Fix for BLACK SCREEN WHEN CONNECTING DISCORD ISSUE: This is usually an issue due to windows directing your GPU power elsewhere, try right clicking on The OBS icon and choose if ‘run as administrator’ and try again. If this doesn’t work, there are some other options to try here: www.obs.live/articles/2019/3/20/how-to-fix-the-obs-capture-window-black-issue
You are so very attractive. I have a crush on.
It's white on me
I've found this to be incredibly useful in having multiple POVs on the same stream by capturing their screen share instead of their webcam. And with a simple scene change being able to flip the picture-in-picture perspective! Thanks for the great vids!
Looking for ways to host 2 speakers for a LinkedIn Live event and the internet gave me this video gift even 4 years after publishing it. A lot of useful tips are already saving me from all the headaches. Thank you for the work you sent to me here in 2024.
Great to hear this is still helpful all this time later! Thank you and best of luck with your event! 💟
Gonna stream with a 2nd person for the first time in about an hour, started panic-googling how to set that up with OBS and I found this; THANK YOU!!
How exciting!! Glad to help and you got this! GOOD LUCK!! :D
@@BeckiLea it was a disaster lmao omg, the entire first hour was us trying to figure out Parsec. We'll have to plan it better lol
FINALLY found out how to do this! Thank you so much!
Glad it was helpful - have fun with it 🤩
"Say if you're watching this two years in the future." >.>
One year
Setting up a podcast within my stream so this is something I’m goin to try when I get home. Never had a second camera on my stream. Thank you so much
That Alt+Click tip to crop in the video at 3:16 is gonna save me TONS of time! Thank you 😍 It's the quick tip I didn't even know I needed!
Love this ha ha! I feel like I should have made a video just for that little tip 😂🙈
Exactly what I am looking for. I'm starting out doing dnd sessions recording for you tube so this helps alot
Glad I could help! :D
Super helpful!! I also didn’t know about pressing alt to recrop your camera thank you so much!!
Thanks Kiana! Really glad to help - I use the alt tip so much ☺️
Thank you so much! Was looking how to record reactions to music videos with my friend over video call, this did the trick
thank you Becki!! we'll give it a try using discord
I hope it works for you :)
I'm watching 2 years into the future thank you
My PC doesn't run OBS very well, but now I know how to do this for when I get a better PC. Thanks!
No worries, glad to help even if it’s not something you can use right now. You might want to look into something like Streamyard or Streamlabs Melon (I don’t really like to promote Streamlabs) as both have free options where you can invite guests for things like podcasts and talk shows which works similar to my video example. The difference is that those sites host the stream so there’s no need to have a higher specced PC. Certainly worth checking out 😊
@@BeckiLea Thanks! I'm currently looking forward to only stream using my PC, so that will be helpful for sure!
3 years in the future. Great info
Blew my mind and saved my lives thank you! Never learned the Alt trick to the cam adjustments!
Awesome! Glad to help. Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment ✌️
You're getting more comfrotable talking Bek, great video, I was actually unsure of how to do this so this has been a huge help in growing the empire, thank you!
Ross Rickson thank you so much! This one had a few issues but got it out eventually ha ha. Can’t wait till I don’t sound like the beginning bit on my vids ;) Looking forward to seeing you give this a go. Always up for being a co-star ;)
@@BeckiLea soon fam ✌️
Thanks a lot. This will come in handy for my reacting videos when I shoot with my friends. Love the content.❤❤❤❤
That sounds awesome! It’s loads more fun with friends. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment 💜
That alt to crop tip was so handy in itself, thanks for that! I'm doing my first ever livestream tomorrow to celebrate 500 subscribers, and I foolishly left the learning of how to setup the livestream all to the last minute, so you're saving my ass here XD
Great video thank you!
Woo hoo massive congratulations on 500 subs. That’s massive! Good luck with the live stream - it’s lots of fun!
Not exactly what I was looking for, but it pushed me in the right direction! Thx! 😀
Glad it helped!! Hope you found what you were originally looking for out there too!!
Thank you so much, I seriously been wanting to know how to get this done on obs. I normally stream with gamecaster but I find it much better with obs/discord together. Totally grateful for this tutorial :D
Thank you too GMST4R! Really glad to help out 💜 OBS is easily my fave streaming software and pairing with Discord friends makes the stream so much fun. Appreciate you taking the time to comment!!
