LET HIM KNOW GREGA SENT YOU!!! Авто/Мото
This was extremely helpful. The fan clutch on my 16' is doing the same thing and im tackling the job this weekend. Gave me an idea of whats involved. Thanks
Dodge Offroad got it right when building their steering brace. Had mine for a year now, and am more than happy. $50 more than others, but the quality is on point, and the frame rail mounting was genius.
Very helpful video. I gotta do something with my 3rd gen this summer and didn't want to just go with the same stock 3rd gen pump , just wasn't sure exactly where to go for upgrades.
My 08 is cooling coming to a stop and idling, great video thanks
I did a sector shaft brace on my JKU and it was a day and night difference.
a little silicone gasket maker in the gap of those flare nuts will keep them from rusting again making life easier if you ever need too remove them again
I'm about to buy my first cummins 2003 2500 2wd. 275k miles. No excessive blowby, rebuilt trans. Love your videos.
Hope you had a great weekend Greg!
Really appreciate the content. So often people muddy truck/automotive videos with garbage. You keep it clean, and interesting. And actually, makes me motivated to go wrench on my own truck! Thanks and keep up the good work!
RedHead reman boxes! USA company. No over center steering movement, light feel. i did not big shaft upgrade due to brace and pitman arm already installed. very impressed!...one note...any box with very little or no overcenter you will feel more road input, tire imperfections issues. like you said. you have to "drive" it more.
Love watching your channel because of the great content. You actually do your work. Not just talk about it then go have it done somewhere
Awesome video as always Greg and I bought a long sleeve Wrench workz shirt and decal from your site
Been waiting on the continuation 🥳
I got my 2006 2500 4x4 crew cab I did a air box restrictor delete and for else the truck is stock it's one hell of a race truck also rolling on 33 inch tires
I’m surprised you didn’t also upgrade the steering pump and reservoir to the 4th gen one while you were in there! You might need it now with that new steering box! Something to look into !👍
Nice bit of info keep it coming greg 👍😎👌
The thermostat should stay closed until the engine is warm. Even if the fan is always going.
I have that same box on my 08. It was a warranty replacement from the factory. I went in complaint about a box leak. They warranty the box. It took 9 months to get the box don’t know why. It was definitely worth the wait. Just FYI though the dealer told me that they were lucky not having to change out all my steering components because the later 08 truck already came with the heavier duty change over components. This is just to let everyone know not to just go out and buy this box and thinking it will just fit your truck do your homework first. This is what the mechanic who worked on my truck explained to me. My A/C pump took a shit 6 months ago. When I bought the new compressor there was a warning slip inside that required changing of the fan clutch. In speaking to another shop that works on dodges regularly, I was informed that the fan clutch get lazy and don’t come on soon enough and causing high head pressure and blowing the relief valve on the compressor. I know this is the opposite of your problem but just thought people should know what else is happening with that clutch. The new clutch I noticed comes on as soon as you turn the AC on and pulls air like a MOFO to keep head pressure Down. Just my 2cent worth.
You always have to support the box!!
greg is really pleased with how tight it is!
Nice an deep like
Greg A doesn't like play!
Mechanical fan clutch is the answer to make it reliable. Uses a Ford V10 part, and a Cummins OEM hub adapter. Then bolt up your plastic fan blades. Done.
Great Vid Greg.
Check out the intermediate shaft bushing. Put your head on the brake pedal and look up. There's an intermediate shaft coupler that has rubber in the middle and 2 pins. The rubber can get soft over time. Geno's sells some small aluminum bushings that can be hammered in around the pins to prevent any slop created by the rubber. Bigger meats (tires) amplifies play here. I'm certain guys chase loose steering and this one, though it doesn't create 2" of play, can correct that last 1/2" of play. (btw, I'd say if you are constantly correcting and the truck annoyingly over corrects... this is the issue. That rubber causes a "delay" as you add more and more tension. When it finally has enough twisting pressure, your tires turn and this continues to "give a little more" twist, thereby over correcting).
Gates’ fleet runner belts are the green ones. Awesome and very squeak free. I get mine at rock auto.
I only use Gates belts. Everything else is absolute garbage.
Greg A you the man
Not sure if your headlamp is one but you could get one that is a rechargeable headlamp from Wal-Mart or maybe other stores like that that may have things like that
I’m workin on this same thing on my 3500 2013 and my 3500 04.5
The Canada company that makes ball joints threw a couple of those bushings in for free so cool that’s Canada!
