In theory , trophies are great. When a developer implements them correctly it gives you interesting goals and challenges inside the game and gives you a reason to play a few more times. Unfortunately half of the trophies are boring as hell especially if you are forced to grind online.
Exactly, the trophies that I liked the most were the ones that make you play the game differently of how you would play it normaly. That makes you enjoy the game in other ways, but sadly those trophies are the exception.
Honestly, online trophies/achievements are the reason I gave up on it a long time ago personally. I'm kinda alright with grinds in single-player as, while it might not be fun all the time, I can at least do it at my own pace but online achievements? Nah, I'm good. Especially the ones like "Get Rank 1 in *insert region here*" or "Come in first place in every ranked map."
Trophies that require you to grind online are the worst, though it depends on what the achievement is exactly. There will never be a better trophy/achievement implementation better than the 360 era, with Halo 3 being the crowning jewel in my mind. There will never be a greater reward for achievement hunting in all of gaming than the recon armor since you were able to show off your drip in online matches.
Agreed. There are games like the last of us or gta IV and V that I would love to plat and I dont want to because of the amount of effort you need to get them. Especially when you have to coordinate with other people. I remember gta having you to level up to like level 250 which mean 150+ hours of grinding... Just... Why?
@@pedrosilvaproductions Oof that's a LOT of grinding haha. See that's not even challenging either. You're being awarded a trophy for lingering really. It's very frustrating that these types of trophies make a platinum basically unobtainable. The worst one I remember off the top of my head was "Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway" where you had to play every day for a year. Online trophies are really lame too if the player base does off quickly. I know I've started games and there's just no way to get a trophy becuase you cant find enough people to play.
This is the first thing I noticed and appreciated after buying my switch. There were no achievements and I found myself enjoying the games for what they were again.
@@estivee Yeah you are kinda toxic if trophies are your prime motivation to play games. You might also be one of those alpha males who does things only to achieve compliments from fellow alpha dudes and supplements cooks.
@@niemand7811 weird assumption to make, but ok. I did call myself out on my bullshit, I know it's a weird habit to not play games cause they lack trophies. Anyway, I go to the gym like twice a week in order to feel good, not to get compliments from "alpha males".
@@niemand7811trophies isn't the main reason I play games but they are still important to me. I don't like them to show off I like them cause I just find injoyment of getting rewards on my profile for completing task in my games. I still use my switch alot due to how good the exclusives are but their are some games I think to myself " man I was there was a way to platinum this game " mostly with the zelda series. So usually if it isn't a Nintendo exclusive I'm getting it on my ps5 so that I can platinum. Some of my most notable platinum that I had a really good time platinum are cuphead, spiderman 1 and 2, and the crash trilogy
So true. The main reason I also gave up on trophy hunting is because it took the fun out of the experience entirely. Video games became busy work instead of entertainment, since then I've given up on trophy hunting and only occasionally platinum a game but only if I love the game or find the platinum journey to be enjoyable and my experience has improved exponentially ever since I stopped trophy hunting.
They become busy work because you make it busy work. For example I did the 157 side ops in MGSV like this. Did 50 throughout the story, then did 10 for 9 days and the the rest on the 11th day. I still had fun and could play other games.
@@angel.3006 That’s not a good example though. If you like the core gameplay of MGSV, that trophy could actually be fun. There are plenty of genuinely terrible trophies that no matter how you look at it, would be considered as “busy work” by almost everyone. There are also lots of trophies that make you do optional tasks which are completely different from the main content of the game, and a lot of people can dislike said content. There are plenty of good examples of bad trophies in this video, ranging from collectible based trophies, missable trophies, online trophies and grind based trophies. For collectible based trophies, I reckon at least 99% of the people who bothered to collect all nuclear waste in GTA V did not have a fun time doing so. People buy GTA to complete heists, become a successful criminal, drive and explore a vibrant city. They do not buy GTA to slowly steer a 20mph submarine around half an entire state. This is busy work, not entertainment. As for missable trophies, I’m sure most people do not prefer constantly referring to and religiously following a massive wall of text on a guide on the internet or dedicating hours of their life to watching videos on RUclips to account for missables, over actually playing the game. This additional requirement of research is busy work, not entertainment. I’m gonna skip over online trophies because the poster of the video already explained how they can be bad, through server shutdowns, unalive servers, etc. For grind based trophies, I don’t see many people actually running 960km on foot in Dying Light 2. Most people are going to be jumping around, paragliding and using the grappling hook, AKA doing parkour because it is literally a core mechanic of the game. I beat the game 3 times and had just over 300km, despite deliberately running on foot for a good chunk of time. I’d have to play the game at least 10 times over, or completely ignore one of the biggest mechanics in this game if I were to reach 960km legitimately. People buy Dying Light to do parkour and unalive hordes of zombies, not run around in circles for hundreds of kilometres. Most people are going to rubberband their controller to run around in circles for the remaining few hundred kilometres, which is fair enough. I wasn’t even playing the game at that point, I was just watching RUclips and doing other things when I could have actually played a game instead, had this terrible trophy not existed. Another example of a much unneeded grind based trophy was driving 1000 miles in the Jimmy’s Vendetta DLC of Mafia 2. Not only is the DLC just plain bad, but I think I had around 10 miles driven by the time I beat it. I would have to play this DLC, quite literally, 100 times to get this trophy. Alternatives would be driving up and down a highway thousands of times, or rubberbanding your controller after glitching under the map. People buy Mafia to play as a mafia member, or do work for them, not drive up and down a highway thousands of times for virtually no reason. Again, busy work, not entertainment. One good example of a franchise with lots of optional content a lot of people may not like, required for trophies/achievements would be the Yakuza/Like A Dragon series. The main premise of these games is to presume the role of a superhuman and defeat criminal organisations. However, some trophies require you to do completely different things, like winning in incredibly rigged gambling games like blackjack, roulette, poker, riichi mahjong, cho-han, oicho-kabu, koi-koi, doing miscellaneous activities like managing a cabaret club, real estate, a baseball team, a robotics club and engaging in activities like fishing, go-karting, playing retro arcade games and eating every single entire menu item in every single restaurant/food store in the game. Not everyone is going to like all of these activities. To most people, doing all of this optional content would be considered as busy work, because they are doing lots of different things they don’t like in order to get trophies. TLDR, I could go on and on for literal hours, showing examples of trophies that are considered as “busy work” and “not entertaining” by virtually everyone, because it’s true. Saying that it is the player’s fault for considering specific trophies as “busy work” is ignorant because there are so many examples of bad trophies and you are choosing to ignore them and every bit of valid criticism of said trophies.
