Omg, yeah , this drama is so relevant until these days. The corruption is still rampant; it is just good there are also people that are standing on their ground to eradicate this problem. Oth, I always love Zhang Rou Yun and this drama UTM is another outstanding product from ZRYand the whole cast. I love the storyline, the subtle love story, the acting of the whole cast. This drama is relevant to modern times in so many aspect. Also it shows the fact that even if one starts their career as an honest person, how society forces them other ways, or how a nobody can bring great changes if they wanted to. All the actors were great. I particularly like the friend's role. He is a playboy, confused yet knowledgeable person and courageous friend. The scene between him and the lawyer where he tears the confession letter was important for both of them. There are many such small impactful scenes all through the drama. I loved it.

I absolutely loved this show. Binged it in one day. Very well written, Cleverly shot, Beautifully edited, and wonderfully acted. I found it both compelling and amusing. It it one of the few dramas I wish were longer. I wonder if there will be a second season. And my God, but that Tea Collecting song from the scene in Episode 12 was stunning.
Kudos to this drama. Perfect acting and deliverance. The plot was indeed Solid like the acting. I totally enjoyed it even If this isn't even my sort of genre lol.

Ill watch any drama by Rou yun as it is usually great acting, interesting plot and production standard. Only problem i cant find English Subtitle so I missed some great dialogue and line delivery but nevertheless i enjoyed this drama very much

Loved this drama. Unique stories finally focusing on small local officials and peasants. Screenshots of many senes look like old Chinese painting. Officials from different small county each had their own unique characteristics. Story develops gradually in a logical way that make sense and interesting. After 狂飙, I randomly started this drama with no expectation, but enjoyed it from the beginning to the end.

I see a cat, I'm all in! Starting this today. Love Heals' plot is getting more and more ridiculous that it's impossible to imagine it in real life. Had to stop watching it. Happy to go back watching a costume drama! Finally a good review.
Nope it will not, the case closes by the end of the drama so even if there's a likelihood of a season 2, it will be featuring the other 5 stories that were from the same novel and will not have any continuity from this drama. Not sure if they will still get Zhang Ruoyun to act again but quite unlikely the case when it will be an entirely new plot.
Since you've announced it for the first time, I've been awaiting for it and then made a mistake to watch first 2 episodes which left me without motives to continue unless... to watch it - exactly as you suggested - in one shot. Because this type of story can only be told in a form of a "long movie". Whilst speaking about (minimal) historical accuracy.... more then nets, 90% of Chinese "historical" productions still have to learn that potato and corn were imported in late 17th and 18th century, fac that pricks the eye of an avarage "Western" viewer who may not be informed about the type of hat in Ming dynasty but at least knows the origins of main crops. Excellent review, btw.
@@user-ni8nx7sy2k You are right, corn was introduced earlier (than potato and tomato) both in Europe and Asia (in particular, Chinese NE) but was grown mainly as a crop for animals, not for a large human consumption; centuries were needed for hybridisation/adaptation of the maize to different soils. Therefore it's impossible even for the corn to be sold as a "street-food" during the Ming or early Qing dinasty we have seen in many period dramas. I don't mind when it occurs in "novoland" dramas, but it strongly disturbs me when I see it in adaptations of The Three Kingdoms Romance which usually tend to be high quality productions, with great actors and attention for historical accuracy.

I just binge watched this and absolutely loved the male lead’s acting. A lot of court scenes but still very entertaining. The lawyer was a bit too old to be completely believable after watching him in other dramas as an older character but as a very good actor, mostly pulled it off. The older actors were fantastic, especially at performing the behind the words meanings.

Yes it really is very close to the novel. If one has not read the novel, I don't think they would pick up some of the super subtle hints of the bl.🤣 But then again, the novel has a very intricate plot that the bl part,imo, was almost just an icing on the cake.

Considering their uploading schedule, there is also plenty of time to rewatch to understand what was missed on first watch.. The real issue are the mtl subs..but they're updating them now, so hopefully that will not be a problem later ~
I enjoyed this drama, which features more action and suspense than I expected for a story about tax evasion and corruption. I also appreciated the touching relationships between the animals and characters, such as the glib attorney rescuing the cat even though he's allergic to it, and the story about Cloud, the lovely horse his late wife had given him. I am not surprised little attention was paid to the female costumes, since the characters were a butcher and a very poor farmer. I do wish we could have heard more of the beautiful song the latter sang.
I watched this drama until episode eight & stop because it make no sense to me, I gave it 6/10. It reminds me of the dark lord , same genre but much much better than this.
I tried watching it but by episode 4 my brain burnt lol😂 the quality is amazing no doubt about it but the story just not appealing me instead it's a bit tiring.. I thought the main story would be about investigation (which i love) but it's not really.. but yeah shout out to iqiyi for producing many good quality (even if the storyline are questionable sometimes) ancient themed drama which i noticed it's been so since last year
Its a kind of drama where the main incident is a known secret but no one (especially the officials) dares to dive into the matter to solve. And local people were unaware of it. Only when ShuaiJiamo started to question, it started the domino effect.
Unfortunately dropped this drama. The plot is OK, but the ML's acting style does not work on me. I dropped/scrolled through all his dramas before, so was not surprised at all. His playboy friend here was very funny though).
