One thing I do really appreciate is that the FL and ML are actually portrayed as being fighters of equal skill who help each other out vs. hyping up the FL and then having her be constantly a damsel in distress in fights. Also the FL's fabric weapon and how she chooses to do primarily non-lethal damage (and they show what happens when she chooses to do lethal damage holy shit) vs. the ML's fan and how he goes in right for the kill is really reflective of their character's personalities, so I thought that was cool detail

Agreed. It’s beautiful to experience a relationship of equals on multiple levels - physical skill, intellectual skill, and values alignment. I’d love to meet someone someday who I’m compatible with in all these beautiful ways and feel like we can support one another as we take on the world together.

That's the reason I enjoyed this drama so much, also it I may add, how from a first second it was clear ML is in love with FL and she didn't see it, I love this trope. Still one of my fav dramas.
I I will see another strong FL who is saved at every corner I will combust.

I am crazy addicted to "Who Rules the World"! Thank you Netflix. I haven't seen as many C-dramas as you have, so so much of this story is all new to me and I love it. I know that how quickly they get around the continent is not realistic, but I just love the love story. I usually stick to BL dramas, but this was amazing. Yang Yang is so amazing. I will watch anything with him in it.

Despite all its flaws in actually loving it so far & now that I've watched ep 16 it's so good!! The best episode so far! Really loving leads chemistry & storyline I like it it doesn't bore me, I don't skip scenes which is good . I love this drama simply because it's never boring. Every episode is exciting. Most dramas nowadays are boring and draggy in the first half but this one is different. It reminds me of the old time hong kong fast pace wuxia series but with much better effects. I actually enjoyed the fast fighting scenes rather than the slow ones in many dramas nowadays. Love every minute of it. I wish it was longer though like maybe 50 episodes. I feel like they cut out many scenes to make it shorter but it made some parts of the storyline missing. For example how bai feng xi's master was killed and how she was framed. And that foolish Langhua just pieced her with a sword . I feel like the real story was definitely missing in there.

I was so confused before if it actually had 44 or 45 episodes because online I saw that floating around but I only saw the regular 40 episodes. I wish it was up to 44 or 45 at least and then the ending would have been nicer and a little less rushed.

I just finished this one. Frankly, the story has its plot holes, and it became more about schemes with the queen and brother. At first, I did feel they were kinda interesting, like the exam cheating case, but then, everything was solved smoothly. It was hard to feel tension after that. The protagonists' halo was large. And you can expect all kinds of cliche scenarios you've seen before to appear. When I saw how conveniently Bai Fengxi was saved at one point, it even felt like a parody genre production. LOL.
However, I was very entertained throughout the journey because of the romance. The dynamics of the leads are just pure joy to watch. Their healthy relationship developed naturally, and there was trust, genuine friendship and actual communication! They treated each other with respect, as they didn't try to impose their views or desires or even life goals on each other, and they were both able to make sacrifices for the other. No stupid misunderstandings or separations. They are a very cute couple, and that's truly what made the show not only salvageable, but fun even!
Can anyone recommend me dramas with couples like this one, please?

I agree with everything in your review except for one fundamental aspect. I find the story fascinating and satisfying, so far. The storyline keeps me looking forward to the next episode to find out what happens next to our formidable pair. Most important, I am not bored. This may not be the most sophisticated plot line ever presented but the action and the scheming are sufficiently entertaining without being too stressful.
This drama strikes just the right note for me in terms of escapism without insulting my intelligence, annoying me or provoking undue depression and anxiety.

Zhao Lusi imprressed me here because I'm very used to her acting all cute and silly, but here she does have that air, but she is much more badass. It makes me happy to see her acting grow more from Romance of Tiger and Rose (I've seen more but that one was the most entertaining for me), to her as the side couple in The Long Ballad, and now this. The drama is very visually pleasing as you've mentioned and entertaining enough, so I'm glad I started watching it. It's by no means an amazing drama that I can't stop watching, but it's a chill watch. I agree with your emphasis on how this is not a true wuxia drama and it doesn't bring that type of thrill from fightning scenes like the og ones. Side note: your fan moves are so cool haha

Anyways I loved ancient love poetry last year and I for once actually enjoy this particular light-fabric clothing style. I've been enjoying this drama quite a bit. Zhao Lusi and Yang Yang have a cute chemistry that has been enjoyable so far. Hope the later part of the drama doesn't disappoint either! I’m definitely a Yan fen lol. But yang yang and Zhao lusi have such a cute chemistry, I’m willing to look over all the obvious plot holes. One thing I’d like to mention is how so far Bai feng xi as a female lead who is supposed to be smart, skilled is as good as Hei feng xi ( at least the way the story is moving). Hopefully this is consistent in the future episodes and the fl doesn’t magically turn dumb. I was super worried about the skill disparity between two characters who are supposed to be equals as we see with many, many dramas so it’s refreshing to see a female lead who is truly the male leads equal excluding all the other common sense stuff.