Such a good video well done! As a completionist from back in the 90's on my N64, I'm finding less and less time these days to deal with stupid grinds. I only attempt 100% on games I love and always prioritize whatever sounds fun to me at the time. If that means stopping my grind on 100%ing a game to play a new one, then so be it. I started typing this before I hit your number 5 reason and it looks like we both arrived at the same destination. Good on you to value your time from now on! Great insights on a true trophy/achieve hunter. And yes, screw MP achievements; That Rayman achievement was crazy! Reminds me of mount hunting in WoW and repeating boring dungeons for a 0.1% chance drops on multiple characters.
Thank you so much! I think that the key is what you said, as time passes, the harder it gets to play video games in general, and we should always make sure that we invest our time properly by doing the things we love the most. And yes, the Rayman´s trophy was crazy, it almost makes me wonder how I didn´t decide to gave up trophies before finishing that platinum XD Thank you for the support!
@@POIUYTREWQ62 absolutely, man. I'm certain those folk with 7k platinums spent 17 cents on 'tap the Mayo jar' because they just love high quality games.
That's what killed trophy hunting very quickly for me, the leaderboard is a giant fraud full of fake boring game. How can you compete people who get 100 plat a day of the same boring game lmao.
Online trophies are a killer alright, it's essentially a time limit on a game. Once the time is up. No platinum ever. Since I don't play alot of games like I used too, trophy hunting is my way of getting value out of what I play now. Great video
Absolutely, and if you enjoy playing old games from ps3, you run into that problem a lot. That's why I paid special attention before jumping into those kind of games, so I wouldn't start playing a game which platinum is no longer obtainable. Thanks for the comment! I'm glad that you liked the video!
@@signout932depends on the game type and how big and active the player base are. As an example from me I got Need for Speed shift 2, 3 years after initial release but was unable to platinum as there was barely any online races going on. Servers are now offline. Forever incomplete but that's the nature with online trophies.
I've been a trophy hunter since they were released back in 06/07 and I 100% agree with everything you've said. Personally, I gave up chasing them about 2 years back for similar reasons. I'll still get the platinum if I'm enjoying the game and it's not a chore, but I'm not afraid to play games with unachievable platinums anymore.
Ive got 150 platinums. Recently gave up getting them i was finding myself playing games a certain way & not how i wanted to play them. Since then I've had much more fun i never look at them now just play how i want finish the game & move onto the next one.
This video was amazing, honestly really well put together. At first for me trophies were great and I loved it. My first platinum trophy was lollipop chainsaw and that’s what lead me to become a trophy hunter. What was fun at first unfortunately started to ruin my gaming experience. Obviously I can’t speak for others but for me I can say that I would look up guides risking spoilers for platinums and checking how long games would require me to play in order for me to achieve platinums causing me to avoid certain games. Some games I would grind hours and hours for 1 trophy making me get sick of the game. I turned off the trophies popping up and I’ve regained the enjoyment I used to have were I would play a game for what it is with just beating the game as my main objective getting through tons of games off my backlog. If I liked a game enough I then would go for the platinum trophy and have been doing it like this ever since
Thank you for the support! That´s something I forgot to mention too, how easy is to get sick of a game that otherwise you would´ve love just because of the trophies. I can´t count the amount of games that were ruined for me just because of how sick I got of them because of the platinum. After I decided to give up trophies I started to do the same thing that you mentioned, just having the goal of finishing the game, and I´m enjoying video games a lot more since then, and I´m glad to hear that you are doing too!
I used to be a Trophy /achivement Hunter back on my PS3 and 360 days. Always avoided online trophies. Nowadays i still hunt but only on games i realy enjoy and even then i often dont do the grind ones. On top of that, and most importantly... I never hunt on my first playthrough. No matter how long the game is. Loved the vídeo btw
Thank you! I'm glad that you liked the video! I also think that enjoying the first playthrough at your own pace should be a must, but I personally always ended up checking a guide to be aware of missable trophies XD
I love playing games to enjoy but yes either I look up guides because I want to keep playing the game to grind or just if the games are first time to complete for the sake of time.
As a trophy hunter myself, I agree with what you said and It's totally a-okay to quit if you're not having fun with them. If you're not having fun, then why bother? I still trophy hunt to this day but because I enjoy the games I play - for the most part, there are a few I didn't, but they're a small minority - and I will stop only when I feel like it. I have nothing to show, nothing to prove, nothing to compare: I do them for myself, and I don't care to look for the rarest trophies because they're rare. There will eventually be the day I'll tackle, say, Super Meat Boy, I am Bread, or even Crypt of the Necrodancer. But that day is not today! As for your points, I only want to say this: 1) I don't mind collectibles honestly. I do hate when they're missable yes, but they're not always missable and sometimes the game allows you to return to the stage and complete it. I did use a guide for a game's collectible a while ago but it wasn't such a big deal, I only did it because the place was hard to navigate - and because of few missables. I think there are good ways and bad ways to make them work. Making them missable is one of the bad ones! 2) Aaahh, Missables, my second enemy after the online. As a trophy hunter who often tackles jrpgs, Missables are the first thing I look for. One thing is replaying a 20 hour game...another is replaying a 100+ hour jrpg with tons of missables from the get-go, that ABSOLUTELY requires a guide (Looking at you, Trails of Cold Steel games!). Honestly I have no comment: it's spot on! 3) Fuck online Trophies. Nothing else to say 4) Okay I will be the absolute minority in this, but I actually don't hate grinds in games. I don't actually adore them or anything but grinding trophies are the least problematic of the bunch imho, especially if you take your time. You know, do X a day, then, X another day, and so on. Eventually you'll reach to your goal and you're finished! Like, I'm currently working over Deep Rock Galactic trophies, and the final ones are all about grinding promotions...but hey I like the game and I don't care if I'll take 500 hours, if the game is fun. Again, if it's not fun, then why bother? 5) This is probably complicated for me too, because I always try to prioritize the enjoyment factor before actually caring for the trophies - that's why I have lots of unobtainables in my account. But I can't deny that I still do look at them from time to time, and they can deter me to try a game...but not always. For one I am extremely picky with what games I wanna buy, secondly if the game has a hard list then I know I'll eventually tackle it, but it doesn't need to be right now (I finished the resident evil remake last year, but I haven't done all trophis yet. Meanwhile I finished El Shaddai after years of pause!). Still, you're also right: if it wasn't for trophies I wouldn't have discovered so many things: some games were much better when trying to go for 100%, not just because they were short but because they hid a lot of stuff behind. (FOTNS: Lost Paradise is a shitty game if you play for the story, but becomes 100% better if you start playing the postgame. It's like an entirely new game!). Plus being able to complete games that I once considered impossible was a really refreshing thing to see, like how I managed to platinum the original Devil May Cry many years after playing it on ps2, where I played it on easy! It's stuff like this that makes you think "I really got better", and this is why I like trophy hunting. I like to see how far I'll go on my next hunt!
