Woh what a fabulous superb marvellous nice dish with full marks as it is unique with each separate grain without having any shape of glue like and smart presentation with loving colour
It's a typical Hyderabadi Mash-Ki-Dal. A regular breakfast with roti. For side dish serve with Kairi-ka-achar. Muaah
Once the dal is 90% done, add a cup of milk close the lid and simmer- it's optional.

My mother’s ancestors were from Rohtak which I believe is near Delhi. She used to make this daal exactly the same way. I love your cooking!
