My barefoot trimmer tried to V it and left it and the crack did not go away. So I tried your method Becky and it worked! Thanks so much for this wonderful method! It definitely works.
You should not be allowed near horses. This is disgusting. Stop trying to be a trained farrier or trimmer just to save some money. If any viewer has any sense, you will NOT follow this advice and will seek out a trained practitioner to deal with your horse's hoof problems. 😐
+Emily Dodman It is very common to use copper sulfate for horses. Get over yourself thinking you know everything. If you disagree with what she is suggesting then don't do it.
+Amy Blake are you a trained farrier? I'm guessing no. I have a horse, have a bachelors degree in Equine Science with honours and have been around horses my entire life, but have NEVER seen anyone use this method or copper sulphate on a horse. Maybe where you are from they do, but this would be completely unacceptable by any sane person's standards. Whytrim or correct a horse's hooves, when we have farrier and veterinary surgeons who have trained for many years? When my horse came to me she had terrible hoof cracks, majority of the time they are caused by poor shoeing and/or weather changes I.e. From wet to dry. As soon as I got her into a routine with the farrier and followed his advice, 12 months down the line she has completely healthy feet with zero cracks and the perfect shoe balance. I'm sure she treats her horses in this way all the time.. As it is probably a reoccurring problem due to poor treatment! I wrote this comment to hopefully stop others following this poor advice!
Emily Dodman I don't have a degree and even I know this is terrible treatment but no one here listens. because she's got 160,000 subscribers every one thinks she knows it all
Maybe it's time someone sends the animal police out there to see what she's doing. I really believe she thinks she's doing it right, but most of the time she's trying to fix what she caused herself in the first time.
I understand you're trying to help people but your trimming practices are causing your issues. Then soaking and softening the healthy tissue, inviting more infection.
this hoof is a catastrophe - before and after this "treatment". Absolutely disgusting to watch how people whithout knowledge think they have such one and are allowed to treat animals!
his toe is too long. that's why he has the crack. if you give him a balanced trim and keep him that way, the crack will grow out and it won't come back. you can tell his toe is too long by the fact that it was chipped.
Thank you for making this video. Everything was explained very well, its easy to follow and its quite helpful. I hadn't heard of using copper sulfate for killing fungus before, but have used it for removing proud flesh. Glad to hear there are other uses for it. Thank you!
You can prevent a lot of these problems by having a qualified farrier take care of those hooves on a regular (every 6-8 weeks maximum) basis. Stop cheaping out and take care of your horses properly!
Royce Grace McConnell Not surprisingly, she has another video on hoof abscesses where she talks about having treated a lot of abscesses. The poor horse could about cover a dinner plate with his hoof.
If it's a barefoot horse, using a farrier to do the trimming is one of things that create these cracks. Farriers leave too much surface at the bottom of the hoof wall which can cause shredding and even these cracks. Use an experienced and/or certified barefoot trimmer if you're keeping your horse barefoot, and use a radius rasp about once a week.
Do you know how many natural remedies there are for horses or any animal? You know how many Chemicals go into your horse? Lots. Did you know there are plants naturally out there that horses eat that relieves pain? You don't know all of it.
Shows you the degree of brainwashing people have when they are fans of Rick Gore Root Kill is just a brand name and it is copper sulfate in crystal form ... I literally laughed when I saw the parroting comments Like we call this a Clue it was actually hilarious for her to be using his exact words LOL
I think I did say I don't use chemicals that are not intended for horses, please learn how to read, you did make your self look uneducated. I use what my vet and farrier tell me to because they are the ones who went to school and paid for a education. I will not follow or expose my horses to dumb ass back yard remedies.
Trim the hoof properly & the crack will magically go away. Was able trim a V and the crack was gone, trim the flares on the hoof and they will quit spreading hoof and causing the crack. She says it doesn't but yes it does, according to physics and anatomy. No reason to soak or pack ;)
That is not always true. There are issues like fungal infections and abscesses that can cause that cracking. You do not have enough information on the cause to be so judgemental.
@@rJadyw the horse was self trimming at the toe and not on the quarters of the toe. It’s easy to see it needed a better trim and a soak in water would be good but opening up the inside of the hoof isn’t needed.
