Man, I've been up to date on your projects on facebook but it's been an eternity since I sae your videos. I remember you filming cars at dealerships and then getting a better camera all the way to buying the Charger and getting married. Now this and your house, it's been a journey and I'm very glad for you. Keep the great work!!
I did a frame off restoration on a 66 Short bed Chevy PU back in the day when I was about your age. Your vids brings back a lot of fun memories. It's is such a satisfying feeling when you put the new hardware back together when it's all shiny and new. There was no such thing as YT back then, haha! hell the internet hadn't even been invented yet. Your doing it right by getting sponsors, good luck, I look forward to seeing how this S10 comes out in the end.
Thanks so much Tim, that means a lot. I am very fortunate to be where I'm at with all of this. I still have sooo much to learn, but that's half the fun right? I really appreciate the support and encouragement!!
Not going to lie. Since ive started watching your vids I got really big into s10s. I recently went out and bought a 1982 single cab 7 1/3ft box s10 that just so happens to be the 182nd s10 ever built. Thanks for all of the inspiration. Love the vids. Keep it up man!
When you change it to a 350 V8 you should change the “4.3 FUEL INJECTION” badges to the “8 350” or the “350”. Or you could make custom ones such as “5.7 V8”.
Blazer bumper would be a nice touch, it would still look oem but be something different. Also you should look into an explorer 8.8 rear end it’s a common s10 upgrade and will give you disc rear brakes and a stronger rear axle.
If you were to want some more payload capacity, I'd say add a leaf from the factory spring you removed to the lowering leaf springs. There is the issue that it will obviously add some height, but I think you can handle that one way or another. As for the swap, will you keep it carbed, or will you go with fuel injection, either through TBI or port injection?
I thought about that when I was installing the springs. If anything, maybe adding the lower spring, I think maybe that is what's called the helper spring, I'm not sure. I don't plan on carrying anything meaningful in this truck, but the option is always there, especially if the rear end ends up being too low after the 350 swap. I'm sticking with a 650 cfm carb. I've owned many older vehicles with carbs so I'm used to them. I want to be as simple as possible with this truck.
Not a comment about this particular project but I think it would be really awesome to see you do an old Taurus SHO restoration. They are awesome forgotten sleepers and there is a large community of owners and enthusiasts. I have 1991 and have enjoyed every second of trying to restore it to its original condition. The Yamaha engine makes it a thrill to drive especially being a 5 speed in a sedan
If you do the true dual exhaust make sure to get an x-pipe it’ll help performance also as to the rear bumper thoughts of deleting it and having a smooth rear end? Just a simple piece of sheet metal.
Yeah man, I'm sure with some pipes on it it's better than just being wide open. The higher RPMs like you said is where the difference really comes out.
Lookd great but for the rear end. They have a ford 9" conversation that is rock solid. Put a Detroit locker in it and it will handle that 350 plus some.
Yeah I agree wholeheartedly to keep a stock-ish bumper. I hate some of the things I've seen on the back of pickups. A nice big "original" chrome bumper looks best IMO
I don't know anyone around me that does rechroming, but I did think about that! If anything, I'll probably just keep a "stock" look by refurbishing the impact strip or trying to track down a new one.
@@saabkyle04 you could paint the bumpers satin black. That'd give you a chance to weld the holes in if you wanted to go that route. I remember seeing an NOS Blazer rear bumper strip for like $200. But I think rockauto or lmc has them cheaper.
you will have to swap the rear end out .....i went with a ford 9in but i have a lsxt56 500hp+ in a drag set up it you have anything close to 350 or more most go for the ford 8.8 but its alot of work .....12 bolt is another option but in the end its all what you want to spend and how much you beat on it.
Technically the blazer/jimmy bumper should be a bolt on situation since they are the same platform as the s10. Most definitely swap out the stock diff with a limited slip diff!
Would love to see a custom grille made that resembles the new front on the Silverado. That would be an amazing mod. Along with led conversion for the headlights and tail lights.
It's better to work on multiple projects from my point of view. I really don't want to use the Holley carb on it just for their TPS sensor setup, it's just huge and just pretty ugly.
Wait...why did you paint the brake drums? Did you only use the engine enamel or did you use the rust inhibitor, self-etching primer, truck bed coating and engine enamel? I would think you could only use the enamel because the brake drums get hot.
I painted them because they looked terrible lol. I used everything except for the bed liner. Painting drums is no different than painting calipers, it doesn't affect anything.

On bumpers, check out LMC Truck. They're great on better than OEM parts for GM, Ford or Dodge.
No one carries repro rear bumpers for S10s, only '91-'94 S10 Blazers and they're a different style than the '83-'90 bumpers.
