I made these rolls to go with a Christmas dinner at my mom's house right after this video came out last year. My father in law was living with us at the time and he kept commenting on how good they were. My wife ended up giving him all the leftovers; about 10 rolls total. The next morning I came down to see if he wanted to go get some breakfast with us and he was eating the last roll with apple butter.
We lost him to kidney failure on February 4th this year, but he managed to remind me how much he appreciated and enjoyed these rolls while in the ICU. I don't think you can ask for higher praise. God Bless you, Kent. You have brought families together around good meals and we appreciate you.

Mr. Rollins, I have to say the best meals I have ever made (besides my buche de Noel, French Canadian Yule log Christmas cake) was always on top of an open fire.
I once made some beer can chickens in my massive Dutch over on the fire while camping, well I took off the lid and it went WOOF, made me jump back and squak and dance like a chicken until I grabbed the lid and put it back on. It felt like an hour went by but it was literally second. Needless to say, when the chicken was fully cooked and I served it to my extended in laws family of 22, they were absolutely amazed, the skin was crispy and so flavourful, the meat including breast were juicy and extremely flavourful as I had not only rubbed lemon/garlic butter under the skin but injected it with herbs and spices!
God bless you and yours, to all the viewers/commentators, Merry Christmas and happy holidays

Took me a few tries to make types of bread, but once you get it, it's pretty simple. What made it click for me is I used a kitchen scale and measured my ingredients in grams. Made things way easier for me. I never thought of using a thermometer though. Generally use one for meats. Think I'll give it a try for my bread to see if I can improve my process.

some of you probably think it's just product placement, and it definitely is, but knowing the temp is so helpful. Yeast rises best at a specific temperature and bread is fully cooked at a specific temperature - having a thermometer probably doesn't feel super cowboy but when you can nail it because you know you did it right, you'll feel like one

Well Mr Rollins I just recently found you here on the you tube and have to say after watching your video's on seasoning cast iron you showed me I was doing it half right. I always cleaned it with kosher salt and never soap from witch I learned from my dad. So after the salt cleaning every time I would dry it and oil it well every time I went to use it it was sticky and the food was hard to keep from sticking. So after watching all the video's on how to clean and start from new I seasoned it 3 time like you recommend. The first thing I cooked in it was beacon and I cleaned it right off the stove with hot water and I still had to use some salt then i heated the pan and use grapeseed oil again. Today I made these rolls in it in the oven and they turned out great for the first try. and I did grease it with butter for cooking them. 20 minutes at 400 with the pan starting at room temp and they where perfect. I took the rolls out immediately and they where not stuck and the bottoms where light golden brown as where the tops. I then put it on the stove on medium heat threw a half stick of butter in and a pound of Tennessee Pride sausage and made gravy. when I added the flour to cook it down it stuck to the pan but when I added the milk it all came up and the rest of it slid around like glass. I only had to clean it with the hot water and my soft bristle brush. Reseasoned with grape seed oil and it looks great and now. I'm happy and it's easier to cook out of all ready all thanks to you. Much Love and respect to what you have done and are doing. Prayers to you the wife your family and the pups.

When my mother used to make homemade bread when i was a youngun, she'd start the yeast in the morning. If she wasn't ready or the yeast wasn't, she'd just add another dash of sugar and flour, and let it sit.
Now, sometimes we got VERY airy bread, sometimes we got fairly dense bread. But we always got bread! And it was always tasty.
Technically, bread from the store is better. But it sure doesn't taste like it. That homemade bread was very inconsistent. But it was always welcome, and the variance was just a surprise.
That and the house always smelled nice. Baking bread and brewing coffee are some of my favorite smells. And i don't even drink coffee. ^-^
