In this game when you beat a group of 4-5 bandits or skeletons you feel like a HERO. Not at all like Diablo hitting whirlwind and smashing mobs in 3 seconds. I love this game so far...very challenging like a Dark Souls type of Diablo.
I played a bit and it really needs some work. I was shocked to see that it didn't have mouse cursor support. I don't mind playing with controller, but it's a pretty big turn off from the get go, since I tend to play these games with M&K. Other than that I'm looking forward to play it here and there while waiting for it to come out of early access.
I am interested to see where this goes, the maps remind of pillars at times. The combo of ARPG and CRPG elements seems pretty good also. Definitely keep an eye on this one, thanks for the info Mortismal.
@@nyctimus6015 I see, thanks for the information. Was thinking of covering it my channel sometime, I just covered Fallout 1 and was looking for other crpg’s to cover.
Damn, I feel like your channel is made for me. Everytime I wanna check a game I'm interested in you have a video for it and are one of the only ones to. Black Geyser, Sands of Salzaar, this, keep it up man.
I bought it yesterday and I'm really enjoying the game (reminds me of broken ranks with action combat and a single-player campaign). I'm looking forward for your 100% video on this!
I've been super stoked on this game for a couple years!! Unfortunately my laptop can't run it so I can't partake in EA. Still following it closely and am very excited for it's full release
I am interested in this game for a long time now, I have been following it on Steam for years. Hoping it shapes to be good, some innovation to the CRPG genre is the way to keep it alive.
I've been playing for some time now and already done some dungeons. Done so without controller and is quite challenging but not impossible. Loving the change of pace from games like Path of Exile.
Another great video and thank you so much for sharing it with Us,I have been looking forward to more info on it.And I can't wait to play this one,so thank you again
That sandbox world with all the faction houses reminds me of Mount & Blade. Which is a good thing, but is there any CRPG aspect of this? I didn't see any conversations in the footage so am guessing it's primarily ARPG focused, which if so, is kinda weird that there's no dedicated K&M control scheme. I'll keep an eye on it, but won't jump in on early access (besides Shadowrun trilogy just dropped on Gamepass, already played, but 1 hour turned in 4 last night, so here I go again).
Just picked this game up as it looks really good to me after watching Ye Old Entertainments RUclips video as one of his favorites of this year, but Mort's video is from a couple of years ago, hopefully you will have another look now that is been released.
Hey Mortismal, have you played Seven: The Days Long Gone? It seems like something that would be right up this channel's alley. I'd love to see your take on the game.
Reminds me a lot of Revenant and Moonstone (other knights in directly competition with the player). I noticed unfortunately a lot screen shake and hit stop in the trailers. Isn't it a bit much ingame?
Thanks for video. I noticed from various other commentary the controller vs mouse issue. Anyone else think its a bit weird for a PC game the concentration for use of it on game controller rather than standard kbm ?
Mortym, thanks for the confident review, positive but fair disposition, and open mind about the future for this game. I will pick this up on your recommendation and support the developer. The developer says mouse is supported and you said WASD is supported. Perhaps mouse is supported plus kb, but it is being refined. Can you press "I" on your keyboard to bring up inventory? Many reviewers are saying that the mouse is not supported, even in the menus and clearly that is hurting unit sales! I am not sure the criticism is fair, but the devs could be more verbose here. I wonder if there will be any companions or will the game be solo only? I saw the game has 16 initial achievements. I wonder if those are good so far or poor? Great achievements design is going to be crucial. I look forward to how the game will be with a lot more voice acting added.. I saw the dev posted a reply to another comment further below, so the developer is engaging with us here, which is rare, it is actually a great sign! Welcome Gamera Interactive and your team of 12! I look forward to trying out the game and supporting Early Access.
@@GameraInteractive Thank you for confirming! I appreciate the response very much. I look forward to experiencing the game as the development unfolds and eventually 100%. I will look for future update posts under What's New in my Steam Library. Best of luck and good fortune to the team.
Hey Mort, I love your channel, man! Keep up the good work :) Could you talk about Colony Ship? It's a classic CRPG that's about half complete in EA, and I'm very excited about!