Im gonna give you some advice- Dont take offense, but please be aware that you need to fix the problem, not the symptom. I see that you are trying to do the hoofcare yourself- you have stated that you have "treated" many horses like you are doing with this one. If it were me, I would probably take these videos on hoofcare down until you have had some experience properly trimming a horse. While your method of cleaning out a crack may work, its not going go fix the problem going on here, which is overgrowth. The reason your horses hooves are chipping is simply due to neglected hoofcare. Having your hoofwall chip away is NOT good at all, and not normal for any horse unless overgrown.. it's caused by lack of natural wear- when a horse is not living in a natural/wild environment.. and then neglect in trimmings to keep the hoofwall at a proper heigh. I am a natural hoof care provider, and have been for 12+ years. I am willing to help you in any way possible to understand hoof care with a natural or holistic approach. The bottom line is when a horses hooves are chipping away like youra are and have cracking as well, they have way too much hoofwall growth, and you could really cause your horses a lot of damage by letting them get to that point. I have done hoof reconstruction on several horses whose owners either couldnt afford to trim their horses regularly, or just didnt believe it necessary and let them break off on their own, as you are doing yourself- some will break dang near, or all the way up to the coronary band- causing extensive damage and deformity when/if you are able yo grow that hoofwall out again in a year or so. Please dont be teaching people that chipping hooves are normal or healthy... because it should be avoided. Have your horses trimmed at a proper interval of every 4-6 weeks, and you should never have any problems with your horses hooves cracking or chipping unless they stand in feces/urine all day or have a really poor diet. If you'd like any help, Im more than happy to help point you in the right direction!
You may think you know everything for hoof care but do you know how many other methods from decades or hundreds of years ago? No you don't, there are things that you may think will have bad effects actually help. Your close minded
Yes, actually- I do know a little something about hoofcare and methods throughout the ages. That is something I studied very intently and continue to study all of the time as new information comes forward. :)
Yes- sorry. I do hope that you have your issue resolved by now, as I just now found this comment.. but I would be more than happy to help you. You can contact me here on RUclips or through TooFarNorthIdaho@Gmail.com
I remember seeing this as a youngster and thinking it was pretty bad, now that I am several months into farrier school it is physically painful to watch this bs.
Naomi Waldron So do I and I´ve seen this appaloosa several times already... And why would someone let his horse be treated by her. Especially with hooves like this...
I actually am really close to consider this abuse. Also, as many other people have said, with proper trimming habits from a TRAINED professional, would prevent these cracks. Personally I will never use this method especially without proper tools like her.
Messylife this shit can kill people. why would you want to put it into a horses hoof? I don't know if you know but the hoof is essentially the equivalent of a finger nail. would you put it on your cracked nail? I sure as shit wouldn't. this woman is neglecting these animals. these chips and cracks wouldn't even be here if she knew how to take care of them properly. just because she has 160,000 subs doesn't mean she knows what the hell shes doing.
no you should not be digging in to the hoof she went so deep and the put that poison in the horses on the horses hoof then the water when everywhere and got on the horses hay
Bleach kills more people you are a moron for blindly following what Gore said you need to do your research otherwise you are a fucking idiot this is a treatment that has been used for many years ... root killer is just a product name copper sulfate has been used many years Root killer is a crystallized form. no other ingred are toxic other than the copper sulfate itself. it is easier to work with than the liquid form and the powder form articles I posted in Gore's video prove the point farriers even take sections of hoof wall out so that necrotic tissue can be removed . before treatment. this shit saved my mare who had hidden WLD from heel to heel in three of her hooves.
k95831 some one who knows what they are doing asshat. And does not follow Rick gore blindly if you don't know what you are talking about shit the fuck up. All these people came here because of Rick gore not educating himself before he ran his mouth off. Go to his review and read the articles that make him look like an idiot on this one

pdbabe yes. while he splashed it all over the hay. what a great horse owner! yikes..everything she is doing is cringeworthy. my uncle is a farrier. show'd him this and the amount of language he used at her..😂
My Olympic farrier (yes, he is used for U.S. Olympic horses) said this chemical is good. She seems to know what she's doing about this. It's not abuse. The farrier would have done it as well and would have probably resectioned the hoof off some. So she was more conservative. I think she did fine.
lady please stop trying to be a farrier, you have no idea what you are doing. 1st the stuff that is growing in the crack is not a fungus, it is a anaerobic bacteria (thrives without oxygen). and your hoof is way too long creating an imbalance, hence that is why you have a toe crack. by the way I am a professional farrier with over 20 years experience.
i mean....the crack went away didnt it......... and even if it is bacteria it has to be killed some how maybe she knows its bacteria just accidentally called it a fungus....but the cracks gone so i think she knows what shes doing....many different ways to treat a crack yours might be better in your opinion....hers in hers shes just getting th info out there and the people can decide how they want to take care of it.
first off talent is spelled wrong. and I am a professional farrier. this lady doesn't have enough talent to carry my tools the proper way to actually treat this crack is to back the toe up put the foot back into balance
Seen that horse's hoove in a video dated after this one a year later the crack is not there. Mine you she was treating the same hoove and same horse for an abcess in that foot. Sorry for the spelling. There is some stuff I don't agree like no anti biotics to help with the infection. But I am not sure if he needed it at the time. As I am not a vet. But hopefully she would have gotten him help if it gotten worse. I hope. She seems to care about her animals more then some others I have seen and known.