Usually I'll manage things like this: 1st playtrough = enjoy the game going blind. Following playtroughs = trophy hunting. This way you'll enjoy the game for what it is and then enjoy it again by discovering new things about it. Trophies are good ways to uncover secrets and extend duration in our favorite games.
I got into achievement hunting on PC (steam) a couple years ago. To keep my sanity I will usually play a game once without worrying about achievements just so I can enjoy it. If i really like the game then i will go for the completion if it is reasonable. I also only care about the number of game completions and not the average completion rate on my profile. That’s another way to ruin it for yourself. It needs to be fun first. Great video man 👍
@@valleypandathere's ways to do that on console too, so what? you know you got those achievementes and worked for them, the hours and the spread of unlocks tell the story too, its easy to tell who hacked and who didnt
That ending to this video was really pulling brother great work. I’m a new trophy hunter, started about 4 or 5 months ago. I’ve only accumulated 17 platinum’s Elden ring being my first, GTA Trilogy being my most recent and Mafia 3 and Kena being my most proud platinums. It’s very addicting. And all I have to say about it is. If u really like that game- try getting the platinum and 100% it, see if u still like that game. 9/10 u wont. 😂 but damn it when u look back on that 100+ hour journey and remember all those sweat and tears u put into that game, it makes it all worth it.
I did not expect Rayman's trophy to be talked about in this video. That trophy was the one that broke me. When I did the math to see how long it would take me to get that trophy I realized that trophy hunting was dumb in a lot of games. Now, I look at trophies after finishing the game and if I can get the platinum I go for it but if it is something dumb I dont even try
@@angel.3006we don't mind challenging trophies look at crash 4 that game is very hard and challenging arguably even more challenging but for Rayman it not really that the achievement is hard it's that it is a huge grind to be able to get it and requires yout to play everyday for for over a month. For a 2d platformor that's insanely dumb
Fantastic video, I never felt so called out - especially on the part 5 which sure hurts me the most. These days really trying to just stop caring about achievements/trophies and just enjoying games for what they are instead of losing my sanity over some useless checklists. For some being a completionist is truly an addiction ^^"
Remember, at the end of the day they are faux accomplishments and nobody cares, except for you. I might be curious if a friend beat the same game as me but I couldn't care less about what achievements or trophies they got. I would want to talk about our experiences with said game, not compare gamerscores or trophies. Games are too long as it is. Nobody will be able to play everything they want before they die and get every platinum trophy along the way. I know I would get old and regret wasting all that extra time when I could have played through other games.
You actually gave valid points about not wanting to hunt for trophies. I started hunting for them in 2020 and have gotten a couple of plats too along the way it’s been fun however I have felt some disappointment in getting the plat for Metro redux, there was so many collectibles and things I had to do on the second playthrough that I didn’t give my self enough time to enjoy the game, also I’ve gotten rather tired of playing new games to potentially get more platinums - that’s why for the past month I have been replaying an old game that I love and have platinumed it a few years ago and I’m having a blast, feels like a weight of sorts have been lifted off my shoulders not to think about getting a trophy most of the time aha
Assassin creed Valhalla made me quit trophy hunting. I played probably about 200 to get the platinum. I have a lot of hard platinum. We gotta remember to enjoy games
Elden Ring was a great game to max out and get a platinum. The trophies didn't have unreasonable requirements and I loved the game anyway, so it didn't feel like a grind. I do care about trophies a lot, but we shouldn't cross the limit when playing stops being enjoyable or when we make decisions about buying and playing a game or not, based only on the possibility to get trophies.
@@AdriWalkedX99 Exactly! It didn't feel like a grind (even though I had to beat the game three times), more like exploring the game fully, which I enjoyed anyway.
There’s a fine line between enjoying collecting trophies & being obsessed with them. The key thing to remember is that they don’t matter - collect what you enjoy & find a happy balance. And nobody really cares about incomplete games on your trophy list, so why should you?
I have 41 platinum trophies, I'll stop hunting when I reach 101 platinums. I'd probably be close by now if it weren't for online trophies. I've got every offline trophy for every WWE game I've played, that's like 13 platinums I've been screwed out of. Like you, I also got screwed out of saints row 3's platinum, thankfully the remaster doesn't have that trophy.
“Make sure you do it for yourself”. This is me. I enjoy trophy hunting. As a veteran gamer, it’s nice to be able to keep a record of your gaming achievements. And, as you also mentioned, trophy hunting helped me play more games that I would never normally choose. I was stuck playing GTAO almost exclusively for 11 years. After gaining its platinum for the 3rd time I was totally bored and needed to expand my horizons. Trophy hunting helped me with this.
Good video. Recognised a lot of what you were saying from my own experience. As a veteran completionist, achievements on Xbox 360 seemed like a great idea. It started as competition between friends but I soon outstripped them and never looked back. I began to question myself when arranging boosting matches for multiplayer achievements but it took the bricking of my original HDD to really make me take stock. They still control my gaming in many subtle ways but never will they hold the same sway over me again.
As someone who has been gaming before the existence of achievements or trophies they never really pulled me in. For me it's just someone else telling me when I'm done with the game and Imo the person playing the game should be the one and only person who decides that.
My first platinum trophy was Resident Evil 5 back in the PS3 era. It was one of the most fun I've had playing with my cousin and we would challenge ourselves by replaying the game over and over with added challenges (i.e unupgraded handgun + knife only). I only decided to platinum the game because I really love the game. I suggest people to play the game first without looking at a guide to really experience it and discover hidden secrets. Only after your first playthrough and you still wanna play some more, I would then start trophy hunting. For example, I've almost platinumed all souls games and I always did a first playthrough without a guide which took me 80+ hours. Yeah some people might say I've wasted 80 hours on the first playthrough for missing side quests, but I guarantee that I've had more fun in those 80 hours than to follow a guide for 20-30 hours to get everything.
I would call myself a part time trophy hunter. I only have 43 platinums. I like to play a game first without checking the trophy list and I never watch videos or reviews before I play a game. Trophies are always at the back of my mind but I can still enjoy a game this way.
Trophy hunting has always been fun for me, I think I just always need some sort of goal in a game besides *get to the end*. Even when I was younger I use to try stuff like playing a game with only a pistol or trying to collect everything I could find. Trophies just give me a way to discover new challenges or parts of games i wouldn't see casually. I definitely have a shifted mindset from how I use to feel about them. I have a couple bad games that I only played for trophies on my profile, but I felt so bad about them that I vowed never to do it again, and I've enjoyed it more than ever before.
