    I really appreciated the over the shoulder shot. It’s nice to see the angle of the grinder and how it changes the foot.

    Thanks, that was helpful. My gelding often has separation. I will try the Durasole and Artimud after trimming and cleaning.

      @@DaisyHavenFarm thank you! which volt and blade size? I see a 18v 4 1/2 inch size. Is that the one? Also looking for info on balancing tips. We have a narrow based Arab mare that wears unevenly due to weaving. Her natural conformation is straight but get toed out in between trimmings.

    I’m curious about the hairline, as it’s commonly described as an indicator of proximal/distal distortion?

  • @comesahorseman
    @comesahorseman Год назад +1

    Those 2 separations are roughly diagonally opposed; is this significant i.e., related to break over?? Thanks!

    • @DaisyHavenFarm
      @DaisyHavenFarm  Год назад +1

      I think the location of the separations here is more about how the foot is loaded. The medial quarter is weak because of overloading the inside of the hoof. (offset capsule, rolling medially) and on the lateral because that's the part of her foot that grows the longest and the leverage pulls on the laminae.

    This was great to watch. Do you recommend shoes to protect the separations?

    • @DaisyHavenFarm
      @DaisyHavenFarm  Год назад

      It's definitely helpful to provide a barrier to keep the separations clean until they can grow out. Whether that's a shoe or packing the separations with artimud etc.

    can i ask why you didn't remove the hard lump in the middle of the back of the frog? i've seen people say it needs to be there (frog stay) and some that say it's dead hard material that gets pushed up and causes discomfort, not allowing the frog to expand properly so should be removed. Just wondering your thoughts on it.

    • @DaisyHavenFarm
      @DaisyHavenFarm  Год назад +2

      Great question! My goal was to relieve the lump from the ground to prevent pressure and to facilitate access for treatment of the surrounding thrush. I didn't remove it completely because I didn't feel it would help any more than relieving it from being too tall did anyway. I hope that helps!

    This is very dangerous and vert stupid with the grinder.leave it to a proper farrier

    • @DaisyHavenFarm
      @DaisyHavenFarm  11 месяцев назад +3

      I trim with a grinder every day, quite safely. It’s not about the tool, it’s about the skills and knowledge of the person using it. Just because it’s not your choice, or the choice of other farriers doesn’t make it bad, or wrong. 🥰

    • @Guruton10
      @Guruton10 10 месяцев назад

      if she did she would not be using a grinder.If a grinder was a proper safe alternative tool then why do no proffessional Farriers use them!!!!