Trimming the feet more regularily, bevel them and adress the ''corners'' on the side ofthe toe, you most probably wouldn't get the crack to start with. While chipping is natural and good in a sense, the hoof should not get long enough to start chipping.
Have you ever used koppertox on your horse's thrush, stuff sold in the farm stores for thrush? That stuff dyes your arms a weird blue green color if it splashes past your gloves, and splash is the key word when my horse yanks his foot and redirects the spray. The glasses aren't a bad idea. I'm like many here. I was concerned about using this product, but it's the product used to create copper napthenate which is the primary active ingredient in Koppertox. Copper Sulfate is also used for athlete's foot products and is bound into the flooring of some showers. I looked up the chem chart for uses of copper sulfate. Interestingly, there is a forum that had a lot of comments about using this product for thrush. I'm not sure about packing it in there, but soaking looks fine based on the chemical breakdown.
I do most of my own trimming etc - I do not need a farrier very often at all. I use all natural remedies for my animals and rarely have any issues. I keep them trimmed myself - keep them out of wet or "full of waste" areas so as not to create any issues. You do not HAVE to be a farrier to know what you are doing. Some farriers are not so good either. You are not the judge Jeanette. You do not have enough information on her to issue such a statement.
No you do not need a " real farrier " to keep your horses sound. You do need knowledge. In my more then 35 years of horse keeping I have seen alot of horses hurt by " real farriers ". Very high heels fad, very long toe fad, full pads when not needed, shoes nailed on at the back of the foot keeping the heel from expanding on landings, thin the soles, cut the frog out....I got very tired of " real farriers " started reading everything I could get my hands on, talked to vets, and yes even " real farriers " I trim my 5 myself and they are sounder then when I had real farriers triming. Knowledge is the key.
hi becky, great video. I have a tip we use. take a half sheet of construction paper or a kind of stiff paper. fold in half, put your medication inside. lay flat on table, take the medicine bottle roll over paper where medication is. now it's a powered. hold paper up crease down like "V" it will pour right it the hole.
I could NOT believe what I was witnessing in this video! The trim is HORRIBLE. The trim is not balanced at all. There is heavy bar down to the apex and pinching the frog and coming off the heel quarters. Dead sole and bar covering the enitre sole. Toes are far too long which is causing the extra leverage at the toe and causing the toe crack. The heels are too high and not brought back to the widest part of the heel. Too many things wrong with this trim. THAT is why you have a toe crack.
The last video I watched said to trim down the pillars so that distortion doesn’t keep opening the crack I believe that too. I believe what you’re doing I believe distortion also opens up the crack thank you. Copper sulfate is the best. I buy it in a tube already liquid form and it’s good for jockey and foot fungus too. The only thing that’s helped lol
Wait...root killer? I don't care if it has 'special properties' or something but it's a chemical used to kill stuff. Isn't that a warning enough to not put it on a living thing?
wait a minut we have never seen that horse after that video oh shit did it die f@##@23 it better not be or i am calling the humain susity and the f@#@# cops
Can we please talk about WHY your horses feet look like that in the first place?! That's horrendous. Between the "chips" (that's far beyond just some chips...) But when you leave the toe as long as you did, and do DIY farrier work you learn from a RUclips video? This is what you get. Please, don't assure people with confidence that what you're doing is okay. It's not. By horse is worth the $50 trim by a professional who understands his individual bone structure.
Better solution to prevent fungal growth: Don't make the hoof moist (inviting bacteria), don't clog it with cotton (keeping it moist longer), and LEARN HOW TO TIE A ROPE HALTER!
Kelly Johnson you obviously aren't educated in the horse department. remember not everyone on the internet knows wth they are doing. proof in case number one: why soak and pack the hoof and then not wrap it? you essentially ruin what you just did....and that was point in case number one. need I go further?
This was shot quite a while ago. I sold Pongo to my sister in KY. Pongo is a hard keeper and stays lean unless you dump a lot of grain to him. Thin idles not mean unhealthy. Pongo is very strong and healthy.
Yup you explained exactly what's going with our horse..it's a pain..we tried the opening it up..still cracks...I have a certified farrier..I just might try this...thank you
Many comments tearing this lady up but haven't seen one yet with the solution, or a link to a video on how to treat cracks. What have I seen? Comments of people telling her they tried this and it worked.
What a good horse! He was just standing there while the puppy walked around his legs and under his stomach. I've never had a horse that actually liked dogs so i think thats pretty cool.
