In the case of Ai's death, where the evidence would all be circumstantial, I think there's a very low chance they would even prosecute, which, I believe, is why Aqua feels he has to take matters into his own hands and people around him seem to be more accepting of that than they would be in North America.

One thing that kind of slips under the radar in "Trigger" is the fact that Gotanda says he's had some acting experience. Is that so? Where did he acquire this acting experience? It wouldn't happen to have been at an acting workshop given by a certain theater company, would it? He already has those suspicious folders on his computer desktop, but it might turn out he knows a whole lot more than we've even suspected up to this point!

The alcohol thing in akasaka´s works is a funny thing. Because he knows that he can´t show underage people drinking so he adds these over the top speech bubbles, like ginger ale here. The characters however clearly act drunk. It´s more clear in Kaguya for example in the movie during the new years party with ishigami and Tsubame. Try watching the party scenes while erasing the "This is juice" overlays. Akasaka knows that teenagers drink but he can´t openly publish it because it´s not a good look, probably rightfully so. But maybe it´s just my inner german speaking lol.
Another Weekly Young Jump series did an especially funny take - The 100 Girlfriends Who Really, Really, Really, Really, Really Love You had a chapter where everyone wanted to have a pretend drinking party, but an incarnation of the publisher appeared in a dream and refused to allow it. So Rentaro came up with a bunch of ways to get everyone to SEEM drunk - turning up the temperature, having everyone do tongue-twisters until they were slurring their words, giving them the hiccups, etc. - and added a disclaimer to every panel that no alcohol or anything like it had been drunk. (It’s so weird watching Kimagure Orange Road nowadays and seeing the glamorous, alluring love interest Madoka Ayukawa smoke and drink in MIDDLE school.)
been waiting a while for this! This season has been amazing, easy 10/10 so far. I have to say tho, I'm a bit disappointed we didn't get a single scene of Ruby reacting to Aqua's emotional acting
The stalker didn't know where she lives because the dad didn't know probably. She specifically gave him her address so he could come meet the kids and that's when he was able to pass it on and have her killed. Many talent agencies invest in real estate and have their talent live there if they come from out of town or I guess in the case of Ai, have no relatives. It looked like she was living with her boss and his wife until the second wave of success happened with her comeback, the place she was killed seems like a condo she bought after they began making more money. She never invited him before because she wouldn't be able to do it without anyone else knowing about it and she kept his identity a secret even from her boss.
Anyone who was relatively close to Ai could have easily found where she lived with some half assed stalking. It's not like Ai had secret services taking her from agency,studio, and any job to her address.And she herself had troubles keeping her mouth shut even on live TV. There is no way a man in the industry couldnt do that but could hire/maipulate a random guy to kill her. Hell, since nobody realized Gorou was murdered, they could have tried again at the hospital OR at Saitou's home. The question is why would anyone wait so many years to kill her and why they didnt try to kill the twins even more than a decade later.

And honestly how exactly would he even reach Ai inside the hospital. All Gorou had to do was to walk back inside and the security and along with other docs and nurses would make it be impossible for him to pass unnoticed. And with the last episode we now know that he already had family since Taiki is older than Aqua ,so some wife or new gf wasnt the issue.
One thing I don’t like about multi-episode videos is that the last one is weighted so heavily. We got three banger episodes full of great moments, themes, and character arcs, and half the discussion was focused on one scene
I was thinking of a little subplot where in order to keep socializing Abiko suggested GOA to start their own manga series. He would be its writer using his creative ideas and Abiko - illustrator turning them into panels, i.e. the changing of roles who creates and who adopts. And then there could be some development of their relationship.
Akane shone so brightly (and looked so cute as a kid). Her moments were amazing, this is why she's my absolute favourite character. That harsh cut to her say "But that type of acting is wrong." In episode 7. Episode 8 worked amazingly at showing the differences between Kana's dazzling acting and Aqua's pained emotional acting. Episode 9 starting off with that brilliant scene of emotional acting. The soundtrack was amazing especially in that scene. And that reveal at the end. This is such a good adaptation and even elevation of the manga (which I'm also enjoying right now).

