Bach is an excellent teacher I find. If you want to seek what it is to play beautiful legato and staccato just immerse yourself in Bach. Schiff has played Bach for so many decades and it shows. His touch never falters to capture texture and speak. Just a wonderful cantabile permeating every line and phrase.
What a high level Master Schiff has reached. He expresses this Bach with a sweet and intriguing kind of orchestral sound...
The man has the perfect touch to play Bach on the piano...so much life in his variety of articulation and inflection. He also consistently shows how the music dances in all the various types. And I love his unforced approach to musical expression
His dedication to Bachs music is admirable. Love Schiff, his classes are excellent, he has a great sense of humour.
He was born to play Bach. Pure genius
No. His Bach is all fingers and no soul. Plus even with his fingers, the notes come out as unclean and unsmooth.

Schiff's interpretation is warm and free. it feels so natural. He is indeed the Master.

Merci d’abord à Altea Media de rendre disponible un témoignage de ce concert exceptionnel. Je suis un peu mono maniaque en ce qui concerne les 6 partitas de JS Bach. GG est mon interprète favori, personne n’est parfait. Cependant je dois avouer que je suis touché ici par l’immense hommage rendu pas Sir Andras Schif au génie de Bach. L’attachement de Andras Schif aux compositions de JSB est connu. Quelle preuve de dévotion il apporte par cette interprétation des 6 partitas en public. Vous méritez Sir une grande admiration pour cela non seulement pour l’exploit dont bien peu seraient capables mais aussi pour votre finesse de jeu, votre articulation. Chapeau bas et merci pour votre offrande à tous les amoureux de la musique de JS Bach.

Me é difícil entender como Bach com os instrumentos limitados tecnicamente de sua época podia compor tão complexas e densas obras. O toque de András Schiff é sempre suave, jamais usa a força, essa é uma grande qualidade de um pianista. Existe espiritualidade nestas obras e em sua execução.

Listening to a Maestro such as Sir András Schiff makes me feel that I should have spent every waking moment of my entire life practicing Bach's keyboard works!
My current favourite is 1:23:06 but the entire œuvre is sublime.
After hearing Schiff, I don't just ask for Bach to be played like this, I Allemande it!

I think you will miss out on much finely played/recorded JSB if you don't keep an open mind...I know I did. Keep listening
Enough notes there to make you dizzy, after a while it's just noise
Keep training your ear, don't overwhelm yourself. Do small portions of listening daily. Listening practice is almost as hard as performance practice.