I have had multiple farriers that I have FIRED because they did not know what they were doing !!!!! . My horse developed cracks and no he is not housed in a mud pen . the last farrier said His hooves were so out of balanced that is why the flairs and cracks were in his feet every time the farriers left he could not walk for several weeks I kept trying to get the last farrier to debride the holes but again NO it takes time he said just give me about 5 months. I was at my wits end. now that was 3 farriers I went through. Finally I called the vet and when they debrided the hoofs it had huge infected holes 4 of them the farriers kept saying it is going to take some time for them to get in shape. well I was livid now a few thousand dollars later. he is still suffering . the vet gave me some solution to pack the cracks she said it was vinegar and copper sulfate. that being said Becky your horse hooves look GREAT. old time Equine vets are wonderful seems to me they had horse health in mind in stead of making a killing off your horse's malady
Do your research, you clearly know nothing, copper sulfate soaking in hooves is something I have used for many horses I’ve trained that had cracks in their hooves, it worked wonders and the crack completely disappeared. This is a common practice that has been used for many years, you do not need a professional farrier to treat cracks, i have tried that method and they didnt go away. So do your research before acting like you know everything because no one does. I am not saying this to be mean, I am just saying this because it’s true.
what if she dose not have extra money to be calling an overly expensive farrier? and like she said in the beginning a farrier taught her how to do that, and obviously you have not watched to the end because she has proof that it works.
Suzy Kidd she has to keep the puppy from getting poisoned.... apparently she's "attached" to the dog. Where is a horses face most of the day? Between it's front legs. Right next to root killer. So it's fine for the horse, but not for the dog nor her eyes... hence the Bill Nye the science guy goggles.
Help! I just rescued my guy. His toe cracks were on 3 hooves and diagnosed as grass cracks by the ferrier. He completely dismissed my concerns. The front hooves are growing out but the back hoof went from growing out to all the way up to the coronary band on his rest days. I call the ferrier and he told me "we can show him if it bothers you". The horse isn't acting lame or like it's sensitive but I don't want it to get worse. I just started him on hoof supplements and hoof dressing.
DO NOT USE THIS METHOD. IT IS DANGEROUS TO THE HORSE AND IS NOT EFFECTIVE BECAUSE IT DOESN'T ADDRESS THE CAUSE. WHY? Read below: First, the reason most farriers cut out the area around a crack is to stop dirt from getting trapped in the area which allows bacteria to grow. Often that is all that can be Immediately done for a crack. It is NOT recommend that you dig into the sole and wall when you are this inexperienced because you are only opening up the live portion of the foot to more bacteria if you go too deep. Moreover, putting a toxic substance into that hole is also going to kill more hoof tissue, creating a food source for bad bacteria, killing good bacteria and creating a cycle of thrush issues that don't resolve or even abcess. This method doesn't work because cracks are formed by uneven weight bearing on the hoof capsule, which causes parts of the hoof wall to break apart. This extra stress can be caused by trims that don't balance the load onto the foot equally, irregular trimming, and changes in environment. To treat the issue, an owner should use a reputable farrier who knows what he or she is doing, schedule regular trims, and depending on how severe the crack is, a bar shoe should be applied to take strain off of that portion of the capsule and allow healthy growth. She did nothing good for this horse, and she's telling ignorant people to do the same. Shame on her!
If the farrier does his work well the crack WON'T come back. And he surely won't use a Swiss knife. It's absolutely shocking what this woman is claiming and doing. To be honest, I find it close to animal abuse.
My grandpa was a veterinarian & I grew up around horsemen & farriers on the one time largest 1 owner cattle ranch in the world "Parker Ranch" & never have I seen anyone use chemicals like that on a horses hoof. I do know that the Ranch had a paddock just for horse's when they were being treated for severely cracked hooves. They walked in tall grass...weren't kept in stalls or in stables because of urine & feces in the straw. And every horseman I know took special care of their horses hooves ALL the time...
+Kohala Iron Works Look around, do you think that is how it is now? I have seen and know of horses that get regular farrier care and live with cracks. The first step is to know what causes them and why they wont go away before you can fix them.
You haven't been to the Islands, so you don't know our level of horse care. I haven't cut down your way of caring for horses hooves... Why not take it out on your haters??? We don't get a fungus problem inspite of the moisture we have here in Hawai`i. Our Ranch horses don't step or stand in urine/feces soaked straw. They spend majority of their lives in pastures. If you want to know how well my family knows horses Google up Dr. Leonard Newton Case DVM, or Loyal To The Land by Dr. Billy Bergin. You mentioned "fungus" as the cause...I'm letting you know how not to have a fungus problem, which I learned from my grandpa & the best horsemen in Parker Ranch & Hawaiian Ranching history... Your Dr. Gore wasn't even born when my grandpa was practicing veterinary medicine & neither were you. He also was the overseer of the Honolulu Zoo & he & his brother started the horse program @ Kapi`olani Park in Waikiki... Being he was the leading pathologist of his time & cured horse & cattle epidemics here in the Hawaiian Islands!!! I'm the wrong guy to start with...plus I made no attack on you...so back up lady...