I loved this video! Trophies/Achievements used to ben fun challenges in most games, but they became a grindfest that sucked the fun out of the game, I was into trophy hunting until I realized I wasn't having fun playing anymore, it got to the point where before starting any game I looked up the trophy list before doing so just to make sure I could 100% the game causing me to miss a lot of great games because of this. On the other side thanks to boosting sessions I met many great people who I still play with to this day. My recommendation is, just forget about the trophies when you are starting a new game, enjoy the game, and if it's a game that you really like then go for it, and 100% that game. I remember finishing games for the second time like NFS The Run and God Of War 3, which I really liked, to 100% them but it was different because I really enjoyed playing through those games again. Games are supposed to be fun, not a checklist of things to do.
Thanks! I´m glad that you liked the video! I actually had a very similar experience as you did. What started as a fun challenge ended up been an obsession that killed the enjoyment for me. I´m glad that we managed to get over that obsession and started enjoying games again!
About a month ago, I willingly deleted over 2000+ hours worth of save game data from my PSN account completely...after pondering how many of those hours did I actually enjoy each game, vs how many hours I spent wasting on hunting trophies. Normally I felt a sense of pride in how many hours I put into a game, but after seeing how many hours I sank into the games I played the most, sadness and regret came over me instead. And here's the kicker. I don't regret having done it one bit. I hardly play my PS4 anymore now and when I do, I just play to play. But I do make one exception...the Vanquish platinum! Hardest gaming feat I ever had and ever will accomplish. Victory after hundreds of losses was well worth every minute I put into it. It was downhill from there, I figured. Thank you for being open and honest about this. As a former trophy myself, I understand. Just play for the joy of playing. No one has anything to prove. We can just enjoy gaming for what it is and has been to each and every one of us!
I like to play games and I like trophy hunting. But I put actually playing and having fun infront of the trophies ... it took me some time to learn that to be honest but it isn't impossible.
Currently playing persona 3 portable, It came out one week ago. I have 75 hours, I've been wanting to play this game for years and because it's my favorite franchise of all time I want to get the plat, I have 2 trophies left and have put in 25 hours of straight xp grinding for these bosses. I'm genuinely so burnt out, seeing this vid hurts man 😭
Trophies, provided they're handled properly, can serve as a convenient metric of your progress, as well as entice you to try fun things you might not have thought of otherwise (Mosh Pit in Assassin's Creed Revelations being a prime example). But with very few exceptions, there's *always* a few that are either outrageous difficult or outrageously chancy. There was that one trophy in one of the Project Divas which required getting all the loading pictures, and I swear I spent two hours getting _that one last freaking picture._ I pity anyone who feels a need to get them all. I can't think of anything more certain to completely ruin the game for you.
This feeling you have about it sucking the fun out of games is how I feel about "battlepasses". They've become grinds designed to keep you entrenched into a single game and they usually have time limits. Found myself forcing myself to play just to feel like I didn't "waste" my money-
I’m getting sick of them honestly. I have around 200 Plats and I think I’m going to stop hunting them. I’m having more fun now that I’m not worried about them as much.
I mainly trophy hunt on the PS Vita to show what games are on the platform. I got easy platinum trophies but I have harder ones like Rayman Legends, Battle of Z, Ragnarok Odyssey Ace, and Earth Defense Force Portable 2017. I also got the platinum trophy for Killzone Mercenary last year before their servers shut down.
Personaly I only go for platinum trophy when I enjoy game so much that I wanna squize every single addicional moment of playing it I could. Did that with Bloodborne (even after getting plat I was still playing it), God of War IV and Until Dawn (had a lot of fun in doing run where every character dies in worst and most brutal way possible). Right now I'm thinking about getting a platinum in Nier (one of the best games I've ever played) but grind there is insane lmao
The only time i had fun doing online trophies is when i was getting the platinum for the last of us i really liked the multiplayer in that game, even when i got the trophies i kept playing for months.
Same! I loved it even though I had to start from the beginning again because my whole camp died when I was missing just one week to finish the first trophy XD but I didn't mind because the multiplayer was awesome.
I always tried getting as many throphies as i could from a young age i have like 27 platinums and i mostly go for games i enjoy playing time and the will to grind are huge factors
I have 41 platinums. Nowadays, I only platinum a game if I really enjoy it and want to 100%, like the souls games, the last of us, etc. I grew up on N64 and PS1 platformers, so completion is nailed into my soul. Some lists bug me though. Slay the Spire is a game I ADORE, but goddamn the luck involved in some of the trophies
I feel this i basically stopped getting all achievements but in some games i do it still. The resident evil games have so good achievements its insane its so fun.
Ah yes, my hobby for a few years. I'm still trophy hunting. But not taking it too serioustly. I decided to only hunt trophies for hard games, like Dark Souls. I spent a few months finishing DS3 with 30 FPS. Next is Bloodbourne. And I don't want to do that on 30 FPS after my Dark Souls 3 run. So I'm waiting for a remaster or something. But right now I'm going the Metro series. But as you said; I'm trying not to ruin my experience by fixating on trophies. So my code of conduct is: Play through the game how I want; trophy hunt after. This is inconvinient sometimes, but it works. Nice video!
I like trophy hunting, but I always make sure I enjoy the first playthrough and THEN if I like the game enough I'll grind those up or do a 2nd playthrough to get those I missed. Btw, I discovered a website called Retroachievements that gives achievements to do in retro games
Oh, I had no idea of that website, I just gave it a look and it seems really interesting. The achievements seem reassonable for the few games that I just checked and there are a lot of games. Thanks for sharing! I'll give it a closer look later.
I used to be heavy on achievement hunting, completing any game just for the dopamine hit. Making me feel good about myself as if it was a sense of accomplishment. Then, when my real-world life fell apart, that's when everything hit me, everything you explained in your video resonated with that era of my life.
Awesome vid dude. Literally all these reasons are why at some points I have had massive burnt out with trophies especially missables, the idea that I have to look at a guide fully in depth before I play a game for the first time or spend another 20-30h playing the story again really grind on me
After many years of collecting Achivements and trophies, I finally had to give up on them. It got to the point that I was playing while video guides were going on the phone so I could Platinum the game quickly. I decided to take a break and play Starfield with the Achivements disabled and I was having fun. Prior to that, I was playing the Ps3 all year while ignoring my awesome Ps5 games just to trophy hunt. I've since disabled trophy notifications too. I don't even want to trophy hunt or achievement hunt in games I love cause I know it will just suck me back into the hobby. I'm 30 now, married, and have a full time job. I don't have the free time I did as a teenager. I don't want to waste it anymore on digital "accomplishments".
man ill never forget when pvzgw 2 came to steam so i got it and there where 7 achievements you just cant get, i was so mad i thought about quitting the game but i got over it
You are free to do what you want. I still trophy hunt, have been since 2015. 328 platinums to my name. Will do the Rayman Legends platinum that you hated. Even if it takes three to four months. You do you. You moved on, and it sounds like most people commenting have moved on as well. I left RuneScape and World of Warcraft. Didn’t like them anymore. But I still enjoy trophy hunting. Be yourself and don’t compare you to others. That’s my advise to you and anyone on the fence on whether or not they should quit a hobby.
