  • We all have preconceived ideas of which car brands we think are the most reliable - but have you considered how accurate you actually are? Well, wonder no more!! We’ve pulled together a list of the most reliable car brands out there! But before you watch the video, which manufacturer do you think will clinch the top spot? Let us know in the comments, then stick with Mat to find out!
    Thanks to Warrantywise for helping us create this video - www.warrantywise.co.uk/
    This survey has been calculated using data taken from the extended car warranty data held by Warrantywise and the repairs they have received. A spokesman for Warranty Wise said: “Warrantywise does not release data for cars unless we have a minimum of 100 vehicles as a sample amount. This data relates to claims between 2010 and 2020 and may not represent the reliability of new vehicles as all of the data in the set is for vehicles over 3 years old.”

      @@karankaler8777 I love my L322, but it remains a car with a lot of issues. The technic and built quality isn’t what you can expect from a car with a pricetag that high.
      And having the image off being expensive and therefor people want one, so others think the owner is rich. But you have 3 types of LaRo owners, a rich one, the brand enthusiast and the poser. Often the second or third owner is the poser. Can just afford to buy the car, but don’t spend any on maintenance. And being a car with low built quality big things will break down. But even new ones will break down. So the overall reliability is very poor in the end.
      I am an enthusiast of the brand, especially the Full Fat Range Rover and the Defender. But that’s the only way you going to spend your last penny on an used Land Rover. If you are sensible, don’t buy a used (out of warranty) Land Rover.

      Back in the 90’s, my parents used a Lada Riva Estate 1500 as a load-lugging workhorse for their business. In comparison with other average vehicles of the day, it was not as slow as people pretend. Fit and finish was shite, styling was non-existent, comfort could’ve been better, also could’ve been worse, but it was utterly reliable. In the ten years that my parents had it, there was one problem. The rotor arm for the ignition system threw a bolt, smashing the distributor cap in half, despite this, the car still ran on three cylinders to get home.

      @RJaviALR 3 года назад +40

      Actually, Rolls Royce is the most reliable 'brand' in the world, is the only manufacturer who gives to his owners a 8 year warranty "12 if you follow the manual", all Rolls Royce are handmade and checked before they go to the street, every part of the car is signed by the person who made it "If that part is bad or in bad conditions, the worker has to assume the responsability of that" there is a saying in Rolls "If a part of the car needs 4 screws, we put there 16", they even have workers for cheking if seat threads are allright, imagine, if other manufacter need 2 workers doing something about a car, they put in the same situation 4 workers, they hardly ever cut on expenses. Rolls Royce doesnt appear in any reliability list because they made less than 100 cars per year, do you think when you pay 400k for a car you are paying only the brand? Hell no! @@RJaviALR What is your source for that 12 year warranty because I can only find a 4 year factory warranty on the official website of Rolls Royce. Perhaps Rolls Royce offers an extended warranty option, but honestly; all major manufacturers have that these days. Plus; I have no doubt that Rolls Royce's building quality is better than it's rivals, but that also means parts are much more expensive to replace (especially genuine Rolls Royce parts), plus; luxury cars these days are all about having the latest technical gadgets. These are things that become outdated and break usually rather fast. That is also why all the modern luxury cars have such a low reliability score compared to a cheap but basic Toyota.

They won't rank cars that are expensive to fix on top of the list. They want you to drive the cheapest car to repair because then they'll make the most profit. Reliability also doesn't come from the average cost to repair. Reliability is about how many cars broke down and that's never mentioned in the video...

What other car company has 1/3rd of any model on the road out of which the YOUNGEST is 35 year olds? The bad rep of Italian cars stems from a disastrous production of Alfas which used Russian steel and rusted like nothing. And finally if a seat does not have electric seats they can't break and you don't have pitstop drawing down the average for the brand.

Because breaks, engine, steering wheel etc (you know where I’m going) are more important than temperature controller or issues with some of the electronics such as seat adjustment or something similar and also can cost more. What I’m saying is that if a cars engine breaks down it should have bigger impact on its reliability score than if lets say its side mirrors don’t retract automatically or seats don’t heat up or slide back and forward. I really doubt Porsche would be that high up the list if the things I mentioned are taken into account, tho there should be no excuse for even issues on such an expensive car.

    Three elements will skew the rankings, 1) addition of warranties numbers based in Asia, so it would be a global ranking. 2) expansion of the type of models covered (if numbers didn't cover for all models) and lastly 3) repairs done by local mechanics while under warranty. Some provinces in Asia there would be only one repair center across hundreds of km and people would just fix their cars at the nearest mechanic. But even with these factors thrown in, i'd guess Honda to come up tops again.

Insurance company’s know this because some cars are more expensive to insure than others, not only because the probability of breakdown, but also probability of a crash. Since some brands are more likely to crash, they are probably driven more aggressively and therefore will break down more often, even if the quality is good. Something to keep in mind.

    It’s sooo cool to see so many different car brands. Here the in US we don’t get to see them and can’t drive them. Remember when I used to visit India growing up we use own Skoda ( Ocatavia, Rapid ) they were really good especially Octavia.
