If you buy a skoda Octavia you're buying it to last for your lifetime, your kids lifetime, your grandkids lifetime, and your great grandkids lifetime. A real car for the whole family
I know the diesel engines are great but I have a 1.6 petrol fsi Octavia (07 reg) which has done 244000 miles now, doesn't burn oil, passed it's recent MOT with no problems, is still quiet and smooth drive and accelerates well when overtaking and also returns up to 60MPG on a good run. Skodas really are great reliable cars
I always enjoy hearing about such vehicles. The longest I've kept a car is about 10 years. Usually I want a change long before that. I can always come up with a good reason. I may have to keep my current 2 vehicles for the long run this time though, as I can no longer afford to chop and change. Prices here are mad now. ( uk)
Mine is currently on 127k miles its 2004 one of the first mk2 octavia's and thr only bother I've had in thr last 9 years of ownership is the sills had rotten at the rear but they got welded up and its still ploughing on she is a bit tired now with surface rust etc but she's going in for a respray as it had a full service history and I've even the delivery recipets etc from when it was new absolutely love this car but we also have a 2011 1.6 tdi superb currently on 320k miles and its still ploughing on also a few suspension bushes are worn but other than that its fine. I remember when skoda's where something to be laughed at but that's all fairly changed now the 2 skodas are the best cars I've had to date.
It's not just the miles on the car but the age, parts wear just parked too, especially rust. taxi cars are also contantly running so engine always warm and the are services way more than a regular car. taxi car miles are a lot easier on the car than regular driving. It's still very impressive though! I wish to get many more trouble free miles on my car, almost at 200,000
the real q's is how many wheel bearings, clutches, brake callipers, suspension components etc? what about gearbox? (ond how much did it cost in parts and labour).
If, for arguments sake, we said that the average motorist replaces their car when it hits 200k on the odometer, adding again for arguments sake a cost of around €10k + trade in for a replacement (used) we're still looking at about €40k and over four cars (+ maintenance on them) saved. Those repairs you mentioned wouldn't come close to that. The figures I have could be wrong, but I'd say the answer is still the same - it would be massively cheaper to maintain a reliable car over 900k kilometres than replace it every 200k, on average.
It depends on the upkeep of the vehicle. I have seen Octavia and Laura (Octavia Mk2) doing 300K to 400K kilometers. Proudly I own Mk1 Octavia at 160K Kilometers. In India.
@@anandogania4599 I am owning 16Years (2007) old Octavia TDI1.9 Elegance clocked 325000 KM Running like charm with periodic maintenance. An average of 19Km in highway with AC . what else needed.
A friend of mine bought a three year old Skoda something or other car and he has spent over 2 and a half grand already on it. Fixing the engine. Gearbox and turbo etc all failed him.
It’s the 1.9 TDI PD! Absolute legend of an engine and by far the most reliable VAG engine. Pity it was discontinued in 2009 :(
the 1,6 tdi (3rd. gen.) is also very strong and even better fuel consumption. Plus it doesnt rust so bad.
*2011
The 1.9 tdi pd engine never goes wrong
@@Aol8887 on my 1.9 tdi i had lowest 3.4 liters/100km
@@Aol8887 nothing beats the 1.9 TDI
My dad drives a skoda Octavia mk2 1.9 TDI for 10 years now ON TAXI,and has a kilometrage of 1.3 million km
Is the engine original, what kind of work and expenses happened to maintain the engine
The Irish accent is so beautiful. When its coming from an irish woman it's just drop dead gorgeous.
Remember Merida from Brave?
1:40 "Well the main thing to do is bring it in to a Skoda dealership. We have the expertise here..." yeah right
Guy missed a trick. He said with regular servicing any car could last . He should have said any skoda, of course lol
I have an Octavia 1.9 tdi with 165,00 miles/265,000 kms. Just passed its test (needed a new headlight adjuster). Brilliant motor.
I have a 2015 Yeti with 2.0TDi with 255K KM

Our skoda is up and running for 10 years straight, and it's still beautiful and in full working order
My parents had a Octavia estate from 2006 for over 10 years without any issue at all! Super practical and tough as nails!
Haahahahahahahah it made me cry....the first thing to make the car last is to take it to the oficial service .No wayyyy nooo wayyy.