I've come back to this multiple times, one thing I can't figure out is how when you go to Discord around 4:23 how do you get the video in Discord to display both you and your game. It's not related to the eventual end product as you crop all of that out for just the friends video window. However, it's a pretty cool useful tip in itself if you could explain how it wasn't just the webcam in discord.
I believe I have the answer. In Discord you were doing screen record instead of enabling video. Very Cool. Thanks for all of your tips, these are super valuable and I come back to find more tips often.
Thank you very much, I'm going to start streaming with a friend and I wanted to put his camera live using discord, you guys helped me a lot. Greetings from Brazil ;)
Love this! It’s so much fun with friends. Enjoy!
Thank you very much yesterday two friends of mine wanted to do a nuzzelocke of Xenoverse and they had the problem and i wanted to help them didnt think about the scene adding you are awesome also nice tipp with the cutting Thank you very much.
No problem at all!! Glad this helped you and your friends! 💜
This is awesome! I’m trying this this weekend. Also, I miss Hyperscape 😢. I loved that game.
Much appreciated, helped. out a lot, I've been struggling with this for a while now.
Glad to help 😊 Hope you’re having fun with it!
Not quite streaming on Twitch, but I will use this for the post-apocalyptic p&p sessions that we upload here on RUclips. Thanks a bunch!💗
That sounds like loads of fun!! How did it go??
@@BeckiLea Well, you should be able to see the result in a couple of weeks, when we start uploading again. ;)
Ahhhh! Supremely helpful. I’ve been mulling how to capture my wife (who finally agreed to play Minecraft) with my son and I - all playing on different devices. Honestly, it’s the audio setup that seemed the most daunting - but this Discord co-op setup seems legit. Can’t wait to give it a shot. We may start streaming or capturing vid to edit for release in 2021.
Hey sorry for the delay in replying. Had a little break from the internet for the holidays. So glad this was helpful. Hope it works out for your stream with the lady! It sounds like loads of fun 🤩
Thanks for the tutorial! I'll try to stream Phasmophobia with some friends!
That will be brilliant!! Will be so entertaining to see everyone’s reactions to the ghosts haha!
I'm going to have to keep coming back to this, but yes, it was.
Glad to hear that!! Hope it helps out on your next livestream!
Never new about the cropping! That's awesome!
It’s a game changer!!! Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment :)
THANK YOU!! so helpful, just got it set up and sent it to my friend!

this is super helpful! im the only streamer(and honestly gamer) in my friend group, but my friends still enjoy being apart of my talking streams! this will make those streams just a tad less boring for my viewers lololol
Haha Thats awesome! I love streaming with friends being able to show their reactions, makes it fun for us as the broadcaster and the viewers too! Hope it helps you and your friends!

It turned out so good. Thank you so much. I did one rookie mistake. My starting soon scene and stream has ended scenes had default audio on them so you could still hear my guest. Lol. Live and learn.
Great video Bekz. Very composed and informative. You really are smashing it.

Thank you for this.
On thin you can do if you want to put stuff over a source but not have it show up OBS is use either a full screen or window preview of just a source, and then window capture that preview into Discord.
Thank you! Finally i found someone!
Hope it helps!!! 💜

Perfect …. That’s one way to do it….
Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment ☺️ Twitch have just released a beta feature where you can invite guests directly to your stream within the twitch studio. If you stream over there could be worth a look. Hoping to get a vid out about it and other ways to do this in the coming months 💜
@@BeckiLea I haven’t gotten over to twitch just yet I was using your info for my RUclips streams …. We stream on my pc side by side using 1 cam so your info was helpful. I was looking into a second cam for each of us on same stream so it was nice to know a way to capture her cam on the stream.
If you know a better way 2 people / 1 stream can do it let me know.
thx, this was what i am looking for.
good explanation
thanks very helpful

thank you !!
Most welcome Januth. Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment! 🙏
great video. What if you had a voice channel and multiple people join in and out. Capturing it this way will probably ruin your crop since the size of videos change in Discord.
Thanks so much for making this so simple
Can you use this technique for multiple partners
Hiya - you can capture as many people within the discord video screen as it will let you but keep in mind if people join or leave it will alter the layout so its good to plan for this on your stream. If I know this is going to happen and I won't be locking the room down, then I just capture everyone in a single source.