Oh yes, don't know if it's her improvement overall in acting or done specifically for this role, but I most certainly noticed right away that her posture and stance are really great. Definitely stood out in a good way.
Even when her character is slouching around or being lazy, it is done so very beautifully. I hope its part of her evolving acting skills and she keeps the posture for her future projects, definitely is pleasing to the eye.

I’ve just finished the drama and personally enjoyed it a lot! I do take note of some of its flaws, but i find it to be insignificant int the grand scheme of things when compared to the aspects I enjoyed in this drama. Personally I think this is the most BALANCEDLY WRITTEN ML & FL of a drama of this genre! The court politics (though there’s some shortcuts in how they solve it) are still quite intriguing to me and keep me seated. And despite some people feeling like the romantic progress between ML-FL was slow, i feel it evolves at the right pace true to their individual personality, which is focusing on finding their own version of happiness/true self and just happen to find someone along the way. Plus it’s such a healthy relationship full of trust and communication (minus the hiding their royal identity part).

So I'm a novel fan read it in 2015. Despite some logical fallacies, I made it thru episodes 1-14 fine. I actually really liked the series so far. Yeah I was a little annoyed that they underdeveloped several characters such as Han Pu's character, taking away his development arc, by significantly reducing the way he dealt with his trauma, or taking away an important line BFX tells Xiao Xue Kong which completely changes his entire demeanor from that point onwards. I've come to accept that the crew had to decide what's more important to keep within the length of 40 episodes because the story...is long.
I was also annoyed that they took out the pair of white and black moon head jewels that were key identifiers of the ML and FL, completely rewrote Feng Qi Wu's character (who was a physically weak musician not on official of the court), added too many characters that were not really necessary (where their role was either completely different, or nonexistence in the novel), and butchered the timeline of the actual story. Honestly at this point, if they can make a coherent and decent story, I won't even be mad.
I understand that you can't expect the exact same story from the novel to come out of production either because some things simply cannot be produced, or certain aspects of writing won't work on the screen. The production team has to make a decision on what is the best way to adapt the book for both feasibility and for the sake of actually be entertaining for viewers. At this point, I still really liked the drama because I felt that it respected the source material enough that despite some setbacks its still a pretty good production.
    *SPOILERS!!! PROCEED WITH CAUTION*
However, I finished episodes 15 and 16 earlier, and I'm completely pissed beyond the realm of comprehension. I won't even mention how they completely changed the dynamic of BFX and HFX's relationship because it contains major spoilers. But just the ORCHID FLOWER alone is enough to piss me off to another dimension. HFX's ultimate (physical) token of love and symbol of the story's central theme (which i can't say because spoilers) is the *Lan Yin Bi Yue* also known as *Orchid Jade Moon*. He spent years and years planting her this flower to where it becomes extremely important in the sequel/spin-off (so important the whole novel is named after it). This official declaration of love that has been praised (borderline worshiped) throughout generations after their lifetime which has become a symbol of both love and power.
Where is it at in the drama and what happened to it should you ask?!?!?
IT BECOMES A MARTIAL ARTS SKILL MADE BY A POWERFUL ELDER MARTIAL ARTIST, THAT EVERYONE IS APPARENTLY FIGHTING FOR! YES THERE IS ALSO A PHYSICAL FLOWER...BUT ITS FREAKIN PLANTED BY THAT ELDER!!! NOT. HEI. FENG. XI!!! THEY END UP INHEIRATING IT FROM HIM!!! "wtf!"
*THE ONE THING YOU CAN'T SCREW UP OUT OF THE ENTIRE ADAPTATION IS THAT DAMMM FLOWER AND THEY CHOSE TO DO THAT EXACT THING... FOR WHAT?!?!*
All anger aside, my point is: change and creativity in a novel adaptation is good because you have a chance to correct any plot holes, enhance the original work, or give the viewers a pleasant experience. However, if you're at the point where its actually disrespecting the original work (by changing the entire symbol of the main theme of the novel) then you should consider just making a new story because it's no longer an adaptation when the main point of the story is already gone.
I will continue to watch it to the end because I'd like to see what else they change, and if the story can still be saved. It's an enjoyable drama, I stand by this statement up to this point. I can see myself actually liking it if I don't consider the novel.
I also highly recommend everyone to check out the book. It's well written, intriguing, with a developed world building, and wonderful characters with amazing character developments!
Thank you 🙏🙏🙏 (and sorry)😓 everyone who read this really long rant.

