This drama is a rediscovery of Dylan Wang. He was always good looking but my god was he born for this role. I’m so impressed with how much acting he’s getting done in just his eyes and face. His jaw clenching, eyes narrowing, little smirks.. it’s a huge range of expressions he’s been delivering throughout this drama so far. I’m rooting for him to do well in the heart wrenching scenes coming up! And I admit I have hopes for him and I’m less worried than before lol. Tbh, nobody expected him to do much except be pretty in this drama.. but he’s given us a breakout role and has us in a chokehold now. Good for him!
The scene when DFQC suddendly appears behind Orchid to save her from Heaven realm emperor is the just the bomb, visual slap. And then that epic battle that followed it : magical.
what i love about this is that there is literally also no pointless love triangle that they throw around. at one point, you'd think that danyin would be your stereotypical mean girl who'd do anything to ruin orchid and changheng's love story but after having her life saved by the girl she thinks is her enemy, then she comes into a conclusion that she shouldn't hate the very person that saved her. i need more of those characters in dramas. let them act like normal people!
What makes me fall in love with this drama is that FINALLY we got anti-hero as the male lead. I mean...just hear his story, he killed his own father, raging war in the three realms and unstoppable, feared and despised by the celestial realm. That they literally needed to cheat just to get this guy and his subordinates under their control. And yet, they could not destroy this guy's soul at all. Even after 30,000 years has passed, people are still passing terrifying stories about him. The sight of his assistant/personal ride, a dragon, made his people fell on their knees and worshipped him in fear and awe. I was just stunned. His character setup makes me want to know more. Did he really kill his own father? Was he abused thus he retaliated by killing his abuser? Why did he look so angry all the time? Did he really love power that much or he simply wanted power to protect his own moon tribe? I just want to know more. I'm just so fed up with the male lead depicted in xianxia as the "oh-so-powerful-and-famous-and-respectable" male lead. I want something new and this drama delivers it.
@@adaada4523 I've watched that episodes already, and although it's quite heartbreaking, I still confuse, why did his father seem to have his own personal vendetta against the celestial realm? I mean, celestial realm is supposedly representing the "good", so even if they want something out of moon tribe, they would need to do it in a round-about way as not to smear their face and reputation. And yes, we got some answers about why DFQC father treated him that way, and then where do we go from here? In my personal opinion, this is the hardest part of having anti hero as the male lead, that is to have a designated villain, the final boss that our anti hero needs to destroy. Cause if we have bigger-meaner villain than our anti-hero, it just makes his character become a misunderstood-hero, and not truly anti-hero. It's just the fine line to thread. 🤔
@@phoenixxena8194 Because the fairy realm attacked them and put them in the edge. The father has no choice but to train DFQC coz he was fated to control the hellfire. But yeah, the reason of why the fairy realm attacked them seems to be unanswered yet. My guess is that it is related to unification esp. that Yannv is no longer there to protect the moon tribe.
@@phoenixxena8194 Don't want to be political, but you can compare that to "US good, China bad" LOL. In that Universe, the "Celestials" are more powerful and dictating what is good and what is bad and have decided that the "moon tribe" are the bad guys because they have different "practices". Quite similar to Noble aspirations.
People were complaining about the costumes being too extra and try hard but I LIVE for the head pieces!!!! So Campy and different from what I’ve seen from ANY drama I’ve watched! 10/10
I’ve never been a big Wang He Di fan, but his visuals in this drama are out of this world. The production team shot his face from all the right angles. And yes, his acting with his face is so much better! The costume and makeup were done so well that highlighted all his features. Esther Yu is absolutely stunning, she is just as beautiful as any other actress.
True. He looks so majestic here. I love his looks, wardrobe, and hairstyle. Everything. Compared to his looks in Miss the Dragon, here in LBFaD he looks so handsome. Also his acting really got better. A very big thumbs up to Di Di. I'm sure he works so hard for this role.
@@mylxiong08 i don't know about you, but I love her and her character. She's so cute and funny, she's so optimistic and full of happy vibes. She's a sunshine, no wonder Wang Hedi and other artist is so comfortable around her and love her. It's her charm. I respect your opinions about her, cause I know not all people love or like a person like esther.
Dylan Wang looks hot AF in this drama and the voice dub was done so well, it elevated his character and made it so believable. The story pacing was great too, at the end of every episode it always made me want to click the next one right away! It really shows that a story does not have to be complicated in order to do well, a simple story can also be great with all the right ingredients!
Wang Hedi did a good job, but i feel like ppl dont give enough props for Yu Shuxin. She did a really good job acting very serious in those bodyswapped scenes. And she does her own voice-ing for the drama too.
Yes..when their soul got switched, their acting is believable to me. That inside the petite little orchid is DFQC's soul, and inside the big man DFQC is little orchid's soul. Their facial expressions, the tilt of their head, their gaze, the tip of their lips and how it moves when they're speaking, it feels like totally switch 100%. It amazes me. I wonder how they do that. Perhaps both has the videos of each other's acting while smiling, walking, talking etc, just so they could mimic each other better.
I’m glad that someone else see how well this drama is put together. The CGI, the plot, the characters, and the production is way better then Immortal Samsara. Dylan Wang’s acting has improved a lot to his last drama and Esther is just so cute.
The biggest problem with IS is inconsistency, the story sometimes picks, sometimes drags...this one is much more consistent and I must say, with a much better production and money involved.
“I just wanna see how much more Wang He Di can do” yes my thoughts exactly!!! He improved so much since miss the dragon and he’s very studious, always asking the seniors on how he can improve 🤗
He's really shown in this drama that he can play a sexy man, as opposed to a pretty boy. This role was a great opportunity for him, which he clearly did not take for granted and really worked at. I was not sold on him at all before (except ep 30 of Meteor Garden), but this drama has me really keen to see what he will do next.
