I have a question, I'm traveling to Crete tomorrow and want to bring my DJI Air 3 and make some nice shots, is it true that you have to plan every flight up front and get permission from the civil aviation service or is it posible to just spontaneous fly your drone on Crete? Thanks in advance

Hi, from 2024 something has been changed, you have to do request only for some areas that are under specific conditions. This message is from Greece Hellenic Aviation that replied to me: Good morning, Regarding the “Balos” application, we inform you that, a flight authorization is not required as the intended area of operation or part of it, is not overlapping a DRONE AWARE GR zone (yellow circles and/or rectangles on the Drone Aware GR Map). On behalf of the HCAA “General Aviation, Drones & Urban Air Mobility” Section, there is no objection for this activity provided that limitations posed by EU 2019/947, UAS.OPEN.040 “UAS Operations in subcategory A3” will be respected at all times.