Hi Mort, I was interested right up till the point that you mentioned it was controler, I dont possess one and dont intend to, may give it a look if they incorporate mouse
The game honestly looks so bad in it's current state. Don't get all the comments about this game looking amazing. The art style is cool, but the game is not anywhere near amazing lol jeesh
@@bagg.s6775 Eeehm, well, i kinda agree with you. I got used to it after about 2 hours of pain, it plays well, I dont feel any handicap cosidering its a skill based game. But lets be fair - is it mouse support when 100% of UI doesnt support mouse cursor? Nah, sorry.
My concern looking at the combat is that the attack animations seem canned. So it's a matter of watching the enemies to determine the length of time between their attacks, spamming canned attacks for that interval, then dodging back away from them. Since they mentioned magic, are there AoE options for the player? When those Goblins popped out of the smoke together that was a tempting target for a fireball or similar attack.
@@SemperSalam not cheesing when the game is made that way. Eventually you'll probably hit enemies that take a minute or two to kill then it becomes Dark Souls like. It's built on reaction time instead of Diablo's style where you keep your health up.
I remember when this popped up on my facebook with their marketing and I automatically disregarded it as a result, later I took a look again and it seemed interesting. Seems like it has a very mount and blade + sands of salazar style to it. I think it'll either be a very good game or a very mediocre one.
The game has its good and bad stuff, but once you grasp the whole concept, you get used to it quickly and you die very few times. Something that improved my experience was to keep an eye at what the different town blacksmiths offer. Do not miss the chance to use the ingots and materials to craft stronger weapons and armor .Sometimes you find they sell a rare or epic armor which greatly improves your survival.
You can use AWSD for moving and the mouse buttons for attacking, shift for blocking/parry but you can't use the mouse for moving. Currently the keys cannot be changed but the devs confirmed they're working for proper mouse and keyboard support.
The controls feel so awkward. You can't even use the mouse in menu, setting, character creation, etc. I was pretty hyped for it, but the controls disappointed me. And the story, at least from the cinematic, seems pretty unimaginative. War among gods, bad god wins, you have to stop him.
I've been waiting for this game. No mouse cursor whatsoever is very weird. Models are a little bit too tiny. But I like everything else. If it wasn't an Early Access I would have probably got it on PS4
20$ for a pc game in such early access that you need to use a controller to play it is pretty steep imo. If it was 10$ I might consider it, but now I will probably wait until release and probably never end up getting it.
Thanks for the video Mortym. I was looking forward to this game but now that I see a dark souls-y kind of gameplay where a controller is highly recommended... eeeh, it's kind of a cold shower ! Maybe if they modify the controls along the line but right now, it's a no.
Loved everything about this game except the map-movement gameplay loop...ugh, hated that and refunded it. But for those that like that, I imagine it'll be a hit
Generally no, if I don't say it's sponsored in the video then it isn't. I'm legally required to state it in the video if it is sponsored, and I could lose my channel for not doing so. Sponsored content will always be labeled as such.
I really don't like the trend of making all combat "souls like." Turn-based JRPGs are basically gone (aside from the Dragon Quest franchise), turn based WRPGs had a mini resurgence (mostly thanks to DOS2), but aren't really popular...At least not on the level of AAA or mobile games. Even Diablo-likes are getting more "souls-y"... I'm cool with a "dodge" power assigned to a hotkey, but I hate having to worry about dodging and blocking all the time. This is why I gear my character up with ever-better loot, FFS. So I don't have to be NInja Gaiden on the NES good.
Ye the funny thing is i asked them in trailer video if there is a full mouse + keyboard support, they said yes. There is NO mouse at all. Now the game is skill based and when you suffer through 2 hours of learning the keyboard controls, it plays like a charm, really, i had no problem. But I seriously considered refund after starting the game menu, which is probably a record of mine.
Controller requirement means "consoles-oriented", or rather controller-oriented UI, which is always shit and takes forever to do very basic things outside of combat. Wanna equip an item? Here, look at 6 items at once at max and scroll for a minute till you see what you need, oh shit, you misclicked, where did that item go? Screw that noise. So I'll give this game a pass regardless of whether they'll bring in M&K control - they are surely never going to change the UI to be comfortable.
In this game when you beat a group of 4-5 bandits or skeletons you feel like a HERO. Not at all like Diablo hitting whirlwind and smashing mobs in 3 seconds. I love this game so far...very challenging like a Dark Souls type of Diablo.

it certainly looks like it has CRPG elements but unfortunately its a far cry from, other than having a similar art style to pillars of eternity