Great topic, I recently feel the same way and have come up with the same conclusions. I also felt that hunting trophies made me gravitate to easier shorter games that I would use to complete community events. Some of them were just crap that I regret playing. Now I want to explore and see all the great things I have put off to the side or rushed through before because I used a guide.
My biggest beef with multiplayer trophies is there are always players who get the game day one and only play multiplayer and after a short time they dominate the whole multiplayer scene and if you come across them while playing you can kiss your progress goodbye on win 50 multiplayer games in a row type trophies.
I prefer Xbox Achievements. At first I was all about trophy hunting (ten years ago) but there's so many redundant, boring, irritating or obnoxious ones. Trophies hidden behind the multiplayer paywall are annoying as well. On the Xbox, I never feel compelled to get 1000/1000 gamescore. But I do aim for the rare achievements (which pop with a diamond). Usually the difficulty related ones. That way I get the satisfaction, but not the boredom.
I generally had a positive experience with game boosting sessions. But obviously I try to avoid online games as much as possible for getting trophies/achievements.
That's exactly what I'm doing since i started hunting platinum trophies the first playthrough is to experience the game and enjoy the story and to test if wanted to have the platinum or not it's so much fun to do it that way
Im no trophy hunter, but I've hunted some tophies/achievements throughout many years of playing games. Hunting down randoms inside the game itself only to have people quit early, or dip once they finish theirs is heart wrenching (Payday 2; nightmare). I don't hunt achievements in general, but I do occasionally find a fun game with a fun 100% goal (Stardew Valley), or I just happen to play the game so much I end up with nearly 100% anyways (Warframe). So basically I have my bragging rights, but only for games I really like.
I totally agree with you. I am not ashamed to have incomplete trophies for many games, especially those with multiplayer requirement (I don't enjoy playing online). In example, The Last of Us, an awesome game, however my trophy list will be full except of the multiplayer mode, and for the PS3 version the servers are shut down already.
I used to collect trophies. It never prevented me from playing games. I played what I felt like, but still, I got burned out in 2015. I got so angry at a game that I quit trophy hunting then and there. My PS3 library had grown so big and trophy hunting was in a way of playing them. It was taking too much of my time. Maybe my dumbest trophy to hunt was killing all the pigeons in GTA4. It took me 3 days 🤦♀️
Brilliant video. I totally agree with everything you say here. Personally, I think achievements and trophies need changing. My suggestion is that a trophy gor example should be awarded for completing a chapter in a game. It then becomes a memory stamp for the game when you look back. Si the chapter can be completed on any difficulty and no forcing of collecting items etc.
Thx for the laughs😂 I got into trophy hunting when I platinum’ed call of duty world at war. I still have flashbacks of running from a million or so grenades
You're welcome 😂😂 I would've loved to play WaW but I wasn't able to find a copy, but I did get the platinum for the Modern Warfare original trilogy, so yeah, I can feel your pain XD
Man I just got the platinum for star ocean tlh, and that was the greatest grind I did in my live. It was a one of a kind thing caus I just wanted to do it and I don't care much about my score otherwise. So I have the same mindset as you have adapted now and can say it's really comfy like this ^^
I only trophy/achievement hunt easy ones i know I can do or if I actually care about the game. Trophy hunting fallout 3 had me exploring areas i'd probably never have seen if there wasnt an a trophy tied to those bobbleheads. I'd have never played a game above easy difficulty if not for trophies either. Mass Effect 2 and 3 on insanity helped me make great builds for ME3 Multiplayer.
Stopped going for trophies when playstation got corrupted and logged in to find I had to recomplete assassin's creed for one trophy that didn't save and it was the one that meant you need to complete the whole game again looking for glyphs.
Outstanding video! Thank you for making it and sharing it. Me personally I only attempt to 100% or platinum games I love or would enjoy playing longer, and that don't have unreasonable tasks like you mentioned in this video. My short list that I've done is Sonic Adventure 2 Battle, Super Mario Galaxy 1 and 2, Super Mario 3D World, Final Fantasy XV, and most recently Sonic Frontiers. I know there are several more, but I don't remember as they don't have trophy or completion tracking systems lol I remember the Angry Video Game Nerd talking about wanting to "Complete that love" in reference to fully completing a game he loved, and that's how I feel about the decision to 100% complete/platinum a game or not. Random story, but I also remember being 1 step away from 100 percenting Wind Waker HD, but their was some post game, overwrite save shenanigans on the final screen that confused me, and I ended up deleting my completed game save out of confusion...A tough day. That aside, I'm glad you've found what works for you, and I hope you continue to enjoy video games!
Thank you for the support! I'm so glad that you liked the video! 😊 I like that philosophy of doing 100% of games that you love, it's a good way of expanding your experiencie with the game. It's heartbreaking what happend to you with wind waker, if it was me, I would be so mad I would probably take a very long time until I was able to even play the game again XD but at least you were able to enjoy pretty much everything that the game had to offer!
Thank you for the video! I’m also an achievement hunter and I’ve been thinking about leaving it. I totally relate to your experience with this. The things that I’ve done for some of the achievements that I have… Thank you for your encouragement, I am finding it to be like an addiction so I’m making me journey now to leave them for good.
I'm glad that the video helped you to make a decision! At the end of the day, is all about considering what things are worth our time, and feeling happy with the decision we make
I honestly never counted online trophies to be part of the list. I don't care what it says on my screen, if I did all the non-online one, it's a platinum for me Switching to PC put an halt to my quest cause trophies/achievements aren't as in your face as they can be on consoles and I honestly started enjoying my playthrough more cause of it. I can not imagine playing something like RDR2 with trophies in mind for example Oh and you're a true legend for getting the rayman platinum, I tried it at first until I reached 1500 and saw what was left to do... mad props
I got you. Switching to PC was one of the best things that I could do, not only because of the obvious advantages that it has over a console, but also because I was able to enjoy games way better due to how little I cared about achievements there. And thanks, Rayman Legends was a great game but that grind was too much XD, but I'm glad that it didn't ruin the overall experiencie, I still love the game.
I'm not a huge Trophy Hunter but I like to get them if I can. I recently picked up Mount and Blade Bannerlord for PS4 and was so disappointed to find all of the online Trophies, it really sucks to know you'll never get a Platinum to a game you really enjoy.