Can I just say I love to see AvenueX excited about a drama? She looks like she’s bouncing, and her eyes are dancing! Makes me so happy to see that a drama makes her so excited. Not to mention a Xian Xia!
So happy for Wang He Di, finally he got a role which suites him and gives him a good range to play with, and he used this opportunity. Keep learning and improving! The second male leads acting was meh till he got himself to the mortals realm, best ignorant playboy I have seen in ages, so much fun. As also for other points, I totally agree. Best xianxia for years.
OMG finally!!! I have the same opinion on 2nd male lead. He fitted that mortal playboy so bad!!! I hope he got to play such character in the future. His war god role was truly mehhh :/
I must confess Xu Haiqiao is one of my favorite actors. Only he can deliver this quality of softness, sharpness, madness, able to behave like a sweet spoiled cat at one moment and completely change to crazy devil mood in a second. Love him and enjoy every second of his onscreen time. I always thought Dylan is more a contemporary drama kind of guy, but he did his job beautifully here, and he has an amazing onscreen chemistry with Esther right from their first scene. Great couple).
My criteria for dramas is through the roof, but when I tell you that Love between fairy and Devil got me watching cp videos of Esther You and Dylan Wang. Although the trope is old, the amount of times I giggled or gasped at how hot Dylan Wang looked triumphs all!! I don't know what it is about Esther Yu, but every male lead she's with makes me want to ship them together and this drama has made me hope they were a couple with how much chemistry they have together!!
2 highlights of the drama so far were for me 1. when DF is huge and Orchid is on the palm of his hand (the music when he appears is so rock!) and 2. when DF saves her and appears like a black moth behind her and basically almost destroys Heaven with his Hell Fire.
Before watching the video I'm just gonna say idc about what ppl say I absolutely LOVE and ADORE little Orchid 🤧 She's the cutest and most lovely empath and I can't stand it when ppl regard her kindness and sympathetic nature as stupid and dumb. Also love Esther's voice actually it's soothing and beautiful to my ears. Overall WOMEN>>>>>>
Yu shuxin acting has been so great in this drama. I really love how she dubs her own characters which is rare for many Chinese actors. It really puts an authentic feel to her characters. I’ve been only watching this drama for yu shuxin and I’m not disappointed at all. Love her !!!
Do Chinese actors not normally voice their own characters? this is the first Xian Xia drama I ever saw and loved it so much but dont know much about it 😅😊
@@munchiekins Usually not since most c-actors voices don’t match the vibes of there xian xia dramas. You shuxin since studies acting in university she has always dubbed her own characters with her voice as she likes too. But ya a lot of times it’s another voice actor dubbing the character whose voice matches the characters feel.
It is not difficult to tell how much effort was put into a drama especially when you have two Xian xia dramas airing side by side. The acting/CG/music/editing/directing/story line all actually makes sense, flows, and stirs up the "necessary" emotions in the audience. The editing is done much better and less sloppy as the scenes are not choppy vs. IS. I have dropped previous Esther and Dylan's dramas but I think this drama really suits them and it works! The CP is there! LOVE how they let Esther dub her own voice. Her voice is so unique it should not be overdubbed especially for her role as an innocent fairy. Dylan was able to FINALLY show micro expression naturally which I believe is credited to Esther as it is probably very funny on set working with her. Their CP is quite natural which shows their growth in acting and I can tell Dylan really enjoys working with Esther lol! Leave it to Esther Yu and Dylan Wang to rescue to the Xian xia world for 2022~!! I abandoned Samsara so quickly. Glad this one popped up. Cheers and hopefully this is good all the way to the end! Love how its only 30+ episodes!
100% agree! This drama is amazing, the creators deserve a deep bow! The writers are real heroes, there is no bad series, each one ends with an intrigue that makes you look forward to the next one! Dylan and Esther were born for this role, congratulations to the casting team! I'm already on episode 25-26 and the series just keeps getting better! I'm even starting to fear what the ending will be like, everything is so well that it will probably be explosive!
I love Esther Yu so this drama experience has been amazing so far. She is limited in the roles she has choosen and her acting range so far but she is so unique in the sense that no other actress can replace her when she's in her comfort zone. Dylan wang continue to surprise me with his acting week after week and it's just been a joy to watch. second lead actor is refreshing and he's very cute and contrasting in the behind the scene clips. All in all a visually stunning, sweet drama that's well acted.
^^ I wish for him to play more villain characters. He seems to have a thing here. He is soooo dashing in this character. He makes the white clan look pale in all aspects. I just long to see the black robe and Lord, the cgi ! You laugh, you cry, it changes from what we had the last months. Someone out there has heard our cries. I didn't know I needed this until i came across it. I can't with the frustration of having to wait each week for other episodes so I'm waiting for all of them, trying to feed on shorts only.