@@Lily-iy4rv This is enough for you to believe she did ALL the stunts even after watching the fighting scenes??!!? Lol have you watched other fighting scenes and their BTS to see the difference? Fortunately my eyes are clear and all Chinese viewers think the same as me. We have been watching cdramas for almost 30 years including some of the most classic wuxia.
Believe me! It’d very different if she did all the stunt herself. Aka they would have filmed her closeup and her whole body movements with all the action scenes and not just 1 million angles and all the cgi. Some of those who did most is their stunts recent I would remember is Zheng Ye Cheng, Huang Xuan and Song Qian. Others who usually do their own stunts are Liu Shi Shi and Liu Yi Fei, etc… And yes they still have their stunt doubles who did the dangerous scenes for them. Watch their fighting scenes and bts to see the differences if you are interested.
I do think it’s funny that ZLS or her studio don’t dare to say she did all the stunts herself because they would be scolded to death. There are many already making fun of their fighting scenes. As a fan of the novel myself, I completely agree with the things you have said except for the part of about the white clothing because that's part of BFX's identity and changing that wouldn't really make sense. But I do agree with the general usage of the white asthetic in Cdramas. Besides the points you've made though, they made so many other changes to the original characters and story line where I REFUSE to acknowledge this drama as 且试天下. 我的白月光被魔改了!
They completely changed the storyline of Feng Qiwu, Huang Yu (from male to female WTF), Bai Langhua, Xiu Jiurong and from rumors Yu Wuyuan as well.
Deleted Zhong Yuan (Zhong Li's twin brother), Tian Lao and Di Lao (who are the leads actual 师傅 and their chess game), and the head accessories that symbolized the two leads from existence, added a bunch of random characters, changed the story of Lan Yin Bi Yue (OUTRAGEOUS because HFX spent 8 years to grow it!), made BFX less powerful and always needs HFX to intervene to get her out of trouble (FOR WHAT?). There's many more I havent listed and I'm sure there will be more to come.
Also this drama is 甜宠,and in the original novel, BFX didn't even actually acknowledge her feelings for HFX until after they got married.
Overall, this is still one of the better produced dramas recently and ignoring the fact it's based off of QSTX and treating it as something unrelated, I'll still watch for the leads pretty faces and the fact that there isn't anything else to watch.
Thank you for reviewing it as I've been waiting for this one from you.

Yesss! Thank you so much for writing this! OMG I feel like we share the same braincell for this matter. As a fan of all 3 books, the novel, prequel, and sequel/spinoff, the way they destroyed Lan Yin Bi Yue was my breaking point. I accidently smashed my hand on the table and left a bruise when reached to pause the first mention of the flower in ep 15, I thought I heard/read incorrectly when that phrase "Lan Yin Bi Yue" came up. I had to replay to comprehend what I was seeing. My actual reaction was: WTF is happening?!?! Next was full rage: They did not!!!
*Spoiler Ahead!!! For Anyone Who's Not Already Familiar With The Story. Proceed With Caution!*
Don't even get me started on how they gave BFX and HFX's relationship a completely different meaning. Literally the most beautiful aspect of their love was the uneasy and weary nature of it. Both FL and ML were reserved and repulsed their feelings because they did not trust each other when they are pitted against what the other was fighting for. BFX especially did not trust HFX when he is prompted to choose between her and power. Their marriage despite their fondness of each other also was a bargain to keep peace between two nations. My favorite scene was when she jumped from the tower and he went after her, mindlessly and accepting that the could die there with her right then. In the novel every single encounter of BFX and HFX had meaning and led to the purpose of either building the relationship itself, or adding on to the plot and world building.
The timing of each encounter and the events in the story that it triggered were almost perfect. Both parties are constantly calculating their every move to ensure that there's no misstep that will lead to adverse catalysts for the state of the world. It was after their marriage and countless battles where they were both able to truly understand, trust, love each other, and change each other for the better.
Now the drama opted to make cute lovey scenes from the beginning. There's no build up for foundation of their special relationship. It replaces their unique relationship and the value of their relationship to what you typically see in dramas. That's disappointing to see, but I understand that its eye candy for other viewers. I just question whether that was the right decision. Do people really just want to see cute eye candy or do they prefer an intriguing and deep relationship of two people fated to be together by their nature, but separated by opposing views and goals they have for life.
Now the drama even has me questioning whether it will live up to the name 且试天下. Or will they change the ending entirely because they need a 'peRfeCt~' ending.
Nevertheless, I still think its an overall decent drama that worth watching. I won't have any problems with it if it wasn't 且试天下. If this was an original script I'd like it more. I know that sometimes changes are necessary and can even make the story better in some aspects but there are defined boundaries that adaptations should not cross. Lan Yin Bi Yue and BFHX's relationship were definitely major boundaries, and so are the head accessories and other characters arcs.