This window capture is a quick and dirty solution and works fine when you have just one another person on stream.
But how do you solve it, if you have a group chat with more than just another person?
If you use the way of window capture, you always have the issue that all the single captures of the other members from Discord will be broken if someone (on purpose or not) leaves the call. And additionally, each window capture will have a lower resulution the more members you try to capture from discord.
Is it somehow possible to get the single videofeeds directly of the other members of the call?
Thanks for your work!
Hiya Otus . Since making this video there are now a few dedicated services which provide Co stream services much easier. Take a look at Streamyard or Melon. Both have a free option too so if you only need one other person showing on stream then you don’t need to pay but they do allow a clean and easy way to have multiple guests and share various screen sources.
If you want to retain your own OBS set up and control, you might also want to look at OBS Ninja (VDO Ninja is it’s new name) which gives you separate captures for each person. I currently use this on stream from
Mobile phones where I capture a puppy cam and a leaderboard cam. The quality is totally dependant on internet speed though from both ends so I’ve had fluctuating quality. I do intend on covering all of these options in future vids but for now, I hope this puts you in the right path!
Looks good and thank you for the video. Do You have an idea how to make a stream with multiple gameplay streams from me and my friends?
The idea is: The viewer can see my screen but if it gets boring, I can switch over to the videofeed from my friend and so on.
Hey no problem at all 💜 It can be done in Discord but the quality won’t be best and probably too CPU intensive. However there are now some dedicated services (free for up to two people I think) that can do just what you are looking for. Take a look into Streamyard or Streamlabs Melon (I do try to avoid recommending anything SLOBS but want to give you a few options). These will let you invite guests to the stream and they can share their gameplay too. It’s hosted so no strain on your PC. Something I personally use since making this video is vdo.ninja which is completely free and you can add unlimited guests/cameras/screens and you can capture each individually in OBs. This is again quite resource intensive though and takes some setting up. Hope this puts you on the right track at least. 🤞
@@BeckiLea Thanks. This might be helpful.
So, still no way to avoid the cameras jumping around when someone enter/leaves the call, right? It works with Skype NDI, because every cam can be a source for you to capture, without having to fix the crop everytime. Would be really cool to have this in Discord as well =/
That’s good to know about Skype NDI. I’ve only used this method with Discord, Teams and Zoom so it’s good to know there’s lots of options available for those wanting to use something else. I was just looking into it and seems Skype just needs an OBS plug-in to work. It may well be something Discord looks into adding, they are making big improvements in the app development right now so hopefully they add this. I agree it would be a fab addition. Maybe drop in a suggestion on discord’s Twitter or via their feedback support.discord.com/hc/en-us/community/topics
I’ve just searched on the discord community and they have done a solid and already requested this. So I can only suggest to head over and vote it up - I’ve just voted so hope they put this in :) here’s the link support.discord.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/360072285692--Feature-Suggestion-Multiple-Pop-Out-windows-for-each-video-screen-share-participant?input_string=Feature%20Suggestion%20-%20Video
@@BeckiLea Yeah NDI helps a lot and it's actually simple to setup in obs. I believe there was a certain concern from Discord in adding it due to privacy, but nothing stops anyone from recording a window, as you've just shown. I hope they find a way to add it, because it would help streamers a lot. I stream DnD with friends an it is a real pain to decide between having easy to use cameras with skype, or background music with Discord bots.
@@erickraus1305 it really would be brilliant! I’ve tweeted them linking to the suggestion. Not sure I have enough clout to be noticed but it’s worth a shot ha ha :)
This was very helpful for the visual but my our audio on discord keeps echoing once we live stream
Hi Cameron. It could be caused if your discord is being played to you via the audio source you use as a monitor. You can change the setting easily to play so it is only sent to the stream or to you (or both which might be what it’s currently set as). I made a vid to show how to change this so hope it helps! ruclips.net/video/bjVwhMtFJIo/видео.html
Nice Video, Thanks
Glad you liked it!
thank you soooooo much! subbed!
Amazing thank you! I would love to know how you get on using this in your next live stream :)
Very educational! Thank you❤️🖥🎧
Been looking around for so many tutorials for this one and yours is the easiest one for me. Thank you again! 😊
My pleasure! Thanks for watching :D
that was awesome, thanks for the tutorial
You are most welcome. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment 💜
such a great video, thank you so much!