Dylan, Esther and the beautiful visuals (and the freaking intro from the art to the song...never skipped it and will never plan to do so anytime soon), are what made me interested in this drama. But the chemistry between the leads (the acting during the swap and some of the cute/romantic/emotional scenes like the one on the boat in episode 8 and some sad scenes in the ep 17-18) and the epicness of some of the events in the story (talking about episode 9 being one of the best episodes I've seen in a Chinese drama ever...I was literally jumping on my chair from the excitement because I love when protagonists show up and slap everybody in the face how OP they are) are what made me stay and enjoy, with occasionally some little tears in my eyes. I love the concept of every place and I loved the design of the main lead's clothing in ep2, plus the blue dress that the female lead wears in the Moon tribe. The plot makes sense and it is so satisfying because it's literally a mix of almost every trope I love in fantasy stuff. Myths, mystical and magical atmosphere, the line between evil and good is really thin (in the sense that killing, conquering, or saving and being a hero, aren't seen as something one dimentionally bad or good from some of the characters, depending on situation and necessity), there are war themes mentioned and the immortals actually feel really detached from the living style of the mortals in pretty much everything (Jieli as an exception because she fits perfectly with humans). The main lead is op and a pretty scary (but really sexy) one too in the complex... also, I love the fact that he isn't a complete a** and that despite his reputation and mentality, his dynamic with the female lead is really lovely and he also respects her a lot. I've never seen a main lead in a drama listening to the female lead so much and unconsciously applying every of her advices. The girl is not your dumb character. Yeah, she's a bit naive at the beginning, but never took crap from anybody, especially if it touches the people she loves, or something she holds dear, has a lot of layers, a good development and is empathetic, compassionate and smart), she has been really helpful and the mvp in a lot of occasions. One refreshing thing I noticed, is that so far, there's no miscommunication between the leads. Just when it seems there's about to be some kind of misunderstanding, something happens or they decide to talk it out. I really appreciated this change. The comedy is perfectly balanced, it doesn't feel too silly and extra, but just adds to the flavor and the actors did a great job at that. The supporting characters are really likeable too. I recommend it and I hope it's gonna grow in popularity because it is really keeping me hooked.
You nail everything. I literally dropped every xianxia for the past 3 years n this one just got me hooked on it daily. Love the point u say cang lang jue gives us a flicker of hope for this genre in c dramalanf
Somehow I knew that AvenueX would adore this drama even thought the genre is not her favorite. Although she is correct that they haven’t re invented the wheel on the look/design it definitely has a strong sense of its own personality. I love the costumes and makeup . Dylan is gorgeous and Esther is adorable. 😍 also I support the second lead BL ship 😂🤣😂🤣🤣🛳
Dylan Wang is definitely the star of this drama for me. I was never interested in him before, but his portrayal of Dongfang Qingcang pulled me into the story. He was powerful, reasonably cold but not crazy evil, and very fitting of someone who is the strongest in the three realms. Plus visuals, styling, and voice are bonuses haha. Everything about his character is beautifully put together.
I'm up to ep 18 and enjoying it a lot. You can practically see the $$$$$ flying across the screen as it's clear effort has been made to deliver a quality production.
Totally agree about the story being really old fashioned and cliche but I actually like that It's the old classic 2d animated Disney movie way of cliche rather than the recycled xianxia cliche. It kind of brings back some nostalgia to me and I LOVE the feeling so much. It's not THAT deep but it does have it's emotional moments and some actually interesting plot points but it's not taking itself too seriously at the same time. Also in love with how the director is constantly posting essays on weibo defending the actors and the characters they play lmao, man really loved this project dearly and it shows 😭
The CGI in this drama is so impressive from the painting scene at the lake to the guy turning into a dragon and flying them to the windy place. That dragon scene gave me goosebumps. Production team nailed this drama so so well. I had to drop every other costume fantasy drama I am watching. I am so happy for Dylan wang
I have watched many many dramas... This one has by far exceeded my expectations! The visuals, storyline and acting were perfectly synchronized in my opinion. When they switched bodies his facial expressions and actions were believable. The expression on his eyes said a lot. He had quite the emotional range going on...in the beginning he wasn't supposed to have emotions but you could still see a glimmer of interest in her. After I rewatched it I could tell the difference between his desire to break the bond and his desire to keep it. Since he doesn't have emotions, deep down I think he wanted a connection someone. I'm sure he had a soft spot for her because she did save him. I also thought it was curious that he did not immediately tell her who he was. He liked the natural way she treated him and knew she would be afraid if she knew the truth. It was as if he wanted to keep his fantasy life with her going. Her character was overly cute and harmless looking. Which I felt was a great contrast to his character. Had she been physically strong.. I wouldn't have worried she was in peril every time she was abducted or hurt. She had to be frail and innocent to get the viewer to be afraid for her safety. His fighting scenes were epic. The flash of blue eyes and flames. Powerful yet carefully controlled around her physically as he's fighting. Visually amazing. I also enjoyed the scenes where she saved him even though it meant her sacrificing her only ticket home. The body swap kiss in the woods followed by him grabbing her neck to go in for a second kiss in front of her crush. Omggg!! I felt for the love triangle. You could see that they both loved her. However only one was able to put everything on the line for her. Also to care for her at the very end so she can come back. You could tell which man truly loved her. When I watched it the first time I thought he only protected her because he was also protecting himself. But if that was truly his wish he would never have let her go anywhere by herself specifically the trials. I think he would have locked her up immediately until he figured out a way to break the curse. I also appreciate how she did not give up her first love and former home right away. That was another conflict that was interesting to see play out. We got to see his tyrant side come out. when he locked her up and asked that the sword be remade. I wasn't sure if I was going to like him after that LOL. When she tricked him with a body swapping kiss I was laughing so hard. I didn't think she had it in her. The show just got better and better. The likelihood of a sequel is probably slim to none. I would enjoy it so much. There would have to be some kind of situation where they go back in time and have to redo things? There's likely no hope but a girl can dream!