I do not agree with the ladies explanation. many crack burnt across the top has in many istances allowed the crack to grow down and out, "No more crack "
oh for a tip for other horse owners when you have to pick the horses hoof when you can't get your horse to pit down all there weight on it so they don't put there self's in danger of a lame foot you can go on the other side and kind of pish them and the will put all there wait on it again so they don't become lame so hope this tip helps!!!!
I understand the point the other comments are making, but saying she needs a "real", "certified", "professional" farrier is not what homesteading is about. At least my definition of it, it's about becoming independent by building your own house off the grid, growing your own food, raising your own animals and such. To me it's not really homesteading if you're seeking skills in other people that you should know as a homesteader. I'm not saying to be your own doctor but it doesn't hurt to know first aid, apply that this situation. She's trying her best to cure a problem, which seems to work, and maybe she knows by now it's not the best method. The feedback is really harsh, even if it's years old.
What's so funny about all of these comments is yes she is no ferrier but she trying... she should have taken advantage and advice from a farrier.. however u also dont learn without doing ...... and everybody is quick to bash her and her practices but they are all the ones hiring people to do the work she doing... when on a homestead u dont always have access to the people or resources....... and yes I believe that 90% of the comments are prissy people .... and the abuse thing ... not su re e where any of u r from ...but in nj .. the law is very weak when owning a horse food shelter ... proper med meaning shots ... dept of ag is very lax ... not only that but SPCA is not in this state have any jurisdiction over farms ... horse cattle or such no matter of other animals being there ...
I have written down you info and the name of this video. I have a ferrier appt in about 2 hours. I am hoping he will take some time and help me with this..hope he agrees. My mustang now has a hoof crack on her other front hoof....damn!! Thank you so much for this video. Wish you would come to Oklahoma and help me with the initial cleaning the crack out!
All you people leaving these negative comments obviously never tried the natural way! I used this method. I bought a horse where nothing helped to get a very bad crack out of her foot. She was even on shoes for 3 years before I got her. My horse was never lame in the cracked foot, and the crack (which was nearly all the way to the top!¬) is now nearly completely gone! It is possible to teach yourself to rim your horse's feet. I would never suggest anyone to use snips though, only rasping.
What kind of horse is your horse? He is GORGEOUS!! At first I thought his name was Taco and then I watched again and realized it something with an f or a p. LOL! I was ridding a pony and I sort of don't know what cracks look like. Also I'm ridding a school horse, and so it's not my horse. So if it has cracks what do you guys think I should do?
Not being rude. But u know nothing about horse Hoofs u never dig into a horses hood the hood crack will heal on its own never put root killer in ur horses hoof and the horse is pulling away bc he's in pain! Why do u put root killer in ur horses hoof bc that will cause infection and it will possible hurt him! Go check out Rick or think like a horse he has some good advice and made a video about u. I'm just trying to earn u form the dangers this
"When i dump this I'm not gonna dump it near a tree or anything valuable to me" so your horse isn't valuable to u? You'll put it in your horses hoof with cotton balls? Wow that's sad
Oh she got it right! She can't just just dump it anywhere! Not on anything valuable, just like she said. But it's ok to stuff your horses hoof with it #logic (If anyone was wondering I'm being sarcastic, I don't agree with what she is doing at all)
That was very informative thanks! My only question is that there is crystal or powder form of copper sulfate. Would powder be better or would you stick with the crystal.>I just thought the powder would dissolve faster. You look like you've done that a time or 2!!! Thanks again for info.
KrazyTwo Kats she wasn’t digging the crack bigger, she was opening the area to make it easier to see the depth of the crack a bit more and to make it easier to pack. Pay more attention to the video.
My barefoot trimmer tried to V it and left it and the crack did not go away. So I tried your method Becky and it worked! Thanks so much for this wonderful method! It definitely works.

You’ve never seen copper sulfate used on hooves…???…. You haven’t seen much then…
The reason I learned to trim my own horses hooves is because I got tired of them making my horses lame and tired of their attitudes. Good Job, Becky .
I too made the switch to learning to do them myself as well....I couldn't take the holier-than-thou attitudes anymore either 👍
I understand you're trying to help people but your trimming practices are causing your issues. Then soaking and softening the healthy tissue, inviting more infection.