21:50 That statement is very true. I remember grinding games every day, getting hardcore and lengthy platinums just to keep my 40th - 50th place among trophyhunters in my country and get even higher (yes, I had no life). But then I've discovered much more interesting things in real life, started working on my hobbies, trying to get a job, doing studies for university etc. In short, I've had to take a break from trophyhunting. Upon returning to check the board I've found myself hundreds places below from where I've been. Immediately I decided to win back everything, but then, after like 15 seconds, it came to me: how often do we actually look and remember people even on top of the scoreboards? Probably never, because it's always about ego: to see yourself on top. I was still checking the scoreboard from time to time and I admit it: it was kinda painful to watch your account go down day by day. But after some time I've stopped caring about it at all. Instead I was doing some guides, trophy translations and other things that were a lot more creative. Part of the reason was switching from PlayStation to PC where there are no platinums at all. Of course I'm still earning achievements if I can and if I know it's easy just by playing the game and not grinding or looking for collectables. But I surely won't spend hours or days to get a single especially stupid one like I did before. Last platinum I've got was RDR II, I guess, so it says a lot. It literally sucked all the enjoyment from trophyhunting for me, since it includes all the reasons that are stated in this video. By the end of the journey I was so exhausted and didn't feel anything: absolutely no excitment which I got from previous platinums. So yeah, listen to Adri, - he knows what he's talking about. Every trophyhunter will come to the same realization sooner or later. And it better be sooner. No more millions of internet tabs with maps of collectables or trophy roadmaps. Finally Dobby is free.
Thank you for sharing your story! I really felt what you said about the leaderboards. For anyone that has been hunting trophies for a while, it hurts to get into your PSNP account and see that the numbers are on red, it happens to me too even to this day, but that bad feeling goes away just if you keep scrolling and see all the hard work that you made at some point. I personally think that the satisfaction that comes from "I really worked hard for this and managed to get it done" is greater and healthier than the one that comes from "I managed to do this and now I´m above many people". That´s why I keep getting achievements now on PC, just like you, because I still enjoy some of the hard work that you have to put into some games, but I only do it if it´s enjoyable or if it satisfies me enough when I´m done. Also, no wonder why your last platinum was RDR2, that has always been one of those games that if I would´ve attempted, I would´ve quited right there and then XD. It has everything I personally dislike from trophy hunting. Anyway, I´m glad that you made that decision and that now you are able to enjoy videogames in a healthier way!
Muy buen video amigo, muy bien explicado, estuve bastante de acuerdo sobretodo con los coleccionables, cuando el juego te los muestra en el mapa son algo divertido y relajante pero cuando no, en verdad te quita las ganas de platinarlo
I've been seeing a lot of trophy related videos on my feed, likely since I've been looking up guides lately for a couple of games I'm trying to platinum. I'll tell you how I feel about trophies, bear with me for a bit as this will be a long comment. As of now I have three platinums on my PSN account - FFXV, obtained in 2016 just a few days after launch (had a head start with an early copy) God of War obtained within a week after launch in 2018 and Bloodborne in early 2022, which took me 6 years. Why 6 years? Because I lost my original NG+ save file after my first PS4 died and I was very disappointed I lost all that progress and only sporadically played the game with a few different saves until last year when I decided I'd finally get the platinum. It was my most satisfying one. Right now I'm working on the Assassin's Creed 2 trophy since I bought the Ezio Collection about 3 days ago. I'm already halfway there. It's actually a trophy I acquired way back in 2009 when I bought the game for my PS3 but unfortunately I haven't had a working PS3 for years and I've long since lost all my login info and my email associated with my old PSN account. On that account the other platinums I had were for Prince of Persia 08 and Resident Evil 5. All very easy platinums. I had all the SP trophies for Uncharted 2 on this account as well but my Internet connection was very slow back then so I missed out on the three MP trophies you needed for the platinum. I bought the Nathan Drake Collection in the middle of last year and I intend to get the platinum for all three games. I bought DMC4 SE alongside the Ezio Collection and I intend to get the platinum for both DMC4 SE and DMC5. I've got decent progress with the latter's trophies. All of these games I mentioned are games I absolutely adore and getting the platinum trophies for me is worth it, as a way of showing my love for these games. I would not, however, get any platinums for games I don't really care for or ones that have very annoying requirements. If in the process of getting the trophies I find myself not enjoying the game and feeling like it's becoming a chore more than entertainment, I stop myself, either to cancel my plans on getting that platinum entirely or come back to it later. But I don't pressure myself to get it. Ultimately it means nothing but the meaning I gave it and I don't have to show off my trophies. I just platinum hunt for the games I lile because I want to. These days I mostly game on PC but trophy hunting in games I love keeps me coming back to my PS4. I agree with all the points in your video. Good work!
On PC, I never cared to achievement hunt until 2022 though that led to some unobtainables because I'm too busy playing l4d2 for 6 years in 2016 but it helps getting rid of unfinished games and I feel proud whether it's a hell grind or just plain boring but I rely on guides and still enjoy the game. However since I may accept any online achievements that are unobtainable I just try to get all achievements I can.
So much like mine story with trophies. I started to play on a new gen, saw these tasks and thought: "Cool, additional motivation for me to keep playing games that i already completed". At first time i platinumed every game i played, but as the time went, i experienced more and more issues with them, like online-trophies, boosting, over-the-top-grinding, shutted down servers, everything you described in this video. So i stopped chasing every platinum and now doing it only in games i love, mostly single-players. Although i never bought a game specifically for trophies, or spoilered my first playthrough, i left the platinum for replayability. So i wasn't too deep into this trophy-hunting stuff and stopped trying to be perfectionist relatively fast. Still like tough challenges that trophies might provide you sometime. And, you know what? I really like that experience. It's not something i would like to do constantly, but boosting with other people was fun sometimes. And even grinding. Like, right now, i have some good memories about that time. But i don't think i want to do that anymore. Something strange :)
Great video. I have some form of completion OCD and I've completed a few games 100% but nowadays looking at my backlog and seeing that I have to grind 700-1000 hours for some games and some games that have online achievements puts me in a spiral. I wish multiplayer trophies were either autocompleted or removed when a game's multiplayer servers were shut down or discontinued.
Just to say, I watched this video while my controller was rubbed to get a platinum, and I have to say that I really agree with everything you said, but even if I recognize that without trophy hunting I’d be capable of enjoying more the games I play, still I can’t stop getting trophies, I don’t know they’re so satisfying. There was a point when I created a new account (that became the one I’m currently using) just because I wanted all the games I played to be 100% completion, but fortunately with time I gave up and now I platinum only the games that doesn’t require me to completely burn my brain cells.
The rubber band trick will never get old XD. I totally get what you say, I felt like that for a long time. Even if trophies requiere you to do things that you don't want to do most of the time, they are still satisfying to get, and one can't avoid to be proud after getting a long/difficult platinum. I guess that every once in a while people just decide to change their priorities in life and all the effort that someone puts into something is just not worthy any more, so they use that effort for something else, but as long as you enjoy what you do, nothing else matters!