Thank you and glad to help 🤩
Can you do this with more than 1 person? Like 3 friends for example?
Yes you can, either capture the whole screen showing all participants or do 3 separate captures and crop them down to size around each person. Just keep in mind that if someone leaves then the other boxes will move and potentially break the layout with the latter method.
I would like to thank you very much
For you outstanding info
I really got benefits
Specially in the cropping tool 👏👏❤️
Jusy i have tow questions:
1- how to get the overlays ( download? )
2- thr second face cam from my friend mobile phone the video in discord is not smooth ?
Thanks 🙏❤️
Like 👍
Hi Don! Thank you so much 💜 The overlays on this particular video are free from Stream Elements. If you check out my other vids I have one showing how to set up alerts on stream elements but this also touches on the overlays :) This 2nd cam issue will likely be to do with their internet connection. Discord have recently made changes so that the overall quality isn’t based on the worse internet connection so this should actually be a little improved overall.
Here is the link to the stream elements video, I hope it’s also helpful 💜🤞 ruclips.net/video/PfE-NT7siXw/видео.html
Many many many thanks again , you are marvelous ❤️❤️❤️❤️👍
Thank u very much
I love u!
You're welcome! ⭐
Thanks for the video! How did you do the purple overlay that you have on top of your video
Hi and thanks for watching! It was from StreamElements (I've changed it 3 times since the posting of this video) - by some awesome chance I have just uploaded a tutorial on using StreamElements with OBS if you want to take a look! ruclips.net/video/PfE-NT7siXw/видео.html
I got the same question so thank you for that!❤️
If player 2 streams on discord, could you use that as a source so you could add in their gameplay and not just their face?
Absolutely! I would advise keeping their gameplay smaller on your stream if the quality coming through isn’t the best. If they are streaming live at the same time you could potentially capture a browser source of their game too instead for better quality. If you happen to stream on twitch, they’ve just launched a new feature to add guests to your stream. That could be worth a look if you want to share more than just their faces!
Quick question! I want to stream my screen on discord. That part is easy. But I want to add a camera overlay there. Is there a way I can stream my screen with an camera overlay on discord? Let me know!!
Hi LS3D. I’ve not tried this but I think if you pick up the OBS plug-in called ‘virtual cam’ you could set up a scene that has all your overlays on and then apply the virtual cam filter to the whole scene. This should then allow you to use this as a camera in Discord and will show all your overlay as it appears in OBS.
Would you create a separate window capture if you have more than 1 person in your discord chat?
You can do if you want them in their own box that you can move independently. I once had a room of people and I just captured them all as one big source so depends what look you are after :)
thank you very much ^^
You are most welcome 💜
Really helpful! Thank you!!
Wooop! Glad to help ✌️
I want to try it for a podcast to lifestream on multiple platforms. Ideas please.
Would thus work for just recording as well? Like when I'm not streaming live could my dad (who lives in another state) and I have a conversation with both webcams showing up and maybe a video playing basically a poor man's podcast lol
Yes absolutely. Just hit record instead of go live - this is actually how a lot of people do their podcasts 😁
If someone is on discord on their phone can they still do video?
Hi hope all is well.
Brilliant video, this is exactly what we are looking to setup on our stream in this fashion. Out of interest, do you have to rezise via OBS everytime you go live via Discord, or are the settings/sizes 'generic'?
Thinking best to setup with 2 possibley 3 cams when interviewing guests.
Thank you ✌️👍 keep up the great work
Hi there and thank you!! OBS will remember the cropping but you will need to keep in mind that Discord will ‘auto fit’ the number of chatters to a single screen. So this will be different if you have two people vs three. To make this easy to manage in would create a scene in OBS for both scenarios that you can switch between, this is handy if you have 3 people and someone drops off. Otherwise the layout would no longer fit. I hope that makes sense?
@@BeckiLea na that makes perfect sense. Thanks for getting back in touch. Gained a sub so will defo go through the previous tips and look out for future tips etc. Take it easy ✌️👍😘
@@FPLCasuals thanks so much 💜 Good luck with that multi cam stream, let me know if you get stuck with anything :)
