Having an exit strategy in the Izumo/Bajie is pretty crucial advice. She can pull-off some aggressive positions pretty well if you go bow-in and just forget the third turret exists (especially if you're the type that gets very impatient with extreme-range engagements, like I tend to be), but, generally, once you get in those situations, there's no way to de-commit-you either get blapped in your turn to flee or you take so much damage that you get killed in the chase that follows, especially with that hangar door on her stern that makes a brilliant flat spot for big shells to go right through.
let me try to explain this Bajie character in more modern terms: he was a high ranking general in the "army of heaven"...yes, literally an army up in the sky. But he turned out to be somewhat of a Harvey Weinstein and was me too'd in disgrace and banished down to earth taking the form of a half man half pig creature. He took refuge in a village where he harrassed and terrorised the village folk for years before he was converted to budhism by a passing monk, who also accpeted him as a disciple / bodyguard. So Bajie escorted his mentor on his pilgrimage to India.
I hope Flamu at least complimented that Fletcher, she was doing an amazing job in a collapsing flank, and also saved Flamu's ass. Apart from those widespread torps she performed great.

I think the problem with this ship is not about it performance, but it about then ship's name. Bajie is the name of pig like character (just imagine typical japan's style orc) from the china famous "Journey to the west" novel (this novel is quite popular in east Asia). He is infamous for fat, lustful and gluttony personality. While he not a bad guys, Bajie probably not the popular character like Wukong, infact most of ppl who familiar with the novel probably hate this guy. That why this ship is good like none exist in Asia server (let's not mention the it overprice tier 9 ship), not sure about other server though.

because WG' fucked up Yuzuru Hiraga's design. Izumo was supposed to have all the turrets facing foward like Nelson/Rodney. And a somewhat different armor scheme. But for some reason they made one of the turrets face the ship itself and it went downhill with poor firing arcs....and for some reason they couldn't make the middle turret rotate 360°, but sure, Russian fantasy ships get 360 degree turrets.

I must have been one of the few that didn't really mind having to grind through Izumo back in the day. Don't get me wrong, once I unlocked Yami I never looked back and don't miss Izumo at all lol, but I usually always did well in her so I think all the hate was from people who never got passed her learning curve.
There was a time when the Izumo was truly garbage. She had basically no armor. And due to an unrelated bug she would take citadel damage like crazy. If you had tried to grind this ship during that time you would have been scarred too. Since they gave her armor and fixed that other bug she is a reasonably good ship.
@@itsmebatman I'm pretty sure I grinded up through the original Izumo my friend because I've been playing this game since day 1 of official release. The IJN BB line was the first line I chose to grind through because even before this game I've been a fan boy of the Yamato class.
@@itsmebatman Like I was saying, I'm not arguing with anyone that she was like a dope ship back in the day or anything, I'm just saying during that time period of everyone hating on Izumo I was actually throwing up good numbers and performances in her. I guess I just picked up quickly on the play style one should adopt for most of the IJN BBs in the line which is a mid to long range sniper role. It's very hard to stay true to the sniper role throughout the course of a standard match with the temptation to get closer to a given situation and/or rush head long into an objective always there. I would see many players rush too close to a patch of enemy ships and think they could hang in there by just bow tank reversing back out, but concentrated focus fire from HE will melt you quicker than most players realized at the time. I also picked up on how good her firing angles were when kiting away from someone, so if I ever found myself in a bad spot where I had moved in too close, instead of bow tank reversing slow as hell and getting chipped down, I would full speed U turn then kite away firing HE and AP depending on targeted ship and their angling. I honestly think back then the major issue was people not knowing how to play the ship, because they didn't have the patience to stay at those longer ranges taking well aimed pot shots with the Izumo's super far reaching and highly accurate IJN shells. If the ship was so horrible back then, how was I putting up purple stats in her specifically across multiple categories on WoWS stats sites?

From what i know if mandarin, it would be pronounced similarly to what Flamu said - Ba-ji-e (the E is pronounced separately). But i think it's originally cantonese and then it would be pronounced as Pa-chai (with CH pronounced as in word chalcedony). It would make more sense as the book character (Zhu Bajie) was translated to some languages as Chu Pa-chie or Chu Pa-chien. But this is all from my research, i do not speak either of these languages.

Too bad I don't have captain point to spare for a building up a dedicated Panasian BB crew, so I had to drop the purchase. I grinded the IJN BB not long ago and I found Izumo quite nice to play.

Izumo is one of the ideas the Japanese had on the design path to the Yamato. Bajie is compete fiction, no way the Chinese would have obtained a Japanese BB or BB design and built it.