I have just given up after 4 years of trophy hunting. Life is too short to spend your time on games you don’t want to play or which aren’t fun for you anymore. I even disabled the trophy notification now. I am just playing for fun and to have a good time. I light platinum a few games here and there if I happen to love them.
Honnestly so many things you said in this video that I can fully agree with (only exception is that I really love hunting for collectibles even if it werent for trophies). Grinds are definitely the worst part for me. If the grind is just a small part of the game I can usually stomach it like farming for weapon or item drops in the dark souls games. But when the whole trophy list is basically all about one big grind like fortnite then count me the f out. Trophies are the most fun when they provide challenges which will feel very rewarding to overcome. I don't feel that satisfaction after a long grind, only just a sense of relief that it's finally over.
I have spent more than 15000 hours trophy hunting, and I still find it fulfilling for collectibles, some are fun, and some are not. for missables, I got to be ready before starting the game. If not, I move on. for online, I do them sometimes, but thankfully, allot of the games I like don't have an online component. for grindy trophies, I usually have a video or music playing in the background I appreciate the dark Chronicle/cloud 2 music in this video
I’m an achievement hunter, but because of the way Sony have managed to whole trophy system, I will NEVER be a trophy hunter. On Xbox I have 116,000 gamer points. On PS I’m on 200 and something - like most PS players. Who cares. The total is not on the Home Screen, like it is on my Xbox. Also the total trophy count gets harder and harder to raise as you go. That alone is a stupid mechanic. Sony screwed this up! So I don’t care! Where as I still care about achievements.
All these reasons are why I quit going after achievements. I also found myself not playing games because they had no achievements. Thankfully I broke myself from that after the 360 days. One way that helped was keeping a gaming log in notepad lol, I list the game only if I complete the main story and what difficulty.
Amazing video! I'll follow your videos. You are respectful and explained everything well! I'm glad you're still going for trophies but in your own terms. Best wishes man!
platinum trophy gives a sense of completion and its not a problem when you're enjoying the playtime to get there but modern gaming wants to waste your time and keep you coming back artificially not only for fun, it sucks
Trophy's/Achievements are like Pokemon to me - Prolly why i have almost 113k gamerscore on xbox. (Panoptic Punk is my GT.) I just... love collecting them, and they give me a sense of accomplishment. It's a challenge to prove my mastery of said game. Wether i gotta grind online or not, i'm doing it. It's like... an addiction. Straight up. Edit : Not gonna lie - i NEVER use a guide until ive beaten the game, But im also a completionist, so i USUALLY dont miss things. But i really dont mind replaying the game, per say. Just allows me to USE the proficiency and mastery i gained over my first playthrough. It's enjoyable to me. I do agree online trophy's/achievements are cancer. ESPECIALLY when the servers were shut down, since i can never 100% the game, and that shit drives me UP THE WALL. That shit DOES need to stop. Period. And the EXCEPTIONal people are the worst. I've run in to them a few times myself, so i allways end up being the guy to stick around FAR LONGER then i need to, espically in group sessions. Ive had it happen MANY times where people end up leaving, and after i got mine, i would stick around for HOURS to help the people i replaced the OG members with. I've done that MANY times - kind of like a pay-it-forward thing, i guess. It pays off sometimes, and people will do the same for me - but most of the time, no. I end up having to just refind an entire new group. Is what it is i guess.😅 EDIT: Have you heard of RetroAcheivements? It adds trophy's and cheevos to old NES+SNES+PS1+n64+GC+ alot of stuff. Really cool platform if your in to hunting like i am, it gives you even more of a reason to play retro games. I THOROUGHLY enjoyed replaying the DKC games and earning cheevo's. Was a great time.
For me, trophies started off as and continue to be a way for me to show devs that I really fux with their game. But some of the trophies are so trash and make you quit the game even before considering the platinum. You have brought up basically every complaint I have towards trophies. My main complaints being grinding/collectibles and online. Collectibles are terrible due to the backtracking you have to do which is boring as all fuuuuuuh (e.g. God of war. Opened it back up and only had collectibles trophies left. Completed two levels to 100% with others at around 85% and I couldn't bring myself to be in a boat for an hour with a video on the side...). It sucks because it's a growing phobia I have. If the trophies are terrible in a game I just don't pick it up at all. Edit: Wow just got to the last reason, sheesh man looks like we are all in the same boat. Hopefully we get a redemption this generation regarding trophies. I would love to enjoy games again but man... If the trophies are trash I just can't play it.
Very well crafted video. Years ago, I started exploring everything a game has to offer, but in the last months I paid to much attention to my completion rate (which isn’t even that high - 60+%). That prevented me from starting new games. My plan is now to ignore completion rate. It is a great feeling. A separate account is no solution. It is a waste of time.
I´m glad that I´ve found someone that thinks like me about alternate accounts XD. If you really think about it, the completition rate is not that important. I personally enjoyed more to check profiles of people with really impressive platinums on their accounts rather than a perfectcly clean profile full of easy games that take no effort to complete.
I try to get all trophys in games I'm heavily invested in , but most of the time i don't succeed because getting all trophys in a game in many cases require multiple playthroughs.
Yea no matter how much I enjoy a game, if the game has trophy list that requires multiple playthrough or beating the game on highest difficulty, I’ll won’t be bother to platinum it. I want to move on with the next game.
I was really bad in 360. In my 7 years I got my gamer score up over 220k. Not earth shattering but a pretty big score. Thought I was free with ps4, had a blast with Dragon Age Inquisition playing without any guide. Then I got a plat with transistor and got sucked in again. But I’m making Progress. I refuse to do any collection trophies unless marked in game, and even then only if traversal is fun. Of my 110 platinum some are embarrassing but some like Elden ring and Bloodborne took effort and were fun to get. I don’t think I’ll completely quit going for trophies but I let go pretty easy now if I’m frustrated.
220k is no joke. I also played 360 for that generation and I only had like 56k or so, so that is a pretty good score!. I know is hard to give up entirely on trophies, but I think the key is what you said, going for the platinums that are really enjoyable and that make you see all the things that the game has to offer.
@@wiewioragaming5726 lol if I can work my backlog down some more I’m thinking of downloading the ps4 version of Elden ring for a second platinum since I did it on ps5 first. In this case trophy hunting is a plus!!!
Great video. I loved getting platinums. I quit however due to switching to PC as my primary system in 2020. I still miss getting platinums and was sad to see that I earned 0 in 2022 when before I always got 1 per month at least.
Sadly, no trophies is the reason I rarely touch my Switch, feels kinda toxic tbh...
@@niemand7811your comment here is what we call "toxic"
Yes, feeling fulfilled by just completing a game instead of the platinum is a hard but beneficial mentality to have
Agreed

Holy shit. That platinum leader board. If I had 7 thousands platinums I'd fucking hate video games.