@@annatasheakingsley1734 @ytm So, once again a book is bought for only its fanbase and the production team's going to dumb everything down and ignore 80% of the book. So sick of "adaptations" that doesn't pay respect to its original source material. Why can't they at least respect character dynamics/personalities and the overall spirit of the original?
I've been harboring some hopes since I enjoyed the director's previous drama, "Love and Redemption" (had flaws, but I overall enjoyed the plot/execution). Since I know the original book isn't merely a romance and had interesting main leads who have major tension/conflicts btw them, I was hoping the director would at least respect that dynamic. And finally, a story where the FL isn't a cutesy damsel and has no interest in the ML for quite a while into the story! But alas, sounds like the director's going to ignore all that tension and make their relationship into another cutesy cliche. I'm fine with well-executed cliches, but not when the original source has such a well-written relationship btw leads that's rife with tension/excitement/layers beyond the typical "lovey-dovey" types that permeates most Cdrama romances.
I've been looking forward to see how the director/script writer tackles this relationship, but now from what I hear, they're just going with the "leads are already in love and protective of one another" angle without prior buildup. Soooo disappointed...wanted another "Ten Miles..." or "Word of Honor," but that's too tall of an order.

@@annatasheakingsley1734 I definitely agree with you (also just saw your first comment on this video) and this feels like a completely different story from the novel itself, except for some scenes where they pull out of the book. Like you said, some change is okay, but not to this extent.
There is just SO MUCH details they left out that I would have loved to see. For example, the details describing BFX and Han Pu's relationship -- Han Pu explaining why he gave BFX the prescription instead of HFX even though his dad's actions showed he hated BFX during the banquet, how Han Pu was given a choice to choose between BFX or HFX to travel with but chose BFX, and how BFX joked about using Han Pu as a bet when she went gambling so she can win enough money to purchase Han Pu food, new clothing, etc. and Han Pu breaking down after thinking BFX was really going to sell him off. Also the small interactions like BFX always "smacking" Han Pu on the head.
They also erased the fact that BFX and HFX was the ones who exterminated Duan Hun Men (断魂门) 10 years ago together and the backstory behind why BFX hates them and vows to eliminate every last person from Duan Hun Men.
Also watching HFX fight for the spot for crown prince was like ??? since in the novel, HFX was already in power and had everything under his control. I could go on and on but I'll stop here since it's getting long and I definitely will say this drama does not live up to my expectations as a fan of the novel.
And if they downplay the events of Luo Ying Shan I will be SOOO PISSED!!! I hope they at the very least get this right.
I'm sure many fans of the novel are feeling the same as us and it's nice to see someone like you to hear me rant. :)

@@Constances1996 I don't mind you ranting at all because I'm doing the same. Thanks so much for your response! This novel is such a masterpiece, a rare gem in a sea of Chinese webnovels. The fact that I read it once in 2015, and recalled so much details to comprehend its intricacies shows that its a story meant to savor and do lots of self reflection to see the underlaying themes. This adaption really doesn't do it justice, but it passes for entertainment purposes so I won't try to persuade anyone against it. In fact, it may draw more attention to the novel so that's good. As for me, the drama gave me a reason to reread the novel. Now that I'm older I expect my experiences make different influences on my reading. I can't wait to see the story in a different light!
My final complaint for the day is Yu Wuyuan's portray. I was so caught up in the Lan Yin Bi Yue incident that I forgot to make an input on how they completely destroyed his character. If you open any posts on Mydramalist or any released videos of this drama you'll be flooded with "Yu Wuyuan is the Final Boss comments." So apparently he's the leader of Duan Hun Men now?!? I have no words... Do remind me if I completely blanked out on such an important plot since it has been more than 7 years since I read the book. I'm just dumbfounded at this point. I remembered I bookmarked a translation of the Author's notes at the end of the book, so I dug it out.
For those who's sad Wuyuan is a villian, here's a snippet of a direct quote of Author about YWY. "This is a lone soul, a lone soul who know when he will be wiped out in ashes, a lone soul who abandons all warmth and loneliness, and a lone soul who personally wields a sword to sever all hope! He came to this world, but to fulfill his mission, when the mission was over, he disappeared." All generations of the Yu family were born to support the emperor the people needs, they are committed to bringing the ultimate peace even if there's bloodshed in the process =, that's why YWY's ancestor was cursed, and for generations they endured the pain of short lifespan. I won't spoil the rest.
@ytm @usagi and everyone reading this, hope there's a wonderful novel or film out there suited for your taste. Thank you for reading my rant!