Soaking with copper sulfate is done to treat hoof infections 😅
How great to see someone who knows what they're doing looking after their own animals. Well done Becky!

As kookie as she is. She is correct. However a hoof pick would have been better for packing the hole.
his toe is too long. that's why he has the crack. if you give him a balanced trim and keep him that way, the crack will grow out and it won't come back. you can tell his toe is too long by the fact that it was chipped.
Rachel Germain "It will never, ever, ever, ever go away unless you do it my way". We call that a clue right there

I did this and it worked. and I have done so many things to git rid of the thrush hole and this worked. thank you so much.
That wasn’t a thrush hole. Thrush is on the frog only. You are about as goofy as this lady.
Yes!
Or maybe just have a farrier check once in every while to be sure you are on the right track.
Not everyone has enough money hire a farrier
If it's a barefoot horse, using a farrier to do the trimming is one of things that create these cracks. Farriers leave too much surface at the bottom of the hoof wall which can cause shredding and even these cracks. Use an experienced and/or certified barefoot trimmer if you're keeping your horse barefoot, and use a radius rasp about once a week.
Sorry, chemicals not intended for my horse go nowhere near my horse.

HamstersHerpsand Horses Agreed!
HamstersHerpsand Horses she's a moron.thats why his hoof is jacked up
That is not always true. There are issues like fungal infections and abscesses that can cause that cracking. You do not have enough information on the cause to be so judgemental.
By and large - agreed. These cracks are caused by a misplaced load. But, if there is infection, there should be medication applied as well.
@@rJadyw the horse was self trimming at the toe and not on the quarters of the toe. It’s easy to see it needed a better trim and a soak in water would be good but opening up the inside of the hoof isn’t needed.
Holy cow your horses hoofs are way to long
Ella_1125 that’s why there chipped and cracked
If you have to wear goggles using those chemicals, they are going no where near my horse.
Naomi B She wears protective glasses, but not gloves. Where's the logic behind this?
they probably have already been around your horse
For all the ppl going to leave negative comments, this will not hurt the horse, horses hooves are just like our fingernails
Raul.Amber Lopez hey would you be able to answer some questions for me in relation to a spit in a hoof, so that I may properly treat it? Thank you
You may think you know everything for hoof care but do you know how many other methods from decades or hundreds of years ago? No you don't, there are things that you may think will have bad effects actually help. Your close minded
Yes, actually- I do know a little something about hoofcare and methods throughout the ages. That is something I studied very intently and continue to study all of the time as new information comes forward. :)
Yes- sorry. I do hope that you have your issue resolved by now, as I just now found this comment.. but I would be more than happy to help you. You can contact me here on RUclips or through TooFarNorthIdaho@Gmail.com
Jesus that was a long comment but I agree completely
MA'AM WITH ALL DUE RESPECT!!!!! PLEASE YOU HAVE NO EARTHLY IDEA WHAT YOU'RE DOING!!!!
Mine had quarter cracks on all 4 when I bought him. Fed his flax seed daily and rinsed daily with epsom salt and warm water.
I remember seeing this as a youngster and thinking it was pretty bad, now that I am several months into farrier school it is physically painful to watch this bs.
Same.
Unbelievable how the hooves of her horses look like. No wonder she has to deal with abscesses, cracks etc. The hooves are FAR too long...
This isn't her horse
Naomi Waldron How do you know? She's talking about HER animals, she's showing a horse on HER land.
Because I watch her channel and know that she doesn't own that horse...
Naomi Waldron So do I and I´ve seen this appaloosa several times already... And why would someone let his horse be treated by her. Especially with hooves like this...
Ok so you should know that she doesn't own that horse...
How do your horses survive
Go to his review and read the articles that make him look like an idiot on this one
pdbabe you would not be talking like this to my face you goof I don't think you know what goof means you low life peace of shit
Never dig that deep into a hoof unless you are a veterinarian, or blacksmith. Get help from a professional!
Omg!!!! What is wrong with you?!?! Get that knife out of your horse and get a real farrier before you introduce harmful bacteria and lose a hoof!
you are a moron for blindly following what Gore said you need to do your research otherwise you are a fucking idiot this is a treatment that has been used for many years ... root killer is just a product name copper sulfate has been used many years Root killer is a crystallized form. no other ingred are toxic other than the copper sulfate itself. it is easier to work with than the liquid form and the powder form articles I posted in Gore's video prove the point farriers even take sections of hoof wall out so that necrotic tissue can be removed . before treatment. this shit saved my mare who had hidden WLD from heel to heel in three of her hooves.
pdbabe yes. while he splashed it all over the hay. what a great horse owner! yikes..everything she is doing is cringeworthy. my uncle is a farrier. show'd him this and the amount of language he used at her..😂
pdbabe 98% copper Sulfate. Whats the 2%? Bad shit
How to make your horse go lame 101
Hater 101
Virginia Walker stupid101
More like how to save your horse, and your bank account!