Neither, really. BBs get shit on with multiple Smolensks in every match, and DDs are in for rough times thanks to tons of radars and rocket planes. Overall I'd go with Fletcher if you wanna stick to T9. But if you wanna reach T10, then Izumo is a better choice simply because it will unlock a Yamato. And Yamato is a beast. Gearing is... meh. Pretty average, it got powercreeped hard.
@@dani3l999 go for them. You do not have any Soviet cruisers yet? If you have the whole line, you keep Moskva as premium, and also get Alexandr Nevski as replacement. The same goes for Kirov. The new line will only have 3 ships, tiers 8 to 10

@Flamu We had a similar game was looking like a stomp from our side but trying to win harder caused a quick loss of ships, we won due to one player in a Salem nearly full HP who hadn't been helping through the game. He came second from bottom and got a Solo Warrior...

it happens believe it or not? I had a cv constantly drop fighters on me in my izumo 2 days ago and a dd smoke me up because the enemy cv had a hard on for killing me! luckily we won and I double complimented both the cv and the dd not alot of players use the compliment system much nowdays....
I hated this ship so bad i rage sold it after 15-20 games. It was nothing but a pain in the arse and a complete utter letdown. 7 overpens on a stationary broadside montana at 8-9 ish kilometers, caught him beached comming around and island. That was it for me, sold it after that game and never looked back. Which reminds me.......why am i here ? :p

Lion has replaced Izumo as the by far worst ship in tier 9. It can't a barn door from the inside of the barn, it got a terrible dispersion, for some reason WG raised the citadell, so that you need almost full broadside to use all guns, the reason WG lowered the citadel in the first place. Lion is horrible to play, I removed my 19 point captain from her and ship is a port decoration.
If you want the Conqueror but hate Lion and have the special flags, you can grind it in probably fewer than 20 games. Because now we can run all the economic flags at the same time as well as 8 combat flags. I did that with the German cruisers, from buying Yorcke to researching Hindenburg (no credits to buy yet - lol) in under 50 games total.

3:50 78.9k is fine. 2 researchable BBs have far more, 2 researchable BBs have far less. Only leaving the Iowa, which has only 100 HP more.

Too bad I don't have captain point to spare for a building up a dedicated Panasian BB crew, so I had to drop the purchase. I grinded the IJN BB not long ago and I found Izumo quite nice to play.
Don't get me wrong Fletcher did well, but the constant wide angle launching just grinds my gears lol, but hey i guess it was good crowd control

Izumo is one of the ideas the Japanese had on the design path to the Yamato. Bajie is compete fiction, no way the Chinese would have obtained a Japanese BB or BB design and built it.
@@Neneset Yeah, that's what I thought. Feels a bit like a "Polish BB" that is nothing but a Bismarck reskin...kinda tasteless considering how many Chinese were killed during the war against Japan.
Now if they introduced another Yamato variant which is not the A140J2, aka Izumo, as a replacement for Musashi, that would be pretty neat if they did something similar to this

I'm at a fork in the road, need some help. i have enough free xp to get the izumo OR the fletcher. which one performs better in the current meta? or maybe save the 70k free xp to get a soviet cruiser soon?
Neither, really. BBs get shit on with multiple Smolensks in every match, and DDs are in for rough times thanks to tons of radars and rocket planes.
Overall I'd go with Fletcher if you wanna stick to T9. But if you wanna reach T10, then Izumo is a better choice simply because it will unlock a Yamato. And Yamato is a beast. Gearing is... meh. Pretty average, it got powercreeped hard.

@@dani3l999 go for them. You do not have any Soviet cruisers yet? If you have the whole line, you keep Moskva as premium, and also get Alexandr Nevski as replacement. The same goes for Kirov. The new line will only have 3 ships, tiers 8 to 10
@@jozseftoth9368 - current info is - you get to keep Moskva and Kirov - BUT - have to GRIND and BUY the Nevsky and the T5 replacement. I hope wargaming at least changes that to just BUY and not GRIND as well.

Musashi is specifically used for Range, spotter duration and the most important factor, overmatch. So no, Bajie cant replace Musashi in 899.

(last time I did that it took over 5 minutes to disengage from the border with full reverse the whole time). My bet is he rage quite because he was stuck and being focused down at the time.

it happens believe it or not? I had a cv constantly drop fighters on me in my izumo 2 days ago and a dd smoke me up because the enemy cv had a hard on for killing me! luckily we won and I double complimented both the cv and the dd not alot of players use the compliment system much nowdays....
What's worse is guys would win far more often if they did......

Izumo's range is 19.8km. Not 22km.
I hated this ship so bad i rage sold it after 15-20 games. It was nothing but a pain in the arse and a complete utter letdown.
7 overpens on a stationary broadside montana at 8-9 ish kilometers, caught him beached comming around and island. That was it for me, sold it after that game and never looked back.

Lion has replaced Izumo as the by far worst ship in tier 9. It can't a barn door from the inside of the barn, it got a terrible dispersion, for some reason WG raised the citadell, so that you need almost full broadside to use all guns, the reason WG lowered the citadel in the first place.
Lion is horrible to play, I removed my 19 point captain from her and ship is a port decoration.
If you want the Conqueror but hate Lion and have the special flags, you can grind it in probably fewer than 20 games. Because now we can run all the economic flags at the same time as well as 8 combat flags. I did that with the German cruisers, from buying Yorcke to researching Hindenburg (no credits to buy yet - lol) in under 50 games total.