You just got me into deep thought as to why he allowed her to go for the trial, at one point even his dragon was giving him the look of, why are we still here when we can abduct her to our place. I agree that he liked the feeling of finally having to care and serve her compared to people serving him all the time and also having her talk to him anyhow without fear. When he took her to his home, he even told her to not fear him but continue to treat him as she used to in her home. Another interesting scene I loved so much was when she tried to get out of the bed as she was about to trick him with the kiss, he reached out his hand to help her get out of the bed to his own surprise and shock cause he’s never done that, then he quickly retrieved back and this was after he told her there will never be any love between them. Subtle scenes like that melts my heart
@@mrsmugeezbalotelli yes there are so many great scenes in this drama. I have to say it's my number one favorite. The more I watch it the more things I pick up that I didn't notice before. I really hope that they come up with a sequel. Yes I remember the scene where the dragon is looking at him like why are we here? I remember when he told the dragon how he felt "uncomfortable" when she was happy about her crush. Wondering why he also was not feeling happy. He didn't realize that his discomfort was his own jealousy and had nothing to do with their curse. But I thought it was interesting how he was frantically trying to read the scrolls to figure out why he couldn't feel her happiness. After watching it several times I realized that he was likely desperate to keep her linked to him. Theoretically he should have been happy that it appeared as if the curse was being lifted since it seems like that was what he wanted? But there was no rush and he spent a lot of time trying to make her happy. Even when she insulted him 😂 I really love his her treated her vs everyone else. He was pretty ruthless to her friend! Such a good drama I really can't think of any part I would change. ❤️❤️
@@LilPinkPoodle7 omg yes to everything you wrote, I’m gonna have to watch again, now that you brought up the part he felt the discomfort and not realizing it was jealousy. Another watch was on my mind but now it’s a must😆
I'm so happy about this drama! I knew nothing about it going into it and was completely done with the genre. But this is such a great example of a trope-heavy drama that hits all the right spots because of the chemistry/acting and the narrative they fit the tropes into. It really does feel like a fever dream of all my favorite tropes out of my teen fanfiction days lolol. Yes to your point about the western fantasy influences! There are so many points in the Moon Kingdom sets that remind me of LOTR in wonderful ways.
Been waiting for your review of this drama since last weekend when i binge watched 18episodes. Also im kinda tired with the xianxia genre especially since immortal samsara was a complete letdown, i didnt have high hopes for this one. But was completely blown away but it. Glad i didnt totally skip this. Yes to all the positive points u enumerated. The story is still trope-y but done right. Like it isnt trying to be so deep and complicated. Its very coherent and very well thought of, making you fall in love with it. Its very enjoyable, steady paced. The screenwriter did well. The director did well. The actors did well. And CGI teams did well. Everyone did well. So props to it for being the highest rated iqiyi drama of 2022. WELL DESERVED!!!
I just can't with immortal samsara. I love Yang Zi, but d*mn, I just don't understand what makes him fall in love with her and what makes her fall in love with him, other than because the script says so. I also have had enough with the typical "oh-he-is-the-most-powerful-and-famous-and-respectable" hero as male lead. I want something more and finally we have anti-hero as our male lead. I love it, how he, with just a tilt of his head, thinks of any weaker beings as pests... LOL, no words needed, how cool is that? And everyone's default reaction IS to fear him, except for our little orchid of course, who thinks of him as just a "sinful immortal". Everyone is divided into 2 camps, his followers who are in fear and awe of him, AND his enemies who are in fear and despise him. And personally I think, that is awesome.
@@phoenixxena8194 i love yangzi and i love cheng yi in L&R and i thot my love for those two would be enough for me to sit through the drama but nope. It was soo boring.. all the aesthetic was the same with every other xianxia drama.. 😔
The only bad thing about this drama is I have to WAIT 2 more weeks for the last 12 episodes to be released. AHHHH I wish iqiyi would just release all the episodes out now. I'm too excited to wait I want to see the angst and the happy couple together. Plus now for episodes 25-26 (which are going to amazing based on the previews trust me), we have to wait till saturday for it. :( Since now the drama will release episodes Saturday, sunday, Monday all the way until august 29th for the last 2 episodes. Man can someone sneak into iqiyi's headquarters and secretly release all the episodes now. LOL at this point I'm desperate. (IQIYI CHANGED THE DRAMA SCHEDULE TO ONE DAY EARLIER FOR RELEASE! SO NOW IT'S SATURDAY!) Ok but seriously this drama is SO GOOD LIKE HOT DAMN. Besides some of the major points you made which I 1000% agree on, I also think the ost, music, and bgms for this drama are on a different level. First, the opening sang by FAYE is just so good. It's an unskippable op. And then the osts from liu yuning, zhou shen, and even esther herself are heavenly! They fit the drama so well! And of course the song from the sea kiss scene in episode 8 is just out of this world (sang by the Jing twins called the other side). It finally was released today too. Just whoever chose the songs and bgm to place behind the scenes add such an emotional impact to it. Whether it be a comedic scene or an angsty emotional scene, the bgm gives me goosebumps. Even the trailers themselves on youtube are so well made and coherent. Plus, I just think the chemistry between esther yu shuxin and dylan wang hedi is phenomenal. Their acting fits their roles perfectly and it suits both of them so well. Together they make the cutest and loveliest pair. I mean even off camera from the BTS videos they look so cute. And for the plot it's my personal favorite type. Especially for episodes 30-36 based on the MVs and trailers, gosh I am ready for one heck of a ride. For me this drama is no doubt one of the best. I even think dylan's dubbed voice fits super well with him. Like it doesn't seem weird and if I didn't know his real voice I probably would have thought he could make a very deep voice lol. But overall I'm in love with this drama. I wish I was a worker at iqiyi so I could see the next episodes now lol.
I literally binged all the current episodes in one day. It's just so entertaining and visually pleasing and have so many badass moments. It hits all the right spots!
I am soo over the moon with this drama. The last time I was this emotionally attached with a drama was Ashes of Love. It is really a roller coaster ride with this drama. The story, the CGI , the ost, the acting, the over the top scene, the HEART 😭😭😭
Esther Yu reminds me of Zhao Lusi where they both have limitations yet there are genres they play really well. I'm happy for them because they've worked hard and are constantly improving themselves with each project they do.