I'm surprised how none of the reactors watching felt weird that akane wanted to look like kana when she was meeting kana for the first time.. imagine you are a movie star, and someone cosplays as you when meeting up with you.. how weird would that feel? i mean even i can appreciate baby akane being cute and all but if you take a step back, thats pretty obsessive behaviour and certainly not normal.. but people with this more calm and distanced reading of the characters will be crucified by the idol worshipping simps for akane XD
I’m sorry if this opinion is a bit off-topic, but I really think 'Burning' by Hitsujibungaku is an absolutely amazing song. The way it combines the sound of 90s alternative rock with J-rock is just too cool.

the aqua/himekawa parallels went so hard, from already looking very similar apart from hair color, to a very similar personality type (from disruptive childhoods), behavior type when it comes to observing people and mimicking what they do, and similar acting styles. which brings into question what kind of person is the father if the sons talent for acting didnt come from the mothers.
I've seen a few ppl jump to the conclusion that Gotanda is Aqua's Dad, but that's just doesn't fit. When Ai talks to the father in the phone booth, Gotanda has already met Aqua and Ruby and already knows Aqua fairly well, yet when on the phone with the Dad, Ai says "Would you like to meet our kids?", which she would not have said if it was Gotanda, knowing he'd already met them and interacted as much with Aqua as he had at that point.

Blonde, redhead and some of the wilder colors like pink and green are not necessarily meant to be the characters' outward appearance and are there to help differentiate characters and give more visual interest. Japanese people understand anime hair colors as being mostly the standard Japanese brown/black. The hair colors of a character could be chosen because they look good in the context of character design, or to reflect their personality (e.g. characters with fiery personalities often have red hair). So it's not impossible that Aqua and Ruby's hair color was chosen to match their Dad's, but I wouldn't put too much stock in it.
They had so much to talk about in the reveal at the end that they barely talked about the actual Tokyo Blade performance which many people consider to be peak Oshi no Ko lol.
Impressive how fast you got this recorded, edited, and posted after ep9 came out! Yeah, with revenge stories, sometimes you get straightforward Count of Monte Cristo plots, but there’s definitely a lot of “dig two graves” cautionary tales where the protagonist ruins or even loses their own life in the process (Hamlet, Cowboy Bebop), or decides the cost is too high and turns away (Minority Report, The Southern Raiders). The World’s End takes a similar route, but with a different self-destructive quest, a 12-pint pub crawl. Vinland Saga also treats it as self-destructive, but with a slightly different take. Oshi no Ko certainly doesn’t seem to be treating Aqua’s quest as GOOD for him. This clearly wasn’t the kind of acting Ai was excited to see from him in the future. His brain won’t let him enjoy acting; the quest keeps him from actually living his life, and it’s contrasted with Ruby’s pursuit of her hopes and dreams. So if there’s a happy ending for Aqua, I can’t see it being in murder.
(No spoilers here) Anna, in my own assumption, I think the reason you are opposed to Aqua being reliable as narrator is because you have a a pact with an Eldritch being giving you supernatural intuition. On more serious note, clues are there and you have a gut feeling of something not clicking fully. Clues are there but are still missing a crucial detail that show is yet to show. Wheter you are correct or no, figuring it out beforehand would be simply, batshiit crazy Really enjoy you both analyzing and discussing. Hope you have a great day 😊

I love it when you guys discuss. by the way, have you guys watched "Boku dake ga inai machi"? this is one of my favorite anime since years ago. it only has 12 episodes, and it's interesting to discuss.
The stalker guy was a 25 year old college dropout and from he doesn't seem like someone charismatic enough to take someone from the industry to a bar to extract information nor does he seem smart enough (from his speech pattern and obsessiveness) to hack and get information. His background was already discussed in the newspapers stating he was a normal college kid with no resources for enough detective work. Aqua's judgement is correct about him being a random crazy maniac who wouldn't be able to get information of Ai's whereabouts. Sadly I can't say anything about Aqua's dad without giving spoilers. Also Aqua's judgement up until now....actually nvm.
So, speaking of similarities between the two, I'm guessing we're going to find out in short order that half-bro was in a children's home because his mom was murdered, too.
I didn't know they can really react by explession so smoothly. at begging it's business like(making explession Ben-san sometimes pointed with saying I love this I think), but they can enjoyed, as someone says they watch these in different ways.

