One of my favorite things about the fight scenes is that people actually get winded and fatigued. So often in movies and shows it seems like nobody is really exerting themselves, despite how strenuous it is to be in a constant fight for minutes on end.

Little known fact but Daredevil's origin story inspired the TMNT's origin story okay hear me out...
In the original TMNT comics from 1984 A kid pushed a old man out of the way of a oncomming truck carrying strange canisters, the truck swerved out of the way but one of the canisters flew out of truck. The container struck that kid in the face, bounced off of the pavement and smashed into a onlooker's small aquarium filled with turtles. The shattered glass, canister and turtles all fell into an open manhole cover the four turtles were they found by spliner they all started to mutate and the rest is history

Story time: several years ago, I was at a Wizard World convention, where Charlie Cox and Elden Henson (Foggy) were guests for meet and greets. Charlie's queue was hella long, but _nobody_ was waiting to see poor Elden. So I went there to say hello, and let him know how much I loved his performance in the show. He actually seemed surprised to hear someone say it. I explained that supporting cast is critical to any show, to ground the main protagonist. And Foggy Nelson has been around every bit as long as Daredevil has. He really appreciated the sentiment.

I always bring this up about supporting cast in comic books. A few years ago Superman and Batman each had 80th anniversaries, but they weren't the only ones. Action Comics 1 is the first appearance of Superman, but it's also the first appearance of Lois Lane. Jimmy Olsen was only a few issues later. In Detective Comics 27, Batman first appeared and so did Jim Gordon. A lot of shit has been talked about Robin, but that character is only a year behind Batman, predating even Alfred.

@@AnotherViewer Echo is looking like a course correction for Fisk. Daredevil Season 3 writers are even working on it. I think they assumed they could have a more cartoony Fisk in HE because the comics get away with that kind of inconsistency just find. Kingpin is much goofier in SM and HE comics than he is in DD and Punisher comics. That works fine in comics, so they assumed it would work in live action. It didn’t. So now they’re course correcting.

The breaking bones are part of the reason that Daredevil (and the other Netflix Marvel shows) are behind an age barrier. And all of Matt Murdock's senses are enhanced. I absolutely love how the show portrays the character of James Wesley and his relationship with Kingpin. Throughout the series, Fisk is shown to be excessively emotionally driven and gives into fits of rage and tantrums when things don't go his way, while Wesley is the more even-keeled, pragmatic side, and there's a strong implication that Wesley has specifically been the key to Fisk's success up to this point. The fact that he is unapologetic and unyielding in his loyalty and dedication to Fisk's goals but is still able to take initiative in handling conflicts in a way that effectively represents Fisk's ambitions make him such a fascinating character. I would actually go as far to say he's a more compelling villain than Fisk himself. Not to mention, Toby Leonard Moore is such an incredible actor. I wish he was cast in more roles.

Just something to note - 42:34 “and he found the lights.” Sure, it adds to the visuals of the show, but taking out the lights is a strategic move on Matt’s part. He’s blind so he doesn’t need them, but his enemies do. He’s giving himself more of an advantage by taking out the lights. His enemies can’t see, but he still can.

"I got next" was a common action for arcades and pinball games back in the day indicating you're lined up to play next game. When you have long line ups or many people playing it was a civilized method so that games aren't hogged or controlled by only one or two people so that everyone gets to play.
If there isn't a quarter (price of play) on the game waiting to go in that means no one's lined up. by placing it on the game by the drop slot waiting that's being 'lined up to play'.

I was cracking up at the beginning of the reaction, your dog is so cute and had the most confused look when you started yelling when Daredevil broke the first guys arm. This is a fantastic show and even though it can be gruesome at times it's not overly played or gratuitous, it's very affectively done. I'm one that doesn't like gore or most horror movies and even though some scenes can be hard to watch it fits with the story being told. I think there are so many great elements to this show from the story, to caring about the characters, to the mystery of what makes the villain tick, to how intriguing the characters are, to making the legal side interesting, and just how good the actors are. Not to mention I really love the title intro to the show. I think it makes a lot of people nervous about what's going to happen with these characters going forward in the mcu and I don't think I'm talking solely about the R rating but the elements combined that make up the essence of this show being altered too much or watered down. I know they are saying these characters are gonna be different but why acquire these Netflix shows in the first place if not to have these shows and the characters established stories be relevant, they could have just cast these actors alone without putting these original shows on Disney Plus as well.

One of the best series Netflix has done, hopefully Marvel will keep the show with the same grit as this one.

Dude from the punisher said the only way he well play the character again is if disney keeps it gritty and if they try to disney/mcu it he will not reprise the role

Wesley handing Fisk his hankerchief when he himself is splattered in blood is a perfect distillation of that character.
You can get anything accomplished with a bro like that in your corner.

It's been a while, and I do remember really liking this series, but I had really forgotten how good it was. Everything about this was great. The MCU could use some of this. Obviously it's not for all audiences, but I would love if there was some more R-rated MCU content taking a look at the grimier side of things.
And Vincent D'Onofrio as Wilson Fisk was just about the best casting possible. He was so intimidating and creepy, but also weirdly vulnerable and likeable.

The MCU needs variety. They did right with Ms Marvel by making it for younger audiences, but they need more mature shows too. It's just boring if all their shows and movies are the same rating all the time

@@goodtimesgivecancer1 Exactly, which was one of the things that I enjoyed most about the Netflix shows, and why I was so disappointed when they stopped making them. It wasn't all gold, but it was all watchable, unlike most of the Disney+ series (IMO at least).

@@jawbone78 I enjoy that they seem to be playing with tone a lot more. Shang Chi, Dr Strange 2, Ms Marvel and Moon Knight all have really different styles to usual MCU stuff and that's refreshing. They really fell into a formula from Iron Man up to Infinity War and that started getting stale.

      @@goodtimesgivecancer1 Agreed & I think that’s where they’re headed.
MoM kinda caught me off guard with the implied violence & there was also USAgent caving someone’s chest in, but they just need that extra nudge. It’s clear to me they’re setting up a few new teams in the coming phases. 2 of the more notable ones are the Midnight Sons & the Thunderbolts and I’m hoping one of those groups end up representing the mature side of the MCU.
With the Midnight Sons, you’re gonna have people like Moon Knight (specifically Jake Lockley) & Blade who could really benefit from the R rating. On the Thunderbolts, some of the anti-heroes in the comics who appear on the team are Deadpool & Punisher and IMO those are 2 characters who absolutely NEED the mature rating. I’m glad they made the right call with keeping Deadpool rated R, but I’m hoping they start doing it for other characters too.

Season 1 of this show is LEGIT. Honestly, possibly the best thing produced in the MCU in my opinion. It doesn't have the spectacle of the big superhero movies, but it's just shot, written, and acted so well.

I actually think Jessica Jones season one may outclass this one by just a whisker. Using the supervillain angle as an analogy for real, honest-to-God suffering that's inflicted on some people was wonderfully portrayed by Kristen Ritter and David Tennant.

@@Bad_Wolf_Media I loved that show too, and it was probably for me the 2nd best of the marvel TV stuff, but on a personal level im definitely more drawn to the action and darkness of this. It mirrors a lot of the feel from Frank Millers "The Man Without Fear" run and may actually be the closest thing on screen to a Batman: Year One ironically. I do feel that the acting is a little better across the board in this show, though i feel like Jessica Jones is a deeper show in terms of its themes.