What? He killed one of us? Let's continue to go at him one at a time!" Also pretty obvious that Bai Fengxi is going to be Feng XiYun or whomever Yang Yang's character is so in love with even only after seeing her once or twice when they were children hah but then when Hei Fengxi's alter ego got revealed to female lead she didn't say anything about her being that girl that he's met. I am hoping there will be something interesting to reveal with Zhao Lusi's back story as a princess. Quite a bit disappointed because this drama has been so hyped and waited for - but I will still watch it anyway because of Zhao Lusi and Yang Yang has just amazing visuals in traditional costume. Just finished this and there were so many plot holes but I still enjoyed it until the last 2 episodes.
Good points - I love a power couple and these two are definitely a power couple. I love that Bei Fengxi isn't just described as a badass, but actually shown to be one. I hate when shows tell us powerful the female character is then all we see if her being rescued by the guy. In this, they were both powerful and intelligent in their own right. There was respect and Feng Lanxi really saw her as his equal.
I also liked the politics, even though they were easily resolved. It was light enough yo enjoy without feeling too heavy.
Now the bad points - the illogical plot holes. It was bearable until the last 2 episodes. I mean, what the hell happened. One minute the two Fengxis are chatting, the next they're at the Imperial palace with Han Chou with no explanation as to how they met him, what conversation took place, why they agreed to go together etc.
Then the two Fengxis decide to abdicate their throne and no mention of what the hell happens to their kingdoms. Like Bei Fengi literally has no living relatives, who the hell is looking after the people?
Then Han Pu, like what was the point of killing him? It added no value to the story other than a cheap attempt to bring sorrow.
And where did that old man come from to save Bei Fengxi? Literally just pops up conveniently at the end with a convenient solution.
Overall I enjoyed the show even with the flaws but the last few episodes were so disjointed that it almost ruined the experience.

Thank you for taking the time to give us your review. I completely agree with you. For me I just try not to watch it from a logical standpoint because most scenes defies basic logic… With that said i still find it interesting enough to keep watching. I am also a fan of both leads that helps too.

My thoughts (mostly -ve, but still watching it 😶)
    1. I really enjoyed Zhao Lusi's performance in tiger n rose and I hear you, so I look forward her dramas. But then her last few dramas were really meh. So I was doubtful if I should watch this one. I gave it a try and its watchable.
    2. I liked the actions scenes. They are not top notch but I enjoy watching them.
    3. Truly agree with AveX, yang yang could have done better.
    4. Idk, if its the wrong synopsis or my understanding, but I thought bai & hei fengxi were on opposite sides. And I was expecting some good fights between them. But from ep1 hei fx is protecting bai fx and they are coordinating and helping each other.
    4. The names of characters and places are so similar, its really confusing for a non Chinese person like me.
    5. Even the people look very similar 🤣. Like if the emperor, lan xi's father lord and his caretaker are dressed same, I can't distinguish them. All the ministers in white clothing looks same too. I don't know who's the good or bad one. And its only ep 14.. 26 more to come.
    6. Some logic fails like the bed in the cave. Also there's magic photocoping. I mean really!!! Firstly its something that no one heard of. Then FL shows it to ML just once. 5min later, everyone knows how to use the technique. If its so easy to use, why was it unkwown till date?
    7. So many characters from 10 miles. Like the gods and martial fighters decided to settle in the altogether in same kingdom.
    8. The series started with the tribe trying to steal the token and everyone's searching for them. Suddenly it all turned into melodrama where the stepmom is trying to get rid of stepson!!

