    In today's video, I'll be diving into the most significant portion of this project, swapping in a mildly built 350 SBC V8! Everyone's feedback on the project in the last episode was taken into consideration and I very much appreciate it! I'll be incorporating many of your ideas throughout this series to create one sweet truck. There's still a lot to figure out, so let's take it one thing at a time. Firs thing's first, I'll be completely tearing down the front end to make removing the engine a lot easier, while laying the foundation for the steering and suspension rebuild! It's going to be awesome!

      RUclips's new algorithm has really hurt my channel. They don't have a subscriber based system anymore, it's all about playing their "game" and making mass appealing content. It's ok though, the vast majority of people who watch my videos are passionate automotive enthusiasts and as long as I can still make a living and have fun, that's all that matters.

    As far as the cruise control works, I've heard you can use the 4.3 TBI system to run a 350SBC. It's very similar to what the TBI 350 full size trucks had (and potentially the same), so it could be as easy as an ECU PROM swap for the different fuel maps (TBI harnesses and ECUs are all the same, just different PROM chips and throttle bodies pretty much). I've got a 1991 4x4 4.3/5spd so I'm loving all these square body s10/blazer videos!

      I know I would need a 700r4 trans for a 4.3 to butt if I can get the engine that's a start for me . Mine was originally a 2.54cyl automatic but had a blown head so I swapped to a 2.8 and now that engine isn't any good so now best bet is ive been trying to find a 4.3v6 to swap in my truck it's not a v8 but idc I rather rebuilt that then anything else lol I've never had a 4.3 that definitely wake my truck up more and be alot better in the long run I would love to do a v8 but that's not in the funds to do that sadly .

      @@KnuckleHeadGarage27 I don't think it would really be much more expensive to swap in a V8. You could probably get a used Vortech and a 4l60 fairly cheap. I've seen V8 swap kits on Ebay pretty cheap. You're going to probably need a bigger radiator with a 4.3L anyway. I have a 4.3L in my 97 S10. It's ok but it's not fast or anything. Not what I'd consider fast anyway. Mine is a factory 4.3L with a 5 speed transmission. It would probably run a 16 or 17 in the quarter mile. And...mine is in good running condition uses no oil,it does have freeway gears 3.08.

    • @Thundarr995
      @Thundarr995 4 года назад

      @@KnuckleHeadGarage27 another thing...I'm pretty sure that the TH700R4 from the 4.3L has weaker internal components than one from a V8. There's several different versions of the 4l60,which shares many internal components with the TH700R4. My friend has a transmission shop,he explained the differences. Personally I'd use a TH350 or a 400 just to not have to mess with the lock up converter on the 700.

    Hey Kyle, great video! Will you be looking to keep the red interior? Will you fix it up at all or maybe try and find a red leather interior? Also, do you think you'll try and find another digital gauge cluster to swap into this as well, especially considering the different engine swap, could help it display the engine info better but I'm not sure if it would be possible.

    • @saabkyle04
      @saabkyle04  4 года назад +1

      The digital display I used in the Jimmy probably wouldn't be the best option for this truck. If I went digital, it'd probably be something from Dakota Digital, but I'm not sure yet. Have to see if it's worth spending that later on after paint and body. I will definitely keep the red interior, I love it. Currently thinking of ways I can restore it but still keep it pretty original.

    I'm also really looking forward to seeing the Chevlle take up some form, mainly because of the sentimental value it carries and I am all about seeing such precious things be given a new lease of life :D What colour would you finish that in ? A patina would be good, but a vintage colour, something like a blueish green would be cooler :D

In fact, I will probably transfer over all of the LED lights on the Jimmy to the S10 at some point. I'm looking forward to the Chevelle too! My plan is to transition into it at some point this year. It needs a bunch of work and we've had it long enough that something needs to start happening with it! My wife wants to perhaps repaint it in the original champagne color. I love the vintage hues!

    Hello form Chicago Land. How are the projects going? Seems like you are making great progress, I know that you are busy with the S10 and the 240, but I’m curious about how the house and the ‘69 Chevelle are going. By the way the Blazer looks like it just rolled off the assembly line. I’m looking forward to seeing the finish product of each project, especially the house. Good luck on your projects and happy holidays.
    P.S. I assume you will do an in-depth tour of each vehicle when it’s completed it but will you do a house tour?

      Hey Brad, thanks a lot! The house progress has been slow. Ran into some unforeseen delay that I hope will be sorted by the first of the year so we can really dive back into it. We've made progress with plumbing and septic, amongst other things, so we've still been able to keep up with it to a degree. I really really want to start the Chevelle this year in some capacity. Most likely, it'll be when I get close to finishing this truck or when I get further into the crew cab s10. I have too many projects and I've been looking forward to the chevelle for a very long time so I want to try and make something happen for 2020. Yes, I will of course make tour videos of everything! Aww man, I really hate to hear that! Here's a friendly suggestion, instead of getting rid of it, how about using it for parts? If you find another truck that's in decent shape or better than your grandpa's, that could still use work, take the two trucks and make one nice truck. That way, part of your grandpa's truck gets to live on in the one you restored! Either way, best of luck my dude!

    Hey that transmission fluid does not look so good. I think that you should probably look into getting a remanufactured transmission considering that it chirped the tries going into reverse. I think it wouldn't be advisable to rebuild it yourself. And that 350 may be too much power for it. Have you looked into the possiblity of getting a beefed up 700r4?

    • @saabkyle04
      @saabkyle04  4 года назад

      Yes, yes and yes!! What could cause it to lurch like that? I've been wondering that myself. The truck has 3.08 gears in it. It wants to lurch pretty bad in drive too. With no weight out back at the moment, you notice it more. I've only driven it around the land, never on the road and the trans felt ok, but I don't think the mechanicals of this truck were looked after very good the more I get into it. That being said, I ordered a beefed up 700R4 from TCI so everything will be fresh and proper for the 350. I don't think the original 700R4 would last very long behind the 350.

    • @legostar55
      @legostar55 4 года назад +1

      @@saabkyle04 An aggressive band or clutch pack application can cause lurching. You should check the governor valve. A sticking governor valve can cause harsh shifts from Park to Reverse or Park to Drive. Because it sticks you can think of it as holding a rubber band. You pull and pull and eventually it goes POW. That is what the governor may be doing.

    • @legostar55
      @legostar55 4 года назад +1

      @@saabkyle04 But I'm not entirely sure if that is the culprit. I guess since you ordered a new transmission it doesn't REALLY matter. I think you should rebuild it though (or at least try to) it would be an awesome learning experience.
