. Between the Nodwell, the Kaiser (how great is that name by the way :D) and your knowledge of the area/offroading in general, you now can provide services pretty much no one can in your area (I reckon). Plus you actually are a mechanic and can fix stuff properly on the fly if need be (btw, how about using the space on the back of the 6WD to put a little mobile workshop/workstation on there? That weight over the rear axles might come in handy anyways). You might end up being the first call for truck and motorhome recoveries.

I have passed on quite a few in the past. Although we have used Tractors and Multiple vehicles for recoveries similar to this. The right tool in the end costs the customer less! Instead of hours winching and multiple vehicles you bring the right tool for the job and get it done. The fewer people and equipment makes a job scene much safer. Less exposure to injury or accidents.

THATS AWESOME, YOU SHOULD TRY ADDING WEIGHT TO THE 6X6 LIKE A GIANT BOLDER, OR SOMETHING THAT 6X6 IS A MEAN MACHINE IT WILL HANDLE IT. PLUS THE EXTRA WEIGHT.

I wasn't sure what that military truck was going to used for.... Well for the largest vehicle recovered in the videos at Sand Hollow of course! Impressive! I think you might need one of those AG rated 30,000lbs capacity ropes for that truck.

The right tool for the job no doubt. Notice my crack at Yankum.....got to get a real rope on the old girl. I was just out joy rider for the Trail Hero event when they flagged me down. They had just been talking about how they need a 6x6 even though they had the Unimog. It only weighs about 11k.
