So this is some weird trivia, but hearing Joel mention the HD pack earlier in the video, and around 10:30 talking about not getting headshots when he plays HL, made me think of this: It turns out the Vortigaunts don't take extra headshot damage if you use the HD pack, because Valve or Gearbox, whoever made the HD models, didn't set the head hitbox to be what the game code considers a head hitbox that takes extra damage, so it just acts like any other body part.
My first introduction to half life was actually a demo for Opposing Force, to which, I was super confused when I got Half-Life and half the weapons were missing and you were a random scientist instead of Adrian Shepard.
My introduction was the Redemption mod, which apparently came bundled with counterstrike. It was really hard to find for a long time and for a while I thought I hallucinated it all.

Fun Fact : This was a cut chapter from HL1 after Lambda Core. The original concept was about Gordon being in a facility that is under a heavy bombing, and there were fights between Scientists and Security, and HECU were pretty much making mass graves with BM staff and Aliens. Gordon had to go in and fix satellites to get communications to the outside while dealing with the situations above. It was cut because of concept changes and would not fit with the story. There was also ment to be an Female Scientist in this section during the Silo era of development, who would later betray Gordon by ambushing him with the military. She was later recycled for Mossman. Uplink was included with the Game of the Year Edition of Half-Life as a mod and was included with all subsequent releases, while absent from the Steam Release.