Im a Farrier and with good trimming habits by a trained farrier you would not have that problem or would you need to use more the a good trush med
1st the stuff that is growing in the crack is not a fungus, it is a anaerobic bacteria (thrives without oxygen). and your hoof is way too long creating an imbalance, hence that is why you have a toe crack. by the way I am a professional farrier with over 20 years experience.
sorry yes she does she has more tallent then u so shut the fuck up
i mean....the crack went away didnt it......... and even if it is bacteria it has to be killed some how maybe she knows its bacteria just accidentally called it a fungus....but the cracks gone so i think she knows what shes doing....many different ways to treat a crack yours might be better in your opinion....hers in hers shes just getting th info out there and the people can decide how they want to take care of it.
first off talent is spelled wrong. and I am a professional farrier. this lady doesn't have enough talent to carry my tools the proper way to actually treat this crack is to back the toe up put the foot back into balance
also at the end of the video guess what the crack is still therethe only difference is the hoof is shorter
Every hoof is different
root KILLER does not belong in living tissue - clue.......
Omg this is so cringe worthy
Alina Reybey lol I know
You look after your animals so well👍☺ although id use tea tree oil instead of weed killer to get rid of fungus.
As soon as the camera looked up and she had them safety glasses I laughed my ass off 😂😂
Have you ever used koppertox on your horse's thrush, stuff sold in the farm stores for thrush?
You need to have a real farrier to keep your horses feet in good shape. Are you a certified farrier
Jeanette Norton obviously not
I do most of my own trimming etc - I do not need a farrier very often at
all. I use all natural remedies for my animals and rarely have any
issues. I keep them trimmed myself - keep them out of wet or "full of
waste" areas so as not to create any issues. You do not HAVE to be a
farrier to know what you are doing. Some farriers are not so good
either.
Yes she is a certified farrier. she shod all 20 of my horses this morning but for some reason thy all died by sundown idk
hi becky, great video. I have a tip we use. take a half sheet of construction paper or a kind of stiff paper.
fold in half, put your medication inside. lay flat on table, take the medicine bottle roll over paper where medication is. now it's a powered. hold paper up crease down like "V" it will pour right it the hole.
it was a stupid video that shit was getting over the horses hay and she was going to deep in the horses hoof
You just got yourself one more subscriber
Just keep the hoof trimmed and use the copper sulfate and the crack will grow out. Also keep the animals in dry pastures!!!☀️❤️☀️
Wait...root killer? I don't care if it has 'special properties' or something but it's a chemical used to kill stuff. Isn't that a warning enough to not put it on a living thing?
And I don't think carving a hole into your horse's hoof is the best idea either...
EchoeChamber yea, all it is is asking bacteria to come in. why else do horse have tough hooves, other then to move on harder ground.
she is making upurtunity for bactiria to grow f@@@@@@@@@@@@# her
wait a minut we have never seen that horse after that video oh shit did it die f@##@23 it better not be or i am calling the humain susity and the f@#@# cops
EchoeChamber but a hoof is dead?
Can we please talk about WHY your horses feet look like that in the first place?! That's horrendous. Between the "chips" (that's far beyond just some chips...) But when you leave the toe as long as you did, and do DIY farrier work you learn from a RUclips video? This is what you get. Please, don't assure people with confidence that what you're doing is okay. It's not. By horse is worth the $50 trim by a professional who understands his individual bone structure.
it does work on my horse has no cracks! thanks for the tip
Better solution to prevent fungal growth: Don't make the hoof moist (inviting bacteria), don't clog it with cotton (keeping it moist longer), and LEARN HOW TO TIE A ROPE HALTER!
Omg nooo stop trying to be a farrier, you cannot do it, just get a professional out!😡
If you don't like it don't watch just because you don't like it don't hate on someone else video's
Don't do stupid things to your animals & post it if you don't want people to point out that you are doing stupid things to your animals
Kelly Johnson you obviously aren't educated in the horse department. remember not everyone on the internet knows wth they are doing. proof in case number one: why soak and pack the hoof and then not wrap it? you essentially ruin what you just did....and that was point in case number one. need I go further?
Just pay the money for the farrier so you don't hurt your horse
Ok but some people don’t have a lot of money to hire farriers please calm down
Please stop making horse videos....
I grind the copper sulfate in a coffee grinder. It works great.
