I'm a 43yo hip hop artist from Australia and I'm only now falling in love with NOFX in 2022 and becoming OBSSESSED with them! All because of, first Ceschi sharing his work with Fat Mike and Sam as the Codefendants and then watching Fat Mikes phat mic and falling in love with Fat Mike! Their music is AMAZING!!!!!!!!! Please come to Australia for a 2023 farewell tour!!!!
As a 30 year veteran fan. I welcome you. Better late than never. The late 90's early 2000s shows were great. I'm doing both brisbane shows of the farewell tour. You'll never get another chance like this.
45 year old fan of everything. But these kaants were first. Good to see another MUSICALLY diverse person join the fold. If ya haven't already. Bomb The Decline.
Welp too bad. They’re done this year sucker. (Said in the most punk-rock-spirit ever!) Amazing band huh man? Absolutely love them and the tunes never get old. They have balls.
I found this video in strange way. It all started at a Goodwill thrift store with my dad. I was browsing thru the CD's for old PC games. A CD with Japanese characters on the side of the case popped out to me. So I pulled it out and read the tittle on the front of the CD case and immediately laughed out loud. The tittle of the CD was Wankin' in the pit and had a trippy cartoon image of some dude on a skate board. I took a picture and left. I did some research on this mix CD. It was half Japanese half English speaking punk/rock/pop bands. And the last song on the cd was by this band. So I did some youtubing and I found this. Now I'm writing this super long comment that probably won't ever get read.
Reports surfaced Monday that Mike entered rehab to get sober -- but sources close to him say that's only half true. What really went down is Mike voluntarily checked into an L.A. facility to ween himself off a 2x daily Percocet habit after experiencing prolonged stomach pain -- docs treated, then released him 6 days later. We're told the punk legend says he has no intention to tone down the punkness. He's not sobering up ... it's just a "mini break" for the sake of his health ... then back to the drugs and booze.
Listening to NOFX brings me right back to ‘95. Back in the good ole days where a lot of good music, music with a message, was made. I wish I had the ability to go back to those days for awhile.
Its still there, you dont have to go back to 95, you just need to go to some shows. Get re-aquainted. You will find nothing has changed, the scene will always be there, but its not mainstream, like how some punk rock music was in 95. Now its more underground, which is a good thing, it preserves the ethos and filters out the posers.
Back in the 80s and 90s, the idea of Punk Rockers old enough to collect retirement would have made me laugh, but thats just becuse the scene was young, no one had time to get old yet. I dont know of any more potent cultural movement, where instead of hitting 40, selling out, and being like "I used to be a punk", like all the dirt foot hippies turned suburban yuppies. Now you have punks practically on oxygen tanks and walkers that are still 100% invested in the subculture. (Imagine what a geriatric nursing home circle pit would look like!! It would be fucking epic. People might get hurt tho with a the walkers and canes and wheelchairs and shit. Could see broken hips if they dont pull them up quick enough...)
This song and video both excite me in a multitude of strange ways. Funny or Die and NOFX is the mashup I always needed but just never knew. Now I know.
just popping by as NOFX played their last live show a few weeks ago. reminding everyone that this song is brillllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllliant.
I am a new NOFXhead at 57 and have to say this. These punks rock.. These are the best fucking funny and clever lyrics of all time, hands down. ..PeaceOrElse
Let's face it - Fat Mike's a genius, they'll all great guys & make me feel less alone. Thru all this I'm less likely to inadvertently support big (& little) Pharma under the guise of 'getting better.'
Sorry if you have a problem. I broke my ankle 2 weeks ago (as a elder fell in front of me). Chicago in December is hard bro. Without pain pills, It would have been intolerable. Don't preach now. Realize your issues and let the rest be. Lastly, I have not smoked pop in 25 years. Now I might...You're past tense as you have not put out anything worth listing to in 10 years. Still best.
This is a collaboration i never thought i'd see, but holy shit im glad it happened. Amazing work on all parts! But now i gotta take a prozac before i start over analyzing how accurate this song is and the fact that we're all being turned into zombies
Best part is now i am over thirty and not looking so pretty.. Think I first heard that song when no was still in my teens im over forty now.. Always been my favorite band.
Wow, these guys have exactly the same sound they did in the old days. I heard this and I could have sworn I just missed the song somehow back in high school. I was about to comment on how surprisingly topical this is for its age. But that would be Idiots are Taking Over, obviously.
I'm a opiate addict in recovery and all my friends always gave me shit about it while they were smoking weed all day, snortin coke every weekend, always drunk and taking pills. Mean while they never realized what fucking Hippocrates they are. Now they still don't understand why I don't fit in their world. Plus I fucking hate listening to them talk about golf all fucking day.
For a second I thought I was watching SOA again! The first character we see is a prospect in Sons Of Anarchy ^^ I'm a fan of both the show and NOFX so, all good.
Been on Oxy for 4 years after an accident which lead to a spinal injury, I’ve weened myself off many times and I can tell you as a man who’s enjoyed sociable drugs for 30 years Oxy is a destroyer of your body
I personally don't like the sound of this song... I'd much rather listen to their older stuff. but no the will never sell out. Independent label, no radio play, as stated by other replys.
Ok so... I'm a doctor and I have a few things to say. Firstly, I believe in the message of this song. We're all being druged up and worse off for it. This is why I just believe in taking care of myself and just don't even go to the doctor myself unless I have a real problem. Call me a hypocrit if you want to. Secondly, please don't lump in the doctor with the one truly causing the problem. It's the pharma, it's the hospital corporations, it's all the third parties that are the ones truly practicing medicine and telling the doctors what they can and can't do. If I had any idea when I went to college, medical school, and residency for 12 freaking years, that when I got out I would have people with a business degree telling me what I can and can't do, what I should and shouldn't prescribed, I would have just given them a big eff-you and grown out my mohawk and just been a punk rocker. And you know what, pretty tempted to do that now. I'm just too freaking in debt now... guess The Man gets the last laugh after all! :/
im doctor too, from russia. now i think that the system is the same everywhere in the world. Because of this I have 44 reprimands (after 3 reprimands are usually dismissed)from job
I know I'm bringing this comment back from the dead, but if the patient doesn't need Oxycodone, Adderall, Prozac, whatever... then why prescribe it? Seems pretty easy to me? Maybe I don't know something? Enlighten me.
it's worth mentioning that laboratory equipment and much experience is needed to be able to transform opium into heroin. Although one comes from another, they are both distinct in their effect on the body.

He and Jimmy Pop from Bloodhound Gang should make a collab.
Both are lyrical legends.

Punkyagogo very well written. Probably my favorite on the new record due to the clever lyrics.