He looked after it well! Small world
Thanks for sharing
Well, that's amazing.
You'll have to get that back to document the million rollover.
We'll have to!
@@carsirelanddotie Hasn't that happened yet? Been 4 years.
Good review. Cheers from Canada.
Skoda must give to that owner a new car because it's amazing.
I do have skoda Octavia 1.9 tdi rider...162,000 km running....engine life is awesom
My 2010 1.9 TDI PD passat about to hit 300k miles, such a shame they discontinued this engine.
Wow. I'm driving my BMW 3 Series 2006 petrol with 160k km into the ground I've had it from new. My next purchase will be a retro Skoda :)
Colm Malone my 1999 3 series has 320,000 Kim’s and simply needs some shock absorbers

Have you gotten in touch with the carthrottle channel? They have an Octavia with 430000 miles
Great video, with a great car, in stunning scenery!
Great mileage on that car. In my mind the best value car on the road. Only thing I'd like to know is does it have it's original engine and gearbox?
I have the 1.9tdi from 2003 it's hit 109k miles, I guess it's just run in then.

200.000km is nothing if you drive often.
Its a wonder nowdays when modern cars can pass the 150.000km mark lmao
Nothing can beat a good old PD engine
Yep, i had the 1.9 PD 130bhp version in a golf, tuned it to 220bhp 😂
Anyone know which engine code she is? BXE BCK ect? That is important as some 1.9 tdis broke down.
You don’t need to take it to a Skoda dealer for longevity.
thanks for showing the czech machine.

I have my scoda 2006 a5 18 years still like broun nwee
This skodas are well built, I have seen them with many Ks on the clock
85,000km/year every year for 11
Still only like 236 km a day so a couple of hours a day of driving at most.
Diesel Engine Always super reliable, This is the top reason
This car was scrapped I think, I checked it on the nct due date and it had no information on it😢
very good car (and excellent driver) 😉👍☘️
Skoda always means high reliability , as good as VW and Audi
@ 2:00 .. If you keep the genuine parts & Regular service.. Any car can last like this
I like how she speaks 😍
What happened to this car? Is it still around?
Skoda cars maintenance very expensive in India
any common faults with the bxe 1.9 tdi engine, apart from the big end bearing? :)
Is the car still going ?
Is the 1.6 tdi as reliable?
No but almost
Well that statement, that car are disposal, does not imply in many countries. In Czechia for example awg. age of car is 16years.
Usually Skoda last around for 20 years
Any sensor issues?
very good cars and nice looking love them
Beautiful car and beautiful lady
I’ve have skoda laura l&k with 245000 kms on it
Is this octavia BXE engine?
Dont believe it has such a low mileage. Must be clocked back to 100k when 1st milion km reached in 2012 😉😉
this reminds me of car throttle high mileage hero....
I have to confirm its last NCT WAS OCTOBER 2018. So maybe the cars off the road. Hopefully not crashed
Built tough, mine has 300k kilometres
I wonder if it's a BXE engine?...
is it diesel engine or petrol..??
1,9 tdi diesel
Electric 😅
Well
Beast cars eaver 18 years car thus cars can last 100 years I have it in egypt
Is the car still alive?
Answer to getting that many km/m is to buy a diesel.
1:45 awww, not that's a bummer, to bringing your 1mil km 500$ Skoda to the dealership
I don't understand? we had one and it was full of faults and broken all the time. it cost us too much and we sold it.
If it comes to Indian roads, damn sure It won't even cross 1 lakh kilometers
When I arrived at the border, they told me i was lucky to even keep my knickers!!!!!!!!!!
