Kyle thank you for these awesome videos I'm a full-time firefighter so the last couple days I've watched all the 240 videos and now all the S10 ones in my spare time at the station and man they look amazing your video editing is phenomenal And I love how thorough you are when doing the video and explaining the process definitely makes me feel like I can tackle a few minor things on my truck keep up the amazing work looking forward to more videos and stay safe and healthy during the covid-19 crisis we are all dealing with
ToulaFire89 Thank you so much my friend! I really appreciate the kind words. I always want to try to edit the videos and explain things in a way to make everyone feel like they are there with me in the moment. These projects, even though they can be quite stressful, have been extremely rewarding. Thank you for everything that you do as well! Stay safe out there!
@@saabkyle04 thank you and you definitely make me feel like I'm right in the shop with you with the awesome camera work can't wait for more videos buddy
I love the attention to detail you have on your project cars, just like in your car reviews. Seeing you heat isolated the spark plug wires from the headers. Impressive and clean work!
Love your projects, your resiliency and dedication, Kyle! Keep it up buddy. Stay safe as well. Also on the side note.. Love the sound of the torque wrench clicks. So satisfying. (In an odd way). Hahaha
Well maybe you think your skills are not up there but trust me they are - many of us car nuts would dream of such a skill set! You are doing a great job, always a pleasure watching your work. Truck is looking amazing- and kudos over that top hose!
It sounds like the lock plate was not installed correctly the last time it was removed. It being covered in plastic it is supposed to "fill" that gap so you don't see the infernals. If you didn't use the tool to push the spring back to get the snap ring in the groove then it is still not installed correctly
David I got the snap ring back in place, just didn’t show it on camera. I’m pretty sure lock plates weren’t put on these trucks till ‘91. I could be wrong, but it was a completely different style from the Jimmy. I know they changed columns toward the latter part of the first gen. I know someone had worked on this column before, but I got it back together correctly.
Great work man, super clean and better than almost any build I've seen on RUclips... but since you retained the ac, you might as well keep the cruise control. Adds alot to the final result
Hey love the vids man keep it up I know you already did the sound stuff under the truck but can you do a in depth video of sound and heat deadening in the whole cab of the truck like the roof floor behind the dash doors and so on
James Dodd thank you James! Turns out, the lock plate was not reinstalled properly by the previous owner and I did not catch it. So after I get it fixed, that gap might not be there anymore!
First to say. Great video. My question is how you ran the fuel lines from the tank. I'm doing the same thing manual 350 pump. Tell me how you ran the fuel lines to the motor. Thank you so much.
What year Z28 did the upper hose come from and what serpentine belt did you use? I currently have a V8 swapped 89 S10 and plan on making some room with the Vette water pump & mercruiser pulley.
Anybody else get an odd satisfaction every time he goes from fastener to fastener and tightens it to spec with that torque wrench and get that “click” or am I just weird? 😂
The lock plate isn't supposed to just pop off. Someone has been in there before and put it together wrong. You're supposed to compress the spring enough for the circlip to fit into the grove and lock the lock plate down. This way you'll find the steering wheel will move in and out and won't lock. You have the right tools to donit right in your kit right there, you should do it right. In the right position the dust cap on the lock plate will fill in that gap and look nice.
That makes more sense. I know the person I bought the truck from had replaced that turn signal switch before. The C-clip wasn't even installed. Thank you very much for sharing that information! I will work on that!! It's funny, I had no issue with the Jimmy's steering wheel because it hadn't been tampered with. It always sucks to have to figure out someone else's past mistakes.
The lock plate wasn't installed right. That should take care of the gap, the prior owner did not compress the spring and set the c-clip properly and I didn't catch it in the moment LOL. In other words, the lock plate is actually pushing the steering wheel out a tad too far.
I don’t think that’s a thing, I’ve never heard of that being done, if it’s even possible. Sounds like a lot of headache for not much reward lol. I’ll go over break-in during the first start video.
@@saabkyle04 Well, the kit doesn't necessarily have to be tailor made to the S-10. It could be for another vehicle that closely matches the dimensions of the S-10 frame. You could probably make it work rather easily.
You should have added an oil cooler! Not the crappy gm lines, but making a custom version using heater hoses and using the original oil cooler housing on the block of c1500 350s.
C D I’ve seen those but wasn’t sure if it was a direct swap or not. I can’t find any info out there. Some cars have different horn setups too that require modification. I’m happy with the typhoon wheel, it’s a neat conversation piece.
Saabkyle04 I’m not entirely sure either but the horn wiring and everything underneath looked to be the same from when I had to take the steering wheel off of my 89. But I do agree with you the typhoon wheel makes a great conversation piece.
If the lock plate just popped off then it wasn't installed correctly or the shaft and plate is getting wore out. Because of the indent groove on the shaft it should be impossible to remove the lock ring without the plate press.
You are right, the previous owner had replaced the turn signal stalk before and must've taken the lock plat off too. I wasn't even thinking about that in the moment. I'll get it pressed on properly and that should take care of everything.
Going carb? So sad. Should have used one of those Holley EFI systems, FiTech, or Edelbrock fuel injection systems. Not sure why you wanted to dump the fuel injection to go backwards with a carb setup.
tokuzumi1 Why is it sad? Opinions aside, I literally have said this entire series that I wanted to build the truck more old school with minimal electronics. That steering upgrade looks so good. Slowly but surely, the S-10 is taking shape.
AWESOME work so far, Kyle! Nothing feels better than putting together a project entirely by yourself!
Thanks bro!!
You are You Tube gold. Thanks for making this for us to watch!
You should do a audio system replacement In the S10 like you did with the Jimmy

Remember to add a hoseclamp on the upper radio hose on the thermostat housing ;)

Chevy lumina 3 spoke leather wheels work and look amazing. Probably the same deal as far as gap goes

Hey Kyle, wouldn't it be more worth your investment to swap a rack and pinion steering system. Also, what are your plans for the camshaft break-in.

Daniel Huerta Kinda seems pointless for a street truck, but I’m sure it can be added later if needed.
Go oil cooler hoses are designed for oil heater hose is designed for glycol/water,,, the heater hose will not last
You should do an LED upgrade on this truck like the Jimmy

Are you going to be repainting the truck
Why not Olds Maroon/Burgundy
Kyle, do you have parts numbers for your steering box and steering shaft? Thanks in advance.
