The DLC items are game changers. It doesn't work SUPER well in randos, but you can craft stronger versions of all the weapons and armor, multiple times till they rival the best late game equivalents. Plus the weapons all have crazy special effects. The Miri "gun" shoots way faster than any of the normal guns and can also be used like a sword. The Umbrella weapon is insane. It can block attacks just by holding in the attack button. It's very cool.
While I have yet to get the DLC*Due to being a switch user and thus, getting it on the 16th...*, Just by watching the video, I Pretty much agree they're game changers just for the simple fact that the name codes ARE NOT NEEDED TO START A RANDO WITH WEAPONS. This will make Hard Mode Max Randos a bit more doable as there's a lot less need for RNG to make it pass the boat now.
Hell, Miri is broken, the max Miri Dress has 14 INT, compared to Scarlet Dress’ 8 INT, even upgraded twice it has 8 INT, and goes to 10 INT before max level, and the Miri Scepter gets more ATK from bullets even with just the melee, but only takes advantage of the Cowboy and Gunslinger Hats with the projectile, and also Miri Scepter is the most powerful gun in the game that somehow is a club on the search thing, then you have Succubus’ Vampirific Choker that gives 6 STR, the highest STR boosting scarf
I can get that ledge in the Carriage room in the Garden somewhat consistently by just walking off the wooden platform and doing a short hop during the coyote frames. On the switch version I can somehow manage with a short hop from the platform itself, but not on PC, might be a skill issue on my part. You can also break the breakable wall with the projectile from the Miri Scepter too.
IGA is one hell of a boss in this game, I don't know how, but I managed to beat him.. Those EX potions are a life saver.. Miriam literally kick his face in with fully upgraded oleanders.. I found him by accident, and he mopped the floor with Miriam repeatedly.. The game changer for me was the flame mail..
No??? Yeah, the DLC gear is strong, but not enough so to make the old gear non-viable. (Plus the Shantae gear is just part of the free update, so it's not like base game players are completely left out.)
This is the 1.5 update, which is the final one, as they've now implemented everything the Kickstarter had promised all the way back in 2016 and then some.

they wanted to implement all the kickstarter goals/rewards into the game first before starting on a second game.