Awesome awesome video Greg A, some nice parts for the 08, so nice that I might need to get that stuff for my 04.5 if it’ll all fit mine lol. I do need a steering box lol mines wore out like yours was lol.
What bumper do you have on it?
Good job Greg
Might want to do a thermostat in the 08 if it hasn't been changed recently
Great steering brace
I don't know on rams/dodge on your gear box but on my 06 f250 Harley Davidson 4x4 I put a redhead gear box on and new lines it made a huge difference it's super tight now but I'm asking would a redhead gear box be better on rams/dodge just asking not being a internet mechanic
Hey Greg, could you make a video on how to detail the engine bay and get the hard to reach/clean areas spotless? Thanks!
Check out Chris Fix he’s got great videos on that
do u have any information on deleat plug for fuel pressure relief valve can it be bypassed on 05 5.9
Youre a God my friend...nice work
Hey do you got the wiring diagram for the clutch fan and how you test your pins
Hey Greg, My 2008 has 120,000miles. I’m wondering your opinion if when I change the head studs should I put a new gasket or will the old one be fine? Thanks!
I have that steering setup with the redhead box it’s nice steering is much better
Hey Greg, was your steering wheel off center when you were finished with the installation, or was it off center before you replaced the steering gear and brace? Mine was center before but off center after.
Just got done today converting my electronic fan clutch to a 95 ford 7.3 mechanical clutch, no more wire! best move i done yet, that wire got ripped off twice and ruined a fan 1 radiator and my shroud.
Have you ever replaced the rubber bushing in the steering column though? It's a huge factor in steering wheel play and should be done before or at the same time if going through with the efforts of replacing the steering box. This is always something that fully needs to be worked from the top down, not bottom up.
What gauges do you have up on the pillar on this truck I’m looking for a fuel psi gauge that bolts on like that setup
I love startups to begin the videos🤤
What exhaust system do you have in that truck? If you mind me asking. Thanks in advance 👍🏽
How you liking the tires on the 6 speed??
I just bought a 2006 Mega Cab 4x4 5.9 and I definitely will be doing this
How’s your ‘06 doing?
That’s my next vehicle too
@@bullast2046 going great, absolutely love this truck. I also have a 2015 1500 but nothing like my 06. The 15 will be pre-runner build but that is way down on the lisr. The 06 I went through the suspension and upgraded to a Carli suspension and new steering box. Next step will be fuel system, turbo and cooling system.
Rocking that Amsoil! Glad to see that, boy I sure would love to be your Amsoil dealer.
Where did you get your intake at for the 2nd gen swap
Greg why haven't you gotten a fumoto oil drain valve yet? I will not own another vehicle without one.
Hey greg ive recently purchased an 06 cummins and was hoping you could help me and tell me what to look into to make it reliable as possible. It already has a built tranny and a new engine. Ive heard fuel filtration is terrible and needs to be takin care of any system you could reccomend? I also plan on a set of guages aswell. Any help would be appretiated thanks.
So, I guess his fan issue was fixed? I am having the same problem with an 03. I changed the clutch and thermostat. No change! Fan is engaged 100% while A/C is on. It does not drop off until 45mph!!!
I just opened my ultra duty redhead box however, Noone seems to know where I can get my pitman arm for my 8 inch lift with the bigger shift hole....any ideas!???
What Pitman arm do you use? I wanna do this and But have a 6 inch lift in the truck
Greg, do you think wheel spacers are safe, thank you
Does the steering box brace clear a Thuren sway bar?
The p0128 is for the thermostat.
That's what I was thinking.
The 08 looks Hot even when its dirty greg_a 08 :)
Where did you get the fan clutch? On line or in a store?
Does this help a lot…i have an o3 and it is like trying to drive an airplane…
What oil do you run in your trucks Greg?
I have the same headlamp as greg a lol. Who else has that one to? Maybe greg should offer his own head lamps by wrench works..
Greg know anyone in the central jersey area that has any 12 valve cams and tappets?
also need rocker arm assembly
Quick question. If you barely rump on the gas. Is it normal for rpms to kinda rumble down? (not smooth) or is it suppose to be like a regular car you rump on the gas and rpms go down smoothly. Trying to buy a 3rd generation and this guy says it is normal. Please help
Good time to change out your water pump and a up graded oil pump .
