Love how electricians (and electrical engineers) explain things in a way that only an electrician (or electrical engineer) can understand. Ham radio guys do the same thing. It drives me nuts.
finally a useful trailer troubleshooting video. Funny thing is i knew this, great reminder! Thank you!
Thank you and thanks for watching.
My running lights are bright my brake lights are bright but why would my turn Signal lights not be bright and flash oddly and dim when everything is hooked up? When I unhook the trailer plug my turn signal lights on my truck go back to normal. Do you think it could be a bad ground or something with the plug? I got the kit that plugs into my existing wiring harness under the bed of my truck I was told by a friend that the module in the plug-in could be bad but if that was so would it not make the passenger side break light on the truck act up? Any help would be nice thank you for your time have a grate day
Thanks for the diagram
Thank you bill, great video! I think you might secretly be the voice of joe from family guy as well haha
does the trailer have to on in order to get a reading on the multimeter? amazing video btw the only one i understand
Some are wired to get ground from the hitch, So some times yes. Thx for watching.
Neat. Thanks!
I have 6 pins and bolt on the side can you tell if the bolt is the ground?
How is this reading the ohms from the trailer lights,, your just testing the ohms on the plug not full wire? wouldn't you need to be at each end of the wire to test for breakage?
This video not for beginners man have to already understand this shit.
Thank you
Thank you and thx for watching.
So where are you putting the black lead of the multimeter, you say it goes to common but it looks like you're hooking it up through the ground connector?
I am checking the wire harness. I am using the wire harness grd wire, Checking ground connection to the auto I would put the black lead on a good ground location on the auto and have the trailer hooked to the auto. Thx for watching.
Is this john Wayne?
No. Thx for watching.
ahhhh ahhhh.. what do you think .... pilgrim. we're burning daylight.
Hahaha...I thought the same thing. You sound just like John Wayne. (Take that as a compliment, Pilgrim)
"Talk low, talk slow and dont say too much"
John Wayne
Does the trailer need to be on the ball in order to test the lights, or can it just be plugged in? Thanks. Good vid. Btw, you sound like John Wayne.
To do the ohm test no it doesn't need to be on the ball. If the ground wire is good and connected to the vehicle. It should work without being on the ball. Some times the grounds are not good or connected and through the ball is the path to ground. In this case yes it needs to be connected to the ball. Thx for watching.
I second the John Wayne comment.
Just hook up a 12 volt battery to each wire...... and watch which lights turn on... this method is complex :(
Was very good until you got to the blackboard. Beginners pull these videos to get instruction. You assume we know the symbols. You said, "Here's your light bulb, here's your ground." but you didn't point to anything. Most of us could learn it here, but now we have to pull someone else's video to learn what you could have easily explained. Just in case you are interested in feed back from the field. Still thumbed up.
audio sucks