Zhao Lusi is a victim of cast typing. I feel like she could play serious roles very well, but she’s sooo good at the innocent young girl casting that it’s what directors continuously want her to do. Her role in Love Like the Galaxy does change up her character a little though so I’m excited to see what she does next.
@@dlilwon I'm the same with Esther Yu. I start her dramas but usually end up dropping them. I first saw the trailer for this drama and it piqued my interest but I'm so-so on both Esther Yu and Dylan Wang. Right now, this is on my plan-to-watch list since I'm currently watching Love Like the Galaxy and Immortal Samsara. Zhao Lusi's earlier dramas are so-so. I didn't really become a fan until Romance of Tiger and Rose, but only because she had such good chemistry with Ryan Ding. However, I really liked her in The Long Ballad since it was more serious and a breakaway from her usual historical rom-coms.
@@caylahtaikoi I loved her most in The Long Ballad since her character was more complex and it allowed her to stretch her acting chops more. Love Like the Galaxy is good, but it still has her portray a more child-like side that I think she's outgrown.
I've been waiting for this review! I love both YSX and WHD on this show so much. I am so surprised but how much actually lol. I also really like the supporting cast members. This story basically has so many tropes but is oddly refreshing because of the script and acting. I started watching WHD on variety shows and BTS...and PFFFTTTTTTTT his voice and accent really do nothing for that handsome face and height hahaha. What I love most about the show tho are Moon Tribes outfits and the set design. It's such a beautiful drama to watch. I always wonder what the Moon Supreme Lord is going to wear in this new episode lol. I also appreciate the humor of the show that contributes to the moving of the plot and characterizations.
Sometimes, even it is an old recipes but if u blend it well, put a bit of twist on cooking it, it will turn out to be a very delicious dish... and this drama is a proven...
If I would compare this drama with the face of an actress it would be Ada Choi, where each part of her face, singularly, is not my thing but put together we get an interestingly pretty and appealing person.
I think this is my fave review of yours. 🥺 Give credit when credit is due. I completely agree with your IS review points and never really expected anything from this drama... Glad it delivers more than what is expected and glad iqiyi was willing to put on money to this.
Didn't know Zhang Ling He was gonna be Hua Cheng in Eternal Faith!! Now I'm even more excited for that one even though it's already my most looked forward to cdrama. I hope it definitely airs and doesn't take too long
I also enjoy this drama very much. Esther totally nailed the character since.... she doesn't have to act, her real character matches little orchid🤣 Dylan, compare with Miss The Dragon, looks breathtakingly handsome and his acting is very good and entertaining. I can't even able to hate Rong Hao as the villain 😭. The only character I hate is Lord Yun Zhong I agree that Chang Heng and Rong Hao deserve to be a partner... (I need more bromance scenes)
this drama is the best and perfect!! the casttings, chemistry, osts,CGI and lighting...everything is so so enjoyable and it is truly the best xian xia drama of 2022 .I hope that this drama will be awarded so many awards cuz this drama deserves it
This was a huge step up from Miss the Wagon ( I mean Dragon😏😎). Not only did I cringe from that drama and didn't dare finish it but I also thought historical dramas may not be Wang Hedi's strong suit. I can agree that this drama is quite cliches but the production quality was amazing and it almost felt like I was watching a movie rather than a drama at times. Normally, I get annoyed with Female leads who are overly animated, too bubbly, and gullible. But Esther actually matched this role. I didn't even cringe and actually found her naturally adorable. And Wang Hedi's was the actual surprise for me. From Miss the wagon- I mean Dragon, he went from looking like a cheap harem boy to a billion dollar badass. His expressions were so natural in here and he played the girls part so well that it was so believable and comical. It's been a long time since I had been invested in a Xianxia drama.
I'm glad you liked it. I agree with every single thing you said. This might be the highest gold-mine rating I've seen you give. I'm not a fan of Dylan Wang. I couldn't finish Meteor Garden because of him. I couldn't get past three episodes of Miss the Dragon because of him. But I decided to give this one a try and immediately got addicted to it. I love his character in this. Within the first few episodes I was squealing with delight at how badass his character was. I thought this was refreshing for the male lead. Usually, even when they are powerful, they aren't like this dude.
I get to agree with you 100% Dylan was good before I thought but he is truly nailing this role so well. Esther is forever now a fairy for me and watching the BTS she loved doing this show
i've been waiting for this drama for so long because I looove Esther Yu and every dramas she has been on. And so far, this drama is so good, I am not disappointed.
I honestly went into watching this drama with no expectations since I wasn’t the biggest fan of their previous dramas, but wow this drama really impressed me! I’d highly recommend this drama! I know it’s a typical story, but it’s quite enjoyable!
I've been waiting for this review! Funnily enough I've also seen exactly 18 episodes so far and I'm absolutely loving this. I agree that the visual aspects are insanely good in this drama but the characters themselves are also very appealing to me. It's always very surprising to me when I don't need to skip any boring parts in xian xia dramas XD. There simply hasn't been anything boring so far. I have only seen Meteor Garden from Wang He Di so my expectations were pretty neutral but this drama has made me fall in love with him. The body swap scenes and feeling the FL's emotions were so well acted and satisfying to watch. ps. I'm gonna be so happy if you decide to make an edit XD
I love this drama so much! I laugh and cry and laugh even louder and I am also incredibly impressed with Wang Hedi in this drama! And just like you I love Yu Shu Xin as well. It made me and my boyfriend get an Iqiyi membership even, because this drama really has to be watched in a good quality so that we can drool over all the special effects. Boyfriend constantly want to replay all the comical scenes. Really happy to see you love this as much as we do. Now that you've talked about a torturous scene I worry though. I'll try to forget about it and continue enjoying it. I also want Rong Hao and Chen Heng to be their own couple! I didn't love Wang Hedi before at all, but this... I cannot get enough.
