My memory of Gregory was back in the 1980's when "Austin on Tap" invited him to come to Austin, TX for a masters class to our group. He was the Star of our show at the Paramont Theater with no charge because he loved to support the Art of Tap dancing to all young people. We only paid for his air fair and the transportation of his FLOOR. He was such a kind and generous person. I Was a member of the Board of Directors at that time and still have a picture of him and myself at the reception we gave for him that same evening.
He is missed. I love how he shared his talents to the world. This instruction he gave to this class shows who he was. Gracious. Above all grounded in the idea of his craft.😊
I loved watching Gregory Hines whether he was dancing or acting. Watching this video I couldn't help but think to myself that it was like watching Mikhail Baryshnikov teach ballet at Howard University to all black dancers.
GONE TO SOON MR HINES..AMAZING TALENT ,THAT THE "ELDERS" PASSED ON TO U..BUT NOW THAT U R DANCING IN HEAVEN...SAVION GLOVER HAS THAT TOURCH U HELD ,AND U KNEW THAT THE YOUNG MAN U TOOK UNDER YOUR WING WOULD DO AS U DID,HEART&SOUL..RIP MR HINES YOUR LEGEND WILL LIVE ON LIKE THOSE THAT U LOOKED UP TO❤
It was a single master class of about two hours. he was coaching students. Why would he break this magic to show old film footage that I am sure the students had seen many times
@@mediageneration Well, the Nicholas Brothers are up there, too! Hines praised all of his mentors from the Golden Age of Hollywood! Today's dancers ignore Tap and don't appreciate the contribution these Icons made to dance! Hines does!
His dancing is so fluid, and appears effortless. I love watching him dance. Gone too soon.
Dear Lord, You have had him long enough. Please send him back. Please.
