Absolutely it’s a better car than any Tesla. I just leased an EQS SUV, it is a much better can than the Model X. And less expensive - there are significant EQS discounts available now.
Customers of used EVs are leery of how the battery has been treated/damaged. Dealers and wholesale don’t know the condition of the battery, so it’s been difficult to assign value.
@@12point131 Dealers know exactly the condition of the battery. It is not a big deal. And most car manufatures give a 8 year warranty on the battery. In my point of view there are 2 main issues: 1. The dealerships. They are not well trained on ev's and tell the potential customers a lot of BS, they also make more on ICE vehicles 2. resale value / technological progress. people are affraid their new/used ev is outdated in a year or two and will be worthless
According to MBUSA website it seems the 2024 model comes with 330 miles of range and a slightly larger battery of 118kwh over the 2023 model, and a heat pump!
This EQS almost certain;y has better real world range then a Model X. These things are monstrously efficient and have a huge battery. 330 mile rated range on an MB means 360 miles+ real world.
Ahhh, you're actually reviewing (or spec quoting) a 2023. For 2024, they increased the batter yto 118 or so kwh, added a heat pump, and on AWD models added a mechanical front motor disconnect and the range is up 45 miles.
My friend is a Mercedes service advisor. Says all their EV’s have lots of service bulletins to deal with and fix. MBZ has rushed out these EQ models to market with lots of glitches - just like Tesla!
I like boxy cars, but I think this looks fine. If it did what I wanted it to do, and I could afford it, meaning it wasn’t a stretch at all to buy it, then I’d go for it. It’s not an investment, it’s a luxury car. I think it’s better looking than the Tesla and BMW competition. Then again, maybe I’d just buy a Rivian R1S.
Tesla's are budget cars, why compare it to a Tesla- no proximity sensors, no radar, no 360 camera, no hands free driving, and just overall cheap interior feel. This seems more comparable to a Rivian R1S or a BMW iX.
The Tesla Vision in the new Teslas is arguably better than conventional proximity sensors, and eliminates the need for radar or a 360 camera. As for "hands free driving", having to rest a hand on the steering wheel every 30 seconds or so so the car knows you're paying attention seems pretty minor in return for a system that can drive you door to door everywhere, not just on highways that have been premapped out for the auto driving system like the Mercedes. Also, the newest Tesla software release is apparently going to allow the driver to select driver monitoring via the interior camera rather than by pressing on the steering wheel, so then it will be truly hands free.
IX is smaller than this, but yes the model X is in a lower category. Near luxury or premium, nicer inside than a Y but not German luxury territory, nor is it trying to be.
@@donwilber1628 That's the thing, Teslas are build like a budget car with economy interior and economy tech options but they still cost as much as a premium EVs. I keep wondering who tf buys Teslas at this point, they are so outdated and ugly
IF I were forced to drive and EV product over an ICE product, the new charger then a Mercedes would come to my mind for options. Exterior design then luxury at this point. EV's suck the fun out of everything. So they better be 1 of 2 things to me, good looking or quality built. Because prices suck everywhere.
I like the way these look actually. Not flashy but soft and understated. It really seems youtube reviewers have all decided it should be called ugly. Looks are subjective folks.
I honestly don't get the hate that people have for the way this car looks. EVs are all blobs. They have to be for aerodynamics. This one looks pretty nice. Reminds me of a Buick Enclave...but nicer. The interior is gorgeous. The Mercedes S-class opulence is there. The depreciation is awful, but if you're keeping it, who cares? The Mercedes also looks like it has proper 2nd row leg room, too, compared to the Model X, which really does not...at least not for tall people like myself (6'2). Let's be honest, here. Tesla really pushed EVs into the mainstream, so we can all be thankful for that, but they're not luxurious in any way. With a Tesla, you're paying for raw speed, screen tech, and the best charging network out there. The cars themselves are pretty cheap, with continued poor build quality and attention to detail. The price tag does not equal luxury. Apples to apples...price for price...I'd rather have the EQS SUV.
It's tough to justify the extra money for the Mercedes compared to a Tesla Model X. A base Model X at $73k, $66.5k if you qualify for the tax credit, is faster then the EQS, has more interior room and a lot more luggage space. As for going offroad, or on dirt roads, I doubt that the Mercedes is any better than the Tesla. The Tesla has 8.1" of ground clearance with the suspension at max height; if the EQS has any more, it's minimal. The only real advantage that the Mercedes has is an interior that many people find to be more luxurious but that is a matter of personal preference.
It is not really tough at all, it is only tough for cheapskates who think acceleration has any value whatsoever or even more perceived value than a solid build, very capable and comfortable premium car. Those buyers are a tiny minority.
But i have one question about the seats, because when I'm right about it, you also have an fingerprint for your profile. Are the seat settings not connected to a profile just the 3 preview settings?
With a range of around 285 miles and a 0-60 time of 4.5 seconds, it's $30,000 more than a Tesla Model X Plaid, which offers a 325-mile range and a 0-60 time of just 2.4 seconds. Plus, I don't find the Tesla interior tacky. The falcon wing doors, largest front windshield, and front-opening doors are much nicer touches. Oh, and the Tesla has three rows and a modern screen UI, unlike the dated-looking alternatives that still plague these auto manufactures. Tesla completely outclasses these cars. Gimmiky looking dash with over complicated engineered stuff. If you think tesla panel gaps are bad wait until this car has problems with all its little obnoxious parts
@@Aztasu yea let’s see what the resell value of this shitty car is one year from now compared to model x one year from now. Tesla had massive price cuts from last year , cars didn’t depreciate Tesla made them depreciate

Seen 2023 version used with super low miles selling for low $70K but with MSRP at $136K. WTF happened to value ?

Even just the 2023 go further, MB definitely went the "underpromise and overdeliver" route with how their ranges are reported through the EPA.
I understand that it doesn't have the visual panache that one who can afford something so expensive would expect, but I don't think it's ugly.

Before watching - at the minimum, I believe the rear seats can fit actual humans, so in at least one respect it's better.

Is the EQS the 580, the top trim, as opposed to the EQS450?

BLABLAM!!!
I stop watching any video when I see that passenger screen...unless it was one panning them I guess
I like their non Hyperscreen setup better, but I don't think one can get an EQS without one now. :/