Though I'm not actually into xianxia genre surprisingly I love this one. like the new set up of the heavenly releam and CGI. The plot itself isn't something magnificent still quite fresh, entertaining and light to watch. About fantasy drama the thing I hated most is those paranoid righteous sects who always push and keep blaming the demon sect while they are the evils there, it's impressive to see the male lead from demon sect and their story. Never mention Esther yu, she is one of my favourite actress and these kind of bubbly character always suits her🥰
Yes... I am not into xianxia...because xianxia sometimes throws the logic out of the window. And with xianxia, it often full of cheats for the sake of the plots, i.e getting the male lead and female lead together.
Ahhh, I was hoping you will do a review on this drama. This was a sleeper hit for me! Given your thoughts on the xianxia genre, I wanted to know your thoughts. This has been a great show. Can’t believe I’m on the edge of my seat waiting for the next episodes.
I was waiting for you to comment about his emotional scene in Ep 18 with his childhood ball and Orchid. WOOF. I was on the floor in a puddle. Delicious. Gorgeous.
Love love Dylan. He is so masculine, charismatic, handsome and the way he talks with that demoness tone is just perfect. The cuteness of the fairy makes this couple even more intense. This dynamic couple is so compelling to watch because she is so sweet, naive, weak and innocence. Opposite attracts, ying and yang which makes this couple so wholesome, and complimenting each other so well. I am here and glued to the episodes because of their chemistry. THIS is what I call romance- they are in each and every episode together which develops their blossoming relationship. Don't you wish to be his fairy while watching this?!? =D
I think the screenwriter did a very good job. In the novel, I feel very bad for the fl but in the drama she's still quite pitiful but the ml is so likeable and shows more sweet side🌺.
This drama was supposed to be my filler drama while waiting for new uploads of Love like 5he Galaxy and immortal Samsara among others Lol! But I literally could not stop watching. Currently I’ve watched 19 episodes and still going strong. Some episodes were so hilariously embarrassing I had to look away from the screen, or tilt my iPad cos I couldn’t bear to watch🤣🤣🤣. It’s an absolutely brilliant drama so far and I’m loving it.
This is one of my favorite dramas of this year! I found it on Netflix recently and just now finished the whole show. From the CGI, to the costumes, makeup, actors, everything was so beautifully put together with a thrilling plot. Bravo! I love seeing Esther and Dylan act together, they made me fall in love with their characters!! I think we really got to see their true skill in this drama, i hope they are being plenty praised
AvenueX likes a Xianxia? Today the moon will be blue lol but it really is a very entertaining drama, Dylan acting in episode 18 got me so emotional and I didn’t see it coming...
6 eps left and Im happy with the writing and how it's going. Im quite excited on how they will resolve the problems and tie all ends. I think at this point Ill also stan the scriptwriters and the director because of the little details they put unnoticed at first 😂😂. They put twists in cliche scenarios I see in xianxia and I dont know how to put it but I feel respected as a viewer. It just feels great and I really hope they will deliver. And lastly, I have no problem with the chemistry between Esther and Dylan because goodness it works so well with how DFQC and XLH's romance is written. I just feel like it is too short and the worldbuilding is lacking.
I'm not really a fan of Wang Hedi and Esther Yu before but after watching Cang Lan Jue ,I'm now a whole air-conditioner. Last time I remember the most fantastic Xianxia drama i've watch was Ashes of Love ...Cang Lan Jue now can be said one of the best xianxia drama in 2022. The CGI, the acting, cast , ost and everything are just *Chef's kiss !
I already commented on the first video of this drama when it aired on YT that this is the only Xianxia drama which is gonna save the nose of Chinese Dramaland in 2022. I am glad that I am still firm on my words because it has really conserved the reputation which formerly was ruined by Mirror of Twin Cities, Blue Whisper and Immortal Samsara.
for once they make me believe that the male lead is evil and should be scared of, especially that part were he looks giant compared to the female lead in his palm gave me the chill, also dylan wang was the perfect casting choice for me he's handsome but somehow scary
I am 100% agree with you about this drama. Ppl are making fuss about the high pitch tone voice of FL voice, but her character as an little orchid, she is doing fine. And Dylan’s acting skill totally improved from Miss The Dragon. Linhe is super handsome and doing well acting as an opposite character from Dylan. I’m looking forward watching the rest of drama!
I’m up to 24 episodes. At first, I was drawn to the CGI and soundtracks. The opening credit and song got my attention immediately. The plot is pretty standard-issue, more like Young Adult fantasy (think of Sarah J. Maas minus the sex). However, the drama is pretty charming with coherent (albeit small-scale) world-building and slowly grows on me. The CGI can easily bring you to its magical world. And the relationship between the ML and the FL actually has an arc! Zhang Linghe looks pretty beautiful in this drama, although he is still not a good Huacheng-he looks nice with light coloured clothing, but Huacheng wears red. Heaven official’s blessing is probably never going to see the light of day anyway. It’s not even mentioned in his bio.
Agree about the CGI. The team managed to make things work. You really feel they put effort in it. Think about the epic scene when DFQC saves Orchid from the heaven realm emperor. The way he appeared behind her is just fire. I replayed that scene several times. Other Xianxias take note !
@@ubu8 The policy is changing every day, so you just really don’t know what’s gonna happen next. I believe there is still hope for bl drama to air in the future
I don't watch much drama but gave in to this one after people kept raving about it. Needless to say, I'm in love with this drama. Would love recommendations on movies that are similar to this.