What kind of cowl hood do you have and where can I get one from
3rd Gen. All the way
Nice!!
Would the same parts work on my 06 2500 hemi 4x4??
Cool 😎 danny at Dor is doing badass parts 💪
how much did u cost you to get a 2nd gen swap in your 3rd gen. you don't half to tell me the exact price I just want to see what I am looking at for my 04 cummins.
The only thing I see missing is a banks monster ram air intake horn.
Does it warm up right now?
thank you
p0128 is for the themostat
I have the same amount of miles on my truck lol
What gearbox do you run on your g56 3rd gen?
What about the fan clutch issue?
Glad you “actually” got your parts from dodge off road, by far worst customer service and have had nothing but problems with there steering setup on my 3rd gen. Have two family members that have the same issues I’ve had with the steering and customer service. Glad your happy with them but that guy is a thief
Good to know, I had no idea! Looks like I may be looking at other options! Thanks!
They scammed me too. Dodge off road sucks. Go with thuren or carli
Same here. Problems with the steering system. Bad service.
Didn’t you say in one of your other videos ,you were going to give away that truck ? Or raffle it off ?
I went with a Red Head steering box on my 2nd gen and that combined with a new Borgeson power steering pump LEMME YELL YA. It's awesome.
I've been thinking of that combo for my 24v. My truck needs the gear box replaced this spring to finish off the front end components and it will be good (it's good now, but I'm thinking I can improve it more...) It makes a nice difference?
@@purepanorama8484 not sure I can tell you how much itll improve your experience, but on my 2001 the amount of play that was in my steering box and steering shaft was UNREAL, and the power steering pump wasn't working at all. I replaced the steering shaft, steering box, and the power steering pump and it was like a brand new truck. Definitely recommend
@@aallen73 were your brakes acting funky from your powersteering pump not working? Brake pedal slow drops before it feels like it engages anything and has a slow return back to the top?
@@aallen73 I've currently got the issue going on with my brakes and I'm trying to figure out if it's from the power steering pump or bad hydrobooster
@@purepanorama8484 yes sir. Same thing I had. After new power steering pump and vacuum pump reseal all was good
I need to replace the redhead box in my 08 but I have DT Profab radius arms and box brace and thurens sway bar.
Fan clutch better?
I'm sure the stock 3rd box wasn't built to the max but after 175k miles I followed directions and just tightened mine up a little bit without removing it. Right or wrong it made a hell of a difference. I only went about 1/4 turn at a time and drove it. Night and day difference. Its been 20k miles later and it still feels new.
What rims are on the 3rd gen
Hey Greg I have a 04 with the 5.9 and it doesn’t like to rev it will stay at a certain rpm for a few then slowly climb down do you know if it’s a problem or nothing to worry about
Possible injector issue they get worn and leak and will cause the rpm to buy hang
Greg does it come with a new pitman arm or do you have to order that separate? And does it take same size tie rod in pit man arm?
The bigger box does come with me new arm. Yes same size taper for drag link. It's a bolt on setup
What size rims/offset?
Love the vids Greg, wash that dirt girl.
Wow Greg you have really stepped up the background music game I’m likening it!!
The link to the heavy duty gearbox doesn’t show anything, maybe a glitch??
Do you have any Manuel 3rd gen Cummins that you would be willing to sell?
I ask a lot of questions but I haven’t heard anything back
Make sure everybody reads “DOR” reviews before wasting your time.
Gucci Gang 🤙🏽🤙🏽
Dodge off road price list is off the road too !
Greg "Lil Swaparooski" Alberalla
Fix the driver side headlight
I’m having issues with my steering on my 07.5 6.7 Cummins. I’ll do the work myself, I bought my truck last year and it had 37’s on it so they wore very bad and unevenly. I ended up putting 33’s now it’s all over the place, any suggestions?
I would say get a 4-wheel alignment they should be able to tell you if anything is bad then go from there.
Before I go get an alignment, I want to change my ball joints, I know I need a new track bar because it’s still the original and I need new sway struts and bushings. I was hopin that someone could give me the upgraded part numbers for the steering components besides the box. I don’t have the money for the box. If anyone Cana enlighten me on the upgraded part numbers do I can get a price check in my area, it would be much Appreciated. Thank you
Also check your shocks if they are bad it will wear the the tires pretty bad
Bro Greg you should of got a manual dully
Yeah but he likes tossing that money at muldoons so I guess it doesn't matter for him