Thanks Becky!
You're horse is the most gorgeous thing I have ever seen u are so lucky u are really good with him as well keep it up
That was an awesome demo !!! Thanks Becky..!!
Sandra Hancock You must be kidding. Don't listen to what she's saying, it's absolute nonsense.
This lady is also cracked, and her goofball practices are the causes of her horses' troubles.
Brendie Brimer if she doesn't have the money for a farrior then she shouldn't own horses
1:20 when she yells at that poor cute puppy and pushes him away so mean
I dont see a puppy..?
I just started him on hoof supplements and hoof dressing.
what a beautiful horse , I have seen old traditional farriers do this method
DO NOT USE THIS METHOD. IT IS DANGEROUS TO THE HORSE AND IS NOT EFFECTIVE BECAUSE IT DOESN'T ADDRESS THE CAUSE. WHY? Read below:
First, the reason most farriers cut out the area around a crack is to stop dirt from getting trapped in the area which allows bacteria to grow.
I'm the wrong guy to start with...plus I made no attack on you...so back up lady...
that's the prettiest opolusa I've ever seen
*Appaloosa
i think it's a knabstrupper actually.. is it an appaloosa?
that poor horse...
You can use tar as well, it works even better
What a beautiful horse! It looks like someone took a paint brush and made the spots all over him. Gorgeous!
When they said "you gotta dig a little deeper" in the princess and the frog movie they didn't mean it literally.
I'd probably use the easy boot...BTW, you are great with that animal and the info was very helpful; thanks!
My pony had a crack and the farrier just put a v and I seen this video and now no crack thanks beacky!
good infor thanks for sharing
Really appreciate this very well explained video. What a lovely horse too! Thank you.
Maybe you could use the potato you recorded it with to fix it up.
Beautiful horse
That horse is sooooo beautiful and this really helped.
What's so funny about all of these comments is yes she is no ferrier but she trying... she should have taken advantage and advice from a farrier.. however u also dont learn without doing ...... and everybody is quick to bash her and her practices but they are all the ones hiring people to do the work she doing... when on a homestead u dont always have access to the people or resources....... and yes I believe that 90% of the comments are prissy people .... and the abuse thing ... not su re e where any of u r from ...but in nj .. the law is very weak when owning a horse food shelter ... proper med meaning shots ... dept of ag is very lax ... not only that but SPCA is not in this state have any jurisdiction over farms ... horse cattle or such no matter of other animals being there ...
this is hard to watch
I would never suggest anyone to use snips though, only rasping.
also to add I don't think you could homestead your way out of a wet paper sack!
Glitter Fun Not saying it does have cracks
Glitter Fun I just realized that his name was Tango
Glitter Fun He is an Appaloosa :)
Hi, interested in the fact you say its caused by a fungus infection, can you show more recent photos to show the crack has be cured.
Thanks for the video! Your horse is absolutely gorgeous.
Omg the horse was crying when she was packing it!!!!! It was so difficult to watch. Hated this.
Jesus stop it
omg! he is splashing the root killer on his hay! your horse could get poisoned are you crazy or crazy!?!
U have a beautiful horse I love his color , main , and tail thank u for this information this helped with my horses hoof ...
Not being rude. But u know nothing about horse
Hoofs u never dig into a horses hood the hood crack will heal on its own never put root killer in ur horses hoof and the horse is pulling away bc he's in pain!
Is this a joke??
She's not serious, right?
is she even a farrier?? the horse is crying -.-
copper sulfate works wonders on horses feet
omg I didn't think that would work!!!! but it actually did your so good😘🐴😂😍😜
I feel so smart after a video you have created. Thanks Again for wonderful info!!!
Oh she got it right! She can't just just dump it anywhere! Not on anything valuable, just like she said. But it's ok to stuff your horses hoof with it #logic (If anyone was wondering I'm being sarcastic, I don't agree with what she is doing at all)
Great video Becky, hope all is well with you!
That was very informative thanks! My only question is that there is crystal or powder form of copper sulfate. Would powder be better or would you stick with the crystal.>I just thought the powder would dissolve faster. You look like you've done that a time or 2!!! Thanks again for info.
This is like treating a tooth with a cavity. The dentist drills out the decay and then cleans it and packs it. It does make sense.
Truly horrific, how do you think your horses feet are in such bad state, l am surprised they can stand at all.
IT NEVER HEALS BECAUSE YOU KEEP DIGGING IT DEEPER.
KrazyTwo Kats she wasn’t digging the crack bigger, she was opening the area to make it easier to see the depth of the crack a bit more and to make it easier to pack. Pay more attention to the video.
This Appaloosa hasnt been mentioned in any of her videos anymore maybe it's because of