I am so happy to see your review on this drama, you described everything so well on why I liked it too! The story is so coherent, the CGI and aesthetics and the eye candy actors and actress, this is such a treat to see and I am glad we all get to see this! :DDDD
Having seen your video I've decided to have hope in this xianxia drama and it's exceeded beyond my expectations in just 5 ep (I'm halfway through now). Dylan Wang's range of emotions and expressions had me completely speechless. I couldn't believe how his raw portrayal of his character made me feel (have to emphasize ep 18 because oh my god). I've not seen Meteor Garden, but the difference in complexity of F4 vs the Moon Lord is clearly immense. He's very, very good. The chemistry is exploding between him and Esther Yu. The drama checklists pretty much everything there is to look for in a drama and it doesn't fall short of anything. OST, plot, emotions, character, setting, set designs, and the clothes have you swooned. Moreover, no pointless fillers and every part of the dialogue and expression has a purpose to build the plot! Love Between gives me hope for xianxia dramas, thank you AvenueX.
I always listen to your opinions about what makes a good cdrama and not. I'm ecstatic you feel this same way with this drama as I am because it's definitely the best cdrama of the year for me, too! The acting when they SWITCH is chef's kiss, perfect casting!
First drama this year that I cannot wait each day. Excellent summary, I love the costumes (not the plastic bits so much). Going to heartbroken when it ends I feel.
Been excited for this adaptation! I must admit during my xianxia craze, the author Jiu Lu Fei Xiang was my favourite. She writes a nice balance of tropes and funny witty lines (and this is based on a Vietnamese translation 😅). So I am very happy to see that at least one of her works are adapted well. Edit: The Legends was great but production budget was quite lacking and the changes to the script. I haven't been brave enough to check the Blue Whisper 😅
In the painting scene when Rong Hua snatched the handkerchief from Chengheng and came close to him. I also thought the same. These two can be a together!!! 🤭
Indeed, Dylan Wang is brilliant in this role that seems to be made for him.
He was fantastic. Not only was he super hot but his acting seriously impressed me.
The scene when DFQC suddendly appears behind Orchid to save her from Heaven realm emperor is the just the bomb, visual slap. And then that epic battle that followed it : magical.
Yes 🙌🏾 literally like a painting. I was like “is this Jesus?”
@@starfire4539 lol
It was great. Does anyone knows the song that played at the back when they were fighting?
That episode got me hyped af...I was jumping on my chair from exitement. It kinda reminded me of episode 32 of the Untamed and I was so happy😭
It looked like black wings....!
what i love about this is that there is literally also no pointless love triangle that they throw around. at one point, you'd think that danyin would be your stereotypical mean girl who'd do anything to ruin orchid and changheng's love story but after having her life saved by the girl she thinks is her enemy, then she comes into a conclusion that she shouldn't hate the very person that saved her. i need more of those characters in dramas. let them act like normal people!
Yesss!!! I loved danyin!!
The body swap is so funny! They both act really well 🤣
Wang He Di puts his big doe eyes to good use.
What you want to know will be told in episodes 17-18
your last paragraf is so "Yang Yang" type characther in his drama.
no offence for his Fans. I am actually his Fans but trying to be objective.
The headpieces drew me in when the first teaser came out a year ago. Since then, I've been waiting for this drama to air.
@@lululittlebox Right?!?! The costume department went all out for this drama. I wonder what their budget was 😭
Headpieces are exactly what made me watch this. Normally they have a crown only. This is amazing
Esther is soo annoying, I almost drop the drama due to her annoying character.
@@mylxiong08 LOL I definitely had to work pass that too. I feel like there has been more annoying FL characters that I couldn’t push through.
Dylan and Esther original vocal, no dubbing for them both
@@happygal1974 that is not Dylan’s real voice
@@happygal1974 that’s not his real voice. There’s a funny video of his own voice while filming vs the voice actor they used lol
Dylan's own voice after their souls switched. Ester is her own voice.
Wang Hedi did a good job, but i feel like ppl dont give enough props for Yu Shuxin. She did a really good job acting very serious in those bodyswapped scenes. And she does her own voice-ing for the drama too.
The scene in the painting was my early tip off that this would be better than average. Also the ML and FL are killing it when they play each other.
yes
💯💯💯
The painting scene was awesome. And well executed!
Yes
I’m glad that someone else see how well this drama is put together. The CGI, the plot, the characters, and the production is way better then Immortal Samsara. Dylan Wang’s acting has improved a lot to his last drama and Esther is just so cute.
The biggest problem with IS is inconsistency, the story sometimes picks, sometimes drags...this one is much more consistent and I must say, with a much better production and money involved.
I dropped IS after a few minutes of the first episode.
I love this show and love seeing the character development ❤❤
@@AW-xu6es it was so awful, CGI was terrible and acting was subpar
@@AW-xu6es I only watched ep 1 and 2. It's kind of boring for me. But it's good, but not as good as this drama LBFaD.
I feel like 2md ML is still to get control over his face when acting.
Love the scene where the second ML taking the first ML to play football game during a school punishment. It was hilarious and so unexpected.
100% agree about Xu Hai Qio. And I think for Dylan the people styling him know that Black/Dark blue/Brown and gold are his colors.
Even a basic story can become great with the right acting and directing
Cause of one word : care. Immortal Samsara can't relate
@@bapyongukgukguk2352 oh yeah... I have no desire whatsoever to watch that drama
Oh my gosh 2 gold mines?? I must give it a watch.
@@crappypatti6646 ohh wow! thanks for the information ☺️
@@munchiekinsJust like how the ML in this isn't voiced by the same actor but was voiced over by another person.
This drama highlighted Wang He Di big pretty eyes.
Exactly! Those eyes I tell you 😍
He should play villain characters! Ik he'll be awesome! Plus some more comedic characters please! He'll nail them too!