I honestly don't see how you can like Kana at all. A couple of episodes ago she went to the trouble of back-ordering a magazine from 10 years ago to read out an interview Akane had when she was 7 years old just to bully and publicly humiliate her. To bully and publicly humiliate an emotionally unstable girl who, had Aqua not caught her as she fell toward onrushing traffic, would have actually comitted suicide just a few weeks prior, due to bullying. That's someone you can like? She's irredemable. She's a monster. I know it's just a manga and an anime so it'll turn out great in the end regardless, but there can be no way she's ever going to be a likeable character again. I think you're not actually watching the show... ... unless I'm missing something. Please explain to me how you can look past the fact she went to such extraordinary lengths to bully and publicly humiliate a girl who had attempted suicide due to being the target of bullying and public humiliation just a few weeks earlier. I'd love to know how you can still say you like her character even a tiny bit.
They've always had that dynamic. I get she was mean but based on that fact alone if you call her unlikeable, Aqua is probably the most unlikeable character given how he continues to use Akane

Yeah, with revenge stories, sometimes you get straightforward Count of Monte Cristo plots, but there’s definitely a lot of “dig two graves” cautionary tales where the protagonist ruins or even loses their own life in the process (Hamlet, Cowboy Bebop), or decides the cost is too high and turns away (Minority Report, The Southern Raiders). The World’s End takes a similar route, but with a different self-destructive quest, a 12-pint pub crawl. Vinland Saga also treats it as self-destructive, but with a slightly different take.
Oshi no Ko certainly doesn’t seem to be treating Aqua’s quest as GOOD for him. This clearly wasn’t the kind of acting Ai was excited to see from him in the future. His brain won’t let him enjoy acting; the quest keeps him from actually living his life, and it’s contrasted with Ruby’s pursuit of her hopes and dreams. So if there’s a happy ending for Aqua, I can’t see it being in murder.

Anna, in my own assumption, I think the reason you are opposed to Aqua being reliable as narrator is because you have a a pact with an Eldritch being giving you supernatural intuition.
On more serious note, clues are there and you have a gut feeling of something not clicking fully. Clues are there but are still missing a crucial detail that show is yet to show. Wheter you are correct or no, figuring it out beforehand would be simply, batshiit crazy

I love it when you guys discuss. by the way, have you guys watched "Boku dake ga inai machi"? this is one of my favorite anime since years ago. it only has 12 episodes, and it's interesting to discuss.
The stalker guy was a 25 year old college dropout and from he doesn't seem like someone charismatic enough to take someone from the industry to a bar to extract information nor does he seem smart enough (from his speech pattern and obsessiveness) to hack and get information. His background was already discussed in the newspapers stating he was a normal college kid with no resources for enough detective work. Aqua's judgement is correct about him being a random crazy maniac who wouldn't be able to get information of Ai's whereabouts.
Sadly I can't say anything about Aqua's dad without giving spoilers. Also Aqua's judgement up until now....actually nvm.

I honestly don't see how you can like Kana at all. A couple of episodes ago she went to the trouble of back-ordering a magazine from 10 years ago to read out an interview Akane had when she was 7 years old just to bully and publicly humiliate her. To bully and publicly humiliate an emotionally unstable girl who, had Aqua not caught her as she fell toward onrushing traffic, would have actually comitted suicide just a few weeks prior, due to bullying. That's someone you can like? She's irredemable. She's a monster. I know it's just a manga and an anime so it'll turn out great in the end regardless, but there can be no way she's ever going to be a likeable character again. I think you're not actually watching the show...

Please explain to me how you can look past the fact she went to such extraordinary lengths to bully and publicly humiliate a girl who had attempted suicide due to being the target of bullying and public humiliation just a few weeks earlier. I'd love to know how you can still say you like her character even a tiny bit.
They've always had that dynamic. I get she was mean but based on that fact alone if you call her unlikeable, Aqua is probably the most unlikeable character given how he continues to use Akane