I didn't read the novel. The setup is simple. Six fairly independently ruled states in an empire. (Think Great Britain, England, Scotland, Ireland, Australia, Canada...) At least some of the states have the intention to overthrow the current emperor and/or wipe out the other states. According to novel fans, there are no simple evil villains just different sides. ML and FL are from different states. FL is concerned about all people not just her own. ML is more ambiguous. Apparently, he has no problem using her as a pawn. They are supposed to be more antagonistic for some time. But once the drama removes all the FL's crushes before she truly falls for the ML...
ML's intelligence agency is not doing a good job. I would think at least in its home state, it should have intelligence on all officials, royal relations and various alliances. But nope. Even ML's older half-brother's epileptic episode that led to a few of his employees getting killed was belatedly reported to him. That kungfu copying technique would be so useful to its business, yet none of them knew about it.

@@milamilla1977 definitely he's not a role model. The person who was given the responsibility to take over a empire, decided to abandon his people and lead martial life!! He didn't even bother to hand over the job. So did the FL. What nonsense...

Why... WHY did I keep watching Who rules the World??
Normally, I listen to/watch/abide to Avenue X's recommendations. This time, its not that I did not listen to, its just that there really isn't anything else good to watch right now! So I continued watching Who rules the World.
I should have heeded Avenue X's good advice. I've now learned my lesson.
I have completely wasted 23 hours of my life, that I can't get back. (23 hours cuz I've watched 31 episodes, 45 min each.)
So people, listen to Avenue X.

Drama is so good. Very Very impressed by Lusi. Her acting also improved in so many areas. She does have an amazing way to capture attention of the audience. I never felt the emotions of the character so deep. But her acting and small details makes so natural to look at. Never makes you feel that she is not what she is portraying. She does have amazing aura around her. Drama is excellent...there are some plot holes and dragging sometimes..but people are so eyecandy to watch so it wont make too draggy and you will sure enjoy the drama..

In my opinion, this drama is my most enjoyable CDrama of 2022. I find no useless dialog and annoying maids with endless trashy dialog, lol
But, I also agree that some parts of it I also find... not make any sense. I also agree at the "makeover scene", I hope at least, the stylist put some hair accessories and jewelry on her dress
The bed that you've mentioned, and the kid from the Wang family who has his family slaughtered offer night but is very cheerful without PTSD... smiled when I saw it coz I know you'll put it on notice
So far I think the CGI team did quite a good job and I can enjoy the fighting scenes. And so far, I can enjoy the story and I will continue to watch it

I am enjoying ‘Who Rules The World’. I think I am a better judge of what i like than most critics. Most critics’ approaches to films is not always shared by us, the public. In most cases, it has led to a certain amount of self importance by these critics. Personally I try avoiding RUclips reviews from influencing me but I just thought I’d take a listen.

Why do you keep watching..." hahahahaha I will be completely honest, I don't always agree with your ratings but everyone has their own opinions and I find your opinions quite entertaining. Love the extra knowledge you bring into your reviews. If I ever watched a video of yours where I don't agree with a comment, it doesn't offend me but hey I did ask for it for watching the video so your statement is quite true. As for this series, I'm pretty much in agreement with you. Story is a bit too slow for me but very visually pleasing and mostly just watching for the beautiful CP xP Let's just hope the story doesn't get worst. I enjoy watching cdramas but lately, they have a lot of trouble wrapping up the endings. It's always so messy. Thanks for your review and even if you said those fan tricks are easy, I'm still quite impressed with your skills!

The thing I loved about this drama was the relationship between the Princes. Usually in dramas, the princes don't have a good relationship whatsoever and are always competing with one another and I really loved to see that Lanxi and his older brother were two peas in a pod (at least at first).
I also liked the fact that Prince Ju wasn't just some mindless Mama's boy prince but actually had his own ideas and goals, even if he is a horrible person. I love characters who act one way and are completely the opposite of what they show others.
Also, the oldest prince having Epilepsy hit me. I have Epilepsy too so that was tough to see him go through what he did 😞

I truly appreciate all your sensible, amusing and enlightening reviews. I have become a Chinese drama junkie lately and enjoy the intricate plot lines, beautiful productions and background music. However, I have also noticed many jarring aspects that you mention in your reviews, which make me smile. Inevitably, someone always falls off the same cliff and survives; there is a competition of sorts; the main characters manage to change costumes in the middle of nowhere or difficult situations or even during desperate chases, and despite being destitute, somehow acquire horses or carriages, have decent accommodation and plenty of food and drink with which to drown their sorrows. Nevertheless, I feast on these entertaining and fabulous cinematic pleasing series, despite some glaring flaws.