Went in without any expectations and hadn’t seen any trailer but I‘m so blown away by it. These are the best experiences, the ones you don’t expect.
Omg same as you. I haven't watched and been able to get into any drama since The Untamed as well. Now... LBF&D is finally breaking me😌😌😌
Somehow I knew that AvenueX would adore this drama even thought the genre is not her favorite.
Also in love with how the director is constantly posting essays on weibo defending the actors and the characters they play lmao, man really loved this project dearly and it shows 😭
Wait really? 😭😭
How did he defend them and why?
SO NOW IT'S SATURDAY!)
Ok but seriously this drama is SO GOOD LIKE HOT DAMN.
I really like esther yu(yu shuxin)'s acting and she is suitable being xiao lan hua and also dylan wang's acting being Demon king
In love with this drama. Love it when Dylan wang is on screen. His eyes are amazing 😻. The special effects is spot on
didi's performance blew everyones mind fr especially the switch he acted so well he definitely has improved so much cannot wait for next episodes
Esther Yu reminds me of Zhao Lusi where they both have limitations yet there are genres they play really well. I'm happy for them because they've worked hard and are constantly improving themselves with each project they do.
I have never been able to get into Zhao Lusi for some reason. I still watch her movies but always more for the male leads.
@@Breenndda the Long Ballad was a kind of breakthrough to all the 4 main characters).
I don't typically watch these types of show but I gave it a try after your rec. And OH MY GOD GIVE ME MY LIFE BACK THIS SHOW HAS ME OBSESSED
I would have continued avoiding it without this review. Thank you
I hope you enjoy the drama when you do watch!
Didn't hear of this drama at all this month but soooo happy I watched this review! I actually binged 30 episodes after hearing this, BLESSSSS
The CGI works here as well. Like this drama works. So far it really works with what it has.
Esther totally nailed the character since.... she doesn't have to act, her real character matches little orchid🤣
Dylan, compare with Miss The Dragon, looks breathtakingly handsome and his acting is very good and entertaining. I can't even able to hate Rong Hao as the villain 😭. The only character I hate is Lord Yun Zhong
I agree that Chang Heng and Rong Hao deserve to be a partner...
I noticed Dylan a lot more in this drama. His expressions were on point. He looked beyond beautiful as Dongfang Qingqang.
This drama is such a surprise. I never thought I was going to watch it but boy am I glad I did.
Aaaah the scene when came to save her from behind and suddenly BOOM THE FIRE THE FLAMES AMAZINY
I had to show the painting scene to my husband because it was so unique and beautifully done. Such a cool idea and so lovely to watch.
Yesssss! This has been a really great show. And the OST is fantastic too!
And with xianxia, it often full of cheats for the sake of the plots, i.e getting the male lead and female lead together.
waiting for this review. i am a fan of shuxin so i am glad many are enjoying and loving this drama❤️
The best drama of 2022! So impressed with Dylan Wang’s acting!
Ahhh, I was hoping you will do a review on this drama. This was a sleeper hit for me! Given your thoughts on the xianxia genre, I wanted to know your thoughts. This has been a great show. Can’t believe I’m on the edge of my seat waiting for the next episodes.
This drama is god tier. I haven’t fangirled this much in years QAQ
I was waiting for this! So glad you like it. I *adore* this drama and am so in love with it.
Damn if I didn't wish to be her... only, if I truly was in her place, I would've already had some nights with My Lord.
I'm so happy to see a positive review for this story because I love it so so much it's the highlight of my day.
Been waiting for this drama for a year and it's really worth the wait! This drama is a masterpiece! I also love xiao lanhua's character so much!!
I started watching because of this video and now I AM OBSESSED!!! HOW CAN I THANK YOU ENOUGH!?!?
Please take notes scriptwriters, this is the kind of Xian Xia drama ,we love and we want
I knew you would feel the Magic! And you did! And yes, best xianxia I watched in min 3 years.
I'm in love with this drama.
Did they finish filling for Heaven Official?
Why?? is heaven officials' blessings not gonna release??? Is it gonna end up like immortality??why??
@@ubu8 The policy is changing every day, so you just really don’t know what’s gonna happen next. I believe there is still hope for bl drama to air in the future
omg i was thinking the same with the whole SJM minus the sex bit
I've just started watching it and am on Episode 4 and omg omg omg.... I'm so loving this.
The female lead of this drama is so cute! 😍
I always listen to your opinions about what makes a good cdrama and not. I'm ecstatic you feel this same way with this drama as I am because it's definitely the best cdrama of the year for me, too! The acting when they SWITCH is chef's kiss, perfect casting!
You look so pretty in that traditional costume 👍🏼
First drama this year that I cannot wait each day. Excellent summary, I love the costumes (not the plastic bits so much). Going to heartbroken when it ends I feel.
actually this Dylan's masterpiece... he is sooo damn good here... he nailed it all the scene... thanks for the wonderful review...
Blue whisperer is the best
@@Vhel0207 I'll be brave and watch it when season 2 is out 😆
The Blue Whisper is an emotional rollercoaster.
So, Jiu Lu Fei wrote The Blue Whisper and The Legends?
I love almost all of Jiu Lu Fei Xiang works. Can’t wait for his/her next adapted to drama, The Seven Unfortunate Lifetime
In the painting scene when Rong Hua snatched the handkerchief from Chengheng and came close to him. I also thought the same. These two can be a together!!! 🤭
YEAH THIS IS THE HOPE FOR ALL XIANXIA, I haven't liked a xianxia show this much since love and destiny actually...so it's been 3 years
This drama made it's way to my top 3 favorite xianxia very quickly and I had very low expectations when I started it.