Or people who play games to completion love the games they complete, so they want to get the most out of the games.

Trophies were implemented in 2008, no need to lie here my dearest friend.

Ive got 150 platinums. Recently gave up getting them i was finding myself playing games a certain way & not how i wanted to play them. Since then I've had much more fun i never look at them now just play how i want finish the game & move onto the next one.
Same here so much better that way.
Trophies don't stop you to enjoy the game unless that's the only thing you care about
This video was amazing, honestly really well put together.
That's the most experienced answer ever thats completely correct, respect for writing all that too
If a player has to go outside the game to get a trophy then the developers have failed.
I love playing games to enjoy but yes either I look up guides because I want to keep playing the game to grind or just if the games are first time to complete for the sake of time.
this is the way
As a trophy hunter myself, I agree with what you said and It's totally a-okay to quit if you're not having fun with them.
As for your points, I only want to say this:
1) I don't mind collectibles honestly.
Nothing else to say
4) Okay I will be the absolute minority in this, but I actually don't hate grinds in games.
You should stop hunting to. Write a whole book to defend yourself, clearly says you know this videomaker is right.
@@tattedking9666 Why?
@@tattedking9666it's his choice and he clearly there find trophie hunting some game fun
This is what ima do with the last of us as it already takes a couple play throughs to get platinum but enjoying the story is my main priority

The online trophies thing is so fucking true man. I had to give up on several games because of online trophies.
I like trophies like that, that is what make some platinum trophies special and rare, if everything was easy, the platinum wouldn't be special.
Reaching the final level of Awesomeness takes three to four months.
Diamonds are next to impossible to get. Too many hardcore players.
Indeed, addiction is surely a good way to put it, but I´m glad that now you are able to enjoy video games in the way you want!
yeah watching this video it really felt like trophy hunting is an addiction
True good mentality to have. I play fallout 4 sometimes even tho I plat it
Assassin creed Valhalla made me quit trophy hunting.
Yeah, Fromsoftware's platinums are usually really enjoyable to get. I wish more game companies had that way of making trophy lists.
@@AdriWalkedX99 Exactly! It didn't feel like a grind (even though I had to beat the game three times), more like exploring the game fully, which I enjoyed anyway.
@@AdriWalkedX99 ds3 trophies are not enjoyable
I personally would add “Speed Run Trophies” to the list..
Time trials, no damage, winning streak, I told you, all red flags to avoid a trophy list that has any of these
There’s a fine line between enjoying collecting trophies & being obsessed with them.
I wish I could platinum the ps3 version. I wasnt really a trophy hunter back when I had it.
I hate how most games to have 50+ trophies/achievements now. When games have 20ish, that's when they're best
Are you kidding me? Challenge 6 in Vanquish is what I’m working on right now.

Found myself forcing myself to play just to feel like I didn't "waste" my money-
Like you said, The implementation of trophies were for so the game could be further enjoyed.
I’m getting sick of them honestly. I have around 200 Plats and I think I’m going to stop hunting them. I’m having more fun now that I’m not worried about them as much.
I'm going to stop at 400 platinums, I'm at 378 currently 👌👌🥱
Completionism usually makes us forget why we play games in the first place. If we want to grind, better to grind at a job, we at least get paid
I always tried getting as many throphies as i could from a young age i have like 27 platinums and i mostly go for games i enjoy playing time and the will to grind are huge factors
Great video I used to be obsessed with achievements on Xbox, I had similar problems Best thing I ever did was quit hunting them and enjoy games again.
I’m not dedicated to trophies. However if it’s a game I’m enjoying. It gives me a reason to keep playing the awesome game
I only try to get all trophies if I really love a game
If it wasn't for trophies I probably wouldn't be playing that much anymore
My biggest beef with multiplayer trophies is there are always players who get the game day one and only play multiplayer and after a short time they dominate the whole multiplayer scene and if you come across them while playing you can kiss your progress goodbye on win 50 multiplayer games in a row type trophies.
to be honest I understand your decision brah
collecting some of these trophies drives me crazy but it's to late for me to stop
I feel you on Rayman Legends. I came so close to the platinum but eventually just cut my losses and walked away.
Wise choice my friend, it was indeed too much XD
That online trophy is horrible.
The things that I’ve done for some of the achievements that I have…
Thank you for your encouragement, I am finding it to be like an addiction so I’m making me journey now to leave them for good.
I'm glad that the video helped you to make a decision!
At the end of the day, is all about considering what things are worth our time, and feeling happy with the decision we make
Tomb raider level 60 was fun. For me back in the day
I honestly never counted online trophies to be part of the list. I don't care what it says on my screen, if I did all the non-online one, it's a platinum for me
Switching to PC put an halt to my quest cause trophies/achievements aren't as in your face as they can be on consoles and I honestly started enjoying my playthrough more cause of it. I can not imagine playing something like RDR2 with trophies in mind for example
Oh and you're a true legend for getting the rayman platinum, I tried it at first until I reached 1500 and saw what was left to do... mad props
I remember the halo achievements were fun
I'm not a huge Trophy Hunter but I like to get them if I can. I recently picked up Mount and Blade Bannerlord for PS4 and was so disappointed to find all of the online Trophies, it really sucks to know you'll never get a Platinum to a game you really enjoy.
watching this video while casually grinding maneater on ps4/5
good video btw

That statement is very true.
For anyone that has been hunting trophies for a
while, it hurts to get into your PSNP account and see that the numbers are on red, it happens to me too even to this day, but that bad feeling goes away just if you keep scrolling and see all the hard work that you made at some point.
Final Fantasy XV?
@@dibblidyy it was plants vs zombies battle for neighborville, but in past I had to do it also for final fantasy
I have spent more than 15000 hours trophy hunting, and I still find it fulfilling
for collectibles, some are fun, and some are not.
for missables, I got to be ready before starting the game. If not, I move on.
for online, I do them sometimes, but thankfully, allot of the games I like don't have an online component.
for grindy trophies, I usually have a video or music playing in the background
I appreciate the dark Chronicle/cloud 2 music in this video
Is what it is i guess.😅
EDIT: Have you heard of RetroAcheivements?
This was an awesome video man. For me, I love trophies that require you to be at least more than average at the game. Makes me feel kinda "special".
Elden Ring
@@wiewioragaming5726 lol if I can work my backlog down some more I’m thinking of downloading the ps4 version of Elden ring for a second platinum since I did it on ps5 first. In this case trophy hunting is a plus!!!
Great video. I loved getting platinums. I quit however due to switching to PC as my primary system in 2020. I still miss getting platinums and was sad to see that I earned 0 in 2022 when before I always got 1 per month at least.
