The way you described a proper onion ring tells all. You know your craft. Hands down, this is still the best cooking show on the planet. America is where food comes together. Where everything should come together with spirit and grace. Working with your hands and feeding the hart's with love. This show reminds me of what America stands for. Thank you for that breath of fresh air. Now let's get cooking!!!

Those look amazing! Just one thing I want to point out is that I know you love your four legged friends as much as I love mine so I wanted to make sure you know that onions are toxic to dogs. So is garlic and grapes. It is always a good idea to look it up before sharing table food with them. We have made the mistake before but luckily we caught it and no harm came of it.

That is, I WOULD recommend them, except that they are as addictive as pure crack cocaine. So good, they are addictive. The only reason I'm not dead now is because they're at least an hour and a half away from me.

Best onion rings have ever eaten and I'm 75 years old. I loved end so much I used the flour mixture along with the left over milk and sour cream dipping to make a really great gravy. Make the rue using about 3 tablespoons of the flour, add chopped onions optional, some mushrooms and then add the milk and sour cream with honey and thicken it. No waste of any of the fixings.

For those who can't stand using $8.00 worth of cooking oil for a few cooking batches you can spray your onion rings with your favorite high temperature cooking oil from a spray bottle before tossing them into a preheated 400 degree air fryer. They cook just as fast as in the traditional deep fryer. Flip once after 3 or 4 minutes and continue air frying another 3 or 4 minutes. No stacking or overstuffing the air fryer drawer.

My mom would make homemade beer battered onion rings..she'd get the batter all over her hands and she'd just flick little bits of that off into the oil, or wipe her hands off into the oil to get basically just fried bits of batter. For me that was just fine because for a LONG LONG time I didn't like onion rings with the onions...I would quite literally skin them, I'd break them open and pull out the onion and just eat the batter that was around the onion. It's only in recent years I've gotten a taste for the onion ring in whole..most of the reason I did the skinning of them is because onions and my family...have a bad history when it comes to what they do to our stomachs. As my mom was fond of saying about any dish with onions in it "I'm gonna regret this later but it's gonna taste so good right now"...I've taken that to heart and while I do enjoy onion rings, it's not something I eat if I have plans for the next day that carry me away from home.

Just tried your recipe today and these onion rings are *delicious!* They came out perfect, and I’m no seasoned chef😅
I even prepped extras (did the double dip and then panko) and then flash froze them in the freezer to deep fry (or air fry) later.😊
Thank you for this simple but exquisite recipe!

I love how you refer to Justin E Wilson frequently; probably the King of Southern cooking. One of the first recipes I learned from him was Deviled Eggs. I still make them exactly the same way! I'm going to make onion rings this way the next time. Keep up the good work Kent!!

Made these for the first time last night. Used an air fryer and sprayed top and bottom with olive oil. Came out great! Super crispy with good body. I may have added a bit too much black pepper but was still awesome and my boys loved the peppery taste as I did. Air fryer worked better than expected. Best onion rings we ever had.

Mr Rollins, I truly love your RUclips channel. I love the look of your land and environment as much. I'm a "city boy" from Philadelphia, Pa. However, I've always loved beautiful rural landscapes. I, like you, enjoy cooking very much. I just may have to move to Oklahoma.

    First time I ever had a onion ring I was 21 (2017) 😅 😂
I worked at Sonic and just happened to try one and dang I was missing out all these years! (Kinda like how I hadn't had sour cream and onion Pringles until last year but that's another story)
Can't wait to give these a try 😁

Aj and I made them tonight it didn’t go exactly like the recipe I improvised here and there. Honestly probably the best onion rings I’ve ever had and it was the first time I ever made them so I was glad it turned out well. I even told my mom about them and am going to cook for her and some family this next weekend. Thank you for sharing your recipe.
