I really like the understated tones. It has an antique/retro feel. Reminds me of the 'disc' camera type photos from early '80s. Especially love the fluid colours that pop from fruits etc.
No worries! It was a very last minute premiere so I won't hold it against you 😂and thank you so much! Those ones are definitely my favourite. I love the way the fruit pops, and it's definitely not something I had expected with Metropolis!
@@SophiaCarey You're too good to me 😆 I have to admit that Metropolis isn't one I've checked out, good to see images from a stock I've not previously considered
I've shot one roll of 35mm on a bright sunny day and the photos came out quite harsh, but most of my shots didn't have a lot of variety in terms of colors, and certainly not reds for the most part. I didn't have the range of color that you captured in the green grocer pic, and I like the way this film stock captured those colors. Overall, I like the gritty look and will have to think where it will work best. I still have a few rolls sitting in the fridge.
I’d imagine the weather conditions probably have a lot to do with how the film turns out, too! It was a really overcast day when I shot this roll, and a lot of the photos were in the shade so I wonder if that changes the colours and vibrancy.
pretty sure the warmth comes from the difference in the film rebate tint. I think its a bit greener than other c-41 negative films so when the lab inverts it, it might make it a lot warmer?
Great review, if this roll of film I’ve got in at the moment actually turns out then I may have to try some of this, be great for my street photography around Manchester. I need to check this film I’ve got first though, last roll and my first with an SLR came out blank, user error I guess.
@@SophiaCarey Just found it in 110 format too, I have a couple of those I want to try at some point too as they are the first type of camera I ever used, my mums when I was 10, took it to Norway and that’s nearly 40 years ago. How I wish I had all those old photos but most family photos disappeared when my mum passed away.
I love Metropolis. Love the differences between 400 ISO and 100 ISO. Lomography marketing BS is misleading, because at 400 ISO it is a very sweet landscape film while the gritty street shooting they promote is better served by 100 ISO with a second type of urban shooting palette offered by 400 ISO. It is a far more vesatile film than their marketing implies. It is characterful. Plus it is a rare example of a film available in 120, 135, and 110. The granularity of the 110 experience is very artistic. The grain structure means it gives very interesting creative differences across various formats.
is the thumbnail Savers Plus on Bethnal Green Road? it seems so familiar! love all your vids xx edit: just watched till the end, it definitely is! hahah thank you for making me reminisce my old neighbourhood 🤍

Thank you! Definitely has a more retro feeling!
Sorry to have missed the premiere. I love the fruit & veg store shots Sophia

Would love to see what you could make with it!
@@SophiaCarey May have to get some of it on 35MM & use it to try out my new toy Sprocket Rocket 😁
Love the warmth of the images, definitely my thing. Just bought a 35mm roll of Metropolis but still need to give it a go!
Thank you so much Nuno! I’m sure you’ll love it.
Thanks for being curious and trying out this film stock. I was wondering about it myself.
Honestly really enjoyed it. I have another roll I’m hoping to shoot soon!
Nice to hear your thoughts as Ive seen a lot of variety in the results from this film but love it all!
I've definitely seen a lot in variety in shots, too, so I think there are a lot of variables that work with this stock

Oh no, that’s such a shame! I hate when that happens. But definitely. I want to try to stick around Manchester too, I think it’ll work well
