I had a job like this in the summer. Told the customer I could replace a few broken blocks with ones he had in his shed. Honestly mate I spent hours trying to get the blocks back in. I’m hey seemed slightly wider than the older ones. I swore I’d never offer to do this again. You’ve made it look a doddle though 👌
Haha I had a job shortly after this that didn’t look that back but when I started it took me 6 hours and 7 bags of sharp and I didn’t charge the customer 🤣 luckily I don’t get asked very often 🤣🤣🤣🤣
@Weirjetwashing I stuggle to gauge what to charge for it as it’s a strange old job and only a diy fix but yeh deffo won’t be making that mistake of doing it for free again 👀🤣
Great video and I think you have solved the mystery of my loose patio tiles. We’ve had an ant issue too in same area of patio, but it never occurred to me they could be the actual cause! 👍🏻
Great idea, when you are looking for a simple quick fix so it won't cost too much. Of course there may be other methods but then it can cost three times as much or likely even more!
Interesting, thanks. What do you recommend if the rising is caused by tree/shrub roots. I've heard some people cut roots out completely or shave them down with an angle grinder but some say that damages the tree/shrub.
Hey! So iv only ever done it as an add on to cleaning a driveway but I guess if I was to do it as a stand alone I’d just charge a half day rate/day rate plus materials depending on the size needed to relevel
Normally I just charge for the cost of the sand £10/£20 or something like that as I’m not a professional but it takes about 30 minutes so £30 add on wouldnt go amiss
Why would they add sealer? It has nothing to do with block paving. It’s an optional, all be it, waste of money service/treatment that you can add after the fact.
Thanks Kirkside, i am a widower and can't afford to hire contractors to do everything. I raised some pavers successfully but felt it needed some protective coating as the installer didn't do a great job and I felt the sealer would make it waterproof. I'm learning, mostly trial and error. I'm 77 years old and will tackle anything but electricity.
Bricks for walls not drives, does not work, people should know that by now, great for the trade £££££ seen housing estate where HGV will not enter, no bins emptied, and with building regulations ( now) out lawing no drainage hard standing , (at last), worse hassle than grass, maintenance nightmare,( don't help for resale,) silly fashion.
Try giving some advice on what I could have done better rather than just saying that it’s not helpful. It’s just a DIY fix, but I’d be curious to know, firstly, why it would sink in 2 years and not earlier and secondly how to improve it
This was very helpful especially taking a picture of how it goes back together. Thank you.
I did similar job myself, I used chalk to number them and took photo before removing them. It makes job much easier when putting them back.
Another great idea
Bloody good idea mate😊
taking pictures definitely helps. On areas with lots of odd cuts I found marking the shapes with chalk arrows all in the same direction really helps.
Another great tip!

@@KirbsideCleaning I don’t feel so bad now 😂😂

What is sharp sand, is it paver sand?
Great video and I think you have solved the mystery of my loose patio tiles. We’ve had an ant issue too in same area of patio, but it never occurred to me they could be the actual cause! 👍🏻
Thank you for this excellent video. I am inspired to repair my older patio. Carry On Sir!
Well done! 👍

Very true!
Terrific video. Got me fixing my sunken blocks right away - plenty to fix - gonna have to order more sharp sand :)
Don’t underestimate the sand! They can take quite a few bags some dips 🤯
Great idea taking a photo. Will use this tip on other jobs because it's always handy to fall back on if you can't remember. Cheers mate👍👍
Thanks for showing fellows, this will really help when i replace a few of my blocks.
Nice to know Lampards got a new job, I would have put some ant bait down first Frank.
Interesting, thanks. What do you recommend if the rising is caused by tree/shrub roots. I've heard some people cut roots out completely or shave them down with an angle grinder but some say that damages the tree/shrub.
Remove the tree/root would be the only way
just the video I needed thanks mate
Glad I could help!
That looks EXACTLY like our drive, so thanks for the tips.
Glad it was helpful!
Hi, How did/do you charge for the repair of sunken blocks like in this video as a price example? Cheers
Hey! So iv only ever done it as an add on to cleaning a driveway but I guess if I was to do it as a stand alone I’d just charge a half day rate/day rate plus materials depending on the size needed to relevel
@@KirbsideCleaning ahh I see, so how much was this as an add on?
I would likely only be doing it based around a drive clean too

4:08 r.i.p triangular block.
Good job thanks
Thank you 🤩
Nice one. Thanks’
Woulda been great if you ran the video at regular speed and show how the pavers were pulled out.
Just use a screwdriver to inch it out
What exactly are the bases you use ?
No idea what you mean it’s a DIY fix 👍
No base, no tamping each layer?
Don’t know what that means
What is “sharp sand”?
That’s just what it’s called not sure what it is
@@KirbsideCleaning special sand that gives way, after water gets in,
I've watched several repair videos because I have a problem. None of them added sealer after the repair.

@charlesteincarter5537 well done you. I don’t blame you re the electricity I prefer to steer clear too!
That how I do my own acing since I can’t afford to get someone to do it I’ve taken out so many pavers i can do what I please lol
Sometimes a DIY fix is the best 👍👍
Oh, excellent content, very cool!!!!
Thanks Lisa, thought I’d throw this in there after a recent job (which was also filmed!)
Is that Frank Lampard narrating

They do work when installed correctly. Don’t crack like concrete or perish like tarmac.
2 years from now, it will sink again…..

Wayne just remember to level them off every year and they will never sink after two years! Alternatively enjoy your tarmac?
@@KirbsideCleaningI think you did a great job mate
Thank you 🙏
I did mine like this, and they sunk again about 4 months😢.
